"This Carson strip mall spot isn’t our favorite on the list, but wins multiple points for authenticity. The fish is pre-marinated and scooped out of a deli case onto warm rice - no fancy toppings or sides. There’s a single counter to eat at, but you probably won’t be sticking around - there is quite literally no atmosphere here. Check it out if you’re in the area though. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

I’ve been coming here for years, and I must say they are the only one that are very close to authentic Hawaiian style poke. Fresh and delicious. The Kama’aina Plate with lau lau & kalua pork with fresh Ginger Poke. The lau lau is a little salty, but the meat was tender. Kalua Pork was so moist and juicy. The Poke was as close to oyster sauce style as I could get. Mini cubes were nice and fresh. they only had a couple with that white connective tissue. Took a pic of their Musubi lineup but did not buy any. But I’ve noticed that the service has gone down lately. The new worker just doesn’t have the warmth and welcoming attitude that the previous workers. There are a couple of stools if you want to eat in, but most are takeout orders.

Poke Etc is a good choice for poke lovers! The prices are on the lower side, but the quality is definitely on the higher end. The ingredients are always fresh, and there are plenty of ready options to choose from. The service could use some improvement, but overall, it’s still a great place to visit for a satisfying meal.

Google
I've ordered through Door dash 3 times now in the past 2 weeks. Aside from the young girl who was giving me a hard time on their internal error on my meal, and not advising me until i called them back about it, the Garlic Chicken is great but the Poke is okay, I'd suggest for them to have the Poke Marinade in it's sauce for a little bit longer to absorb the sauces they use for their Poke. Please bring back Mussel Poke please.

Google
Food was delicious. Seems like the different versions of poke are made in house and nicely flavored. Good portions and fresh ingredients. The service was decent.

Google
I was craving for authentic Hawaiian poke and remember a friend recommended this place. Their poke is fresh and the serving is really big. Limu poke is very popular in Hawaii but it is so hard to find it here. I am glad that I wouldn't need to fly to Hawaii to fix my cravings for poke. Definitely the best poke in town ☺️☺️ Service is top notch as well!

Pumi (Professional)

Google
This is not a build your own poke place and they use flavors that you would find on the island, so the flavors might not be for everyone. But for me, this is the place! When ever I miss home, or even just around, I always come by and grab a bowl. The flavor is excellent. The portions are fantastic. And they got Musubi if you need. Just come early or you’ll get the old stuff. Btw Ginger is my favorite but if you want something more mainland the Cali or Mayo are friggin good too. Go experiment. Try something new 👍

Google
I've only had the poke here, but every time, it has been top-notch. Probably the closest to Poke you can get in Hawaii, in my opinion. I always end out eating it in the car with chopsticks rather than waiting to get home.

Google
Great portions, fresh fish, and I liked the authentic style of the poke - different than what you get at chains. Would def come back if again in the area.

Yelp
1. Good selection of poke flavors & fish 2. Quick service 3. Also has Hawaiian drinks & snacks 3. Plenty of parking Great local spot to try out. If you like poke this is a place to tryout.

Yery J.

Yelp
ok poke. small shop with no seating. the workers were very welcoming and helpful when i couldn't decide what to choose. a lot of my friends recommended me this place but there was nothing special about the poke for me... it was just average.

Manu M.

Yelp
Flavors changed recently and are bland af now. You know that episode of Fairly Odd Parents where everyone turns into a grey blob? That's what the poke flavors be like now. The creativity and individuality feels wished away.... The service is koo, they always nice and the QUALITY of the fish is always good but the new poke flavors and consistency are so terrible to me. I inquired within and was told new recipes came along with new management.? Can't bring myself to go anymore lol. -Used- to be solid. -Used- to be my favorite spot for years. -Used- to go here 3-4 times a week after working out nearby. Now I'm wishing it was how it used to be...but I just keep seeing a grey blob... (That's a callback to the Fairly Odd Parents analogy in the first paragraph.... Season 1 episode 12 for ref...)

Yelp
Snacky time for cuz. They had a decent selection. The place was clean & well organized. We got SPICY MAYO AHI to go. It was decent. I was not a fan of the smell of the poke to go or the place.

Aina J.

Yelp
I ordered the shoyu poke it was very bland I had to ask for soy sauce on the side. I'm not sure if that's how they serve it. The rice with furikake was ono.

Luisa L.

Yelp
A coworker recommended Poke Etc, and I have not stopped going ever since. It is clean, quick and simple. It is take-out only. I usually get the Poke bowl, which tastes really fresh. They have different food items on the menu and many snacks and other things at the store. Menu prices are reasonable. It is near my workplace, but I even take the drive when I am not working and feel like eating Poke.

Yelp
Authentic Hawaiian style poke in the South Bay! I've been here a few times now and I love the poke here. I will say it's not the highest quality ahi (tuna) but the flavors and sauces that it's marinated in are so good! I usually go for the Create Your Own Plate ($13.95) which comes with two scoops of rice, up to two flavors of poke, and a small side of seaweed salad. My favorite flavors are the Spicy Mayo and Ginger. The spicy mayo is the perfect amount of spice and I love the white onions and green onions that are mixed into it. The ginger is also so flavorful and it's nice that they offer it here because it's hard to find on the mainland. It's a small little shop and more of a takeout spot. The service for the poke is quick since they scoop them out of the display fridge. The portions are huge, and you definitely get your money's worth! They also have some Hawaiian snacks for sale if you'd like. Overall, great flavors and portions!

Maia Jae B.

Yelp
I hate to leave a negative review but this was the worst quality fish I have had at a poke spot. Maybe it's just the day I went. I'm not sure if it wasn't stored or thawed properly but I never had ahi be this dry texture. I ended up throwing it away because the fish quality really threw me off. I got limu and shoyu. Maybe the spicy mayo or ones coated in more sauce would be better to cover up the fish. I might be 808 spoiled but There are better spots in the area for authentic Hawaiian poke. Good for the price? but I probably wouldn't return.

Kendrick L.

Yelp
Definitely the best poke spot that I've had in LA. The location is very small and hidden, so I'd consider it a hole in the wall food spot, but the poke is great. The customer service isn't that welcoming but they definitely make up for it with the food. I've tried most of the flavors they offer and loved almost every flavor. They offer other Filipino and Hawaiian foods as well.

Kyle S.

Yelp
A great place to get quick togo poke! This place is known for having authentic Hawaiian poke flavors. When I first discovered this place the poke used to be amazing, but lately it's been a hit or miss, due to the quality of the poke everytime I go nowadays. The poke quality used to be very good, but now lately it's been kind of rubbery. Not this last time I went thankfully but the past ones before has been. Nonetheless, if you're a person that doesn't care about fish quality then this place would still be really great! The flavors they offer are all so good and delicious. I chose the spicy mayo and oyster (which are mainly my go to), but I've also tried the cali and ahi kimi which are also great too. You can get 1 flavor with a regular size and 2 flavors with a large, which also comes with the smallest cup of seaweed salad i've ever seen. The promote the large like you're going to get a decent portion, but really give you about 2-3 SMALL bites worth of seaweed salad. Rice plates are also sold here with other Hawaiian snacks, ingredients, etc. Service can be kind, but also can be nonchalant or like a hurry up and get out type of vibe, but I get it, it's an in and out type of place I'm not trying to stay long either. Ambiance is cute. It feels like how those little poke shacks are in Hawaii. Don't expect any tables because there are none. This is strictly togo!!!! Overall, still got love for this place but I can see it slowly go downhill.

Levy A.

Yelp
Disappointed with the Changes I've been a regular here at Poke Etc for years, but ever since the new management took over, the experience just isn't the same. The food, which used to be flavorful and fresh, now tastes bland and poorly prepared. My favorite dish, Cali Hawaiian used to be packed with flavor, but now it turned very salty and is missing that special touch that made it stand out. Service was okay, but even that felt less friendly than before. It's really disappointing to see such a great place lose its charm. I hope they can turn things around because it used to be one of my favorites. I missed Manang and the team.

Annalyn D.

Yelp
My absolute favorite place to get poke. Smaller shop, and I can't seem to find another location outside of Carson. They also have combos with Filipino food, but I go here mainly for the poke. They give generous servings, and their style of poke feels more authentic and flavorful in comparison to their chain/corporate poke counterparts. The Create Your Own Poke Bowl comes with steamed rice and a small seaweed salad too. Just as a note, it's more of a to-go place (no inside seating) so I often pick up my order and eat it in a park to enjoy the meal. A must-visit if you go to Carson!

Israel A.

Yelp
I was on my way to "Jus Poke" because I seen it on tiktok but it was an hour drive. On my way, my gf found this place half ways. Let me tell YOU!! It's a must try. We got the Chili Garlic, Hawaiian Cali, Spicy Avocado, Salmon Shoyu!! Sides: Pickled Garlic and seaweed salad. Very fresh and delicious texture and the rice is . 8.8/ 10

Michelle L.

Yelp
They're under new management and now some of the flavors for the Poke has changed. It was disappointing as it wasn't as good as before. The rice was a bit hard and didn't taste as fresh. I'm hoping it was just a bad day, but when it comes to Poke, there shouldn't be bad days since it needs to be fresh

Jas M.

Yelp
My family and I drive 1.5hrs from the IE to get Poke from this place maybe twice a month, every month. Every single time we go the workers have the worst attitude EVER. The young Filipina with the round Harry Potter glasses ALWAYS rolls her eyes, always has to breathe heavily when my family and I order. It makes the food and trip unenjoyable. Today the young Filipina was working but she didn't take our order it was a dark skinned older Filipina, she was also rude. After my mom and I paid we asked for soy sauce... the lady rolled her eyes and made an "ugh" sound. Management should speak to staff and educate them on customer service. The pricing, the attitude/service we get, and the missing flavors in the poke is not worth it, sadly. This USED to be our go-to spot for poke, this USED to be worth the TIME and MONEY spent. But not anymore.

Christina S.

Yelp
My go-to for authentic poke in the area. Portion sizes, variety and pricing here is a lot better than the Long Beach location. (Poke & More)

George S.

Yelp
We wanted some poke and was too far from our go to Jus Poke. We got the spicy salmon and shoyu poke bowl. The fish didn't seem fresh and was overly sauced. The service wasn't that pleasant, the employee that took our order wasn't that helpful or friendly. If you buy a drink, be aware they don't have ice or cups, so the drinks are only as cold as the temp of the display fridge. The restaurant has plenty of parking, no seating outside or inside, so it's a grab and go. We probably won't be coming here again. I hate giving bad reviews, but felt the need to here. Best of luck to the business.

Adrian L.

Yelp
Haven't had a bad experience here before other than coming late and saying they closed the kitchen and only had poke! I still got the poke. Best authentic poke place to go to. The pork is amazing as well from here.

Nathan P.

Yelp
Was interested in trying Poke Etc after seeing some videos online promoting the San Diego location. I thought I'd give this location a try, but it was definitely a mistake. Service was among the worst I've experienced recently. The girl sitting there was stone cold. I probably would have gotten more hospitality or emotion from an automated machine. In some cases, I'm able to brush aside bad service if the food is good. Unfortunately, that was not the case here either. Ordered the spicy mayo and chili garlic poke. The quality and texture of the fish was so off putting. It's clear they use lower quality frozen fish. The texture was that of something that was frozen and not thawed properly. The flavors were bland and uninteresting. Chili garlic flavor just tasted strongly of sambal and all the seeds made it annoying to eat. Would not recommend this place at all. Poor service, low quality fish, no redeeming qualities.

Kate L.

Yelp
Omg, huge scoops of poke! But that's all you get with rice & little seaweed. The fish is really fresh. I liked the ginger poke. Fresh & clean, not much sauce. The Shoyu was in sauce, good. I also asked for 1/4 lb of the Cali poke, it had mayo & other stuff (imitation crab?) not my jam. Cute little shop with various island snacks & gifts. Great value for the quality & quantity.

Joe A.

Yelp
It's been a minute since I've been here since work moved, but man the service has gone bad. The lady helping really didn't care to be there. No greeting, no smile and I asked for a 3rd sample and she said "again" in Tagalog again like I didn't understand her. Really disappointing... I did still get the combo because the food is delicious and fresh, I also like their vigan langonisa breakfast... The younger kids that used to work there should come back because this lady would really put off people who haven't had the food before... I do like supporting small business but I still believe in good customer service.

Alexis R.

Yelp
Poké was delicious. I prefer my poke without the sauce already mixed in, but this was ok. The portions were good and the service was good. I was a bit shocked that I had to purchase the ginger and seaweed salad separately. I also get that all the toppings are a mainland thing anyway. I only wish I could get a smaller portion of fish

Anthony P.

Yelp
Ordered the spicy tuna with spicy salmon, honestly one of the best poke places I have tried. Served with two scoops of white rice which is awesome if you need the energy. The staff was very friendly and helpful with putting together my order. The place is a little small, but very decorative with cool stuff on the walls!

Criss N.

Yelp
So much food for such great value, especially compared to mainland-style poke spots. The ratio of poke to rice is fantastic, and so is the quality of the fish. So this is not like most poke places on the mainland where you choose multiple scoops of fish and vegetables and mix it in sauce to top your rice. This poke is Hawaiian poke, which is primarily tuna poke that has been marinated prior and is served to you usually by the pound and served with plain rice. I tried their Chili Garlic, Spicy Mayo, Basic Spicy and Fresh Ginger. My favorite by far is the fresh ginger. The ginger flavor is not overwhelming, and it compliments the flavors of the tuna perfectly!! I also got their mac salad, which I was unfortunately not a huge fan of. It had a very fragrant aroma of macadamia nuts, which I was not used to. Next time, I would like to try their salmon and tako (octopus) as well. They also have a wide variety of Hawaiian snacks, like musubi and li-hing sweets.

Yasmeen S.

Yelp
I've been to Hawaii a few times and love their poke and I'm so happy to have come across Poke Etc because it's spot on to the poke in Hawaii! I got two flavors, ahi limu and oyster. Both were very delicious and fresh but I prefer ahi limu because it's mixed with seaweed. I highly recommend this place if you want authentic Hawaiian poke.

Katt O.

Yelp
Ambiance: it's an order and go establishment ... no seating ... not very welcoming Service: average Food: average...lacking Hawaiian flavor .. missing ingredients for good / excellent poke. Good luck and we will not be back

Liz G.

Yelp
Pulled into the parking in front of the store at 6:28 p.m. and went to enter the store. Right when I was in front of the door, the employee inside changed the Open sign to "Closed." Rude. It clearly states on the sign they're open til 7 p.m. They should at least post the correct hours or put an update on their platforms if they're going to close early. So I went to Poke Bar instead. Just down the street.

Maribel P.

Yelp
Been going here for years. They have always been friendly and inviting--proper and professional--but today--encountered a new face; unfriendly, looked irritated, and basically slapped the poke in the container (salad with dressing) and added rice all in one--wow! Buried the container of dressing with poke. She ran my payment with no words, no acknowledgment. This worker is hurt-lol.

Dee G.

Yelp
Poke Etc in Carson never fails. Always so fresh. It's such a small establishment you would never think to stop by. But you must! This is my go to spot for fresh Poke. It's not a sit down restaurant but I don't mind eating at the comfort of my home. Unfortunately I can't say much about the staff as they only take orders.

Terrence C.

Yelp
The poke here is GREAT! It all tastes very fresh, very flavorful, lots of variety. The staff is so kind, very helpful with everything we had to ask. Very quiet since there isn't a place to sit down and eat but no worries! Can eat in your car or at home and it tastes just as great.

Malissa M.

Yelp
Delicious poke reminiscent of the kind I would get at "Foodland" on my trips to Oahu. Portions are HUGE. The 2 poke plate (with salmon) is $16.99, it's not advertised on their menu. I guess $13.99 was for just tuna. Was a shock but at such a good price I didn't care that much. I also got their mac salad, a side was $1. Wasn't my favorite and wouldn't get again. Service was curt. The place is a grab and go, and at the affordable price it doesn't bother me that much. I'm there for the food. They sell assorted Hawaiian goods and some stuff in their freezer. Will return it in the area!

Cindy S.

Yelp
I love the simplicity of Poke Etc. Good quality poke - deli style. No extra toppings or fancy sides. No customizable poke bowls. About 8 flavors of pre-marinated tuna. Purchase by weight (a la carte) or choose a poke bowl/combo option with a scoop of rice topped with furikake rice seasoning and your choice of poke. Hawaiian breakfast and lunch plates are also available. We stuck with poke and got the Ahi Limu and Ginger Shoyu. Both were fantastic. My favorite was the ginger shoyu. Definitely coming back.

Annie L.

Yelp
Just like eating poke in Hawaii! There's even have ogo in their poke! Delicious They have everything! Lau lau, Kailua pork, Portuguese sausage and treats. The place is small but it's pack with goodness. And the price is reasonable. Must try!

Narlet D.

Yelp
I've been coming to Poke etc., since 2013 while I was working in Carson and now I have it every time I drive down and it's so worth the drive. Their poke is still the best I've ever had! I've never been to Hawaii but this is what I imagine it tastes like lol.

Kaitlyn P.

Yelp
Poke Etc was such an underrated and hidden gem for me! We stumbled upon this place while looking for lunch near Ikea and it's a totally random hole in the wall poke joint serving amazing food in the middle of the city. Serving sizes are huge and you won't be able to find this kind of value anywhere else. I got the limu and shoyu which both transported me right back to my days on Kauai and Maui. There's no seating inside but service is quick and cordial and it's a great lunch to take to go.

Jan Josef A.

Yelp
Joy helped me out and was very kind. I've been coming here a lot since it's down the street. The best Poke in Carson by far. Thx for the seaweed on the side!!!

Ann N.

Yelp
Poke Etc is unique in that it offers a more authentic-style Hawaiian poke, without all the extra frills and toppings. You get your rice and a plethora of poke flavors to choose from. The poke here is super fresh and yummy!! And the portions are good for the price you're paying. They have so many flavors; so far I've tried: *Shoyu: a classic flavor, you can't go wrong this this one *Sweet & spicy: good, but definitely more sweet than spicy *Chili garlic: my personal fav, would recommend if you're looking for something spicier Overall, I'm definitely coming back to try out their other poke flavors. Would highly recommend.

Regina E.

Yelp
Usually our go to spot for poke! We love getting spicy mayo and have always loved it but today it was not flavorful at all and was a little watery. Hopefully it was just a bad batch, looking forward to the next one!

Crislie T.

Yelp
Simple poke place with other hawaiian and filipino food. Fast service. I always get the salmon plate with 2 flavors. it can be with salad or rice but I always get the rice. Try it...:) Not a fancy place but just a simple store.

Christanne C.

Yelp
Coworker came here, so I tagged along and got a 1/2 lb of Hawaii Cali poke. It was fresh and delicious. I ate some with my Trader Joe's garlic chili oil. Bomb. They have a lot more stuff inside instead of the high top table they for indoor dining. Lots of snacks and random "Hawaiian goods"

Eric T.

Yelp
The shoyu poke is the best with soil chicken. Wish I had a photo to show you, but I was too hungry. Just take my word for it.

Lawrence W.

Yelp
This place is great. Been a customer since they opened. My only gripe is with the poke by the pound. If you ask for a half pound, they stuff so much in the container, it's almost a pound. Today I asked for a 1/2 lb and it was $14.98. It's $17.99 a lb so that's about .85 of a pound The last time I asked for a pound, they stuffed close to 1.5lbs in the container. I understand it's an estimation, but that far off??? Guess the next time I want I half pound, I should ask for a 1/4 lb.

Elisa Y.

Yelp
I got the create your own poke which is supposed to include 2 poke flavors, furikake rice, and seaweed salad for $13.95. Ours didn't come with the seaweed salad because they forgot to include it. The prices are reasonable and they do give you good portions. I got the spicy mayo and cali hawaiian, the flavors were pretty good but the fish was not fresh. As others have mentioned, the service here is pretty poor and staff is rude. It's a grab and go place, so no seating inside.

Leroy T.

Yelp
Food was affordable and great! No indoor seating take-away style and quick service. Will definitely try again.

Kristin W.

Yelp
Poke Etc has THE best poké that is extremely similar to poke in Hawaii. It doesn't have all the added extra toppings that the poke bowls craze has and just contains the raw fish, furikake seasoned rice with seaweed on top. I ordered the chili garlic flavor, which had a very strong taste, you could definitely taste the garlic in there and the chili was spicier than I expected! I also liked how there was white onion slices in there. Poke includes tuna in it, and it costs a little extra to get salmon. I want to come back again and try other flavors. I've never seen a poke place have as many flavor options as they do. They also have other items on their menu, including specials and plate lunches. There's construction going on in the parking lot plaza they're in. The inside of the take out place isn't too fancy or decorated but it's not necessary since it's a grab and go place!

Alex D.

Yelp
Came here for lunch today while working nearby. I have been to this spot a few times before, typically for their poke. They were never the friendliest, but the food usually made up for it. Not today. Came in and asked for the tako special poke they had advertised. The lady yelled "not available" at me and walked away. I waited for a bit, then when she came back, got the octopus but received mostly mushrooms and ginger. The flavor was overwhelmingly ginger. I ate most of the rice and picked out the three pieces of octopus. Not sure this was worth $15, don't think I'll be back. 3 stars based on good experience before.

Helle P.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the spicy salmon and love getting their burritos as a treat. Love the people who run this restaurant, they're very hospitable and informative.

Lauren T.

Yelp
Had pretty high expectations for this place after seeing all the reviews, but I was ultimately pretty let down. Maybe I'd stop by if I was in the area again but it wouldn't be my first choice. Main issues: 1) quality of fish, 2) service I get it, it's not always possible to have fresh fish, but when I've tried places like Ali'i Fish Co it's hard to not compare the two. Honestly looked like some of the ahi tuna was turning old. I will say that their flavorings of the poke were overall pretty good, but as a meal it didn't quite hit the spot for me. Like others have also stated, I found the service also rather cold and unhelpful.

Ashley G.

Yelp
As soon as we walked in the lady who worked at the counter looked like she hated being there. No smile, no greeting, just a "what do you want?" I asked if they were able to substitute double rice with one scoop of Mac and one scoop of rice, in which she replied a hard no. I got the spicy salmon and shoyu tuna. The portions were decent, easily can be split into two meals but the quality and flavor of the poke was unremarkable. Definitely better and friendlier poke places in the area. I will not be returning.
