Poke Burri Expands to Boston From Atlanta With Sushi Doughnuts | Eater Boston

"I learned that Poke Burri packages the world’s trendiest raw-fish dishes into one concept that began as a food stall in an Atlanta “food hallway.” The concept — which already has a location in Raleigh, North Carolina — is expanding via a franchising initiative from founder Seven Chang and is planning a forthcoming Boston restaurant. Its menu includes poke bowls and sushi burritos (available as preset or fully customizable with proteins like tuna, salmon, crab salad, and shrimp tempura, plus vegetables, toppings, and plenty of sauces), a selection of appetizers such as fried pork dumplings and spicy tuna nachos, and Instagram-ready items: sushi doughnuts (rice molded into a ring topped with salmon, tuna, or crab salad and sauce, sold large for $11 or regular for $5.50), a sushi pizza with a filled-roll “crust” and a triangular bed of rice, and a secret sushi corn dog consisting of deep-fried rice and crab salad served with three sauces. Eater has reached out for the Boston location’s address and opening timeline." - Dana Hatic

Google
Food is fresh, generous and expertly prepared. My take out salmon bowl was 1 pound, 6 ounces. Take out is more convenient than going on a busy night and waiting at a table. Atmosphere is pretty basic but clean. Ordered online and added brown rice ($2 extra for two bowls) but received the standard white rice. However, extra avocado was honored. Overall, a great healthy option that is a welcome addition to our community. Update: Owner provided VERY generous and unexpected compensation for the brown rice oversight. Service now rated 5 stars!

Google
Have been a customer here for years, and I have to say that the food is of fantastic quality, fair value and moderate cost, and the service is absolutely exceptional. I primarily see Susan when I drop by in person for lunch (normally I order through Uber Eats), and she is always friendly, bubbly, and very personable. Parking is a breeze here, and wait times (for food) is always short and the meals are fresh. Highly recommend Poke Burri Raleigh!

Google
I made my own poke bowl with tuna, crab salad, assorted vegetables, and eel sauce—it turned out great! It was flavorful, high in protein, and surprisingly affordable for what I got. The only slight disappointment was the crab rangoons; they tasted and were textured mostly like cream cheese. Calamari also seemed a bit dry. Otherwise, I throughly enjoyed the poke bowl.

Jeni B.

Google
The poke bowls are fresh, delicious, and healthful; the owner is very nice; and the restaurant is clean and cute. I'm happy to support this small local business.

Google
My kids treated me to this Different Kind Of Restaurant which they loved to eat at. After they helped me order my food from the many choices that they had on their wide variety of menu options, I totally enjoyed the meal which was very tasty, healthy and nutritious based on my choices. The service of the people working there is very friendly and the chef came out himself to make sure everything is going fine and asked if he can help in any way to make our meal enjoyable. Since he found out it was my birthday, he came out with the his staff members with a dough ice cream delicacy on the house accompanied by the singing of the happy birthday song. I had a great evening dinner at Poke Burri. 👍👌😋 - Sammy Benjamin

Google
I’m really satisfied with this place — it’s the best restaurant for me. Everything is always fresh, delicious, and consistently high quality. I’ll definitely keep coming back again and again.

Google
The best poke bowls in town!! The Fried Pork Dumplings are delicious, with the greatest dipping sauce. Our favorites are the salmon & tuna bowl and tangy crab & shrimp bowl - so full of flavors! The staff are super friendly; Chef/owner, Agus, always welcome & drop by to say ‘hi’. Always a great pleasure to dine at this restaurant!

Google
Such amazing fresh sushi bowls and the service is undeniably exceptional. The chef Agoose makes all the food fresh and quickly especially if you are on a quick lunch break. He assures all of his customers are pleased and truly cares for his customers. The whole team is beyond amazing. We eat here atleast once a week and all things we’ve ate are so delicious, especially the chef’s special side miso soup is to die for on a cool afternoon. Incredibly clean restaurant and very fresh food with incredible team serving its customers. 1 million percent recommend Poke Burri. If we could give 10 stars we would.

Yelp
We love this Poke place and I just had the burrito and like it as well. The food is fresh and plentiful and the flavors are better than any other Poke restaurants we've visited in the triangle. We drive from Holly Springs once or twice a month.

Yelp
I hadn't had lunch and it was almost dinner time so I went to ordering app at website and ordered dinner. 15 minutes later I was walking out with our dinner. I ordered a make your own bowl with the crispy tofu. Let me tell you if you haven't tried their crispy tofu, it's a must. The pieces are seasoned perfectly, the right bite size, and crispy without any oily taste. They are just bites of heaven. Then in the bowl with seaweed salad, eel sauce, other veggies and rice, it is just a satisfying meal that won't break your calorie budget or your wallet. I didn't finish mine but when I got home later that evening, one of my kids did. Hubby had a similar make your own bowl with salmon. He ate the whole thing. We started with the fried dumplings which are always good. I love the sauce that comes with. All in all a great dinner for two discerning poke bowl eaters.

Yelp
Haven't been to my beloved, Poke Burri, in a while. I had been craving a poke bowl though and theirs always hits the spot. It's so easy to place your order and pick up from here - I've never had an issue. I always get the Super Poke Bowl that has all of the meats and veggies. It's the best and can feed me two meals. The final cost is around $18, which feels steep but based on quality and amount of food you get is worth it to me.

Yelp
This is my favorite Poki place in Raleigh! I can't believe I've never reviewed them! I eat here at least twice a month, and I always build my own bowl or sushi roll, that they know me by my order. The owner is so nice, always speaks and the cashier/ waitresses are always very pleasant. The restaurant has booths and a couple of high top tables, they also have a couple of TV's that plays sports and some great music playing in the background! I don't have any pictures because as soon as I get home I devour my food. I have had the soup, the gyoza, the sushi doughnuts! Everything is fresh and delicious.

Yelp
I came here to satisfy my poke bowl craving and saw the great reviews at this place and wanted to check it out! The place itself is cute to ample amount of seating and when I was ordering, the lady helping me offered me water while waiting for my to go order to be finished which I thought was very kind of her. The order was done relatively quickly which I appreciated. I got the build your own bowl and it is definitely a great portion size as I couldn't even finish it. Everything in the bowl tasted amazing and fresh and it was well worth the price of it. Very glad I got to check this place out!

Yelp
We absolutely LOVE Poke Burri!! After trying just about every poke spot in North and Central Raleigh, we've decided Poke Burri is the only place for us! The fish is always fresh and well portioned. The toppings are plentiful and delightful. And the kind, friendly staff is an absolute joy to be around. And the very best part...Chef Agus is always wonderful to us. He is such a kind man who regularly takes a moment to come out and greet my wife and I. He is so very grateful for each of his customers! The whole experience makes us feel very special. We eat at Poke Burri at least once a month. And if we lived closer, it would honestly be more! If you're in the mood for a poke bowl or sushi burrito, just go. You can thank me later!

Yelp
Build your own bowls , very good with fresh ingredients! The staff is nice and the restaurant is always clean . Service is also quick !

Hattie J.

Yelp
Poke Burri has quickly become my favorite poke spot in the triangle! Fresh, delicious toppings...innovative menu...great portion sizes.. and super friendly service. My favorite bowl so far has been the super poke bowl, though the spicy tuna kimchee is a close second! My only complaint is that it's about a 30 minute drive from me! I should probably just move closer! XD

Kristina A.

Yelp
Best poke bowl I've ever had, seriously! They had gluten free options for me which was the cherry on top! The staff was very helpful as well. I got a to-go order, but I will definitely coming back with my husband!

Ashley E.

Yelp
Highly recommend! We got there right when they opened, and all of the staff was super friendly and attentive. The young lady taking our order and serving us was so sweet and offered us recommendations. Even being there right when they opened, everything was available to order which generally doesn't seem to be the case at a lot of places. Both of our burritos had the spicy tuna and it had the perfect heat! It was delicious!
google avatar

Regina O.

Yelp
Fantastic! I got a make your own bowl. The lady at the front went down the list and explained what I could add and what she recommended and what was popular. The spicy mayo and the eel sauce were really really good. The place was very clean and all the bowl ingredients were noticeably fresh. I will definitely be trying a burrito next time.
google avatar

Wendy N.

Yelp
Love the Super Bowl with some add'l salmon or tuna added... it's enough for 2 meals for me. I usually don't drive that far for takeout, but really enjoy this new addiction.
google avatar

Yelp
This review is long overdue. I've been eating here since they first opened. Poke Burri is, BY FAR, the best poke anywhere around here. It is always clean, the staff is friendly and welcoming. August the chef gets to know you if you come frequently and is super nice. But the food, it's really all about the food. There is no poke better than Poke Burri! I've been there several dozen times now, and it has never been anything other than super fresh and delicious. Strongest possible recommendation!
google avatar

Brina K.

Yelp
Went by today for lunch and ordered take out. The lady that helped me order was so nice and very personable! She made my complicated order (to me) seem so easy and helped with suggestions and walked me through everything. My order was made promptly and I didn't wait terribly long. Both items ordered were DELICIOUS! Can't wait to go back

Gracie M.

Yelp
IF I COULD EAT HERE EVERYDAY I WOULD! The food never disappoints, the quality of the fish is always so fresh! and I can't forget to mention the staff & chef that go above and beyond to make sure I have everything I need. I will never try another poke place again!
google avatar

Alyssa W.

Yelp
Very good, very fresh- kind service !! Definitely recommend stopping in for a poke bowl. They have premade options and build your own.

Tim D.

Yelp
By far the best poke I've had outside of Hawaii!!! The staff is very helpful and accommodating!!! I alway prefer my poke bowl with spring greens instead of rice, and it's never a problem!!! Plus the special cocky bowl is actually spicy and so flavorful!!!! I'm so glad it's right up the street from me!!! and the chef.... Always talks to me and makes sure he knows what I want!!! I may never go anywhere else!!!
google avatar

Yelp
The staff has always been patient and friendly. The owner once came out to greet us! The food we ordered was fresh and delicious. We ordered at the counter, and our food was brought to the table. I will be sharing a detailed review on my blog: www.foodbloggernc.com

C J.

Yelp
I wish I had photos to go with my review but we ate our food so fast! I got the "build your own" poke bowl with salmon as my protein choice. The ingredients were fresh and the portion size was plentiful. Pleasant and swift customer service as well which goes a long way with me. Will definitely give them repeat business.

Kayla J.

Yelp
I LOVE this place and have recommended it to many friends who have also become loyal customers. The poke is the best I've had and the service is unbeatable. August knows his customers and makes them friends. The quality of seafood is always amazing and the portions are very generous. I ALWAYS leave full!
google avatar

Katie B.

Yelp
Amazing customer service and great food! Serving sizes are large and the price is affordable. Favorite lunch spot in Raleigh!
google avatar

Amanda P.

Yelp
Came here for dinner with a friend and had an amazing experience. Everything was super fresh and affordable. The staff explained everything and were incredibly nice. We will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Really interesting concepts. I ordered the burrito and the poke bowl and both were delicious. The burrito was something new that I haven't tried before, and it was a really cool concept. The seaweed held the burrito together well and it paired well with the spicy mayo and tuna that was inside. The poke bowl was on the sweeter side with a light texture and leaves you feeling refreshed. I've seen the pizza and donut items on their yelp and would like to try those in the future. The stuff they are doing here is very adventurous and executed well, excited to hear what new combinations they can come up with!

Starla C.

Yelp
The ladies behind the counter were very friendly and polite, I just moved to NC and was looking for a good poke bowl restaurant. Yelp gave them good reviews so I was like okay let me try them. Did not disappoint! Everything was fresh and delicious, my bowl was packed and ready to eat. Will definitely be coming back soon. Thank you.
google avatar

sarah l.

Yelp
Outstanding service and even better poke! The space is clean and casual, nothing fancy but also not the kind of space to make you worry if any creepy crawlies are around. Even if the service wasn't friendly (which it definitely was) I would 1000% come back for the quality of fish alone. Huge portions too!
google avatar

Roger K.

Yelp
Anytime, I'm in search of a delicious Poki Bowl, this is my go to spot. With great portions and an amazing product, this place hits a homer every time. Decent customer service, great location, free parking, you can't go wrong here.
google avatar

Lindsay M.

Yelp
I stopped in here for a to-go lunch on a Saturday and it did not disappoint. I did a build your own bowl; however, I did not realize they had a whole menu of bowls to choose from. I would recommend choosing one on the menu as it seems like you would get a lot more bang for your buck! My bill was around $18 which is reasonable for poke and it was so much food - plenty to keep you full! A lot of poke places have a lot of rice and minimal toppings/protein, but that was not the case here. I will definitely be back. They also offer sushi burritos which are super fun!
google avatar

Aye J.

Yelp
Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. It was so fresh and they were so nice. The nachos are my fave
google avatar

Vlada B.

Yelp
The best poke bowls/burritos! Everything is always fresh and delicious, cozy atmosphere and friendly service!

Gia B.

Yelp
The service was mediocre at best, it's an order at the counter type of place so not that big of a deal. It's not like typical poke places where you can see your bowl being assembled in front of you. All the fish is prepared "traditionally" ( marinated in soy sauce). It was extremely salty and not the best quality. The portions are on the smaller side and they charge a dollar for extra toppings such as lettuce. Charging a dollar for a small scoop of a vegetable is crazy. After finishing our bowls my boyfriend almost immediately felt sick and we had to rush home.
google avatar

Morganne M.

Yelp
If you're looking for exceptional service, amazing food, and a great overall experience, this is the place. The food was absolutely amazing. I built my own bowl and had a sushi donut. Everything was very affordable and absolutely delicious. We also had someone with a shellfish allergy and the chef took special precautions to show her that he was using sterile equipment. The owner takes true pride in his establishment and greets every customer. You can tell the fish and preparation is truly handled with extreme care and respect. Everything was delicious and I wish I had one where I live but I'd highly recommend making this place a regular spot for anyone who enjoys sushi or poke bowls
google avatar

Yelp
OMG!  What a surprise! Katie and I love to go out and eat sushi together and have tried a few different places but NONE have compared with the delicious food we had today.  She was excited to share the different menu selections ... poke burritos, poke bowls, sushi doughnuts, etc.  It took me about 10 minutes to choose from the menu which of the delectable hand crafted, mouth watering delicacies to try. After much thought, I decided on the Fresh Tuna/Salmon Poke Bowl.  The 15 ingredients in this bowl when placed together became a masterpiece of flavors that made you want to savor the moment!  I have traveled to many places on this Earth but have NEVER tasted a combination like I tasted today.  I am so thankful for experiencing this restaurant and the fresh, delicious food they are offering to their community. The owner and staff take great pride in their food and reputation ... as they should.  I was most surprised when we walked in the door, the Staff remembered Katie and what she usually orders! Thank you, Poke Burri !!!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious! First time ordering from this place and I couldn't be more pleased! Highly recommend
google avatar

Sandra W.

Yelp
The burritos we got were delicious! If you're looking for a place that is fast, relatively healthy and light, this is the place for you. We ordered 2 poke burritos online and were able to skip the lines for pickup. They were all around $11-12 per burrito so fairly good priced. I got the crab burrito and my husband got the fresh tuna one, both were really fresh and good! And they were the right portion for one person. Highly recommend and will revisit!
google avatar

Sam S.

Yelp
First visit and thoroughly impressed. Ordered spicy tuna kimchi bowl to go. Only waited about 7 minutes for order to be ready. OMG it was delish! Veggies crunchy, avocado perfectly ripe, and tuna had a very fresh spicy flavor. All flavors blended perfectly together. Apologies for not taking a picture of my dish but I ate it all before I remembered to take a picture

Yelp
My wife and I stopped by a quick, teenager free dinner, after running some errands in the area. We have never been here before so we figured we'd give it a try. The restaurant is located in a strip mall on Falls of Neuse. The outside doesn't look like much but the interior is bright, clean and nicely decorated. You order your food and drinks at the counter and then you sit yourself and a staff member will bring you your food. They have a nice menu of appetizers and poke bowls. You can also make your own bowl with a list of ingredients. The food was flat out awesome!! We ordered the Spicy Tuna Nachos as an appetizer. The nachos were crisp and the tuna was tasty and seasoned just right. I got the Super Poke Bowl. All of the ingredients were fresh. The tuna and the crab were great. My wife put her own bowl together. She had tuna with mixed vegetables. She said it was really tasty and the spiciness was spot on. They offer fountain and bottled soda and teas. They also have a nice beer and wine selection if you prefer that. The food here is really really good and the prices of the appetizers and bowls is very reasonable. It's definitely a nice place to stop for a quick lunch or a very casual dinner. We will definitely be back.
google avatar

Ross M.

Yelp
I don't often leave reviews but occasionally consistent quality and solid customer service make you feel inclined to do so. The food is fresh, delicious and most importantly consistent. The chef remembers all faces and genuinely cares about the experience of his customers. We typically get take out and the food travels great. Tuna nachos, spicy tuna kimchi bowls and pork dumplings are our go to. The sauce that comes with the dumplings is the bomb!
google avatar

Cassie P.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the spicy tuna nachos! The sushi donut was okay, hard to eat and the rice seemed semi old tasting like the taste of rice when you buy sushi at the grocery store. I am looking forward to coming back to try their poke bowls. Thought the service was great, very friendly and quick. Would recommend!

Christian L.

Yelp
I eat here fairly frequently, and for a good reason too! The food is always consistently delicious, high quality, and prepared with care. The staff is friendly and understanding. The restaurant is clean, inviting, and the music is modern. If you want something fresh, I recommended Poke Burri!
google avatar

Milan T.

Yelp
Excellent food, great service, a food came out very fast. I recommend getting the spicy tuna nachos. As a person that has never enjoyed spicy tuna on anything, they have opened my eyes to how good it can be. The sauce they drizzle over the dish is extremely flavorful and hit the spot. Not a crumb was on our plates. The crab salad and the ahi tuna poke bowls were delicious and fresh. I would have included a picture but it didn't make it past the parking lot lol. My husband and I enjoyed everything, we will definitely be coming back.
google avatar

Sarah G.

Yelp
I picked up some takeout here recently, and it really hit the mark! We all got different dishes (spicy make your own, regular bowl, sushi burrito) and each enjoyed them. The spicy tuna is definitely on the salty side, so make sure you know that going in. I'll probably try the regular next time! A note that the staff here is so nice and welcoming. They were so sweet to all the customers, myself included, and I was so grateful for their warmth!
google avatar

Kathleen B.

Yelp
So easy to pick up and customize your bowl how you want it. Highly recommend trying this place.
google avatar

EM Y.

Yelp
Sometimes you just want Poke and sometimes you leave it to Apple Maps to make a choice and you just hope it isn't awful. In this case, Apple Maps made a choice I'll not soon forget. The chef is adorable and clearly knows his regulars, who equally enthusiastically greet him. That level of service coupled with fresh Poke that actually delivers, makes this a worthwhile spot. No pics because sometimes you just want to dig in.

Brett R.

Yelp
The amount of tuna you get in their spicy tuna kimchi bowl is incredible! It's full of flavor and satisfying when I'm craving poke.

Megan E.

Yelp
Extremely good food and service. I love this place so much. The space is clean and very inviting. The best poke and wonton nachos I have ever had! If you have the chance visit there!
google avatar

Aditi K.

Yelp
I had been wanting to visit Poke Burri for a long time, and I finally got the chance today. The restaurant is located in a pretty large shopping center, so parking should be easy to find. I got there right as it opened for lunch, so there was obviously no wait. I ordered the Uncle Iroh burrito roll, which has tofu, ginger miso, sweet chili peanut sauce, spring mix, and beets wrapped in seaweed with sushi rice. The pricing was reasonable, and the food was absolutely amazing. The tofu was crispy and flavorful, and the way the beets tasted with the seaweed was indescribable. The service was also amazing. Everyone who works there is so friendly. I highly recommend Poke Burri and if I lived in the area, I'd return again and again.
google avatar

Catherine C.

Yelp
Wonderful. Had a great late lunch. I had the Oak City Special Burrito Roll (wonderful) and the chef/owner helped my husband with a custom bowl to cater to his dietary restrictions (low sodium). Wow! He had a fabulous poke bowl meal and I didn't have to cook. We definitely will be back!!!
google avatar

Janet R.

Yelp
I have been dying to try this place for so long! I have been seeing posts on Instagram of their poke burritos, pizzas, and donuts for a while. While I was a little upset to not see the pizza on their menu when I visited tonight, I did order the donut! Because, I had to... Parking is plentiful as Poke Burri is located in a small shopping plaza. I was surprised by how modern and new-looking the inside looked when we walked in. So cute! I love the bar seating, wall art, and that they have tables blocked off for safe dine in eating. Since I had been wanting to check them out for so long, I overindulged and decided to order the half tuna-half salmon poke bowl, a salmon donut, the spicy tuna poke nachos, and my boyfriend ordered a build your own bowl. He said his bowl was really good! I'm not sure what he had on it though. The nachos were also really good but think Sushioki in Durham still has my favorite. My poke bowl was very fresh and had a generous portion of salmon and tuna. I really enjoyed it! I wish the portions of everything were a little bigger or that there were more topping options but other than that it was all great. The most disappointing and underwhelming part of my first experience here was definitely the salmon donut. WAY too much rice with the thinnest layer of salmon and small bit of avocado. If there were more sauce, the rice would be more palatable but mine was pretty dry, dense, and hard to eat. The salmon and avocado were lost. I wouldn't order this item again but I would order the others. I'm interested in trying one of their burritos! It was a last minute decision to get takeout, so we ordered in person and ended up waiting around 15-20 minutes for our food which wasn't bad at all. They had several take out orders be picked up during the time we were there so it looked like they were busy! As we were waiting, they even offered us water which we didn't accept, but was appreciated. The staff was wearing masks and gloves and there is a plexiglass barrier between the customers and the cashier. Hand sanitizer is available and they have 6ft distancing stickers on the ground. Nice!! Overall, I'd recommend Poke Burri and would come back to try some new items and even reorder a couple of the same!
google avatar

Chelsea N.

Yelp
I enjoyed every bit of my experience here. Staff is a bit quirky. We have ordered the bowls, burritos and the donuts. Gotta order the burritos more than anything else. They're pack full of ingredients and you can tell it's fresh. Everything tastes amazing. The building itself is small and honestly I would have missed out if I hadn't seen yelp reviews for it. It's very quaint in the inside. It's more of a lunch place than a dinner spot. Hands down-- go here if you like sushi. You won't be disappointed.
