The Best Fish and Chips in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"This fast-casual dining spot is ideal for a mid-day or after hours pick-me-up accessible in three San Diego neighborhoods: Point Loma, Encinitas, and Pacific Beach. With a price tag just shy of $19, the fish and chips combination plate comes with four strips of grilled or fried Alaskan cod with fries, plus cocktail and tartar sauce. The family- and dog-friendly environment makes the atmosphere welcoming, as well as its varied seating options — from indoor dining to patio tables ripe for people-watching." - Roxana Becerril

Ok so I went two days in a row and got different things. When I went on Saturday it was plenty of seating, great cashier and parking lot is small but there is street parking. If you like oysters get them, if you like clam chowder get it. The onion rings are for sure some of the best I've had and the blackened halibut was good. Today I had the fish house stew it was good but I prefer the clay chowder, the tko taco, the lobster taco and the fish house shrimp that's on the favorites part of the menu were so delicious, food Is fresh, atmosphere is chill, I will definitely be back.

Google
The food was very good. Slipper lobster taco 4/5. Mahi taco 5/5. Ahi taco 4/5. Fish shop clam chowder 5/5. Fries 4/5. Ambiance was very nice with open seating and plenty of sunshine. Very helpful staff. The only drawback is the location is easy to miss and the prices are a bit high. The higher prices do not take away from the portion size so that's nice.

Google
Great Lobster Taco, Bowl of Clam Chowder was a very generous portion - one of the best Clam Chowders I've ever had. They offer Military Discount. Only con is the flies/bugs flying around but being open to the elements don't know if it can be helped. Recommend

Google
Friendly casual dining. Order in the front, pay, and get your number. The staff will bring the food to your table. We ordered the fish and chips, a bowl of clam chowder, and small order of onion rings. The fish was quite delicious and chips was just okay. Chowder was very good with good amount of chopped clams. The onion rings were huge. We left extremely full. Yum.

Google
Stopped for lunch. The fish taco was excellent! But unfortunately, the crab cake tasted overwhelmingly like lemon. So much, you couldn't taste anything else. I told the front about it, and they asked, "Did you squeeze lemon on it?" FYI, it doesn't come with lemon. Anyway, she just said it wasn't supposed to taste like. Nothing else. The Cole Slaw was okay. So this place is 50/50 for me.

Google
Such a great place to eat. Friendly staff, clean restaurant and fun atmosphere. They have to best Hazey IPA in SD!

Checked out this place on a Sunday afternoon. Everyone was friendly and prompt. Food was tasty and great value. We loved the crabcake, fish tacos, oysters, and clam chowder. Great dog friendly patio as well. Lots of TVs to watch sports! Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Yum. Service is friendly and fast and their food is amazing. I'm not a big sea food or fish person in general, but I love the mahi mahi here! I ordered the Elote taco and some fries and they were amazing. Fries are fresh! Taco is stuffed to the brim and mahi mahi tasted perfect. Ambiance is casual and relaxed. I love coming here and chatting with the friendly staff members! They have tvs to entertain yourself with sports. Today it's baseball and golf!

Yelp
I came here for first time Sunday July 20, 2025, to meet a MeetUp group. When I arrived, the items on the menu were SO EXPENSIVE, I told other people in line, how expensive the items were. You see I eat at California Fish Grill with this same group, where the prices are very reasonable, and the portions are huge. I attached a picture of fried catfish on top of sweet potato fries and big helping of kale and chia seed cole slaw. I feel the prices for the fish here at Point Loma Fish shop were so expensive, that the only thing I could bring myself to order, was the clam chowder. The cashier showed me the bowl that it would be served in, and said the chowder was thick and delicious. It cost $12.25 for a bowl. But when it arrived they only filled the bowl 2/3 full, about 12 oz. I told her to fill the bowl, but she said it was "weighed" for fixed portions, and I couldn't get anymore. California Fish Grill 12 oz clam chowder is $7.99, 3 piece fish and chips with 2 sides is $13.50, or $10.95 for 2 pieces. Sides are generous portions. The Pt Loma clams were only tiny specs, and I didn't like the taste of the chowder. Not rich enough. Someone at my table said, "How's the clam chowder". I immediately stood up and said " I paid $13.20 for it and I DON'T LIKE IT AND I AM TAKING IT BACK TO GET MY MONEY BACK !" I got up from the table and took it back to the cashier, who also brings you your food to your table. It took 4 days to get my $13.20 credit back to y credit card. She rung up the refund as "Cust bad " (words on receipt) . I decided to get the smoked salmon belly taco, which cost $7.50. The salmon taco was mediocre, but was made much better when I asked her to bring me more avocado sauce, which I used as a salad dressing inside my taco. When I looked at the portions of the Plates that the other people in my group ordered, their portions were really puny. I can't believe they got such small pieces for $23. I only have Calif fish Grill to compare with in my mind, and I have returned to Calif Fish Grill repeatedly, and I am treating my next door neighbors to eat there, cos they like fish places. They have never been to Calif Fish Grill. I see other Yelpers commented like on May 10, 2025 about the tiny portions at this Fish Shop, describing their portion as a "tiny sample" that cost $20. The Fish Shop doesn't have any catfish. But look at this picture below, of the Fried Catfish with choice of 2 sides that you get at California Fish Grill for $15.95. When I had eaten half of the fish someone came in late, and saw my half and exclaimed "Oh that's a BIG piece" when it was only half of what was served, and I told her I ate half already. I made two meals out of my California Fish Grill $15.95 order. At California Fish Grill, Fish and Chip Plate with two generous sides is only $10.95, and 3 piece Plate is $13.95, but at Pt Loma Fish Shop, Fish and Chips cost over $23 not including tax. Serving size does not look worth even $13.95 to MEEEEE. The reason why I am not giving my Pt. Loma experience 1 star, is the cashier was accommodating about the refund which took 4 days to post on my bank statement. She was civil and not rude. Look at this picture below, of the Fried Catfish with choice of 2 sides that you get at California Fish Grill for $15.95

Yelp
Uugghh sssooooooo disappointing!! This is my se one time here, the first time me and my husband came for dinner and it was spectacular! A little pricey but very worth it! Today I came and picked up clam chowder, fish n chips, shrimp and chips, and the seafood lumpia. When I walked in I used the restroom before I picked up my order, and to my surprise the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting! Both of the ladies stalls were full of urine all over the floor, toilet paper thrown everywhere and one of the toilets not working at all. There was no toilet paper in one and the trash was over flowing. That should have been my sign to leave and cancel the order. When I got my food it looked like it had just been thrown in the boxes and there was not that much in them. The clam chowder looked crusty on the top and even after stirring it it was really clumpy so it must've been the remains from the bottom of the pot because it was dark. Nothing tasted fresh and for my bill to have came to $100 I am beyond disappointed. It was a waste because we ended up having to go get fast food anyways. I'm sorry but please steer clear! PS: all of this makes me question the cleanliness of the establishment, not only because of the restroom being filthy but also the common areas.

Yelp
Great menu options with plenty to choose from. Shrimp ceviche was delicious and the mahi mahi taco was fantastic. They also had a firecracker shrimp taco special for 4th of July which was great. The shrimp has the Fish Shop special seasoning on it and it made me want more. Friendly staff ready to answer questions and help you out if you need. Not great parking so be prepared for street parking. But they do have a small space right behind the restaurant but it's a one way small entry so you will have to back out. They have a shrimp seafood boil bag special that I am excited to go back and try one day.

Yelp
7 pm Sunday: Great place in Point Loma . Located on the corner, spacious with the atmosphere of a local bar n grill. There were quite a few seats available: bar chairs and table seats. The menu looked super complicated at first but after a few minutes I decided on a sea bass plate with salad and fries. The sea bass was fresh and well seasoned, I had it served blackened style with the house seasonings, fish was just a bit well done so lemon juice helped. The other item I tried was the fish n chips. Honestly they looked a bit overcooked and burnt but.... It was still super tasty! Street parking is available and location is just two blocks or so from shelter island area.

Yelp
Great casual and affordable fish restaurant n Point Loma. Plenty of street parking and nice outdoor seating along with some indoor seating if that your things. The line was a bit long, but it moved quickly and we received our dishes shortly after ordering. Great daily beer specials of local brews. Really enjoyed our experience at this location.

Yelp
The fish shop is mainly known for their oysters and that what I decided to indulge in. I just fully focused on their oysters and got 6 pieces from each of their 4 different kinds. The phantom was my personal favorite but I enjoyed trying them all. The servers were kind and attentive and the restaurant had a variety of different kinds of seating making it a very comfortable experience. I went on a Thursday which is when they have their offer on oysters making it only 1.25 dollars per piece which is pretty unmatched in San Diego. I felt like there was a bit too much flaked shell in my oysters but that is a common issue that comes with shucking oysters. Otherwise it was a good overall experience.

Yelp
Mitch's was closed apparently due to some grease fire. SO wanted fish / shrimp n chips. First day in town so just came here. Parking is a bit off as we parked on the street near some residential area. Place is on the corner. Open atmosphere. Orders are done at the entrance and it's seat yourself. Friendly staff. Clam Chowder - Rich and thick. One day hopefully I am this rich n thick. Not a whole lot of clam or potatoes however. Very tasty though. Yellowtail grilled w lemon garlic butter sauce - Well the lemon butter sauce wasn't really present on the fish. However the yellowtail grill and flavor was bomb. The fish wasnt dry and the flavor was fresh and delicious. The wild rice was meh. Fluffy but lacked any flavor. Even the grain flavor. Definitely felt healthy. Onion rings are perfectly cooked and delicious crisp and flavor. Shrimp and Chips - Fries were good. Lots of chips. Shrimp while huge and not overcooked the batter was amazing. Some of the shrimps weren't fully cooked all the way so the batter on the inside part was mush. This was on about 2-3 shrimps out of 8-10. Clam chowder is good and make sure they cook your shrimp. Grilled yellowtail was delicious.

Yelp
Can't say enough about this place. Although they sell fresh caught fish of all kinds, I've only gone there to eat. So many options. My favorite is the clam chowder in the bread bowl and the fish and chips. I love the thinly cut French fries. Can't forget their signature tartar sauce.

Yelp
We were staying in the Point Loma and came for dinner three times. The food was fresh, tasty and they had a good variety of options. We loved the clam chowder, blackened shrimp and grilled mayo mahi.

Yelp
I've been several Fish Shop locations first time at this one. You order before sitting down. They will provide a number and the food will be delivered to your table. I decided to have fish and chips plus a small bowl of clam chowder. Both were delicious! They always have fresh seafood here. I appreciated the batter to fish ratio was perfect. The clam chowder was really good. Especially on a cool overcast day like we had. There is indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside to enjoy the weather. Staff is nice and restaurant is clean. Definitely would come back again.

Yelp
Service is really good. Workers are very friendly and go out their way to help you. Open patio with nice tv's to watch your favorite game. Food really surprised me, from the smoke salmon, to the taco dorado and the creamy clam chowder

Yelp
Came here for $1.25 oyster night on Thursday! Really solid and fresh oysters. The ladies behind the counter were really nice and answered questions we had about the menu. You walk in, order at the counter and they give you a number to take with you to your table. They bring you your order and that's it. A pretty straightforward establishment! Parking is around the corner and we had no issues finding any spots. We've come once before and had their fish and chips, fish tacos and their shrimp plates. I recommend the fish and chips

Yelp
Easy parking, order at the counter and pick a seat, the staff will bring your food to you. Open air seating, which is nice option to have in the summer. The crabcake I ordered was good, and the horseradish remoulade was delicious. Not a big fan of it coming out on a few pieces of meh lettuce however. The miss for me was the onion rings, they were huge and in an almost hush puppy batter that was really thick in some spots and nicely crisp in others, but oily. Fish stew was delicious.

Yelp
I am a huge fan of this place. The fish is so fresh you might have to smack it. I take the fish home and cook it myself. My only suggestion is find a way to decide who is next for ordering.
google avatar

Yelp
Great vibe for a local joint. Menu is very customizable and where else can one substitute fries for salad or rice bowl lol? Dog friendly patio with an awesome selection of local beers on draft. It's mostly self service but they are still very attentive in turning over tables
google avatar

Yelp
Great place to catch a game and eat solid seafood. Things you should know: I. PARKING There's a small, free lot. Easy. II. SERVICE You simply order and pay at the register. They give you a number and bring out your food. The beverages are self-serve. III. QUALITY The tacos taste great! The ceviche? Not-so-good. The avocado wasn't fresh and impossible to cut through. IV. CAPACITY Fair amount of seating for a Sunday evening.
google avatar

Randall T.

Yelp
Great local fish. I had the fresh yellowtail with slaw and fries. Super tasty and well prepared Selection of local brews was great too. A lot of the patrons were locals getting takeout (which is always a great sign) Would definitely eat here again

Yelp
This is where we go directly from the airport! The fresh delicious amazing yummy tasty Fish tacos, salads, chowder & more! The service is always A+ and is locally run.. Wonderful place to have a drink with the friendliest servers! We go several times during our beach trips! If you want the BEST & Biggest fish taco head to the Point Loma Fish Shop.. You too will be a believer.

Yelp
This local SD spot is tasty! I love the ahi sandwich but everything I've ordered is on point. I usually stop by during a work lunch break so I'm unable to partake in spirits but on the less frequent occasions I go off duty and order a beer or vodka bev then it's much better! I also got a free hat the last time I was there.

Yelp
Just left there on a date with my husband. Food was decent. I came to the Fish Shop and ordered a fish plate for about $20. What I got was a tiny piece of fish that looked like half of a filet cut down the middle and was more like a sample than a full meal (was so upset I forgot to take a pic). I asked the cashier if this was normal, and she said it was 8oz but offered to have the manager take a look. I've eaten at the Pacific Beach location multiple times and always received more than enough food to the point sometimes I have a to-go box, so this seemed odd to me. I've even taken out of town guests to the other location and have never had to question the amount of food. The manager walked over and led with, "What's the problem?"--not "How can I help?" or anything remotely welcoming. I'm wondering if I was a different shade if her tone would've been different because it felt like I was bothering her and that she automatically assumed I was a problem. My husband, who is very chill and laid back picked up on her tone as well. That tone alone turned me off. She repeated the same explanation about the weight and offered to remake it. Remake what? If you she says that was 8 oz or whatever their weight is why are we remaking it? I didn't trust a remake, especially after her attitude and the fact that the portion didn't look like $20 worth of food anyway. I left feeling dismissed and unsatisfied. Do better.

Yelp
Average experience and OK food. We ordered the Shrimp Ceviche, Fish Shop Shrimp, Mahi Mahi grilled and fried tacos. Shrimp ceviche - it was pretty good but very skimpy amount of shrimp. I had to dig in the bowl to find a bite of shrimp! I doctored it up with lemon juice, Cholula, and ketchup to give it the spicy/sweet flavor. 6/10 due to not enough shrimp in the order. Fish Shop Shrimp - 10/10 best thing we ordered and the chipotle aioli dipping sauce is delicious The tacos - worst thing we ordered. The mahi mahi was extremely dry, even the fried mahi had the same super dry texture. I didn't even eat the grilled one cause it was so bad. Avoid the tacos. Service is fine for a fast casual restaurant but they forgot my order so everyone was done eating by the time I got my food. Then they brought out the wrong order on top of that. I didn't ask for avocado on my tacos and I asked for my fried taco on flour tortilla and it came out on a corn tortilla. I think it ruined the whole taco for me honestly. They were pretty busy so maybe they were flustered in the kitchen? Not sure. But I'm not going to lie I was a bit hungover so it made the experience worse than usual. I'm sure there are better days and I'd come back to maybe try a different fish. Location is in a great spot for a quick outdoor lunch.

Yelp
So happy I found this place! We were in the mood for fish tacos and this spot did not disappoint. It was pretty busy for a Saturday afternoon, but we were able to get a table. Street parking was pretty easy in this area. Dogs are allowed on the patio. We ordered a mahi mahi and red snapper fish taco. One with fish shop seasoning and the other with chipotle. It comes with slaw, cheese, and pico on top. I wasn't a huge fan of the Mexican shredded cheese, but it wasn't a dealbreaker. We also got the red snapper plate with garlic butter, onion rings, and macaroni salad. The onion rings are huge! And their batter is different than most onion rings. It's airy and when you bite into it, there's that nice crunch. Their batter is also very flavorful! Macaroni salad was a perfect pair with the fish. Even though it felt like a lot of food, it didn't weigh us down all day and give us a good coma. Pretty light and satisfying! Will come back.
google avatar

Cerah N.

Yelp
I always get a scallop taco and then one of the specialty tacos (make sure to look at the specials not listed on the menu board). Fishorizo taco has been a favorite lately. I prefer this location to Pacific Beach because it is less busy. The service is quick and the ambiance is very casual with tv's usually playing a sports game.

Yelp
These are the best coconut shrimp! Happy hour is a great value too! Bar and wait staff service is excellent! Love the casual relaxed interior and bar seating too! Great value. Plenty of free parking! Try once and it will become your regular spot!

Arlene M.

Yelp
I love this place. Whether you're buying fresh fish to cook at home or prepared food to take out or eat in, you can count on 100% satisfaction. Don't come here if you're looking for a bargain because it's a little pricey but worth every dollar!
google avatar

Aserrado M.

Yelp
Upon arrival I was pleased to find parking; this part of town is always tough. We walked up to the front counter and ordered Fish & Chips, Shrimp & Chips, 2 dozen mixed oyster varieties, Calamari, and some drinks. The girl at the counter was very courteous and knowledgeable. We ordered then went and sat down. The place was nicely decorated and clean. I also used the restroom, which was clean as well. Service was great, the food was great, and my experience there was great! No complaints here. Thank you Fish Shop for a job well done!

Yelp
If you're in San Diego and didn't get seafood or Mexican, did you even go at all? Try out Point Loma Fish Shop to get your seafood fix. A fast casual style restaurant (with the prices of a full service sit down restaurant), you order at the bar and they will bring your food out to you. Two of us ordered a large sampling of things because our eyes are bigger than our stomachs. -Spicy dorado taco: is this the best fish taco I've ever had? No. But it's also not the worst. It was filled with a healthy amount of fish and slaw with a decent sauce. Not sure if it deserves to be called "spicy" but I accept that everyone has a varied tolerance for heat -Onion rings: not too sweet, not too salty. fried to perfection. Order these. A "small" is more like a medium-large and could serve 3-4 people -Shrimp lumpia: I'm Filipina and a pescatarian so I was very excited to see lumpia on the menu that didn't have pork in it. That being said, I would not call this lumpia. It is a tasty shrimp egg roll in a flaky wrapper and served with rice, but that's all. The filling was moist but had no traditional lumpia shanghai flavor -Clam chowder: above average because I could actually see and taste the clams. Get it in a bread bowl, you won't be disappointed Ambience is a cross between a sports restaurant and a beach side bar. Seating is split between indoors and outdoors with a mix of high tops and regular height tables, plus the patio is dog friendly! Parking is on the street but was pretty easy to find a nearby spot on Cañon. Located in a cute, walkable area with nearby coffee shops and small batch ice cream spots.

Yelp
The atmosphere is very relaxed and welcoming. I've never had any dish here that wasn't great, especially the smoked salmon sandwich. Delicious! I also personally love the pay first and eat second situation. The employees are also very nice.
google avatar

Julio H.

Yelp
This is the place to get fish tacos. This place looks deceiving, but the seafood is excellent. Most places only serve fried fish, but not this place. They have a great selection. I have a minor issue with ordering at a counter and tipping before I get the food. The place is like a bar that cooks incredible fish. I don't think I would go there for drinks; I would go for the food and have a beer. The restaurant is primarily outside-ish, has little setting, and could get packed. Try the grilled shrimp; it's probably the best I have ever had. I have been there twice and would go back again and again.

Yelp
Beautiful day to order seafood outside of Point Loma marina. The shrimp was plump and tender and the fries were hot and crispy. Fresh coleslaw rounded out the platter. Seafood sauce, packets of malt vinegar and tartar sauce were available to complement the shrimp, fish and fries. I think the tartar sauce had a hint of Green Goddess dressing which gave it a little kick. The only complaint was bold seagulls and the lemonade machine wasn't functional so Dr. Pepper had to do.
google avatar

Yelp
Food is fresh and always tasty. Service is usually quite good. Ambience is beautiful with an ocean view .

Yelp
Fast and fresh! Order at the counter then have a seat. We had tacos and soup ( fish shop and clam chowder) I had the Pineapple Express taco that was both sweet and spicy. My hubs had the elote taco. Both were very good. Option of flour or corn shell. The chowders were equally good. The fish shop chowder had sausage as well as fish in it. Our food came out fast. Lots of seating inside and on open air patio. Full service bar. Very casual atmosphere and seemed to be frequented by locals.

Yelp
I look forward to coming here every thursday when I am in SD because of the $1.25 oysters that start at 4pm. I like this location because there is a decent parking lot and a lot lower key than the PB location- which if I'm not there at that location by 5ish the wait can often be 30+ mins (except recently when an influencer posted this location and oysters were gone within the hour- so get here early!!!!). I love that they have a selection of oysters and they are not tiny, skimpy ones like a lot of HH oyster places. I also appreciate they have a little bio on all the oysters so you know what to expect- and they change oyster selections pretty often. Mignonette is good too- wish they gave more though hehe. My boyfriend and I also always get the clam chowder (he gets the house chowder- which is the same as the clam chowder but with sausage). We also get the HH house lager. Our favorite thursday treat! While I'm glad the influencer boosted customers for this location, hopefully there will still be oysters on thursdays because it can be hard to get out of work and there by 4pm!

Yelp
Expensive food and small portions, especially compared to other fish shops in the area. I ordered a salmon plate and fish and chips. The salmon was delicious, cooked well, and fresh, but for the price I just wish there was more of it! I got two small pieces of fish and for the price I just can't justify getting it again, no matter how delicious it was. The fish and chips were just ok, this was a bigger portion for sure but the fish and fries were both a bit dry. The service was excellent and I love the sports bar ambience there! Overall, the food here is great, but the portion sizes and prices are not the best.

Yelp
Quick service. Got a spicy margarita which was great. Poke bowl was so refreshing and delicious. Fish shop shrimp were so flavored- just a tad too charred as it impacted the flavor but overall good meal

Yelp
Amazing swordfish. Highly recommended. Also great pasta salad offered as a side option

Yelp
Best fish and chip we've ever had and we enjoyed the fried calamari and jalapeños as well

Yelp
Not sure what's going on here? I've given this restaurant high reviews. I hate to hit a local place- I'm walkable to it, but just a terrible experience tonight. ( and last time I brought several people didn't review but was similar) How can you serve soggy cucumbers, borderline moldy tomatoes, and browning salad. Maybe because it's a Monday leftovers? But for $50 just for myself and no drinks not happy. I guess the good news was the fish still tasted fresh, which is the main reason I come here, but wasn't happy tonight. Please do better I don't want to cross you off list.

Yelp
We were here for my husband's birthday lunch. He wanted to find something close to a brewery, in an area we hadn't visited for a while. After a bit of research, he decided on Point Loma Fish Shop because we'd be able to walk to Eppig afterwards. They weren't very busy when we arrived. I got us a menu to review so I could go in to place our order while he stayed outside with the pup. My husband wanted the swordfish sandwich on sourdough ($16.75); I got the blackened shrimp & chips ($17.50) and we got an order of onion rings to share ($8.25). The guy at the counter pointed out the areas that were pet-friendly, and we wrangled the mongrel in to settle down to wait for our food. Everything came out quickly. There were quite a few shrimp on my plate, and the blackened seasoning was super spicy - spicier than I'd expected, and spicier than any other blackened seasoning I'd previously had. I wasn't able to finish them all because of that. And y'all, I like spicy things! My husband enjoyed his sandwich, but I could tell he wasn't blown away by it. I didn't want him to regret his lunch spot choice, so I offered to get him something else, but at that point he was eager to head to the brewery and not all that interested in trying a different plate. He did say the sandwich was "okay" but again, nothing to go back for. There were quite a few people working that day, despite the fact that they weren't very busy at that moment, but really only one of the staff made it a point to be friendly or welcoming. She at least went out of her way to check in on us, to ask us if we needed anything, to interact with the puppy. I'm glad she was working that day.

Yelp
If you're looking for a fish taco and beer, just a nice down to earth place to relax and enjoy. Nothing fancy but the Point Loma location on the corner with the low key atmosphere, open air seating and easy going regulars reminds of old San Diego. That said besides the fish, one the better onion rings in town.

Yelp
Great neighborhood joint with great food and drinks. Street front with views. Order at the bar and take a seat. Happy hour between 3-6 pm. Lots of beer selection and food options. Food is made to order and fresh. Staff are attentive, friendly and quick. Definitely the spot to be at. Highly recommend and will return.

Yelp
Came here from an Instagram reel advertising $1.25 oysters on Thursdays (til sold out), with oysters sourced from Baja California, Virginia, and Mexico. Got 2 dozen and a fish and chips to share. The oysters were not cleaned well; lots of sand and small shell pieces with each mouthful. 2 kinds of the oysters were overly salty and difficult to eat; 2 were just ok. Fish and chips was decent, brings the 1/5 oyster rating to a 3/5 for the establishment. Big chunks of fish paired with shoestring fries. - Small parking lot with street parking - Has a bathroom - Ample indoor and outdoor seating - Service and workers were nice even during dinner rush

Yelp
Fish Shop in Point Loma. Came for lunch. Dodged the rain. We ordered Fish and chips, bowl of clam chowder, crab cake, and kids chicken fingers. - Fish and chips, good portion or beautifully fried delicate white fish. Good flavor, fries are decent. - Crab cake, again, good size. Lump crab meat inside. Tasty. Fried really nicely. Came with a nice caramelized onion horseradish sauce. I usually don't care for horseradish but this was not over powering at all. Clam chowder, very tasty, big chunks of potato and clam. Served with oyster crackers All in all I thought everything was good and would definitely return.

Yelp
Great service. Great location. People are relaxed and happy because the food is so good. BEST ONIONS ever I've tried. This place has something for any fish lover, everything was delicious and the sauces were so excellent to the meal. I got a sandwich. I am coming here every time I am Here. The seasoning just hits the spots. It was a nice a sunny day, perfect for dogs too. 5/5

Yelp
Came here before New Years for their Thursday $1.25 Oyster special and I regret that decision. I got bad food poisoning from it. I've had my fair share of oysters in the US and internationally this is my first time getting sick from it. They must have gotten a bad batch because others are reporting similar experiences around the same time at their Pacific Beach location as well. Stay clear of SD fish shop and its other location for oysters. Their other food is fine tho. Also if you get their happy hour cocktails, make sure they ring it up correctly. I had to tell the cashier twice the drink was $6, not $9. Their point of sale system makes employees jump through hoops to ring up HH prices.

Yelp
The best fish & chips I've had so far in San Diego County! Four nice fat pieces of fresh cod perfectly battered, hot, and crispy. The fish to batter ratio was perfect, unlike many place that put a skinny piece of fish inside a super thick batter. They're served with tasty tartar and cocktail sauces, and malt vinegar is available at the table. The fries were nothing special, but were reasonably hot and almost crispy enough. Their fast service and excellent, diverse selection of local beers on tap were icing on the cake.
