Poke N Roll - Review - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"There are many, many options at Poke N Roll, another build-a-bowl option giving Glendale residents their daily raw fish. We're into the tuna here (skip the free scoop of imitation crab, because what even is that stuff?), but you can get two different types of fish if that’s your thing. There are lots of toppings on board (you won’t regret the crispy onions), and sauces too. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

Google
By far my favorite poke spot. Really delicious house made poke sauce and spicy mayo. The fish melts in your mouth and they have some unique items like crispy salmon skin. I highly recommend!

Arm Step

Google
Poke ia great. Service sucks. Also they charge extra for everything. Extra charge for a ponzu sauce? Eel Sauce? Garlic Oil? Extra .90 for green onion?

Xitlaly Sanchez

Google
By far the best poke I have tried!! I have been coming to this place for years. Seafood is always fresh! Love my salmon, and I love the portions!! The price is amazing for what you get! I hope this place stays open for a very long time so I am able to enjoy it 😊

Google
I was skeptical of the food because the restaurant itself did not smells very good. It was a bit of a dank / sour fishy smell that should be fixed. But the food was good, the portion size was also good.

Isaac

Google
Good portions. Nice staff. Sauce kinda too strong killed me whole bowl. I will say it's nice they include two premium topics. Fish didn't feel cold enough for raw fish... It was ok...

Google
Hands down, the best Poke place I have eaten at. I travel for work and I love Poke and I try to visit local Poke restaurants where I'm visiting. The large selection of seafood and toppings makes for a great meal. I love the spicy tuna, the shrimp and scallops. I usually get two scoops of crab meat and add avocado, edamame, cilantro and spicy Poke sauce. I never get tired of eating it. Co-workers say it is the best Poke restaurant they have ever eaten at. They have pretty loyal clientele. You can order online, although I have never done that, and pick up your order. There isn't a lot of seating and it's a large long table in the center and a section against the wall where you can sit and eat. Seating is usually available and most people I noticed take out their order. The parking lot is small and you can usually find parking on the street if necessary. I totally recommend this place. The owner is nice, the management is nice, the step is incredibly friendly and it's just a pleasure eating really good healthy food at this location.

Google
My go to poke spot. Everything is fresh. The Large is the value buy and plenty of food for two people.

Samatha W.

Yelp
This review is long over due because the fish here is genuinely so so so fresh! Listen, I am very picky with my fish, especially raw fish but I have never had an issue with quality here. It hits the spot every time! I only have two big issues with this place!! Management listen up, 1) where is the hair nets or hats??? 2) GLOVES!! I know you do not touch the food with your bare hands BUT, a big BUT, you do grab the sauce with your bare hand and place it right into your food. Food contamination. Now, I cant say I have ever found hair in my food or gotten sick from here. NEVER! But every time I order, I am little suspicious. Still 5 stars because the food is just that good. Please address these issues though!!

Yelp
Poke N Roll's biggest strength would have to be the freshness of the fish. The regular salmon and tuna have a lot of texture that helps them stand out among all the other ingredients and don't have any fishy smell. The spicy salmon, however, was hard to detect because it lacked texture from being really mushy and the spice was very mild and didn't stand out when there are so many other ingredients. The toppings, on the other hand, were just okay compared to how other places like Pokitomik do it. Poke N Roll lets you get two premium toppings for free such as avocado, but things like imitation crab, seaweed salad and crispy onions are considered premium here but not premium at other places. Pokitomik also just has more variety of toppings, with the hot Cheeto crumbs being one of my favorites. Between the two places, I'd pick Poke N Roll if I want better fish and pick Pokitomik if I want something more affordable and their toppings.

Yelp
Stoked on this discovery. And can't believe it's been around for so long. Been looking for a Glendale poke spot and this place slaps. Crispy salmon skin is a nice addition most places don't have. They could do with a few more toppings like sprouts and mango and tomatoes... Crispy toppings could be better quality. Fried Onions seem like cheap outsourced rather than a nice in house onion fry. Seems like the sauces take up too much area and they don't all Have to be in plastic ramekins. Generally tho, great spot. A regular.

Yelp
This is my go to spot for Poke. I can always count on this establishment for serving fresh fish and having a wide selection of options for sides. They are affordable and don't cheap out on portions. I definitely rate this as the best spot in LA hands down and it's in Glendale.

Alex L.

Yelp
My new fav poke spot near Glendale, it's hard to find poke places like this in this neighborhood, thanks very much

Yelp
THE BEST POKE EVER?? Been eating here since my college days, and now I drive an hour to get here just because I crave it so much! My Favorite part is that you can bake the fish if you cant eat raw ones,, which is what I always do!! Basically unlimited toppings, and great service. Generous portion,, ended up being $25 after tip and tax but its so worth it!!! Salmon Tempura used to not have any extra charges so thats a little sad now,, used to be my go to fish choice. But the spicy albacore, scallop and salmon are now my go-to since extra $3 is just too expensive Get the spicy mayo and eel sauce! Dont forget garlic oil and seaweed flakes for topping!

Yelp
Love this place , staff are always great and the bowls are fully loaded , no corner cutting going on here Music was a bit to techno for me but then again I'm old (58) lol Wife eats here a lot as close to work I need to eat here more often
google avatar

Michele L.

Yelp
Poke bowl is bomb. It's fresh fish . Service is good . Clean and nice ambiance . It's is my go to spot for fresh poke . I definitely recommend Poke N roll .
google avatar

Mary T.

Yelp
The poke here is very fresh and the options are good; just what one would expect. It's nice to be able to do half salad, half brown or white rice. The place is in a small strip mall with limited parking but street parking is available. We had just come from a taping of the Price is Right, so this was very convenient and my daughter had gone to this place numerous times when she worked in Glendale. We were glad that it was still here. The ambiance is so so as the large tables are not comfortable where one can sit and cross their legs; if I can't cross my legs I feel like I'm going to fall off the stool. Perhaps the could raise the tables a bit. I am not a big person!
google avatar

Diana M.

Yelp
Best poke in LA hands down. Fish is always fresh, rice taste amazing, and the toppings are always fresh as well!
google avatar

Terry S.

Yelp
Tuna quality was insane! And portions are always big. Large for 20.88$ is worth :) because u will surely be full

Anthony P.

Yelp
Was working in the area and finished up and was looking for lunch . Saw a nice poke spot and decided to go . Food looked delicious but the employee handling our order was a little rude . Food -5/5 Service -3/5
google avatar

Sharese M.

Yelp
First time trying it and I am hooked! Fresh and delicious + generous portions. Friendly staff. The house poke sauce was delicious. Officially my new favorite poke spot, I'll definitely be returning. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Athena A.

Yelp
This has quickly become one of my favorite poke places! Portions are HEAFTY, fish is always fresh and I love the variety of topping options. I don't even order ahead because service is quick, as long as you know what you want. Seating is available in the shop but I usually like to take-out. Parking might be an issue as the lot is small but there's residential streets that you can park on next to the store as well. This place is on the pricy side but trust me, once you try this poke it'll be the only one you'll crave.
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
One of the best Poke spots I've been to! Love this place! Large amount of food for a good price, good toppings, and super fresh and yummy!! Only downside is there is limited parking but SOOOOO worth it!!

David E.

Yelp
Overcharged me more than once. This has happened over 3 times I order they charge me extra and i end up not even getting the extra what i payed for

Pavel A.

Yelp
This place is amazing, i get this once a week ive never had any complaints. I highly recommend getting the spicy mayo sauce with the bowl.
google avatar

jasmine d.

Yelp
I ordered online 10 minutes before and it was all ready (three bowls!) It was very good and everything seemed and tasted fresh.
google avatar

Yelp
Poke N Roll is the definition of a hidden gem. Located in a tiny strip mall with limited parking, the restaurant is easy to overlook but well worth a try. Their ingredients are always incredibly fresh, from the crispy onion toppings to the warm and fluffy bed of rice underneath it all. It's expensive, but you get what you pay for!!
google avatar

Michael S.

Yelp
This place has taken a turn for the worst. Went from my favorite poke spot to an absolute disappointment. The amount of rice they serve is inconsistent, same employee put half the amount of rice they normally put. Twice I paid for a meal only to throw it away after a couple scoops. Please if you're management, retrain your employees to be consistent with the way you guys make these bowls. Also, if someone purchases 3 sauces, please stop trying to fit them into the bowl and squishing the entire thing only to realize it won't fit. Just put it in the bag. A smile goes a long way and it doesn't cost a penny. Two employees here could specifically take a lesson in appreciating customers and not treating us like we're the enemy.
google avatar

Christine M.

Yelp
Best service and best poke in LA. Fresh fish, amazing quality, and great toppings. I love this place
google avatar

Victor G.

Yelp
Customer service was excellent which is the only reason why I rate it 2 stars rather than 1. For the small bowl it was about $16 and some change which is above average for what it is. I was expecting a higher quality with the pricing. I was reminded about 3 times on how some sides I ordered are extra, comparing it to my usual poke spot that doesn't charge me extra for sides that I add to my bowl. What really had me going was when I asked for eel sauce and and spicy mayo and was told that it's extra. I've never encountered a restaurant so stingy with their sauces. I'll be sticking to my go to poke spot from now on.
google avatar

Christina M.

Yelp
Literally the only place I get poke from. Always consistently good. There is a great pickup option online via their website. Although my bowls are usually fairly simple. All of the ingredients have always been fresh.

James K.

Yelp
google avatar

Aline O.

Yelp
Ive been coming here for maybe 4 years now.... I moved to Santa clarita and i still do the 35/40minute drive. I love the poke here its so fresh! This is more of a pickup restaurant since there isnt much place to sit but thats ok! I wish there was more parking! The workers are so friendly. The food is fresh. Yes the prices went up but everything did! Please open more of themm!!!!!
google avatar

Matt L.

Yelp
Pretttttty darn good. A level above most poke shops but didn't HIT. Rare to find a spot that'll do tempura or baked fish options though so that's a definite plus. The homegirl working there had a stash of sesame oil that the store should stay strapped with standard. The number one lacking thing to take it up a notch was their white rice lacked the consistency, stickiness and vinegar content that I think that makes a great poke rice... but that's my personal opinion.
google avatar

Sarin P.

Yelp
I can't believe this place has been right under my nose! A real hidden gem! The quality of fish is reminiscent of a top notch sushi bar. The decor is super cool and made me feel like I was on the ocean side. I do agree that it's a bit pricey but at least you can trust that they do not spare any steps in quality and precision. Service was streamlined and I really appreciated the organization.

Bernadette ..

Yelp
Poke bowls here are the best. They were even great during the pandemic. We have had an assortment of their bowls multiple times and they are excellent. Seafood is always fresh and toppings just make it even better and they know how to make the rice just the way we like. Only tiny gripe is that their prices went up quite a bit after the pandemic but what didn't I guess. We just don't get to eat out as often as we'd like but still a faithful customer.

Ruzanna S.

Yelp
One of the best Poke places in Glendale/Los Angeles. They are my top option! Always fresh and the portions are reasonable. The only minus is the parking.
google avatar

Narbe V.

Yelp
Wow so good. Ruined every other poke place for me. A bit pricey but the ingredients are good and fresh.
google avatar

Jayseup S.

Yelp
First time here, gate say it's one of the other best poke places I've ever been to. They're really fast and well prepared. I got a medium with salmon and tuna. They were very generous with the toppings which was great
google avatar

Michelle W.

Yelp
This is hands down one of my favorite poke spot in the LA area. The place is pretty tight and small. People usually order pickup during lunch hours, which can get really packed because they have to handle online/phone orders and customers who come in and order. I feel like the fish here are fresher than other poke places. This place is on the pricier side, at least $15, but the quality is good and they give a lot and you get really filled. Totally worth it! One thing that I love about this place is that they have a bunch of sauces to choose from. For all my garlic lovers, get the garlic cream for the sauce! It's definitely a game changer and will make your poke 100% better!
google avatar

Yoojin S.

Yelp
Best place for Poke so far living in poke central Glendale!! We ordered online and picked up -- awesome easy-breezy clean pickup! They have a parking lot. Our food was already ready when we came around their pickup ETA. (Pro tip, ordering from from us.orderspoon.com/pokenroll has better priced menu than Ubereats if you're doing pickup.) We ordered large with extra scoop and yeah portions were satisfyingly big. They have EEL as one of the protein options!! We got some scoops of salmon and tuna as well. I liked that the fish chunks were big! The taste and color was fresh. Eel chunks could be bigger as well but still tasted so good. So wholesome. Fish, salad and veggies were FRESH. No wilted greens (can I hear a whoop whoop)!! Love that pineapple and avocado is not extra either. You guys are amazing. I actually really like that it's unmixed and the sauces are on the side... I appreciated every single ingredient and made trying out different sauces more fun! It also added to the freshness factor (sorry for using fresh so many times... But it really is!!). I liked Yuzu sauce with my greens (light and citrusy) best, eel with the eel sauce ofc, and spicy with the tuna/salmon. I made little mix and match california rolls out of my poke bowl. Yuzu was my favorite and the spicy sauce was my family's favorite.
google avatar

Eleena H.

Yelp
This is my second time coming to Poke N Roll and I am obsessed. The service is always on point, fish is fresh, and portions are massive. I got a small portion but the box was filled to the brim! I got the ponzu sauce and house poke... bomb!!
google avatar

Nikki C.

Yelp
My favorite poke place, hands down. The location is in a small shared parking lot with a couple of other business, the parking situation isn't the best as the lot is small and the street parking can be quite busy. I've gotten delivery from here many times before and have used their online ordering option for pick up a couple of times - never really had any issues other than parking. The unique thing about this place is that they give you the option to bake any of your fish selections (for an additional fee) and they also have tempura options (shrimp and salmon) to add to your bowl, almost all poke places I've been to mostly only provide raw fish options. They have bases such as white rice, brown rice, spring mix, or a combo of three. They have quite a variety of toppings as well. It's pricey but for the variety of options they provide I'll keep coming back.
google avatar

Vanand M.

Yelp
I wanted to give 3 stars but I could not. Hands down the best poke in LA and I've had soooo many places nothing comes close. The best quality fish but for me the game changer is the rice. So warm and fresh and amazing. Just one thing the service is TERRIBLE. The workers have a terrible attitude and seem mad that you come and order food. But the food is so good that I swallow the fact that I know for sure I will be annoyed while I order.
google avatar

Brooke T.

Yelp
I'm confused how many of the reviews here are so over-inflated. The bowl I got was a solid 3.25/5. Maybe they're ordering a different type of fish. I got spicy albacore and tuna with every topping and the spicy poke sauce (per the worker's recommendation) and found it way too sweet. From looking at menus from 1-2 years ago, seems like prices have gone up a lot recently. A medium bowl with no extra is $16 now compared to $12 1-2 years ago. That's not a fault of theirs as it's probably due to the staffing shortage and inflation, but just know that the pictured prices don't match up with current prices. This is pretty much a pick up place, but there is some very limited seating if you want to eat inside.
google avatar

Olga M.

Yelp
Best poke in Los Angeles! Always fresh and delicious! Staff is very friendly and nice Highly recommend this place!
google avatar

Nick N.

Yelp
My favorite poke bowl spot EVER. I've tried many different poke bowls, but this one remains the best value. Been coming here for over 5 years. Although the price has definitely increased over the years, they have kept the same size and quality. I usually get their spicy tuna, tuna, and salmon for the fish selection. They are unique in that they have cream cheese as one of their toppings. I usually get their spicy poke sauce and spicy Mayo. The interior is small so I usually do takeout. Only poke bowl that I consistently crave!
google avatar

Rebecca W.

Yelp
TLDR; HUUUUUGE PORTIONS, super fresh fish, and cool protein choices like salmon skin and unagi!!! Man, I think this is now my favorite poke place in Glendale. For only $13, you can practically get two meals worth. The amount of protein they give you is incredibly generous. Like, HEAPS OF PROTEIN. I got 2 scoops of salmon, and 1 scoop of salmon skin, which they heat up for you. Not only that, YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY EXTRA FOR AVOCADO!!! Sailormoon meme; is this UTOPIA???? Avocado can be one of the two sides you get, which is a huge A++++ in my book. I thought it was interesting that they don't mix the sauces into the poke for you. Instead, they give you pre-packaged little plastic containers. I personally just prefer my poke with traditional shoyu or sesame oil. There is a small private lot for parking in the plaza, and limited street parking. I personally didn't have a problem finding a spot on a Sunday evening hahaha. PSA - Shoutout to the asian girl working the counter on June 9, 2019 near closing time. You are AWESOMESAUCE and are the definition of impeccable customer service. I hope you or your supervisor sees this and gives you kudos for that :-)
google avatar

Martin H.

Yelp
Hands down best poke place in the foothills area. I'm in Pasadena and the best poke we have is Poke Salad bar and it's mid at best. Every time I'm in Glendale and I'm hungry, I stop by poke n roll for lunch or dinner. EVERY TIME. Super bomb, staff is friendly, fish is fresh, you can get yellow tail or bake a fish, and all they're flavors are top notch. Love.
google avatar

Stephanie G.

Yelp
I always come and order here whenever I am in Glendale area. I like how you can still order through orderspoon.com for pick up it's easier and convenient for me. I read some reviews that customer service isn't that great I personally haven't encountered that but ordering online and picking it up is a great alternative. Their fish is always fresh and I love the variety of options to choose to make your bowl so good. I love the garlic oil and the veggies are fresh and crisp which is hard to find in most places.
google avatar

Karen K.

Yelp
Pros: -large (3 types of fish) is huge - they use heaping scoops of fish -unique items like unagi, smelt roe, and garlic oil -I like how the sauces and wasabi come on the side so you can mix and use the amount you want. I hate when poke is too salty when you choose salad as a base. It was nice to be able to mix the wasabi in a sauce mixture, and pour it evenly over my salad. Wasabi chunks suck. Cons: -imitation crab is considered one of the main items rather than a topping -only 2 included toppings. Pay $1 for additional. -.50 cents extra for any cooked fish. -unagi takes a long time to heat up -I didn't see any items under $10. The medium (2 scoops) is $10.99. The large (3 scoops) is $12.55 -very tight parking lot, with dangerous drivers. Too many cars during Saturday lunch time.

Yelp
This place USED to be my favorite poke spot in all of LA and surrounding areas. Quality was good, they didn't charge extra for everything, and price was decent. NOW? It took a bad turn after not coming here for almost 4years. They charge for almost everything now. Hear me out, I'll pay for good quality food but nothing about their (almost $7 increase) was reasonable at all and that's if you didn't do any add ons. I paid almost $22 for a bowl. That used to be $13 (and I thought that was pushing it at the time). I just didn't see how they justified this steep increase while quality was diminished. This would have been 3 stars however guy who helped us didn't have the friendliest vibe. The demeanor of your workers represent you (the owner) and your business. It just wasn't a good look for the business or a representation of what this place used to be. As much as I hate to say it, I don't see myself paying $22 again so I can't come back to this place with these prices.
google avatar

Big Rob E.

Yelp
Why you all mad... cause I had the guts to tell you (to your face) that you're rude....and warn people NOT TO EXPECT FRIENDLY SERVICE here? Just saying - SIXTY FIVE OTHER Yelpers say the same thing..."RUDE people work there" Even your last post - cursing me out is proof you don't care. (Glad you came to your senses and Deleted it...maybe you realized cursing at customers isn't the smartest thing to do)...Just in case our fellow yelpers didn't see it... I'll share with the pic below And your memory is fading. 1) My name isn't Audrey, 2) I hate Baked Salmon 3) I was timing you from the parking lot and wrote the minutes in my review 4) YOU DID NOT bring it out to parking lot and had it sitting in the back (If you did - that would have COMPLETELY changed my review)
google avatar

Linnet A.

Yelp
If I could give this place a 0 I would. As soon as I walked in, I got the feeling that this would not end well. Behind the glass where the food is prepared looked like a hot mess and the workers were not wearing gloves. I felt that I would find something in my food (always trust your intuition) and sure enough I see a piece of black hair intertwined in the rice (look next to the ginger). This place is DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've gone to MANY poki places in Glendale and this is not it you guys....I'm a foodie but would avoid this place like the plague.
google avatar

Yelp
Best Poke in LA. The put places like Sweetfin to shame. Great options. Consistent quality. May I recommend a large for twice as much and only $4 more than the small. If you don't like this poke place something is wrong with you
google avatar

Ed T.

Yelp
Good poke place, delicious fish, plenty of sauce selection and toppings. Cozy seating area
google avatar

Brian C.

Yelp
I got the small poke, you get 2 fish, delicious fresh fish, the bluefin tuna was so amazing! Excellent toppings and the staff is super friendly. This is the best poke I've had
