I had the pleasure staying at this resort for a competition.there was a restaurant called point Royal where you dine in for breakfast or dinner but I just went for breakfast. There is a very helpful beautiful spirit, beautiful smile hard worker and breath of fresh air waitress by the name of Fiona, that made our breakfast experience so wonderful. She is a very hard worker, she made sure everyone was ok if there was any request she made sure that they was taking care of in a timely manner. They had her working all over the restaurant but she made sure all of her customers was taking care of. We experience another waiter that we had to ask numerous times for different things that we needed and sometimes didn't get. A lot more of the other waiters and waitresses should take notes from Fiona!!!....

We stayed at the resort and ate breakfast here every morning. The buffet had everything you could want. Literally. I genuinely enjoyed everything I tried. Also . . . orange juice, water, coffee, and espresso were included with our breakfast. The best part was the staff. Everyone we encountered was above and beyond spectacular!

Google
We waited almost an hour for breakfast. When we got seated, it was obvious why we waited that long. There was very limited staff. Numerous empty tables and multiple tables that needed clearing. The food was good, but we were only able to order off a limited menu due to there being a buffett. Our server was good, but obviously had too many tables to provide great the quality of service we would expect for a $70 tables for two people ... no alcohol.... we will definitely do the grab and go next time.

Google
AMAZING PLACE! Very professional and friendly staff! Especially Harry and Fiona! The food is excellent ..Fresh and tasty! We absolutely love the breakfast and the lunch! Do not hesitate to stop here .. A GEM🙏❤️

Google
Food quality did not equal price point. It took over thirty minutes after ordering for our food and it was not busy in the restaurant at all. Breakfast burrito was underwhelming to say it most politely.

Keith Elkins

Google
Mediocre brew last at best with limited choices. Unfortunately the service is more pretentious than skills but they are friendly for sure. $7 for an bottles come? Come on. The coastal breakfast is good, but $26. Overall I wished there was a off hotel place that was close

Google
Excellent food and ambiance. Our waiter Paul was outstanding and delivered an excellent dining experience. The Fried Calamari with garlic aioli is a must have when going as a starter. The Grouper and Hanger steak was amazing. Truly enjoyed our anniversary dinner visiting here. Thanks Paul!

Barbara Taylor

Google
The food is good, the staff is friendly, the atmosphere is relaxing. Plan on spending a long time here. It goes at a very slow pace. We needed to keep asking for more water and coffee. There was a lunch special that wasn't mentioned. There is room for improvement.

Yelp
Fantastic Food and Even More Fantastic Service!! The food was only delicious but fresh as well. In addition to this the service was excellent a had the pleasure being served by a wait staff member named Fiona! She not only was more than polite when above and beyond in making our experience one to remember. Whether it was constantly checking on us to ensure we were filled up on any table items such as beverages or going the extra step and getting us food items that weren't available on the buffet, Fiona ensure we had a truly fantastic experience!! Please request Fiona she's great and adds a completely unique experience to dinning at Point Royal

Brian C.

Yelp
Amazing food but even more amazing waitress. Please request Fiona!!!! She is very passionate and offers great service! Extremely nice and offers help and assistance and anyway she can. I even in fact will be returning tomorrow morning without a voucher just to be able to be served by her again!!

Liz S.

Yelp
I hate to leave negative reviews, but we had absolutely TERRIBLE service when we came to Point Royal for breakfast. We had to practically harass our waiter to give us water, take our order, and get the check. The food was subpar. I was a bit disappointed with the entire experience. I don't think I will be coming back here again.

Yelp
While at the Diplomat Beach Resort we had breakfast at their Point Royal restaurant. Point Royal is a favorite restaurant amping the Diplomat guest. It's known for the well stocked weekend Buffet as well as the lunch menu. The burgers are big and juicy and the fries are seasoned just right! On day three Florencia was our waitress and she was awesome. She brought our fresh hot coffee and decedent tasty sunrise and pineapple mimosas. There are usually an over abundance of weekend guest so come early to avoid the w

Yelp
Delicious breakfast!! Staff is so friendly and food is great. The hangover sandwich is amazing

Megan D.

Yelp
Loved the breakfast buffet! I ended up eating here with my kids every morning by of vacation because it was the best and quickest option. We all loved the food each day, and I loved the attentive staff and great selection of food. Highly recommend if staying at the Diplomat.

Lauren L.

Yelp
Jennifer treated us like family, we enjoyed our stay and eating at this lovely restaurant each morning. thank you!

Richard C.

Yelp
The breakfast buffet has a lot of food items, but they generally were not appetizing and very pricey. They automatically add the 20% tip just to provide 1 cup coffee and juice! Not worth it!

Eric W.

Yelp
First thing first. This business doesn't even own this particular Yelp page. The food is 110% different from whatever this Yelp page is saying. I would not recommend this spot to anyone. We wasted a meal here thinking the food was great like the photos. The service also sucked, the food was horrible and overcooked. Although it's inside a hotel, I promise you try another spot.

Yaimara C.

Yelp
The food was tasteless and old. The buffet cheese was full of flies laying there for a while , I should have taken a picture .Super unsanitary and way overpriced . Will not come back during the remained of my stay at the diplomat . I don't mind paying for good food but $92 for two kids and one adult breakfast it's too expensive for this type of food. This restaurant has a problem with flies . Extremely disgusted .

Lexi M.

Yelp
We were staying at this hotel and we're wanting to try this restaurant for breakfast and they day we decided to try it out was buffet day. They had a TON of hot and cold options! Build your own omelette, pancakes, waffles, bacon, sausage, toast, bagels, yogurt, cheese, ham, you name it! The service was amazing!!!

Rino L.

Yelp
If you're staying at the hotel I guess it's worth it. But $34 for a buffet of omelette, bacon, sausage, waffles, etc is a bit steep. Still the service was very good. Lovely place, nice food, next to the beach. The warning should have been the Lamborghini and the Bentley parked out front. If it was an out of this world experience then maybe worth the $90+ bill for two people for eggs would have been worth it. Would I go back? Nah.

Daniel B.

Yelp
Food was good, but the service was terrible. The waiter went around and provided coffee refills to all the tables with white people, but being the only black person in the area I had to wait and ask for coffee. Never again!! Extremely racist place

Katie D.

Yelp
Had breakfast at point Royal. The buffet was great. The service was even better. Flor was amazing, such a pleasure.

H Maria R.

Yelp
Hanai is the kindest, most welcoming hostess I've met and a true treasure at The Diplomat. She is a rising star with Hilton and should recognized. Morning breakfast buffet is great. Huberto, our server, is the best. He gave us the history of this property and made our breakfast extra special. Can't wait to do it all over again!

Elise H.

Yelp
Point Royal had an amazing buffet, the food was fresh and delicious. Flor was our server and she was so attentive and helpful. We will definitely be back tomorrow.

Rachel S.

Yelp
20% gratuities are already added. Our waitress Flor knew this and didn't give a rats behind about service clearly. We waited about 10 minutes at least for her to just come over at all. When she did she said "ready". No greeting other than that. We ordered right away. No drinks were brought over at all. I had to ask for beverages 20 min after. Our food took a good 20/25 additional minutes to come out. When the food came out by a food runner they didn't bring out one of the meals. No one from the staff even realized this. She never came to see how the food was so by the time we were able to flag her down the rest of our party was almost done eating. They finally brought out the last dish, no apology and didn't bring the sauce on the side that we asked for. After all of this we again had to flag her down for the bill, the 20% gratuity was already added. She was one of the worst servers we have ever had. It wasn't just our table, the table next to us stated they could have driven to miami for lunch and it would have been faster than this. I have to agree with that. This was an extremely disappointing way to start our trip at this resort. Food was decent but service made it a nightmare.

Joseph K.

Yelp
Latoya went out of her her way to help me. She was fun and delightful. Give her a raise.

Joseph A.

Yelp
The food was good, and the service was even better! Florencia was amazing, friendly and accommodating to my dietary restrictions.

Joyce B.

Yelp
My husband and I were here for our farewell breakfast. The breakfast buffet was top notch! The service was amazing from the hostess all the way into the restaurant. Our waitress Lorin was probably the best server we have come across. Lorin even spoke to us at the hostess stand as we were walking by one day before we even ate there. It was actually Lorin and Hanaia (hope I spelled it correctly) who helped us decide to eat there. Both were genuinely kind and engaged us in great conversation. The restaurant was clean with the option to eat inside or outside. Had a great experience! Ask to sit in Loin's section.

Ashley G.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING. Servers are absolutely wonderful and super attentive. The buffet option for breakfast is the absolute best I've ever seen. 5 star experience all around. Beautiful setting and very clean. We had Fiona as a server and she was the sweetest person alive. If you are in Hollywood, this is a must see and eat spot!!!

Chris V.

Yelp
Lovely atmosphere and our waitress, Florencia, was top notch and sweet. Ask to sit in her section.

Neda G.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant with great service! We had the breakfast buffet and our server kept coming back for coffee and juice refills and attended to all our needs. Will definitely go back.

Evelyn D.

Yelp
We were waiting for the pool to open at the Diplomat (it opens at 9am), and decided to kill time by sitting down at the Diplomat's sit down breakfast restaurant. Sitdown places are always a little intimidating with kids, but it didn't seem too busy and my six year old usually sits still well enough. They sat us down quickly and had a kids menu available. Our server was extremely nice and the other servers were just as nice. They offered continental breakfast as well as separate breakfast items and the items are priced comparably to a room service price (which is not available at this hotel right now by the way). I had the oatmeal which included fruit and granola and my daughter had the waffles for kids which was delicious (yes, I tried some). The coffee by the way was incredible! I tried the flavored coffee! The ambience is extremely warm and the vibe is calm and tropical. We really enjoyed this overall experience and will probably come back. I highly recommend to at least give it a try while staying at the resort!

Yelp
I stayed at The Diplomat for a work conference and visited Point Royal for lunch in between sessions. I loved the aesthetic of the restaurant - it's decorated beautifully (gives me West Elm vibes) and it's very open and airy. The menu leans heavily seafood, which isn't my favorite but they had some other tasty items to choose from as well. I had the turkey cobb salad and it was delicious. Everything was fresh and paired together perfectly. My fiancé had the club sandwich with fries (which I swiped a bunch of) and he really enjoyed his meal as well. The servers were attentive and checked in on us to make sure everything was prepared correctly and tasting great - highly recommend if you're staying at The Diplomat or in the area and looking to try something new!

Yelp
2/9/2019 - FRIEND'S BIRTHDAY DINNER CELEBRATION Arrived at the beautiful Diplomat Hotel for 7pm dinner reservations. Valet parking with restaurant validation was only $5. I met my friend's inside the restaurant. Point Royal is an indoor-outdoor Coastal American by celebrity chef Geoffrey Zakarian. We sat on a round table of six. The area we sat in didn't have the best view. Our server, Paul was the nicest. He was warm, personable and recommended dishes for the table. After looking at their extensive menu, I chose from the Simply Grilled menu and went with the Local Black Grouper, 5oz. ($24). The dishes do not come with any sides. All sides are extra. I ordered the Broccolini ($8). According to Paul, these are shareable sides. When my side came out, to me, was not a shareable side. The fish was very plain tasting. The Broccolini was smothered with butter, so much so, I had to send it back. The manager apologized and they brought me a fresh one, with just lemon and salt. After dinner, I spoke to my sister who had the special of the evening, the whole fish ($44, no sides) and was disappointed as well with the flavor. My other friend who ordered the Point Royal Ugly Burger, no bun, mentioned that it lacked flavor and the patties were pretty small for the price ($19). Overall, the food I had this visit left me hungry and underwhelmed. On the other hand, Paul, our server was wonderful. Disappointed since it was my friend's big 40th birthday. I hope she at least enjoyed it.

Yelp
Florencia was the best server. Ask for her-as she will make your experience enjoyable and pleasant. Food was very good too:)

Lissette D.

Yelp
Great experience at point royal. not many options at the diplomat. but point royal's buffet was great. plenty of options. Flor was amazing. great service.

Sarah J.

Yelp
We were staying at The Diplomat hotel for a week and we went to Point Royal for both weekend buffets and weekday ala carte meals. The food choices are okay. We weren't told on the first day that we had the option to order an omelette of our choice on buffet days. We ordered it thrice. The kitchen is slow, but the omelettes turned out well 2/3 times (once it was too salty). Ambience is really nice. The place isn't too big but feels spacious. The servers seem extremely busy. One (weekend) day I sat for 10 mins before they could take my omelette order. However there is one person there - Jacob - who really made it feel like a 4+ star hotel. He went out of his way to get me Whipped cream from the kitchen (quite promptly!) and the next day he got me napkins when my server seemed too busy. He's an asset to the team and would be the reason I give the place 4 stars.

Joseph R.

Yelp
A big thank you to Hanai for helping make the most out of a recent business breakfast at Point Royal. We were seated in a private room allowing us to engage and enjoy our guests. Our server Flor was always there with a smile ready to make sure my team and our guests had everything they needed for a great meal. Looking forward to my next visit.

Yelp
I have to say that happy hour here was fantastic. We had reservations for dinner but came early to have a few oysters and a few drinks before dinner. I absolutely love oysters. Their oysters were really perfectly shucked. They were very clean and slipped right out of their shells. Dinner was pretty good we started with the Grilled Spanish Octopus, Ricotta Dumplings and New England clam chowder. I really loved the Ricotta Dumplings, it was in a creamy tangy lemon sauce with chunks of crab meat. The New England clam chowder was pretty interesting. It was not the thick type of soup that I normally would have. It really had a much fresher flavor you can actually taste the cream and clams. Then we ordered their cornmeal Crusted FL Snapper, Pomegranate Glazed Short Ribs. The short ribs were really tender and tasty. The Snapper was ok. Their sides come separately we ordered brussel sprouts and parmesan crusted potatoes. Everything was very good. Definitely coming back here again especially for happy hour.

Alissa W.

Yelp
Closed the diplomat is not open they should update all restaurants so people are aware.

Clarissa K.

Yelp
I had this bookmarked for awhile after a work colleague told me how great it is. Being like minded foodies I thought this place was going to be a slam dunk. I had made reservations on open table that were confirmed by a phone call from the restaurant the day before. Our out of town guest arrived before us. We sat and chatted outside the restaurant and got caught up. However we wanted a drink so we entered the restaurant. Sorry I did not video as this is too hard for me to believe but not only would they not seat us 3 minutes early at a table or the bar. The hostess actually was very abrasive. So we left and went to the hotel bar for awhile. We returned later and was seated at a table for 4. This was after they told us about raw bar items for happy hour in the bar area. Two of us had the bench on the booth side and the gentleman the chairs. We ordered a bottle of wine to start. The waitress lacked the service skills and knowledge regarding the fish in a seafood restaurant. Therefore we were solely guided by the menu. There were no specials. After much prodding we learned the fish of the day was snapper. I ordered the scallops that claimed were from Massachusetts however my dining companion believed it was Maine as he is from that region. I at this point had more faith in his background in seafood than the menu. They were served as 4 good size however even after I ordered sides of potatoes and brussel sprouts I was still hungry. We all ordered desserts and after dinner drink.i had the chocolate pudding. The desserts they slowly but surely came but not my drink. At that point I gave up in frustration of a lackluster meal and service.

Bret I.

Yelp
I loved dinner here. But this review is about brunch. It's unfathomable to me that the only restaurant in the hotel that serves a full breakfast ONLY serves it buffet style. You can not order off an a la carte menu. The only other breakfast option is "Counter Point" next door. It's a walk up counter where an egg sandwich will cost you $13 and coffee $4 or more. So what does the buffet cost? $35 per person. That's a lot of money for eggs. I ate there because a bellman told me it was $25. That's not cheap, but I figured it'd be nicer to have a meal than pay at least $17 for a sandwich and coffee. The food that I had was pretty good. The omelette station made a large, tasty omelette. And they had delicious lox with capers and onions to go with their bagels (not NY style bagels, but they were very good). And the meal comes with OJ and a hot drink. But if the ridiculous price is issue #1, then here's issue #2: an 18% gratuity is automatically included. Know what that means? That your waiter will likely be difficult to find and inattentive. At least mine was, forgetting things that I'd asked him for and disappearing at one point for a really long time. And to top it off? There is an additional line on the receipt for a tip, presumably for those who didn't pay attention that 18% was already included. So the food is worth 3 stars, but price and service rate 0. And take a look at the picture of my coffee pot. You'd think that for a $45 breakfast they'd at least give me a pot that doesn't look like it's been banged around the kitchen for years.

Yelp
1/31/18 Update: We were absolutely blown away by the hospitality shown by the General Manager, Jaime. She invited us for a family dinner, and the food and staff were definitely amazing and on-point. We were immediately greeted and shown to a lovely booth. We started with two cocktails, a Sidecar for my husband and a Tommy's Margarita for me. I asked that they Replace the tequila with vodka and they happily oblige. This margarita is very memorable, and I've had it here before. The ingredients used create a magical margarita flavor that is truly unlike no other margarita. It's obviously made in-house, and I will forever love this drink! For apps we shared: Crispy Crab Croquettes: balls of fried crab heaven with a creamy dipping sauce. We really enjoyed these! Ricotta Crab Dumplings: think of a homemade pasta stuffed with crab and ricotta. These were decadent, but not our favorite. Octopus Salad: holy flavor! The bold cilantro, mint, and parsley mixed with the spiciest pepper slivers and charred octopus pieces were delightful. I could eat this literally every day. For dinner, my husband had the scallops. He said they were among his favorite scallop dishes. They were so pretty, I even took 2 photos! Haha My mom and I shared the pomegranate glazed short ribs, and the cornmeal crusted snapper. I didn't think the short ribs would be as good as they were, but I was impressed. They were flavorful, and had a wonderful demi glaze on top that added more richness. Yum! The snapper was solid, but nothing over the top or too memorable. My dad enjoyed his grilled Black Grouper, and did not offer to share! Dessert was an amazing Caramelized Pineapple Monkey Bread. I want this now as I'm typing this review! It was so good! Our server, "D", was so sweet. She was there when we needed something, and never left us without anything. Her service was greatly appreciated, and she was lovely and professional. Happy Hour, or Oyster Hour as they call it, is M-F from 5:30-7:30. They are also open for lunch and dinner (and I think even breakfast too). Come check it out! ------------ The first time here, was a great visit. We had an answer server, Michael, who is an older gentleman. He was professional, and enhanced out experience! We tried the poke, a crudo special, a couple of oysters, and some cocktails. The Margarita is actually noteworthy- I'm not sure if they make their sour mix in-house, or just buy the best of the best, but my god is it good! Fast forward to today, 1/26/18. I have been telling my parents how great this place is, so we decided to make the journey here for lunch today. It's definitely not a close selection, as we traveled from the Coral Springs area to come. After the parking garage ticket machine was out of tickets, which was fun, we finally made it. Upon entering, the hostess immediately informed us that they were not seating as they were fully booked for a private event. That sucks! But, I understand and could look over that. What happened after this, was APPALLING. I simply asked the hostess to validate our $18 parking as we were leaving to find another lunch option. Reasonable request since we can't dine here, right? The hostess was nice. She told me to hold on so she could ask her manager, standing 4 feet away. The manager was SO RUDE to the hostess and my family and I. She responded to the hostess (keep in mind, I'm standing right there looking the manager in the eye), "tell them that we don't validate if they don't eat here". The hostess was visibly embarrassed- this was not OK. Hello! How can we eat here if it's booked? Just validate the ticket so we can be on our way. Again, "we don't validate if you don't eat here- since we cannot accommodate you, why don't you go grab something to eat from the pool bar so they might validate you". So unacceptable. She should NOT work in customer service. I then walked over to the sweetest concierge lady, Charlie, and explained what happened. She apologized profusely even though it wasn't even her fault. She then walked us out to the valet, and got a special card for us so that we can leave the garage without having to pay. It's employees like that who deserve recognition. I'm not sure if I'll be returning again to Point Royale after this nightmare-ish interaction with the manager on duty today. How unprofessional and off-putting.

Cindy S.

Yelp
My boyfriend was surprised me with a weekend stay at your hotel for my birthday in November 2022. Both mornings, we ate at the Point Royal Restaurant for breakfast. It was the most amazing buffet breakfast, and the service from a particular Ms. Lorin made it even better. She was amazing. She was very attentive and humorous and sweet. Although there were a lot of people in the restaurant, she made us feel like we were the only ones there. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I will definitely be back. Thank you Point Royal and Ms. Lorin.

Niyam B.

Yelp
We had Florencia as our waiter and she made the experience! Overall great food and experience!

Bill Z.

Yelp
I came here twice while staying at the Diplomat for a convention, once for the hotel's breakfast buffet, and once for dinner. For the price you pay here, you expect the service to be exceptional, even for a buffet, and it is. The breakfast buffet is $29, and I have to ask myself exactly what do you get which justifies that kind of price? There are a few things here you can get that you might not get elsewhere, but they're mostly specially crafted egg dishes or yogurt concoctions. There is typically a line at the omelet station. The variety of fresh fruit is a plus. For dinner I had the black grouper and Brussels sprouts. The grouper is a 5 oz. portion, which is about the size of half my palm, on a bed of greens. The Brussels sprouts were quite tasty, and these are something I believe every restaurant in the hotel does well (Monkibar does too). We had some confusion about some happy hour drink prices. Evidently you actually have to order them at the bar, you can't order those at your table. Everything was good, but at a price point consistent with the rest of the prices at the Diplomat.

Anisha W.

Yelp
We visited yesterday evening, while staying at The Diplomat. We've stayed at the hotel resort before and overlooked the restaurant, on our tight schedule! I wasn't rushing this time and discovered the restaurant. The restaurant is nice, very spacious and clean! It wasn't that busy, when I arrived. I ate at the bar. The bartender greeted me, right away. He took my drink order and explained the menu items to me, that I had a question about. I enjoyed my Italian Mule & my dinner! I ended up with 2 bartenders tending to me, towards the middle end. They were both pleasant, professional and attentive. The other staff passing by were also friendly. Great job, we'll definitely be back.

Jay T.

Yelp
Calling the restaurant has a message to book reservations through Open Table. So when I went online to Open Table, the menu pictures and descriptions sounded fantastic for what my party of three was looking for. We show up at 5:30pm and ask to sit at the raw bar. We were told that we don't have that anymore. Ok, so they seat us at a table. I ask about the happy hour specials and we are told we have to sit at the bar for that and it is from 6-7pm and again not what was listed on Open Table. The app that they tell customers to use. Then I ask about the happy hour menu and it is about four items and none of them are what we came in for. Just very poor management to not keep the menu updated on an app that you tell people to use. There are too many restaurants in the area to have to deal with bait and switch.

Yelp
If I were a tourist visiting Miami, and I was trapped inside one hotel for the duration of my visit, I've often thought I'd want that hotel to be the Fontainebleau, because I'd be captive in a place housing Hakkasan, Scarpetta, and Stripsteak. But this year, the Diplomat Hotel in Hollywood ("much-easier-to-reach-than-South-Beach") is giving Bleau a real run for my money. One of the reasons: Celebrity chef Zakarian's "Point Royal", which joins a well-reviewed steakhouse (Diplomat Prime) and a new high-end izakaya I'm eager to try (Monkitail). The Diplomat seems to have recognized how important "food tourism" has become to conventioneers and vacationers generally. And since Hollywood is much closer to home for me than SoBe, I'm all smiles. Arriving just before 7pm on a Saturday night, the valet line was a little long. I knew from the website that the restaurant offered complementary valet parking, but I opted to self-park across the street anyway (which I found out later was also free - cha-ching! ask hostess for a card to allow free exit). Another bonus: self-park lot had 2 electric car charger spots - yay! Having done a little research before my visit (thanks Yelp!), I knew I was going to start off with a Pina Colada. 2 words: "best ever". The pineapple is freshly juiced, and the drink was swimming with coconut that made this drink into an appetizer unto itself (or a pre-dinner dessert). My wife wanted some bubbles, and our amazing server Christina let her try from 2 by-the-glass options before deciding - nice! Given the quality of the ingredients and labor the bartenders put into the cocktails, to me they are a better buy than the wines by the glass ("wbtg", the least expensive of which was $14), but there are work-arounds: one is that from 5:30-6:30 you can get wbtg for $7, which is about 2/3 off some of the selections. The other is getting a bottle (decent sized list with several under $50... and also a Petrus for $2000, if you've just won the lottery or manage a hedge fund). Onto the food: so much to try, so little stomach. We started with some OYSTERS, which were fresh and had great presentation. The CRAB CROQUETTES were delicious: all crab, no detectible filler, great crust, and the dipping sauce was perfect. I want to stop right here and devote a separate paragraph to the GRILLED SPANISH OCTOPUS. I had just been in Madrid a month ago, and had some amazing octopus there - done right this dish is not chewy at all. The spanish octopus at Point Royal was BETTER than I had in Spain, and the dressing and the greens that go with it ensure that I would NEVER come back and not order this again. Just amazing! I want some right now. For breakfast. I'm not kidding. Moving to the main dishes, I went for what has emerged as the signature dish here, the LOBSTER ROLL. My wife went for the SCALLOPS. The richness of both of these dishes is hard to describe, and it's hard to pick a winner, but if you have a hearty appetite I think the lobster roll was a bigger bang for the buck. But those scallops just cut like butter and melted in the mouth. YUM. Another pause while a I devote a separate paragraph to the most unlikeliest of subjects: BRUSSELS SPROUTS. Really?! Brussels Sprouts?! YES!! I first discovered these vegetables could be prepared in a palatable way at Pubbelly years ago. Then I started buying them and making them regularly at home: mixed with bacon fat and finished with miso butter. So I have some cred here when I say that Zakarian's version blew. me. away. Do NOT visit without getting these! You can even get them for dessert, they are that good. Can you imagine: calling brussels sprouts, those bitter nasty things your mom used to force you to eat at Christmas dinner, THOSE things, good enough to eat for DESSERT?! Wow. I was out of room at this point, but used the 'separate dessert stomach' to try the creme brûlée (thanks spellcheck for adding those accents). It was a "bananas foster" version here, and it was top-notch - just delicious. Perfect finish to a great meal. So for it's accessibility (and free parking), service (attentive but not intrusive), ambiance (ceilings must be 50-feet tall), and all the criteria Zakarian uses as a judge on Chopped (presentation, taste...), I give Point Royal a solid 5 and say "welcome to the neighborhood".

Yelp
5 stars! I've been staying at the diplomat hotel and tried all the restaurants on site. Point Royal is my favorite. I was underwhelmed when we walked in and I didn't like the hummus and crackers they gave out, but once we got our food.... oh yeah. We shared a parpadelle pasta dish. It had asparagus, mushrooms and it was in Parmesan broth. Best part- in comes with a soft boiled egg. This is hands down the best pasta I've ever had. So creamy, yet fresh and light. Highly recommend! We also ordered 3 fish dishes. We ordered the salmon, which was absolutely delicious. Yummy fish, cooked perfectly. It comes with 3 color cauliflower florets and a cauliflower mash, along with raisins and capers. Trust me on this one. We also got the flounder. It was also delicious. Comes with a cold cuscus salad and labaneh. Really light and refreshing. We also got the branzino dish. Yet another delicious fish. For dessert we got the sour cherry meringue! So delicious! To sum up - it's really really good. The pasta and fish are amazing

Yelp
For a near-five-star hotel, this breakfast spot was underwhelming. Service was very slow despite the fact that there were not many patrons dining. Kitchen was extremely slow as well, and food was served lukewarm. Small menu that was overpriced for the portions.

Yelp
This was my second birthday dinner of my birthday weekend with five girlfriends and it did not disappoint. A few of us got there early to have a drink at the bar. We were shown where our table would be and told to take our time at the bar. They have a good happy hour from 5:30-7:30 with $9 cocktails, $6 well drinks, $4 beers, $2 off wine by the glass and some nice seafood deals. I had the Rose Sangria and it was delicious. About 20 minutes after we sat down at the bar our waiter, Paul, came over to introduce himself and tell me happy birthday. Very, very nice touch. Once almost everyone had arrived we made our way to the table and again Paul appeared instantly to give us menus and tell us the specials. I ordered the shrimp and anson mill grits. It is served with the shrimp head and tail on but he warned my ahead of time. They were very large shrimp and so tasty. The grits were super creamy with cheddar cheese, andouille sausage and pickled mushroom. I also tried someone's west coast oysters. Seriously the most flavorful oysters ever. One of the specials was whole fish and it was also delicious. Probably the favorite of the night. We ordered the crispy Brussels sprouts and broccoli as sides. The sprouts were great with candied pecans, mustard creme fraiche and green apples. The broccoli was unfortunately swimming in butter. Now it was some really tasty butter but just a little much. Paul was quick to get the chef to remake it without the butter. Paul brought out the black cherry merengue with a candle for dessert and made everyone sing. The dessert was unique but really good with ice cream, chocolate mousse and freeze dried merengue. The restaurant itself is beautiful. High ceilings with great light fixtures and lots of greenery. Paul said their weekend brunch is amazing so I will definitely be back to try that.

Yelp
Came to Point Royal for the besties birthday dinner. I've not been to the Diplomat on quite some time and they've done a really wonderful job with renovating the hotel overall. PR is inside the same building as the valet all the way in the back by their main bar, left side. They have a wonderful happy hour with various drinks and food items. We arrived early to take advantage of the happy hour drink prices before dinner. Specialty cocktails, $2 off all glasses of wine and specialty apps. Once all of our group arrived and were seated Paul came over and introduced himself. What a breath of fresh air. Wonderful server and a delight to our evening. He told us all about the celebrity award wining chef, the history of the restaurant and all of their delicious specials. I chose the west coast oysters and tomato and ricotta appetizer to start. The oysters were so fresh and I loved the sauces that came with them. The tomato, ricotta dish was so savory but I wish it came with the flatbread instead of the regular bread they served it with. I also had the tuna taretare dish which was divine. I loved the pairing with the radish, avocado and other fresh veggies - super refreshing. I also got a chance to try the Brussels sprouts side - who's doesn't love crispy Brussels?! For dessert we all shared their black cherry merengue which was interesting with the freeze dried merengue but still tasty. (After we sang happy birthday of course!) Overall, great dining experience with wonderful food and service. We'll surely be back.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast buffet! Omelettes made to order, fresh orange juice, biscuits and gravy, fresh fruit, sweet breads and a very tasty hash. Keen on service, our waitress Claudia, was exceptional! Friendly and nice, she worked hard to make us happy. The restaurant is clean, airy, and bright with views to the ocean. I really enjoyed my meal there and if in the area again, will definitely be back.

Yelp
We went here for breakfast and it was very good but pricey, they automatically add a high tip and they still ask for more tips on the receipt. The service was great and food was good really enjoyed it.

Yelp
Room service at the Diplomat is catered by Point Royal. We ordered a ceasar salad and a burgee the image is from the salad we received. Have no words to describe this.. old lettuce and parmasan shavings.. the croutons, anchovies and the dressing were all forgotten. The hamburger was average. We advised room service and they delivered a new salad that had a better presentation, but we sent everything back.

Yelp
This beautiful restaurant located in the hotel lobby of the diplomat hotel is a must try. I visited on a Friday afternoon for "oyster hour", the restaurants version of happy hour until 7:30pm. We sat at the main bar, but did check out the raw bar before grabbing our seats, where you'll find various oysters, crab and mussels on display for your selection. We ordered a few whites to sample being that this was our first time visiting. Ceviche, "ugly burger", oysters. The ceviche was fresh and light served with a square thick cracker. The oysters were delicious very fresh, served with cocktail sauce and melted butter with herbs. The burger was delicious as well great flavors although it was a little to greasy for my liking. Cocktail of choice was lavender martini and my guest chose a coke $6 ouch ! All in all the food was delicious and fresh. It is a little pricey but it is in the Diplomat so it is expected.

Yelp
Amazing restaurant! I have enjoyed breakfast at his location 3 times this week, their buffet is pretty decent. They have an omelette station and they are just cooked to perfection. The cooks are so very friendly! The buffet has a selection of fresh fruit, pastries (chocolate croissant is AMAZING) overnight oats with toppings on the side, egg sandwiches, waffles, bacon, sausage and the MOST delicious crispy potatoes! I honestly have no idea how they make those potatoes but they are perfectly crunchy on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside, they are sprinkled with salt, rosemary and I believe they have a bit of Parmesan sprinkled on them! Simply Divine! They have a separate station with a few salads and another one with smoked salmon with the respective accompaniments. They also have bagels and toast with a cereal station. This breakfast buffet is $35 per person wether you just eat the cereal and fruit or get the hot items it's all $35 and in my opinion well worth it! Only recommendation I have is to alternate so that you can offer waffles one day and pancakes the other day OR even better have the option of pancakes near the omelet station. As to service, the servers at this restaurant are just lovely and very attentive!! Love this place and will continue to dine here for breakfast for the remainder of my stay.
