Ugh! The Red Roof didn't offer any type of coffee ☕️!!! And I need 😫 coffee in the morning! Soo, next thing I did was to use Google maps to explore coffee shops closer to the Alamodome. The reviews and pictures 📸 of the Poetic Republic Coffee Roasters really caught my eye 👁! Specifically it being close to the Vienna-style coffee shops I knew from Germany! Glad 😊 to have picked this one! Jorge was more than helpful. The coffee ☕️ was great and the quiche, just delicious 😋! It is made a little differently than a "usual" quiche, but oh, the flavors!!! And, they bake it themselves! CC was all over my plate! As you can tell, almost no crumbs left! 😀! Oh, free coffee refills, while you are there! Since I had more time to visit, I ordered their Cinnamon Croissant Roll, also baked fresh there! Yum, yum! Good for my tummy 😋! Cynthia did a great job of answering some of my questions! The ambience is just beautiful, encouraging you to either chat with others, to work or just read. I had the pleasure of chatting with Jorge and others! Loved ❤️ every minute I was there! Jorge, knowing that I had more time on my hands, recommended the "Cherrity Bar" as a stop, working my way to the Alamodome! More in my review for it! This little coffee shop is definitely 5-star, thumbs 👍 up gem! If you are in San Antonio, it is really worth a stop!!! 😀😋😊! A big shout out to Jorge and Cynthia!

I’ve been wanting to come here for a while and we finally were able to check it out on our way to SPI! Absolutely loved the atmosphere, very welcoming as soon as you walk in! Plenty of space to chat or study! Can’t wait to come back!

Love this coffee shop! Great coffee, friendly staff, cute & cozy atmosphere. Their specialty drinks are superb. I got the BCS and it did not disappoint! Definitely visiting again.

Such a nostalgic aura that encompasses poetic republic. The barista Jorge welcomed me as I walked into the atmosphere and I felt immediately comfortable and at ease. The coffee here is absolutely 🔥, it’s not just made with quality beans and dairy, but with actually care and emotion; this is what keeps me coming. This is one of the only coffee shops in San Antonio that has authentic wood floor, yesssss, wood floors! This rustic feel allows for more nostalgic vibes.

I visited this café and had a lovely experience. The decor was beautiful and thoughtfully designed, creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. I tried their black coffee and matcha — both were delicious! I would definitely come back again.

Just awesome local independent coffee and wine shop. Service is through the roof. Easy street and lot parking. Easily the best in San Antonio. Neighborhood gem. Only tell your cool friends though....

Cutest coffee shop to sit and chat. The atmosphere is cozy and warm. The staff is incredibly kind. We came at the last second and expected to be rushed out, however, they welcomed us and explained the items to us patiently. We were so pleasantly surprised and will absolutely be coming back again. 10/10

The service is impeccable and attentive. The cafe is cute and quaint. I love the vide. The pistachio lemon bar is absolutely amazing and must try! They have good amount of street parking and a lot across the street. They have a decent amount of indoor seating as well.

30+ minute wait for 2 hot coffees. I observe orders placed after mine being made first. I ask about it and in a very dismissive tone I'm told, "you're next". Super long wait accompanied with poor customer service is very disappointing.

Came here to do some work. It's hard to find a cute coffee shop on the southside but this is closer to downtown so I guess it was a compromise. The location itself is along Presa and parking can be an issue but I came when it wasn't too packed so I found a spot up front. Hope you know how to parallel park The space is a vibe itself. There's plenty of tables to sit and don't worry, if you're trying to get work done there is plenty of outlets!! If you'd like a quiet space, this ain't the place for you. Their music is a bit loud IMO but just bring your AirPods and you'll be good. Unless you have a meeting, this ain't the place for you. Now onto the coffee....if that's why you're reading I can't help you there. Coffee is coffee - it was good! I got the brown sugar cinnamon latte. I liked it! Hope this helps!

If you are looking for a cute coffee shop and love poem this place is your spot! When arriving you are greeted with a warm welcome and since I was new to the spot they explained to me what their specials were. My boyfriend ordered the Down to Earth as I got The Optimistic. Although they were both yummy the Optimistic was my fav! I would definitely be going again

Needed a spot to touch up my finances and remembered POETIC R COFFEE! Second time here and I could not have asked for a better spot. Baristas were friendly and patient. The interior is just so..CUTE..so earthy like. I ordered an iced coffee with Lavender and a blueberry muffin warmed - delicious and simple. What I was looking for was definitely met. Will be back.

An exciting update: over the 2024 holidays, Poetic Republic installed a new oven for heating food that warms each item thoroughly and quickly! It's perfect, and works so fast, they had the (very tasty) Breakfast Sandwich (my fave) to me before even the cappuccino (another fave!) was ready. I used to have to wait as much as 15 minutes for a food item to get thoroughly warmed, and now the espresso and food arrive at nearly the same time! Happy New Year, Poetic Republic!

I wish this magical coffee shop had more operational hours, because coming at 7pm on the quiet street for Silent Book Club was truly a wonderful experience. This year is the first year I have actually tried reading poetry and to go to Poetic Republic was a beautiful end cap to that. My latte was excellent. The ambiance is so cozy and service was great. Highly recommend!

First time trying this coffee house and I'm glad I did. I'm not much of a person to try new coffee but their iced brown sugar latte was with the try. Nice and quiet once you walk in, employees were super friendly. Definitely will come back when in that area.

Standard coffee offerings, made in-house. Staff is always friendly. Nothing stands out but I can also appreciate sticking to basics and pumping out solid coffee instead of what's popular and overly sweet. Unlike a lot of coffee spots, especially non-chains, this place is small and set-up like what I'd consider to be a "traditional" coffee house versus a study center or hangout spot. With that said, tables are small and you won't be able to have (2) laptops open if visiting with someone. Also, the area fills up fast. Wi-Fi is super fast and makes for a spot to take a break in the middle of the day, knock out a couple emails and be on your way.

This is such a cute and cozy coffee spot, and I would love to come back. The staff was incredibly friendly, and I really enjoyed my coffee. Unfortunately, my partner didn't like his cortado--but to be fair, he's quite the coffee snob!

My first time here! Definitely gives you all the cute, earthy, chill vibes! It's SO cute inside! It was actually busy when I got there, most of the tables were full with people chitchatting which I actually enjoy seeing! I got the iced lavender iced coffee, I recommend but it's not for the weak because it's a bit strong lol! The baked goods are a must, they have a Nutella swirl bread and ughhhhhh you have to pair it with your coffee. Don't forget to toast it I'm coming more often for sure! OH and the playlist is fireeeeeeeeeee!

This spot is such a vibe, they have great service, the pastries are always fresh and full of flavors, and the coffees are some of my favorites from any other local shop. I love how the iced lattes have 4 shots of expresso. Makes them really give me that quick of energy that i need! If you are looking for a very nice coffee shop to work and relax, i highly recommend this spot.

Great coffee, lovely upbeat but chill ambiance, fun and talented staff, plenty of room to meet up with a friend, do a bit of work, or try your hand at writing some poetry. Or not. Great hang spot if you're in SoDo.

I needed good Latte for my day, and I'm glad that I came here. I enjoyed my Latte, and also the friendly service. The ambiance was nice and cozy. Even though I was alone, I felt comfortable staying by myself. They have special donuts on only Saturdays, and I was lucky to come here on that specific day. Unfortunately I was too full to eat them, but I couldn't just ignore them. I got three to-go donuts; blueberry, churro chocolate, and lime margarita. I'm excited to try them tomorrow as my breakfast. It's a bit far from my home, but I'll definitely be back when I'm around this area.

This is a cute little coffee shop that serves great coffee and would be a great spot to do work. I got the Pumpkin It Up, which is a PSL that isn't too sweet and instead highlights the great coffee that they serve. The baristas are super friendly and welcoming, and not only take your order but also make the drinks. The interior is decorated cozily and was accented with Halloween decor, which really made the place even cozier. There is a parking lot across from the street from the coffee shop if you can't find street parking in front. I'll definitely be back for more coffee soon!

The absolute BEST strawberry matcha in all of San Antonio. The matcha is extremely smooth and tastes amazing. However, if you're not a fan of sweeter matcha it probably won't be your favorite but it's the best in my opinion. Really calm and relaxing environment and the staff is extremely friendly and sociable. It's my top 3 coffee shops in all San Antonio. The only downside is the parking, but it has nothing to do with Poetic itself. I really really recommend Poetic if you're looking for a new coffee spot! (The image attached was of a latte they recommended me to try and it was extremely good but I can't remember what it was)

Found cool coffee spot. Tyler was friendly and made great drinks. Cool atmosphere and tried some drink specials.

Stopped by to get a tea and latte to go. They had a couple pastries as well as coffee and tea options. There's also a seasonal menu. It seems like a nice quiet place to get some work done, there's plenty of seats inside. The staff were friendly and offered a discount as first time customers.

You guys need to check out this cute little coffee shop not too far from Southtown. The coffee was delicious, the staff was very nice, place was cozy and inviting. They sell pastries as well but I did not get to try them. They looked delicious though!! Definitely will be back

The coffee and atmosphere is good. Cashiers and servers are nice and patient. My gripe is the hidden fees. For example, they have a drink called the Scout. Espresso, milk, chocolate, coconut, plus (your choice of milk.) But guess what, when you choose your choices mini, they charge an extra .75... so now they are more expensive than Starbucks. Why say plus your choice of milk and then not disclosure the extra cost. I don't appreciate businesses that add costs that should be included. For this reason, I won't be back. I have referred people to this business but will no longer get do so. Plus if a person is lactose intolerant, they are being charged extra for having that disability if you think about it. Lactose free alternatives are not that expensive for them to charge almost a dollar for. Especially when the sign gives the impression that it's included.

If you find yourself needing a good coffee in Southtown, this is the place to go! Great coffee and delicious pastries. It was such a cute coffee shop too! Everyone was super helpful when asking for recommendations. Will come back again soon!

We used to drop in on Sundays after church a little after 1pm. But, since you're closing at 2pm on Sundays we just can't get there with enough time due to the distance. Miss the great coffee and great vibes. Hope they reconsider their hours once Spring arrives. Maybe stay open till 3pm on Sunday? I understand staffing and other business concerns but, if it is possible please reconsider.

My cousins and I came here on a Saturday morning for a cousin coffee date. They have a really nice open seating area where we were all able to sit together. There was 8 of us ladies. They had different hot coffees and teas as well as non coffee drinks for my one cousin. We also enjoyed their pastries and snack and meal options. The service was also really nice. You order at the counter and they'll call your name to claim your order at the counter. We weren't aware that we had to listen for our names but they kindly brought our orders to our table. Well remember for next time for sure. What a lovely place for a morning coffee and calm ambience. They also have a free book lending library and that was my favorite part!

Visiting Poetic is a treat. As soon as you walk in, you can feel the laid back and cozy vibe and the baristas make you feel instantly welcome while working with you to create your perfect beverage. My latte was perfect and I'm definitely considering going back to get a bag of coffee to bring home because it was that good. Don't miss this gem!

This was a very clean, spacious, and well utilized space. Not only is this place a coffee shop, it's a bookstore, and record store all in one. They have nothing but good vibes with a clean aesthetic. They have a large seating area and wifi to get all your work needs done. The coffee is made well. Beans are not over cooked, they clean their machine after every use, and well organized behind the counter. I would check them out if you are ever in Jackson.

If I could give them 10.stars, I would. The barista was amazing and made our drinks so great! Love the vibe, and rhey even have wine! We were also informed that there is poetry night and other events! Definitely coming back!

Great coffee shop in San Antonio. Visited around 11 am on a Sunday. Baristas were very friendly and knowledgeable about the coffee. I read the pastries were pretty tasty and I agree. Definitely worth a visit. The atmosphere is very relaxed. Great spot to study or read. Books available to read during your visit. Didn't check out the wine but maybe next time

As I travel around the country, I seek out local coffee roasters and Poetic Republic are among the best I have encountered. I very much enjoyed my latte, the bag of beans I took home, the midcentury inspired literary decor, and the great conversation with the roaster himself.

My husband and I love this cafe so much! The place is very cozy and intimate. I don't really recommend going with a group of more than 4. This is more for studying, date night, get lost in books, or enjoying time to yourself. The staff is great when it comes to service! They always play comforting music and give amazing recommendations if you're ever feeling unsure on what to order. Also your order comes out at a decent time. You never have to wait long. Also the place has usual pop ups and small markets that can catch your eye. I love my iced chai lattes, they know how to make it perfectly! Also they have a good range of alternative milks. Also has great places to eat a snack! Overall, I love coming here and supporting a cozy local place!

Got their house hot coffee as part of a coffee crawl. They regularly have pop up vendors and there was one today. They also have Ooyoopan bakery macarons available and they are amazing! The team that works here is always friendly and the place is so cozy and welcoming

My husband and I really enjoyed the atmosphere inside this coffee shop. It is calm, warm, and inviting. Love to just sit and drink coffee here. The coffee drinks we ordered were good and came out quickly. The staff was amicable and efficient.

Giving this place 5 stars !! I go to a lot of coffee shops and there are some musts -- ofc the coffee must be good and here it was very good! I had drip coffee and my friend had a sweet latte and they were both yummy. Another must is the seating, the seating was super comfortable, and it was a good place to work. And then the vibe-- vibe was 10/10, they had poetry chapbooks laying around for you to read and the servers were super nice. Def coming back to this place. Loved it.

This place is equal parts warm/inviting and incredible coffee. We tried several items including their Brown Sugar Latte (espresso, cinnamon & brown sugar) and Gingerbread Latte. The baristas were friendly and knowledgeable, and answered our most basic questions about lattes with grace and no judgement. The space itself is ideal to catch up with a friend or spend some time reading from the adorable library. There is a plenty of seating in their new addition, so it feels safe during a pandemic! Pro tip: Get the Brown Sugar Latt

I have quite a few visits to this coffee shop under my belt by this point so it's been time for a review. What I love is the consistency of how great the coffee is and how welcoming the staff are. My favorite from here is The Optimistic but all of their drinks are delicious. They do have alternative milk options too. The pastries they source are great and you always have the option to have it warmed up which I appreciate. They expanded their original space so if you visited when they first opened you will be pleasantly surprised! Lots of seating, clean environment, great decor and great lighting. Their pop up brunches are fantastic (and do get busy!). I need to drop by during a jazz or poetry event next. They also do wine in the evening! The selection isn't huge but I like the concept and hope they expand. I stopped by for a glass of wine and to write and the space is just as inviting in the evening. This place truly is a gem.

Such a unique and lovely place for creative yummy treats and delicious rich coffee, there's something for everyone from strong and earthy, sweet and delicate to a very artistically driven pallet. Very impressed with it all. Staff is lovely and so friendly. I highly recommend this place.

Super chill spot for a great tasting cup of coffee. This spot is located close to King Williams District and has south town vibes. It's a nice quiet place to study or meet with someone for the first time. Their menu is pretty standard and have several specialty drinks you should try. I had the down to earth and the brown sugar cinnamon latte. Both were very similar but the latter had a bit more sweetness to it. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff! Check it out!

Snazzy little coffee spot.. I stopped in and hung out for a few hours and it was hustling and bustling the entire time. I love seeing local spots getting lots of love. This is a good space to grab a drink to go, sit down and stay awhile or set up your laptop to do some work by the window. They offer up a wine happy hour that I can't wait to go back and try!

Are you looking for a delicious a delicious cup of coffee? Then head to Poetic Republic Coffee to taste one of their delicious drinks. I had the Down to Earth drink which had espresso, milk, honey and cinnamon. It was smooth, velvety and absolutely scrumptious. Not too sweet , but just right. My husband had the Maple Pecan which had the perfect amount of fall spice. Can't wait to go back to try the Mellow Latte.
