15 Poke Bowls to Try in Denver | Eater Denver

"These handcrafted bowls served at the corner of 17th and Platte Street next to Denver Beer Co. appeared earlier this year, with create-your-own ingredient lists and specialties such as the refreshing Cali bowl with salmon, spicy tuna, crispy garlic, and lotus chips. Also available on the “secret menu” is spam musubi with flaming hot Cheetos." - Gigi Sukin

Update 7/25: What was once a 5 Star restaurant 6 months ago has really taken a nose dive. The sushi quality is now just okay. Miso soup no longer comes with a bowl. The serving size for a nearly $20 large bowl is much smaller than it used to be. When ordering, I felt like I was rushed along and inconveniencing the person creating the bowl. The guys working today are more interested in being on their phones and hanging out in the back. And even though I was the only person in the store on a Friday evening.. the tables and floors are dirty. This used to be the most affordable and high quality poke in Denver with cheerful and upbeat employees. I hope they figure it out again soon 1/25: I enjoyed a "dine in" Poke bowl and miso soup on a Saturday night, and the guys working treated everyone during the hour that I was here like gold. Even after years of eating here, the prices are pretty good, the quality is better/fresher than most anywhere else, and there's always a welcoming atmosphere. Being walking distance from other great breweries, eateries, REI and the river is a plus too. On this occasion the fish didn't look as "fresh off the boat" as I'm used to, but still great. Don't miss this Denver gem as it's always left me happy and full!

Google
I’m pretty obsessed with this place. I let myself eat lunch out while at work once a week, and it’s almost always here. The portions are great for the price - I’ve seen places in Denver that charge nearly twice as much for less food. I love that I can load up on veggies in my bowl too. The staff are SUPER friendly and I’ve never had any issues with an online order. Their pickled radish is my favorite topping!

I built my own bowl with both salmon and tuna. I like the way it turned out. It is fun to experiement with ingredients, and the servers helped give suggestions. Eating outside is really loud due to I-25 traffic, but from the downtown location, there are a lot of places to walk and find a spot to picnic.

Google
We love this place! Super kind staff and fresh fish! Everything always tastes great.

Google
I’m the first person to rant about how bad the food is in Denver (I mean it is). Decided to try this place and other that the feather hanging out in my greens- hands down the best seasoned, flavorful chicken dish I’ve had. 10/10 go try it. Think it’s called the teriyaki chicken. They give you decent portions as well. No pic cause I ate it.

Google
Great little spot for poke. Price was a little steep for a basic bowl, but they allow you to really load up on all additional items without restrictions, and that evens out the price ask I would say. You also get free miso soup - awesome! Fish was good quality - really prefer the fish bites over the fish purée that the spicy tuna comes in. Most side additions were great. On a side and weird note - they bathrooms were nice and clean haha.

Google
Always amazing food!! Price: $. I average $12 for a bowl Experience: Never a long line, and always made correctly Atmosphere: always clean and stocked up! Staff: the staff is always so friendly and welcoming. Always greeted with a hello and waved goodbye Story: My go-to order: Create your own! Such a good price and you can add so much to one bowl

Jon K.

Yelp
10/10 best poke in Denver! Great service and a nice atmosphere as well! The tempura is really good too!

Yelp
*CELIAC / GLUTEN FREE REVIEW GF options are labeled on the menu, staff are knowledgeable and will switch gloves and use seperate utensils! Due to the serving nature of the establishment, there is a risk for CC, but they do what they can to avoid it. I got a spicy tuna bowl with spicy mayo and other various GF toppings. it was tasty, filling, and I did not get sick!

Yelp
Poke house was delicious! The food was fresh and the service was quick. They have outdoor seating as well with a well covered patio. The staff was friendly and greeted us right when we walked in. There was no line so we got our order pretty quickly. The restaurant was clean and so was the bathroom. Would definitely eat here again.

Yelp
A random but yum find in CO for us! Food: -poke bowl: it was solid. The sauce was the biggest thing that was different. It wasn't bad different, but just different. I tend to be on thee more familiar side of things and so just wanted me usual spicy miso, wasabi, ginger, and type sauces, but there was more of a wasabi sauce instead of wasabi and sauces were different. It was still decent for the price and good with the toppings. Service: -very prompt, professional, did their thing well! Ambiance: -a big space, open and clean! Overall, I don't know if I'd come because I loveeee my wasabi! But if someone wanted to go, I would happily go along and just try the new wasabi sauce they have again.

Yelp
Holy skimp! $14 for a small bowl and they gave like 7 or 8 pieces of fish. My husband and I were both extremely disappointed with the portion sizes and had to go across the street to grab some empanadas cause we were still hungry. Looked at the other negative reviews and they all seem to mention portion sizes. Not that I would expect this place to be authentic but negative points for using regular steamed white rice as opposed to sushi rice. They also don't have wasabi?? Overall disappointing experience
google avatar

Austin G.

Yelp
Good poke in Denver! It didn't blow my mind but the food was solid and tasty. A little bit overpriced but definitely to be expected with poke. We ordered takeout so I can't speak to the service or ambiance but the food was pretty solid!
google avatar

Ruthy V.

Yelp
Great spot for a quick lunch. Their fish tastes fresh and the sauces are bomb. They also sell other items if you can't do fresh fish too.
google avatar

Casey P.

Yelp
Pretty solid poke! But I've tried almost all the big poke spots so I'm being a bit more critical than average. What would I change? Salmon itself was a tiny bit tough. With that said this is solid poke and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Yelp
We each had a poké bowl. Very filling with a decent amount of tuna. I would return. + friendly counter service - sterile interior. Not very relaxing. - the chairs in the outside area are too low. I felt as if my chin was on the table. $35 for lunch for 2 inc tax
google avatar

Yelp
Poke House has my favorite poke in Denver! They are conveniently located and have tons of good toppings. Every time I have visited it has been empty but I'm guessing most people take the food to go because it is a fast casual place. The service is wonderful and the prices are reasonable for the portions.
google avatar

Kim C.

Yelp
Very cute lil restaurant. I got the spicy ahi bowl. I got a lot of rice and cucumber but not a lot of fish. It was ok. I would ask for extra protein.
google avatar

Stefanie C.

Yelp
Yummy!! I love this neighborhood (the Platte Street row of eateries) and came to Poke House with my partner for lunch one weekday afternoon. Love that they have pre-made bowls to choose from. It gives me anxiety to customizable what I want every time. I got the Spicy Ahi bowl and added a few more things to make it even spicier. They're so quick and friendly here. I knew they had Hot Cheetos Spam Musubi which I NEED to get next time, but looking at their online menu, I'm now eyeing their Basil Popcorn Chicken as well. Positive associations and flashbacks to when I was younger. Cute clean restaurant with plenty of seating. I would totally come here again and bring more people. Definitely doesn't do it justice to order online or to-go.
google avatar

Rostam Z.

Yelp
Pretty good poke. I tried the tuna, spicy tuna, and salmon and all were fresh and tasty. No off notes which is always nice. Scoops for the proteins could be a bit larger as I was left with a ton of rice at the end. I also got the Dynamite Shrimp Musubi which was fantastic. Crunchy shrimp and not overly sauced. Sauce could have been a bit spicer though.
google avatar

Kristi M.

Yelp
Got this via Grubhub and wasn't disappointed in the slightest! I'm looking forward to ordering from here again AND going check out the spot IRL. Never had Spam Musubi before but wow! This was 10/10. Always wanted to try it and I'm so glad I did here. It was tasty. The salmon supreme bowl was also very good. I usually always do a build your own bowl type of moment but the flavors on this bowl were delish. I threw some Sriracha on top and chefs kiss.
google avatar

Tiffany A.

Yelp
This place was super tasty and I loved how fast casual it was! I got it for dinner before going to Cerveceria for Loteria (bingo) on Tuesday and it was relatively empty. Ended up getting the sweet ginger chicken bowl which was delicious, and a pretty good deal in my opinion for that part of downtown (under $14 for a bowl). Everything tasted really fresh and I loved the sauce/crispy onions on top. Even had leftovers for a second meal!

Yelp
tried poke house for lunch today. platte street parking can be tricky so plan accordingly. cute, beachy space with great customer service! the gentleman who made my bowl was kind and fast. everything is labeled so building a bowl is fairly straightforward. i had a small bowl, which comes with 2 scoops of protein. i really appreciate the attention to detail. they mixed my salmon and tuna in house sauce separately before placing it. the ingredients all tasted fresh. the crab salad was just okay. fish quality was lovely though! the rice was hot which made the rest of my bowl get warm quickly. i'm not sure how i feel about warm poke. I'd definitely eat this again though! price came out around $14 for the small, which was just the right amount for me to finish in a sitting. nice spot to stop in for a quick lunch. get the hot Cheeto dust.

Yelp
Having heard the buzz around Poke House, I was excited to check it out for myself. So after wrapping up classes and having a little time to spare, I decided that a little lunch was in order. So I headed over to LoHi to give Poke House a try. The LOCATION: Poke House is located in the heart of the LoHi neighborhood. This is both a blessing and a curse. The bad - parking can be a nightmare here, especially with all the construction happening. The good - the area is very walkable, and you can take the light rail very close and walk a couple of minutes to get here too; making it a commuter friendly spot. The SPACE/ATMOSPHERE: The space is very large. There are tons of seating options scattered throughout. I love the tropical print accent wall that says, "You're a catch," by the soda machine. There is a small sidewalk patio that would be great on warmer days. The EATS: For the main event, I ordered a small bowl and spam musubi. The bowls are all customizable. They do offer up some signature bowls, or you can build your own from scratch. I typically choose to build my own with: white rice, salmon, spicy tuna, crab salad, seaweed salad, sweet onion, edamame, ginger, nori, furikake, and wonton strips topped with spicy mayo and I believe the house sauce. Everything was incredibly fresh and flavorful. The spam musubi came out after my bowl and was perfectly warm. The DRINKS: Hawaiian Sun for the win!! I always try to pair my poke bowls with Hawaiian Sun drinks when available. This time was no different. I selected my favorite: Pass-o-guava Nectar. Always the best pairing. The SERVICE: The staff was both friendly and helpful while I was placing my order. This is a fast casual type restaurant, so you place your order at the counter, get a buzzer for any additional items, and pay. Pretty simple, so your interaction with the staff is fairly limited. All in all, Poke House def lived up to the hype. I'll gladly be making my way back in the future.

Yelp
Loved their Spam Masubi and classic salmon poke bowl. They have great options for the toppings and fixings, and the staff prepared the food relatively quickly.

Yelp
My coworkers and I wanted some lunch while we were at WeWork (The Lab location) and we saw Pokehouse was just downstairs! We all ordered a bunch of things and every single one was delicious! The dynamite shrimp musubi and chicken Katsu bowl were my favorites. Service was quick and the staff was so kind! Will 100% order again!

Beth H.

Yelp
It's was ok, not the best, not the worst. The menu was hard to decipher. It seemed very overpriced for what it was. I likely would not go back. The staff were very welcoming & friendly. Restaurant was clean.
google avatar

Clare C.

Yelp
Was looking for a quick place to grab a bite that had vegetarian and gluten free options so we decided on Poke House! They had some indoor seating that we could dine at. There were many pay to park spots around the area. I ordered a large vegetable bowl for ~$11. The protein was an extra charge but I was very hungry so I went for a bigger bowl without protein. I wish the different kinds of proteins were varying prices. The workers were really nice. There were many toppings to put on the bowl. I liked that you could make your own. The toppings were fresh and worked we'll together. I liked the sauces, they had great flavors. The portion and size of the bowl was fair! Overall, enjoyable experience where we could get a quick meal for everyone.

Yelp
Delicious and delivery was easy. The order minimum for delivery is pretty outrageous so I went with two spam musubis and two bowls. Color me a fat kid. The spam musubi was delicious and so was the chicken teriyaki bowl was delish. The poke bowl was decent and definitely hit the spot but the teriyaki was the real star. I totally forgot to order their mac salad so I'm kicking myself there but thankfully I'm a fan so I'll definitely order from them again.

Lindsey B.

Yelp
This is my favorite place for poke in Denver, great service, great portions, and great quality. I frequent this place and love it every time!
google avatar

Kate L.

Yelp
As soon as we entered two workers greeted us and began to take our order at the counter. They build the order in front of you, so that you can specialize the toppings you want. I got the Cali bowl and my husband got a large build your own bowl. Both of ours bowls were delicious, but we were disappointed with the amount of fish in each bowl. I loved how cute the inside was, with the neon signs and decor. It is a very casual place, but there are a few tables inside if you want to dine in!
google avatar

Joelle L.

Yelp
Was in the mood to try a new poke place and I was very satisfied with my experience at Poke House! As a person who LOVES to build their own poke bowl, Poke House does a great job providing a variety of ways to customize your poke bowl with a large variety of toppings, crunchies and sauces for you to pick from. Currently, they have a fall/winter special where you can get a free mini bowl of miso soup which is a nice added bonus. I purchased a regular sized bowl, which came to $14.04 after tax which I thought was a pretty good price for the amount of food I got. One thing I really like about Poke House is their variety in bases (salad, leaves, rice...) and being able to mix them. They mix your fish together with sauce and their mix ins (onions, masago, cilantro and stuff like that) and then add that to your rice. If you want additional sauce on your rice, the staff is more than happy to accommodate it. I really enjoyed my experience here and will definitely be back again!
google avatar

Yelp
Super delicious Poke!! I was so hungry and forgot to take photos. I got the salmon and tuna Cali Bowl. It was soooo good. I also got the Dynamite Shrimp Musubi. So yumm!! The poke bowl had a good portion of salmon and tuna which was great because some places are not that generous with their meat portion. For logistics: There is a garage public parking lot attached to the restaurant. There is also street parking right in front of the restaurant. Inside and outside seating available. All I can say is everyone must check out this spot.
google avatar

Dedo K.

Yelp
This place is a good spot for lunch. I got the Steak Bowl - Juicy marinated grilled steak served with housemade teriyaki sauce and the Spam Musubi. They were both great. I enjoyed the macaroni salad on the side of the steak bowl. Fair price with a Thai tea to wash it all down which was just the way I like it with a fair amount of cream/milk. The presentation was well done. It wasn't just thrown in the box like some to-go places. My eye is on the Dynamite Shrimp Musubi the next time I visit. The only downfall is the parking situation of this place. If you are just picking up an order good luck finding a spot. I suggest parking in any "Loading Zone" to pick up your food. The majority of the area is under construction so of course in usual Denver, CO fashion there is no available street parking. There is no point in using a parking garage to pick up your food. You may as well double park if you are trying to get back home or to your office.

Kaylan R.

Yelp
Food and service are phenom! They give you fresh quality ingredients and great portion sizes each time. Music is also always fire lol
google avatar

Claudia C.

Yelp
This place was awesome!! Drove in from aspen to the airport and I wanted poke last minute. I quickly placed an order through Yelp via Grubhub for takeout. Very extensive order because I love everything! Regular salmon bowl with rice and spring mix, cucumber, edamame, corn, sweet onion, green onion, cilantro, jalapeño, avocado, imitation crab salad, spicy Mayo, crisp onion, fried garlic, furikake, sesame seeds, I got it all! I think it came out to $16 plus I got the Spam Musubi for $3.50. Everything was delicious, would highly recommend. They had my takeout ready before I got there!
google avatar

Christina H.

Yelp
ONE OF THE BEST POKE SPOTS IN TOWN Don't sleep on poke house!! Not only do they have a huge menu, but their poke bowls are so fresh, loaded and flavorful. I've had tons of poke bowls and this is def near the top. The hot Cheetos spam musubi was definitely the rockstar in this meal- so delicious and the hot Cheetos add such a nice crunch. Trust me, you will not leave this place hungry or dissatisfied. I Loved everything I tried- plus they have free miso soup with any purchase right now!!
google avatar

FallonRaye S.

Yelp
Meh It's okay. I don't think I'll order it again. The food didn't have as much flavour as I would have liked. I didn't try the poke though. I had popcorn chicken and Katsu chicken. Maybe I will go back to try the poke. Maybe not.
google avatar

Emily C.

Yelp
Really good value for the price! I ordered a small bowl (2 scoops of protein) with a brown rice base, salmon and spicy tuna, and lots of fun veggies/toppings. It's always nice when you can pick as many toppings as you're feeling! Although there was not a ton of fish, I still found the bowl to be really filling, and would not have been able to finish a regular size. The fish tasted very fresh and all of the veggies were nice and crunchy. I am definitely coming back here the next time I'm craving poke!
google avatar

Brianna C.

Yelp
Well I'm sad that I had to rate so poorly but the lemonade was really good flavors. It was mixed well. I did enjoy my poke bowl until I found a hair in it which I pictured below. That made me decide to stop eating as that is extremely unsanitary.
google avatar

William G.

Yelp
I'm officially raising a foodie! My daughter picked this spot for dinner and introduced my wife, who is not a foodie too some food she now likes. We are visiting Denver and there are so many to choose from. We picked this one because lf location and weren't disappointed Definitely recommended. Great service and very clean.
google avatar

Bri M.

Yelp
Best Poke I have had in Denver. So good I didn't have time to take a picture! I will be back! Again, BEST IN DENVER
google avatar

Bobby H.

Yelp
Just ate at Poke House for the 90th time - long overdue for a review. This place is EXCEPTIONAL. Many restaurants in Denver are hit-or-miss. Plenty of them are just "miss". Poke House is hit. Hit. Hit. Hit. Every time. Their teriyaki and katsu are the best in Colorado. The only thing I've found that approaches it is in OC California. When I want to eat healthy, their poke is the best I have found in Colorado. They are infallibly consistent - never been anything less than delighted with the food and service and I've been there many many times. And I'm very picky and have certain expectations for service. These people nail it every time.

Yelp
The skinny: fresh poke at reasonable prices. Great byo options with generous portions. My go t poke spot. Atmosphere: Chipotle style ordering fast food sit down style with indoor and outdoor seating right by Denver beer co. Food: really good fresh fish and plentiful options of toppings. You get two proteins with a small. One of my favorite poke spots in Denver. They also have spam musubi, popcorn chicken, and a good variety of refreshing drinks. I prefer this place over Denver poke company for the taste and potion sizes. Would I come back? Yes! My go to spot for a quick healthier bite, and great to bring over to Denver beer co too!
google avatar

Priya P.

Yelp
The poke here tasted fresh and all the topping options are are amazing. I did a build your own bowl with salmon and I would highly recommend. My friend and I got the hot Cheeto spam and shrimp tempura masubi. I would get the shrimp tempura one again I've never had anything like it before. All bowls also come with a free bowl of miso soup. The staff was super kind, the place was clean, and the location was very convenient with street parking right outside. I'll definitely be back
google avatar

Sophie W.

Yelp
Pike House was pretty good! The fish was tasty and all the other ingredients were fresh. I definitely should have ordered a smaller size -- too much food. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Melissa Z.

Yelp
Great poke bowl and great portions. Always taste fresh and flavors are great! I have come here a couple times for my poke fix and each time was delicious! Ordered both times ahead and order correct and staff was friendly! Definitely recommend!

Grace K.

Yelp
skimpy with the protein portions. specifically asked for extra spicy tuna + added avocado. got neither. spent almost $100 for 2 people disappointed
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
I've been on the hunt for good poke and so far, this is the best I've found for something close to authentic. The portion on a two-scoop is a good amount if you're hungry but not super hungry. The fish is fresh and toppings are good. Naturally, if they're serving up spam masubi I'm gonna order it. I was entertained by the hot Cheetos version and ordered one of them. Pretty good!
google avatar

Jolene H.

Yelp
This place is VACATION IN A BOWL, people!! I decided, since it's Monday, to say " 'Bye, Felicia!" to making my lunch at home for the 782nd time this year and 'treat yo self'! This place is the ticket! I ordered online for pickup, super easy. I started with the Hot Cheeto Spam Musubi and realized the only mistake I made was ordering only one. You'll want at least 2 and possibly 3-4 if you're sharing with someone. Next I ordered the Build Your Own Bowl, small with spicy tuna, salmon and all the few fixings that would fit. These two items were the absolute perfect combo to beat any Monday blues and make you want to go back for more. And parking? No issue at 11:30am, plenty of meters near to go around. Do yourself a favor and plan your next staycation at Poke House, you won't regret it!
google avatar

Kim K.

Yelp
This chicken aloha bowl was sooooo delicious and the soup was good as well. Make sure you get the soup with your meal.

Yelp
It's a cute little place in downtown Denver. There are plenty of parking spots around. Inside the restaurant, there are several seating arrangements so you have plenty of room to enjoy your poke bowl or macaroon with close friends, family, or on your own. Let's start off with the poke bowl! If you are brand new to the concept, the staff is helpful and patient and will help you navigate the menu to create your poke bowl. The ingredients are fresh and full of colors. The food looks clean and not frozen. All and all, it tastes delicious as well. The macaroons are cute. This might be the first place I have been to where you can customize your own. There are several choices of cookies to choose from. I ultimately went with the unicorn because it was super adorable and something I have not seen before. I chose a strawberry ice cream to go along with it. Unlike other macaroons that I have had in the past, this was not hard but I could bite into it which was great. The macaroons actually had flavor and did not taste like artificial cardboard box.
google avatar

Olya A.

Yelp
This place is great! It's usually pretty quick. You can choose from rice, to greens, to noodles as your base, and a certain number of protein scoops per size, plus toppings. They have hot dishes (rice and chicken) that take a little longer since they have to be cooked. During the colder months they offer a free bowl of miso soup. Their ice cream sandwiches are very tasty too, especially since they are gluten free! The large is usually enough to feed myself and my 2 girls (under 10). Or I get the small for myself. Just for reference.
google avatar

Kristy Y.

Yelp
Was craving poke and poke house hit the spot. We got the basil popcorn chicken, spam masubi, shrimp masubi, salmon supreme bowl, and the steak bowl. The steak was cooked perfectly and had great grill marks. Salmon bowl had everything. The seaweed was the best. Great crunch and flavor. The popcorn chicken was spicy! It was really yummy. oh i also got the taro boba and it was so good! The masubi were alright. Good but the poke was really good. Bowls are soooo filling it could be two meals or shared. Can't wait to go back.
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
Ok, if you like all the mainland fluff in your poke, then this is your typical poke spot.... having moved here from Hawaii though, the fluff is not needed nor wanted. Thankfully, found an authentic poke spot after this try. Redeeming quality is the flamin hot Cheetos musubi - nice little twist that's flavorful.

Yelp
Poke House offers delicious poke - a great option for carry out! Their indoor seating is currently closed, but there is a nice patio outside that is open. The restaurant is located in a trendy area and the building itself is incredible. They have cute decor inside and the location is very clean. The staff are friendly and ordering is quick. The bowls are incredibly customizable, too. I highly recommend Poke House!
