I recently stayed at Pod Roza for a business trip. The hotel has an elegant charm with a beautiful historic renovation and a perfect location right in the center of Krakow. Upon my arrival early in the morning, my room was already prepared thanks to prior arrangements made by my client, which was convenient after the flight.
However, several issues unfortunately impacted the overall experience. The shower in my first room (315) was leaking heavily from day one
I reported it to reception, but no action was taken during most of my stay. The room also had very thin curtains with no blackout option, which made it difficult to sleep during early summer mornings when daylight starts around 4:30 AM. Additionally, there was no coffee machine or kettle for hot water in the room basic amenities one would expect from a 5-star hotel. The bed itself was comfortable.
The spa is beautifully designed, though quite small. The gym offers very limited equipment (no weights, just a bike, treadmill , and yoga mat), and it only opens from 9 AM to 11 PM, which is not ideal for guests with early schedules or jet lag.
I had dinner at the restaurant every evening food was generally good but often extremely salty, with several menu items unavailable. The breakfast was of good quality, but I encountered a serious issue when I found a large piece of plastic inside my yogurt, which I reported to the staff. Additionally, some dried orange pieces in the granola were so hard they became a real choking hazard, especially for children.
On the evening before my departure, as the issue with the shower still hadn’t been resolved, I reported it again. The hotel offered to move me to a different room, which I accepted. The new room was slightly larger and more comfortable, but overall nothing exceptional.
In general, while the hotel has some clear qualities and potential, it currently doesn’t fully meet the 5-star standards it advertises. With better attention to detail and more consistency in guest care, the experience could be greatly improved.
Surprising for this level: no labels or descriptions on breakfast items guests have no idea what they’re eating.
