11 Great Spots To Get Poke In SF

"It should be pretty clear by now that we can’t resist a great poke spot. And we have even less self-control when it comes to a great poke spot with 18 different types of proteins. Poke Origin has your typical salmon or spicy tuna, but they also have octopus, scallop, lobster tail, and spam. The fish is nice and fresh, and we’re big fans of their spicy aioli." - julia chen 1

Solid poke place. I like how you check what you’d like to have in your bowl on a little paper sheet like a deli sandwich order. There are lots of good options. Would recommend and go back. Regular bowl size is a sizable portion. Minor details but wasabi is the fake stuff- colored radish probably because it doesn’t taste like actual wasabi- and adding a small scoop of avocado adds $1.25. Indoor and outdoor seating available. I recommend half rice and half mixed greens as a base- it’s a great mix in my opinion!

Google
I really don’t like giving bad reviews! 😩 but this place was not it. Shame on me for getting my hopes up and expecting authentic poke. We came here right at opening. The woman who was behind the counter was not happy to see us. Maybe she was having a bad day, but there were no smiles or pleasant greetings. The food did not look great. The fish was chopped in tiny pieces! And the portions were very small. I ordered the unagi (HUGE mistake) I swear someone from the back brought it out from the microwave. It was mushy and fishy and disgusting. The ahi was whatever. The spicy ahi was practically already chewed up for you. I would not come back here, I would not recommend this place. Really poor quality. Bad service. Not aloha!!

Came here w/ my friends when craving poke and it def hit the spot. The surrounding area is nice and the inside is clean w/ seating but there's also places to stand outside well ona nice day. The poke is the cheapest I've ever had in the bay, $13.99 for 3 scoops of protein? Pretty lit. The fish is pretty good quality as well. Some require $2 upgrades as well as some of the toppings (ie a lil bit of tamago for $0.75 and avocado $1.25) However, if you don't pay the upgrades there are still plenty of other options to fill out your bowl. I will say, some of the reviews on here say that they give you TONS of protein but I wouldn't agree, it's a standard amount but still definitely enough to fill you up. You write your order on a sheet to give them so you can pretty much take as long as you want when deciding what you want which is pretty nice.

I have now been 5-6 times. Once in Fall 2020 and I felt the order process went wonderfully, staff was kind, and my bowl was incredible. It took several months, but I returned in February of 2021. Before my visit I saw a negative review about food poisoning. Despite this, I recalled my positive experience and decided to return. It was even better than the first time! I am writing one week after my second visit, and I was served only the freshest ahi tuna along with my (imitation) crab. The staff was friendly again, portions were excellent (especially the proteins and ginger), and I can't wait to return! Went back in May and June 2022 and it was excellent every time. Service is good and food is fresh!

Google
Friendly staff and clean place. Some food are fresh and some aren’t. Kinda stingy on portion and protein is not as good as other poke bowl restaurants. $2 extra for the “real crab” is a big trick since they put 90% of mayonnaise and 10% of crab in there. It’s ok to try but absolutely not coming back.

Tamara Prstic

Google
Extremely large chunks of fish, very fishy flavor, generally didn’t taste fresh at all. Would avoid, certainly one of the worst poke bowls I’ve had.

Google
We were in Golden Gate Park craving poke, and Poke Origin was our nearest location. It is conveniently situated just south of the park. We went around dinner time, and the place was packed (which is usually a great sign!). Despite the crowd, the poke itself came out pretty quick! You write your order on a piece of a paper then give it to the line workers. Our group was overall satisfied with the bowls. The servings were generous and filling. Some toppings were missed on the bowl, but I recognize it was likely short-staffed and during the rush. They had some great unique options, and I’d go back soon for another taste of the salmon. P.S. My friend said don’t pay extra for the mango. The pieces were small and didn’t add much flavor to her bowl.

James Simpson

Google
The portions are huge with lots of great topping selections. I will warn that the taste of your bowl is highly dependent on your selections. The first time I went, I wasn't very pleased but I went again the very next day, picked different base and toppings, and it was delicious! Today will be my 7th day straight (not kidding).

Yelp
I came here on a Wednesday night with a friend. While most people seemed to order poke to-go, my friend and I stayed to eat in the restaurant that can seat around less than 20. The decorations are minimal and tropical themed, with the workers being very sweet. I ordered a regular poke bowl with sushi white rice as my base and scallop and spicy tuna and salmon as my proteins. The bowl was well-proportioned and worth the price. I believe the ingredients were pretty fresh, and there was a good amount of protein compared to the other toppings. Rather than the poke being served immediately, we waited for around 10 minutes for our poke. Besides the slower service than I expected, the poke bowl was delicious & well-priced!

Yelp
My husband and I ordered from Poke Origin through DoorDash for a weekday dinner and opted for pickup. The food was ready on time, which was great for a quick and convenient meal at home. However, there were a couple of things about the experience that left me disappointed. First, the "bag fee" policy felt unnecessary and confusing. Even if you select "no" to utensils, you're still charged $0.25 per order for a bag. Considering we received two items in a single paper bag, this charge seems arbitrary. Why not just include the fee in the item price instead of making it a separate charge? Weird user experience. Second, and more importantly, the quality of the food was disappointing. While the portions were generous, the scallop, salmon, and tuna in my bowl didn't taste fresh. The other ingredients also lacked flavor, and overall, the bowl wasn't enjoyable. I couldn't taste the sauces I added to my bowl so I ended up eating ~20% of it before throwing the rest out. I love supporting local spots, but based on this experience, I wouldn't be eager to return. Freshness and flavor are key for a poke bowl, and unfortunately, this fell short on both fronts.

Yelp
This is a good Poki Bowl place in the sunset in SF. My favorite Bowl is the White Rice Both Spicy Crab and Regular Crab with jalapeños, onions, cilantro, spicy mayo. That's my style of Poki bowl. I always come here to get points on my clover app I got about 5 or 6 points on the clover app. If you get 10 points or more on the clover app if you visit Poke Origin. You'll get a free bowl on your next visit.

Yelp
Had time to rate my order but forgot my drink, 2/10 big yikes! Also charge for "bag fee" for each item on doordash but gave me one bag anyway

Yelp
Fill out one of these order forms. You have a choice of three scoops $13.99 or five scoops $16.99 of protein. Everything else is unlimited. In my five days of stay in San Francisco, I came here twice. Portion is good. There is five minute parking in front of the business. My one gripe is that food is served out of hard plastic .
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick pick up and all of the ingredients are fresh! They're very generous with portions here. My local go-to in the Sunset for a quick healthy meal. Quick service and clean space.

Yelp
Ugh, I've been here several times because I really want to like it. Very customizable menu, clean restaurant, friendly staff, great location, fair price point. But the poke consistently isn't fresh, and their flavor profiles are lacking... flavor. If I come back here and food is improved I'll update my review.

Yelp
I ordered the teriyaki chicken bowl and it's definitely mediocre. The teriyaki chicken does have teriyaki sauce on it but it seems like it might have been poached or just cooked on a medium high griddle. Not noticing any charring on it that you'd get from grilling or broiling. But also the rice is very dense/stuck together. And they didn't really put any seasoning on it, so underneath the cucumber, edamame, and corn it's just very flavorless. The kimchee is good. I would not order from here again, not even the fish, which seems like would be even less flavorful.

Yelp
Very quick service and filled to the brim with fish and toppings:) Was very pleased and felt very refreshed with this meal after hiking mount sutro. The place was spacious and empty on a Sunday afternoon which was a nice break from how bustling Irving st was at this time. Would come back if I was craving poke.

Yelp
This poke shop is decent. I would go here if you want good enough food under $20. The regular size is $15.20 with tax and all the nonsense SF fees. Staff there is nice. The Street taco shop next door sells their burrito for $18. So take your pick on what type of calories you want. This is not a place a go out of my way, but if you are walking around Irving and want something that's not American, worth a try without getting a sensation that you are over stuffed.

Yelp
Pretty solid poke place with big portions for fish! The toppings have great variety and the fish was fresh. I would come here again

Yelp
I had been hanging in the Inner Sunset area, which is one of my favorite areas in the city, and was looking for a nearby Poke place. When I came here, it was still take out only, no indoor dining yet. I went with all salmon with a spring mix base, with all the fixins. I did appreciate that they were generous with the salmon and ginger, most poke places I have to ask for extra ginger. I always like the places that have you fill out your order on a form, checking the boxes, and you can watch them or not if you want. That poke bowl really hit the spot!!!

Yelp
Drove from SoCal for a summer trip with my 4 year old and we were quick to spot this place. She has been saying she wants to eat fish and shrimp so we decided to stop by. They had great food and the place is very neat and clean . The beautiful lady was so kind to send my daughter a free soda on our way out too ! I don't usually leave reviews but its nice to know that kind people do really still exists . Thank you

Yelp
Wanted something light for lunch and decided on poke bowls. Note - options for ordering online are limited vs ordering at the shop. For example, couldn't order half and half bases online and more options to choose from in person. Ordered the small bowl that comes with 3 proteins. Seemed a bit small in comparison to other poke bowl shops for the price. Ordered my bowl with a greens and kelp noodle base. scallops, salmon, and spicy tuna, sesame aioli and citrus yuzu, as well as various toppings. Overall, it was ok but felt the flavor profile was lacking something. I like kimchi, but this kimchi was a bit overpowering.

Yelp
I ordered from Poke Origin twice from Ubereats now and they have a good variety of fishes and toppings. Quality was better the first time. Sauces: Spicy poke sauce: 4/5 Not too spicy, have a sweet taste to it, Spicy aioli: 5/5 typical Sriracha and mayo, matches the fishes the most Creamy Wasabi: 3/5 Not spicy, mild wasabi taste, I would pick spicy aioli over this Toppings: Salmon: 3/5 Okay fresh, have a good salmon taste Scallops: 3/5 Okay fresh, a little plain, and don't have the usual scallop flavor Octopus: 3/5 A little dry Crab salad: 4/5 Can really go wrong with this, but can add a little more mayo Hamachi ( need to add $2): 4/5 Okay fresh, has a very deep hamachi taste, my favorite topping out of all Rice: a little too wet even before the sauce ( rice on the bottom is soggy and there were no sauce on the bottom)

Yelp
Great poke place in Inner Sunset! Ordering can be done on little slips of paper near the front door. Lots of options that go into your poke bowl without paying extra. There are more premium items (avocado of course) that can add an extra $1-2 to the order but generally even without adding the premium items, there are a lot of ingredients to pick. In terms of price I would say poke bowls have gone up but that's probably due to the price of ingredients going up. My last order here was just shy of $20 as I added 2 premium items. Out of the many options here in Inner Sunset, this place is a great lunch or dinner place if you need something to go and also something light but satisfying. There are seating inside that face the wall and windows.

Yelp
I love places that have an order form for you to fill out -- give you lots of time to plan out your bowl and gives them clear directions on how to assemble without any errors. Parking can be challenging in this neighborhood. We happen to be at GGP and just walked over. Too bad they're not open for dine in so back to the park we went and had a picnic instead. 5 scoops bowl $14.50 3 scoops bowl $11.99 extra scoop is $2 Love that they have kelp noodles as an option for keto friendly meal. They have interesting protein options but those are extra so we didn't try any. I would recommend having sauces on the side so that you can control how saturated your bowl gets. There are lots of varieties for toppings. Lastly for people who don't want raw seafood, they have two cooked options. Service was great. They're not accepting apply pay currently. Some of their fish looked a little dry but we didn't order those. All of our bowls were tasty but nothing amazing stood out so I would rate this average. My large bowl with 5 proteins was a good portion but it's also almost $15 so you kinda get what you pay for. If you're in the area and need something quick that's also healthy, this might be a good option.

Yelp
I've been coming here since they opened (fun fact, this used to be a family-owned diner that had been around for many years!) Anyway, Poké Origin uses fresh ingredients (at least they taste fresh!) and their bowls are very generous size, even the regular sized bowl can fill you up! I will usually get a varied fish bowl or sometimes a chicken teriyaki bowl which is SOO GOOD! Very clean restaurant and the staff is always quite friendly and prepare bowls quickly.
google avatar

Antonio A.

Yelp
Very average poke. The fish quality is lackluster and not exciting. Sushi rice had no seasoning or vinegar taste. The toppings appear to be cut carelessly, I had some pieces of jalapeño and cucumber that were way too thick in my opinion. The service is very lack luster and I personally felt the cashier lacked any sort of charm or welcoming attitude, just my advice on how to improve. Price is good.

Yelp
Whenever I am in the Sunset area, this is one of my top choices, specially when I want to eat a bit healthier/less greasy. I always get salmon here; it tastes fresh and buttery. I have never had a bad experience myself with their poke. I get 3 scoops of salmon, 1 scoop octopus, and the last scoop varies depending on my mood. I love the kelp noodles as an option for low carb, though I would recommend asking for some sauce on it, otherwise there is no flavor. The large bowl is enough for 2 people to share, imo. Love the various toppings; I do miss when they offered jellyfish as topping and also nachos for the base. Hope they bring them back! Service is also very fast. I would say this is my favorite poke place due to the taste, various toppings, and portions.

Yelp
I was about to order but the guy was sorting the recycling with his gloves but as I watching him, he just washed his gloves instead of putting a new one on. Smh. Put a new glove when serving food. I left.

Yelp
Whenever I do research on a restaurant on Yelp, it's not all that different than what anyone else would do - read about the experiences friends and fellow Yelpers have had, flip through the photos, and read through the menu. One last thing I make a point of doing, though? Checking out how their rating is trending (the little "details" box next to their overall average). It's one thing when you see a place consistently getting the same rating over and over again. It's another when you see a pattern of decline. Which, sadly, seems to be the case with Poke Origin. To think, I used to really like this place too! Even though I never got around to posting review after first trying Poke Origin a couple of years ago, it was never because I couldn't decide if they were good or not. Rather, I just couldn't figure out just how many stars to give! For me, it was pretty clear that they were deserving of a good review. Not only was my poke bowl sizable, but their menu of choices was very extensive (they've even got lobster tail!), the fish was fresh, and the condiments/toppings all looked terrific. Quite simply, everything tasted great. What's more, the workers were all super friendly and nice! -- LARGE POKE BOWL #1 - Sushi White Rice, Salmon, Tuna, Imitation Crab, Avocado (+$1), Seaweed Salad, Red Onions, Wasabi, Furikake, and Fried Garlic Chips with Mild House Poke Sauce (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/poke-origin-san-francisco-2?select=0C4PCfRn4X6iTum0qvTyaA) Fast forward to this last visit and, unfortunately, the experience wasn't nearly as impressive. Coincidentally, my order was almost identical to what I got the first time I came here - a LARGE POKE BOWL with Sushi White Rice, Salmon, Tuna, Octopus, Avocado (+$1), Seaweed Salad, Red Onions, Wasabi, Furikake, and Fried Garlic Chips with Mild House Poke Sauce and Spicy Aioli ($13.99). While the bowl was just as loaded as I remember, the taste of everything was just okay. The salmon was fine, but the tuna didn't seem quite as fresh, the octopus was squishy, and the sauces didn't mesh (though, that's more on me). Even the sushi rice was a little off (it was mushier than I recall). -- LARGE POKE BOWL #2 - Sushi White Rice, Salmon, Tuna, Octopus, Avocado (+$1), Seaweed Salad, Red Onions, Wasabi, Furikake, and Fried Garlic Chips with Mild House Poke Sauce and Spicy Aioli (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/poke-origin-san-francisco-2?select=p5taVns6ldTvxU6pDLyy0w) Beyond the food, the service here didn't seem quite as stellar. For as warm and welcoming as it was the first time around, things felt more robotic in a sense. That's not to say they failed or anything; it's just that the process felt more transactional than personable - take order slip, mix ingredients, assemble bowl, add toppings, ring order at register. Still, this was far better than the reverse (being nice but getting orders), so I guess this would qualify as more of an observation than a complaint. All in all, had I finished this review right after that first visit, this would've easily been a four star review (I debated on giving five stars). Now, it's more like a three - not bad, just not amazing. Still, as much as I bemoan how Poke Origin isn't as good as it used to be, they're nowhere near awful and certainly better than the poke options near my office. It's also possible that this last trip was more of an aberration. Either way, I imagine I'll be back at some point, whether to try some of their more unique options (lobster tail, snow crab) or to just give them another shot. When I do, hopefully it'll be more like my first visit and less like my last!

Yelp
Large portions--very filling. Tasty food. Lots of options. A good occasional alternative to sushi.

Yelp
The food here is ok but the service was questionable. I ordered through an app for a regular poke bowl of sushi rice, spicy tuna, spicy cran, and tofu. I waited outside for a bit until it hit my time frame for pickup. I then waited inside so that I could be ready when the food was prepared. While me and another customer waited, we were never greeted nor asked what we needed help with, the staff just continued to prep more and more bowls even though 2 or 3 were already packed and ready. Then on of the staff went to the back to prepare I think sauce while we waited more. When he came back out he just continued to prep more bowls. I checked my phone it was already going to pass my pickup time frame so I approached the counter and no one even acknowledged that I was trying to get their attention. After standing by the pickup counter for 2 mins the employee finally asked what I needed. I told him which app I ordered from and he picked up a bowl that was already prepared the whole time before I even came into the store. I'm not sure if they have an option to alert customers on apps when orders are ready, but I was never notified of a ready order. There was only one other person in the store with me so they couldn't have had a lot of initial orders to prioritize at the time. I can understand and can be patient if they were really busy but they didn't even acknowledge us or apologize for making us wait. Their food tasted pretty decent and they allow a lot of different toppings without extra charge. However, out of the three of my scoops, they did not include my tofu. I thought maybe it was under my toppings but I did not see a single cube. The rice also was labelled as "sushi white rice" but it only tasted like regular steamed rice. At around $12 for a 3 scoop regular bowl, the pricing is not too bad but I don't think I would go back due to the issues I mentioned.

Caroline O.

Yelp
Don't order food from this place through any delivery service. I ordered mild sauce and the dish they gave me tasted as if they dumped a whole jar of hot chili sauce into it...even my husband couldn't eat it. It was disgusting. If Poke Origin messes up your order, not only does it NOT apologize, but THE MANAGER will tell you to make the delivery service (in this case, DoorDash) give you a refund: essentially making DoorDash PAY for THEIR mistake. That is pretty pathetic and incredibly dishonest. I'll be filing a complaint with DoorDash.
google avatar

Colleen M.

Yelp
I live pretty close by, but this will probably be the first and last time I stop by. Main issues: the spicy tuna in my bowl tasted odd (old fish that's been left out?), and there were almost no toppings. Of everything I requested, there was barely a dash. Edamame? 4 pieces. Seaweed salad? A few strings. Other toppings? Who knows if they were even in there. Plenty of rice and kimchi, but I couldn't even tell if the sauce was in there. To top it all off, the woman behind the register assembling the bowls (though hats off to her for running this alone) went between handling food and credit cards without swapping/taking off her gloves. Currently nursing a growing stomach ache so... will leave with that. I'm sure they're otherwise good, but it was a disappointing experience to say the least.

Yelp
Service was good, ambience is nice, the food is good im just not sure the raw fish is safe or healthy for raw consumption. I got salmon as one of my proteins and it tastes off compared to other raw salmon I've had.

Yelp
Poke Origin is definitely one of my top local picks for poke spots! They have: - lots of variety - good portion size - great flavoring what else do you look for in a poke spot aside from these? I ordered the regular size and boy did it fill me up. I ordered it with octopus, eel, sweet corn, cilantro, seaweed salad, masago, eel sauce and that was plenty for me. I loved that they did not over drench the sauce on my rice or even on the fish and toppings because I like my rice on the bland size so I can mix it all together myself and not feel like I'm drinking poke soup haha. Everything tasted so fresh and even with eel being an extra charge, they did not skimp on the eel as I got full pieces of the eel [three to be exact]. The flavoring hits the spot. If you're in the area looking for a top poke spot, poke origin is definitely a top pick in my book!
google avatar

Alexander C.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this as a casual lunch! I got two scoops of salmon and one of the ahi tuna. The fish was fresh and I felt the regular (3 scoops of protein) was a good portion size. There's a large selection of toppings to choose from, but unfortunately they don't have jellyfish anymore. Definitely give the spicy house poke sauce a try!
google avatar

Tammy P.

Yelp
The portion sizes are way off. I ordered one small bowl and one large bowl and they are exactly the same. If I am paying for the large portion, I would expect it to be the correct size. Don't put it in a large bowl and charge it at a premium when it's far from it. So disappointed. Just order the small and don't waste your money on the large.
google avatar

Lili H.

Yelp
Ordered take out last night for 4 people. The original size 3 scoops was just enough food for one. Not feeling stuffed. The odd part is I did not need bag or utensils but on the take out app doordash, it still charges $.25 for a bag for each item.
google avatar

David L.

Yelp
Friend took me here and I am glad I did! They make some quality poke bowls and they have lots of items to choose from. I like ordering on paper and giving it to them to prepare. Even though there was a minimal line when we were there, ordering on the paper made the process faster and easier to me. We got one salmon bowl and an uni bowl with various toppings. Very fresh and yummy! I will definitely be back to try the other protein options with my eye on the lobster tail since they told me the tail is a pretty good size for not too much more $!
google avatar

Bob K.

Yelp
Good spot for quick takeout poke. Reliable and fresh. Bit of a weird order form model, but I guess it minimized interaction during COVID. Rough parking on Irving, but worth a couple of circles.

D H.

Yelp
Ingredients were decent and portion size was reasonable but the overall dishes were just okay (partly due to not being well mixed).
google avatar

Yelp
This has always been one of our favorite poke places. It's fresh and convenient. However, their portions for the large are much smaller now. Very disappointing.

Yelp
I found dead mosquito in my bowl.October 7, 2021. The mosquito was in the mix's of the sushi. I don't I will be going back to this store! Lost my appetite! This ready don't need a star

Yelp
I ordered a regular poke bowl and the fish was not fresh and the service was bad don't recommend
google avatar

Kelly Y.

Yelp
I typically go to PokeBowl location, but I decided to give this place a try. The portions are very small here, and some ingredients lack flavor. First, the bowl was almost just rice, so they're stingy with both protein and toppings. Second, there was a lack of sauce. I chose the Unagi sauce and the Spicy house but didn't taste any unagi sauce. As for the toppings, it's great that they have so many options but again, they are very stingy with them. Jellyfish barely had flavor, and I finished all the edamame in two bites because there weren't a lot of them. Overall, the bowl satisfied my Poke craving, but I don't think I'll come here again.

Yelp
Just went there today for lunch and got what I believed to be bad service. Instead of let me pay for my poki bowl which was ready, he grabbed another order sheet and started to fill up the other order. What really anger us was after he was done with filling the bo for the other order he went straight to the cash register and let the other customer who was way behind us to pay first. I CANNOT TOLERATE THIS KIND OF SERVICE. Rare that I update my 5 stars to 1 star review.

Yelp
I love poke and have been going to Poke Origin about once every two weeks for the past year or so. My last few visits have been extremely disappointing. I'm not sure if they have either forgotten the sauce completely or are just being extremely stingy but I haven't seen or tasted any of the sauces I've selected in the last two bowls I've gotten. This makes the rice dry and flavorless, since it also isn't seasoned like regular sushi rice. Speaking of rice, the brown rice I got in my bowl tonight had globs of PAPER TOWEL in it. Unacceptable. I like their system of submitting their order on paper and their fish is generally tasty but I will not be going back for a long time, if ever.

Yelp
Ordered delivery due to Covid. You essentially create your own bowl by choosing 3 or 5 scoops of poke, the base, toppings and sauces. We ordered the regular size (3 scoops) and the portion was generous. When we ordered it, we noticed that we couldn't detect any sauce in our bowls and the order didn't have any sauces on the side. We called the restaurant and instead of admitting their mistake, they stated that they indeed put the sauces in the bowls, but may just have been in the lighter side. This was just a blatant lie. I could say that perhaps make an argument that the soy sauce was so light that I couldn't taste it, but one of the bowls was supposed to come with creamy wasabi, and I'm sorry, but there was no wasabi flavor to be detected. This experience probably influenced the food experience, but the flavors were average at best. Not sure if this was a fluke, but due to the poor experience, I'll probably try one of the many other poke places in the area before returning.

Yelp
I don't eat poke often but when I know good poke when I taste it. Poke Origin by far is one of the best poke I've ever had. When it comes to having the perfect poke bowl for me, the must haves include the following: - Salmon - Spicy tuna - Albacore - Mixed Greens Poke Origin had all the above for my bowl and when it was combined with their Kimchee Sauce, the bowl was complete. If I had to guess, I'd say their fish is well-maintained and kept in good serving conditions. Quality and taste is what I really motivated me on the 5 stars here.

Yelp
I hate to give a negative rating however, i got extremely sick off their poke. Please get better food storing practices.

Yelp
Again after pickup and taking the bowl home, I find that after paying $20.00 including tip, I'm not returning anymore. I'd like the bowl filled the way it used to be. There is hardly any fish at all. There is a nice place on Ocean Ave by Whole Foods that does "fill" their poke bowls. Maybe buy smaller bowls if you are not going to fill them.

Yelp
I would say Poke Origin is one of my top spots for poke bowls! One thing that sets them apart from their competitors is that they have escolar (super white tuna) and hamachi as two of their protein choices. I came in to grab a quick lunch with a friend. The employee helping us was really nice. I got massaged/marinated kale for my base, with 2 scoops of salmon and 1 scoop of escolar, + a bunch of toppings of course. The regular bowl comes with 3 scoops of fish and is $10. The protein portions are pretty big, so I was pretty happy about that! I also liked how seaweed salad is included as a side and is not extra charge. They also have a varity of sauces to choose from, and you can choose up to 3. We ate our bowls after getting home and everything tasted fresh! I've also ordered from Poke Origin with my family via UberEats. 3 of us split a large and it was pretty filling.

Yelp
Pretty okay poke option if you'd like something local, but the amount of fish per scoop seemed very little compared with other places- when they ran out of hamachi and gave me half a scoop, they made no attempt to refill their bucket and get me a full scoop. Also, their tuna did not taste very fresh. Great variety of toppings overall, and the mix of sauces were tasty. TLDR; I'd say mildly overpriced for the quantity and quality of fish offered, though the toppings and sauces were decent.

Yelp
I've been here 3 times now after recently moving to the sunset and was really hoping to find a new favorite poke place conveniently nearby. Unfortunately that's not the case and at this point I may not give them another try. There's been no problem with the quality of the fish in terms of getting sick or noticing an off taste. And all the other ingredients seem relatively fresh too and I love that they have so many options. However, the amount of fish and toppings they put on is so minuscule for the amount of money per bowl! I understand restaurant costs are high, especially after this last year but it's gotten to absurdly small portions lately which I just find not worth it. Additionally, they've gotten part of my order wrong every time I've gone. Twice was in person and once was through their online order form so it seems both methods have issues. This last time they even forgot one of the types of fish I requested, as well as 3 of the toppings. Would maybe try them again in the far future but for now I'll be going back to my old favorite place and just braving the longer drive.

Yelp
Large portions, better prices, lower quality fish. Pros: + Regular gives you 3 scoops + $10 for a regular (huge!) + Large variety of toppings and protein Cons: - Sushi rice @ 6PM was terribly hard and clumpy - Kale has this sour-ish taste (is it the dressing?) - Ahi tuna was rough and not fresh (frozen maybe?) - Hamachi is +$2 (not at Poki Time though) My Bowl: Half white "sushi rice" half kale Salmon (good), Albacore (ok), Ahi Tuna (meh) Red and green onion, sweet corn, masago, furikake The rice and kale failed so miserably that the meal was not enjoyable. Each bite of protein includes rice or kale and...sigh. I normally get hamachi, but since they charge here, I got ahi tuna and albacore to replace. I'm more for quality, so the price might be right at Poke Origin, but the quality is significantly lower than Poki Time. While I didn't love this place, I believe in second chances for some. Maybe they'll get the rice and kale right next time. I'll give them a few weeks before I venture in again.
