Dining solo at Pod Nosem was a pleasant experience, with the evening starting on a classic note: chicken liver pâté accompanied by a selection of very good breads.
For my meal, I chose:
Brioche with foie gras and raspberry mousse – the most adventurous pairing of the evening. The flavours worked, but did not quite surprise.
Deer sirloin with asparagus, béarnaise sauce, and foie – a safe, traditional dish, well prepared but without any unexpected twists.
Cheesecake with raspberry sauce – a familiar, tried-and-tested combination, competently done.
A glass of Polish Gewürztraminer, recommended by my waitress Olivia, proved a very good match—unassuming yet exactly right for the menu.
The food overall was good, leaning towards the traditional rather than inventive. Perhaps that was the intention: to present Polish cuisine in a refined but recognisable way.
Where Pod Nosem excelled was in service. Olivia struck the perfect balance—attentive without hovering, professional yet warm. She made me feel like a valued guest while also giving me the space to enjoy the meal in peace.
The atmosphere was elegant but comfortable, creating the right backdrop for a relaxed evening.
Would I return? Yes. Pod Nosem delivers solid cooking and outstanding service—an enjoyable place to revisit when in Kraków.
