Poke Cafe - Review - Glendale - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Poke Cafe is a tiny, build-your-own-bowl spot in the heart of Glendale surrounded by hair salons and nail studios. The only menu item is a poke bowl you'll get complete creative control over. We’re talking Yogurtland-levels of customization, with a wide spread of bases, sauces, and crunchy toppings. Whichever of the many seafood options you go with, it'll be generously portioned—so much so that you'll spend the first minute wrestling with your bowl to mix it up without spilling." - Cathy Park

Google
Great place to have a healthy and tasty lunch. You can make your own poke bowl, choosing what ingredients you prefer or you can make a burrito bowl. This makes a good option for vegans and vegetarians.

Roxana S.

Google
This place is small but man their Poke is always on point!! It always hits the spot and cures my craving for sushi when I just can't make it to a sushi spot. The raw fish is always, from my experience, fresh and oh so delicious. Staff is always helpful and friendly. I always look forward to coming back here 😊✨

Kristy AKI O.

Google
CROFFLES!!! Yes, croissant waffles! They stick an unbaked croissant in a waffle iron and top it with fresh whipped cream and fruit compote. The blueberry one was so buttery, flaky and delicious I inhaled it! I think this place also serves poké?

Google
Ordering a poke bowl or sushi burrito is easy. They are fast and fresh foods. Big portions too. This is a great poke shop for sure. As Arnold would say… I’ll be back! 🤖

Google
The fish was fresh, the poke bowl was ok I would recommend it, The poke burrito was great I would for sure get it again I put shrimp tempura and salmon and it was a great combo. Would for sure recommend if

Google
Fairly quick. Slapped together some stuff, and it was easy on my stomach. Great taste! Not too heavy with the sauces.

Google
I missed this place. I was transfered to our Irvine office for almost 1year and now I'm back in the Glendale. Lunchtime I went to my favorite POKÈ CAFE. Always fresh and affordable. GREAT Service. I recommend the regular half rice/noodles with tuna & spicy tuna. Don't forget the spicy mayo on top. Two thumbs up👍👍

Google
Avoid this place at all costs. My girlfriend got violently sick after eating here. she had the spicy tuna, salmon, crab, and albacore. Within hours she was throwing up, had awful diarrhea, and couldn’t eat or drink anything. Days later, she’s still recovering. Clearly, they don’t store or handle their raw fish properly. this is a major health hazard. To make it worse, the staff were incredibly rude and had a bad attitude when we asked basic questions. No concern for customers, no professionalism. The whole experience was disgusting from start to finish. Shameful!

Yelp
I had been to other poke spots which I thought were good until I came here. First of all, you can order inside and see all the options. You can check off the paper with all the stuff you want or you can order on the food apps and pick up or have it delivered. No matter what you choose to do, the consistency, freshness and quality of the food and service you get is great! I love their soba noodles and I don't know what it is but all others don't taste as good. You can mix between salad, soba noodles and rice and they have a lot of options for protein and toppings. They also have some sodas and other drinks. Inside they have tables and nearby there's a 90 minute free parking. Definitely my favorite poke spot and have yet to find a better spot.

Yelp
Food is good but manager is stingy, has rude signs all over, and you cant actually order a la carte, despite there literally being a section named "a la carte"... should be "extra" or "add ons"because you need to order a whole bowl and they add the "a la carte" options to your bowl. I was like "so i cant actually order a la carte?" And the employees said "no she doesnt let us" (assuming "she" is the manager) so i was like yeah makes sense now lol
google avatar

Reub D.

Yelp
Not sure why there are so many good reviews. The bowls are good but so overpriced and the employees seem like they're annoyed you exist.
google avatar

Yelp
The food was great. Several options to choose from. Small bowl was def enough for lunch with leftovers for me. Ingredients were fresh. Ambiance reminds me of a Mom and pop bodega in NYC.

Cel G.

Yelp
Disgusting service!! Inaccurate business hours and the most disrespectful staff!! This place used to be really nice and now everytime I come there are new staff members .. no wonder!

Yelp
Came in at 3 today for a door dash pick up order ! As I showed the employee and manager in the front the door dash order for (K.B), the manager let me know it was already picked up and accused me of stealing or trying to double an order ! I showed the manager my ID saying I'm not (K.B) and the manager did not want to hear it all! Terrible service ! The door dash customer called the store and let them know the situation and still the manager was not understanding the situation ! WHEN the customer called ! Beware terrible service for door dashers/dashes!
google avatar

Yelp
My bf and I came to pick up a DoorDash order, he showed it to the employee, and what seemed to be the manager. They were both looking for the order until the manager said that someone picked up the order. My partner was texting the customer telling them the situation and requested if they can remake the order, and that's what he did but the owner refused to remake the order for the customer because it was picked up by another dasher. My bf showed the messages about the customer wanting a remake or a refund but again the manager refused to. He even showed them his ID. He even accused my bf of stealing the order when this is our first time coming in picking up the order. Some words were exchanged to each other but overall the manager wasn't cooperating with the customers demand which is disappointing. When a customer says they never received their order and ask for a remake or refund you give it to them instead of being petty. Never have I seen a restaurant especially a manager refuse a service to a customer who just wanted their food or refund. Just beyond horrible, I hope they read this especially the manager.

Yelp
the poke here is rly delicious i like how their fish doesnt taste "fishy" and everything tasted fresh and very clean if that makes sense. had the large bowl which was $ 20 dollars -ish and i was really impressed with the quality so im leaving this review bc it seems like its family run and theyre very nice n patient. thanks again (i stumbled upon this place bc i was returning a suit nearby)

Yelp
I've been to a ton of poke spots and tend to always look forward to f is one of my favorite poke spots in LA for sure. I haven't been to a spot that has soba noodles as an option. Their servings v price ratio is fair. Ton of fresh/free topping options as well. I normally get the large half and half bowl and it is like 2 meals for me, but more like 1 for a very hungry person.
google avatar

Hiromi R.

Yelp
The regular bowl is supposed to have 3 scoops of protein. Mine was more like, a scoop and a half. Where is all of my protein?? I would dig around and find one lumpy scallop lurking under some toppings. That was a big disappointment. The rice wasn't right at all. It was hard and cold, like it was cooked yesterday. Possibly because I came here for dinner so they didn't have fresh rice? Also, there was no rice vinegar mixed in. Just cold, hard rice. This place also makes you fill out a card for your order. I understand that it's probably for efficiency purposes, but I personally like to see my bowl being created and ask for more/less of a certain topping. I also feel that if the customer watches the bowl being made, they won't skimp out on the protein. I wanted to like this place, especially because I went out of my way and had to deal with downtown Glendale parking on Brand, but it was just a no-go. At least the service was fine and toppings were pretty good. A no-return for me.

Yelp
Visited since we were close to the mall. Excellent quality and sauces! There are places that give you little to no sauce, but not here. They give the right amount of sauce and great portions for a good price. It was so good that we ordered one for the way home. Really recommend this place to everyone!

Yelp
The food is absolutely amazing , the service was great the facility is clean and the staff were nice and it was absolutely delicious I would definitely come again.
google avatar

Yelp
With fresh ingredients and an attentive staff, the Poke bowls here are excellently crafted and delicious. The variety of available ingredients seems to be plentiful most of the time. Everything is smartly organized as the staff constructs the orders. Bins are covered which shows some attention to detail. The pricing is a tad high for what you are getting, but the premium is in the details. The staff is completely focused on their work. I can see that much of their business is for takeaway and online deliveries. Expect to be not greeted as you walk in. Just fill out the order sheet and hand it over to the clerk near the register. A bit cold sometimes, but they are serving Poke.
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
Such an unexpected find. Really great poke. Probably the best poke I've had in LA. The poke tasted fresh, and were cut into pieces that were on the larger size.
google avatar

Alisa M.

Yelp
Came for a quick lunch break last week and was craving poke. To order you fill out a piece of paper. Pricing is comparable to nearby poke places I just wish they had a 2 protein option instead of minimum 3. Portions or moderate for the price point. Staff is clean and wearing masks and the place didn't smell like fish in a bad way lol! Not bad a place to check out if you want Poke in Glendale area. I think they have crepes too??
google avatar

Yelp
I have been looking for a good poke spot in the area for awhile now and this place has been the best I've tried so far. Their prices are a bit steep in my opinion but you get a lot served to you and the poke was very good, I tried their salmon that was mixed with their spicy mayo, garlic ponzu and yuzu soy, along with their spicy tuna. The sauces really stood out to me and it was sooo delicious and it was the perfect amount, I personally really enjoyed my sauce combination. They had some great toppings as well. I will be coming back!
google avatar

Armen A.

Yelp
Poke Cafe is a delightful spot that consistently delivers exceptional service. Their dishes are made with high-quality ingredients, and the generous portions of their poke bowls are satisfying.
google avatar

Taleen B.

Yelp
The absolute BEST poke place ever! I order at least 2x a week and truly wish i could have it every day. Their sauces are amazing and the quality of the fish is 10/10. Try their citrus ginger!!!! I've tried so many other poke places and always find myself comparing it to Poke Cafe. No other spot has come close. Service is awesome. I always order through Uber eats and they know how much I love the citrus ginger and always hook it up! Poke Cafe you're the bestttt!!!!
google avatar

Laura G.

Yelp
Fantastic!! Great fresh, healthy & delicious summertime meal Excellent sauces and ingredient choices!! Suggest lg bowl with brown rice & salad base, original poke spicy. Spicy tuna, albacore, salmon and masago. Sriracha Mayo, sesame sauce, sweet shoyu (soy sauce). Avocado, green onions, 2x edamame, tempura flakes and sesame seeds.

Rachel H.

Yelp
Best poke in the area - super fresh tasting, generous portions, awesome selection of sauces that are all tasty. Very reliable as delivery, too. I wish they would bring back the poke burrito, though!
google avatar

Sophia R.

Yelp
I wasn't the biggest fan of poke until I tried this place 2 years ago and have been a returning customer ever since. It has to be one of the best spots for poke -super fresh fish and generous portions I appreciate how customizable your bowl can be and I love it extra saucy and they make it awesome each and every time! The workers are super chill and know how to make your order efficiently! Cannot recommend this place enough!
google avatar

Gina S.

Yelp
The poke bowls are really good. During my visits it seems that majority of the people just do takeout. Ordering is really simple. You just fill out a card with everything you want and put it on the ordering rack. Imo poke bowls are really good if you know what sauce combinations to do. I went for the spicy mayo, garlic ponzu, and yuzu soy. Doesn't disappoint!

Suzy K.

Yelp
Fresh, convenient location, and clean. A little annoying that you need to fill out the paper form and hand it to them to make your bowl. Food tastes fresh, portion is decent, and would still recommend.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
Poke cafe has good poke but is pricey and not stingy with servings but very VERY VERY precise with portions. Firstly, poke is good! There is a great variety of toppings and choices of fish. My personal go to is salmon and sometimes octopus. What I love about poke cafe is the sauces! I get a mix of spicy pepper paste and citrus ginger shoyu with a drizzle of spicy mayo at the end. Yumm! Yes the poke taste good but it is very pricey at about 21 dollars for a large with avocado. Sigh, they also very meticulously make sure you get exactly the amount of fish the small scoop can hold and absolutely nothing more. Understandable because fish is expensive I'd imagine. There is little seating inside and no dedicated outdoor seating. You come in grab a paper fill it out and pass it on. A few minutes later you have your bowl in hand and are ready to head out and enjoy! ( while you cry because of how little poke you get for the amount of money you spent ) Street parking can be scarce but there are free lots within walking distance. Although seating isn't great brand Blvd has plenty of places to sit and eat outside! Enjoy :)

Yelp
After a long morning of working and errands, I joined my friends at Poké Cafe for lunch. I ordered a 3 scoop salmon bowl with all the toppings I wanted. The poké itself isn't the best Ive had but was good, no complaints. As for the service, it was very transactional. The team working there barley held eye contact or spoke except when needed during check out. This set the depressing mood in the shop, which is a shame as they have loads of seating inside. If I ever do come back, it'll be to pick up take out.

Yelp
5 bites in and I'm writing a review. THIS POKE SPOT IS AMAZING! Really fresh ingredients and fish and amazing tasting toppings and sauces. Definitely the best poke in glendale

Diana I.

Yelp
This is the best poke place I have ever had. I have tried countless poke places in LA and everything is horrible and disappointing when I know this place exists. Glendale has the best poke and this is the best one there. Everything is fresh and freshly made daily, like the spicy tuna. This the only place that I would eat spicy tuna at cause it's actually good. It has every and the best toppings to choose from. Portions are crazy generous and well worth it. Definitely must go. I never have left a review but I just had to for this place cause I get so annoyed and upset that everywhere else isn't good compared to this place.
google avatar

Nona S.

Yelp
Very bad service. The 2 ladies at front are very unprofessional and aggressive. Because of her attitude I just left without taking my food. Will not recommend. If you want to be bullied because of your race this is the place
google avatar

Gabe L.

Yelp
I ordered online so are our order would be ready by the time we walked over, which it was so that process was smooth. We got a Small Poke Bowl ($14.95, 2 scoops of fish) and Big Poke Bowl ($16.95, 4 scoops of fish). The big one was definitely worth it if you like having a ton of fish but I was super full, I don't believe they give you more of the other ingredients when I compared it to the small. Fish and everything else was super fresh and tasty, I especially enjoyed their Sesame & Garlic Ponzu sauces. We got salmon and spicy tuna which were of fantastic quality, service was quick and friendly, we would come back for a quick lunch in the area. Do note they're currently take-out only, no dine-in.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
I've been coming to this establishment for years and I love it, but unfortunately my gf got food poisoning from the spicy tuna last week and I've been a little hesitant to come back.

Talilla K.

Yelp
A decent bowl and quality fish, but the toppings completely overpower everything else and the amount of fish is not much. Needs to be more balanced, I didn't need the giant scoop of wasabi or the giant scoop of ginger, these should be garnish.

Syuzi N.

Yelp
One of the best poke spots I've tried in a while. This will definitely be my go to when I'm in the area. Everything was very fresh and super easy to order with the paper.
google avatar

Yasmine S.

Yelp
This is going to be my 3rd review and tbh I am still as obsessed as the first day I tried it. My boyfriend and I are regulars here and we can't get enough. The quality is just amazing and the sauces are unmatched. Please give it a try if you are in the area. I live in noho but make the drive to Glendale monthly or weekly 100/10.

Angeles R.

Yelp
We discovered this place recently and the first three times we went for lunch were great, but the last three times we went for dinner the service was mediocre and unfriendly. The rice was hard as marbles and crunchy. During the dinner times, we asked for sushi rice and instead got plain, hard and crunchy white rice. For almost $100 worth of poke each trip, this is unacceptable. We didn't even finish the bowls at our last visit. We ate about a third before giving up on eating them. I don't we're going back.
google avatar

Melineh H.

Yelp
During this shut down, one of the difficulties I have experienced with dining is I simply can NOT enjoy certain foods at home, like I did at a restaurant; for example, Italian food, Mexican, Sushi, etc. Those foods I genuinely need to be in a restaurant to experience the authenticity of the dining experience. Im jealous of those that can! Today I was tired of the usual Thai food and Pizza & I decided to try a healthy approach and ordered a Salmon Poke bowl- No rice. Soba noodles with salad, Salmon with crab meat, cucumbers, pickled turnips, ginger with ponzu dressing. A+++ My bowl was bursting with the above ingredients! VERY Generous amount of salmon and all the veggies I had checked off on doordash app. +Super freish +Perfect amount of dressing +Healthy and delicious +Swift preparation +Awesome price point. Cant wait to order again..and again, and again.
google avatar

Mana G.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite Poke places in LA! The ingredients are excellent, with large fresh large pieces to fish and fresh vegetables. The restaurant is really cute and service is friendly! I've been here to dine in and pick up and it's both been a wonderful experience. Highly recommended!!
google avatar

Linda N.

Yelp
The place was fairly empty when I went in, but I believe they get a lot of to go orders. The poke was EXCELLENT! So fresh and delicious...hmmmm...thinking of going back there tonight now.
google avatar

Irene C.

Yelp
While the poke bowl is good, the young lady serving is a non person! No greeting, mo eye contact, not one word out of her mouth! Should hire a person with some manner and personality.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
Always happy to try new poke places as poke is one of my favorite foods. I was in Glendale for a dental cleaning and decided to pick up dinner from here. I thought about ordering online but decided to just drive there and order it, since it usually didn't take a lot of time. I got there and parked in one of those 90 minute lots. There were two girls working at the counter, and one patron eating there. So I ordered the two bowls, one with white rice base and one with half soba noodles, half salad both regular size. You can't order that online - half and half so its better to come in. Came with three proteins and the standard toppings. For some reason their cole slaw was extra, which is strange to me - extra is usually something more premium like avocado. They did have a spicy crabmeat option, which she let me sample. It was good, so I got that for both of us. A regular bowl was 11.95 each, which isn't bad. Took it home and we ate it when my boyfriend got home from work - an hour and a half later. It did hold up and was pretty delicious. I'll definitely eat here when I'm in Glendale.
google avatar

Peter A.

Yelp
Nice little shop on Brand Blvd in the center of downtown Glendale. The food quality was on point and the bowl as a whole tasted amazing. I do wish it was slightly bigger considering it is a large, but that definitely wasn't a deterrent at all. I'd still highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for great quality poke, nice ambiance and quick service. Will definitely be back.

Victoria S.

Yelp
Very delicious! I got the soba noodles with salmon and now I'm addicted. Will be coming back before my cravings drive me crazy.
google avatar

Hyun K.

Yelp
The freshness of the fish was impeccable, and while the side options were basic, they were bursting with flavor! The rice and soba were both delightfully fresh. The owner, who prepares the poke, is incredibly friendly. Although I initially found the prices a bit high, the quality of the poke makes it worth trying at least once. I'll certainly be returning whenever I have a craving for poke. I enjoyed a quiet and clean lunch at the restaurant.
google avatar

Joel Y.

Yelp
Came here after a long day in the sun. Excellent food, kind service and radio songs I can tap my toe to. Wonderful store and would recommend to anyone looking for fresh fish and great sauces.
google avatar

Julio B.

Yelp
One of the best Poke bowls in Glendale, all their protein is mixed with your desired sauce, none of that premixed stuff. Do yourself a favor and go give it a try.
google avatar

Stephen P.

Yelp
I've been to this place a couple of times and been happy with the poke bowls they prepared for me. The most recent visit was for a 3 scoop of fish bowl on brown rice. What I like most is the ability to customize the bowl with sauces and toppings. And if that's too daunting or confusing then you can ask the staff or stick to a "recipe" the store has. It was odd to see that they had sesame oil as a new addition - for me that is the basis of a great poke bowl. I added soy beans and seaweed and masayo. Avocado would've been nice, but didn't fancy paying extra. Parking out front is a bit hit and miss as it is all metered parking and there isn't always a space. Also, the min time is 1 hour on the meter which is a bit overkill just to get a poke bowl. The smell inside is a little fishy, but the food is great. No issues.
google avatar

Maggie P.

Yelp
I am obsessed with this spot!! I want to first off mention that I do not live in Glendale. I live in Toluca lake and have MANY poke spots close by. I have at least 5 options within 1-3 miles from my home but I am WILLING to drive the 10 mins (15-18 mins if there's traffic) to come pick up poke here. That is HOW GOOD it is!! I've been coming here for over a year now and randomly found it when I was shopping in the area. I am so glad I did because their poke is the best I've had! I grab poke whenever I can cause I'm obsessed with it. They have two sizes regular and large and most places the regular is ok not super filling but good. NOT here.. They hook it up! Like seriously! Their fish is fresh, their sauce is good, the options are amazing. Their rice to fish/toppings ratio is perfect too! Most poke spots either give too much rice or not enough. Also other poke spots has you pick between seaweed salad or crab while this place gives it to you as another topping option. What I'm saying is that you aren't limited. I went in yesterday and they are adhering to the COVID guidelines and love the process they have created. To get an order going you will fill out these order slips and notate what you want from bowl size, type of fish, toppings, sauce, etc. Then hand it to them and they will create the bowl. They do have a sign that sometimes it could take up to 15 mins to create one and I'm assuming when it gets hectic, which seems validated! Luckily there was only a couple ahead of me so my bowl got made quickly! They have all the clear plastic to avoid contact also they ask after you give them your order slip to stand back as they will call you. All in all, I love this spot and I am going to make more of an effort to drive out here just to buy their poke. It NEVER disappoints and I always feel great after. Trust meeee!! Go get yours now! Support local and small businesses esp during this time!
google avatar

Laura L.

Yelp
FOOD: Standard ahi poke place. I got the Half Half Regular with soba and salad. It comes with 3 protein to which I got Salmon, Albacore, and Tofu (avocado and egg are extra). Something I normally don't see at other places are the shredded beets. Not bad. SERVICE: The staff helping me was really careful putting all the ingredients in the bowl which made service slow.. But whenever another ingredient accidentally touched another container, she would throw it away instead of placing it back so I guess that was good? If I'm craving ahi poke in Glendale, I would come back but wouldnt travel all the way here for it.
google avatar

Jason H.

Yelp
Update: ordering online or in person are fine now. Super nice people, consistently good poke and wash to order online and pick it up. Still my favorite Poke place!
google avatar

Brenda D.

Yelp
Yum yum yummm! I've been coming here for poke for years now. I've tried different places in the Glendale area but they don't compare to the freshness and flavors at Poké Cafe. I also love that they've got more options for toppings and sauces than other spots that limit you on what you can get and mix. The spicy tuna is my favorite but trust that the word "spicy" is not taken lightly! It's got a great kick... can't wait to come back for another bowl! Ps) the avocado is always perfect!
