Where to try poke, a Hawaiian fish favorite, in Las Vegas | Eater Vegas

"Chef and owner Go Hoashi offers diners the option of building their own poke bowls or going with signature creations at this Chinatown poke restaurant. Customized poke bowls are available in three sizes and signature poke bowls are also available as burritos. Diners love the Spam burrito here, which combines the popular Hawaiian protein with pineapple, egg, surimi crab, and fried onion." - Krista Diamond

Have you ever heard of people who will only go to specific restaurants rather than try similar fare at other establishments? I have found that I am one of those people. In fact, I will go out of my way to patronize certain places because I've found their execution just works for my palette. Such is the case for Pokémon. I'm so smitten with their bowls, that I refuse to even consider getting a pokebowl any place else. In the spirit of full disclosure, I haven't been back to Hawaii to test my conviction, but I digress. What makes Pokémon so exception to me is their selections of produce and the combinations that are available to the customers. In addition to the combinations, the housemade sauces weave together the flavors that make the meal so special for me. Lastly, the are the toppings that include fried garlic and fried wonton that add a textual flare that adds variety to entertain your mouth and mind. The best news is that you get all of this at an affordable price and the meal is a healthier option than most of the choices that are available to us. Are the bowls orgasmic? Sadly no, but if you are having orgasms from eating, then you have a blessing or curse that is beyond my pay-grade! The decor is minimal and is nothing to write home about, but you are not likely to be coming here expecting an architectural marvel. If you are looking for a wonderfully customizable meal that is a symphony of tastes, flavors, and textures, Pokeman is a place to visit.

Very generous with the toppings, and great service. The matcha boba is a must-try. Best poke place in town! We’ve been here 4 times already in a week, Yukiko and Shiloh remember us each time we return and greet us with warm smiles (:

Google
TL;DR Delicious food, great customer interaction, and custom orders!! Saw that they have sushi/Poké burritos!! I HAD to try out a sushirrito!! My first interaction with the restaurant was very pleasant!! Seeing a regular walk in and be greeted with a smile and great service! My immediate take away was this place not only cares about their customers, but is a spot you return to over and over! Staff was super helpful and friendly and made awesome recommendations!! Including their new Curry menu which looked divine!! Can't wait to try it!! Food was fresh and delicious!! The prices were very reasonable and regulars kept coming in like clockwork!! Definitely come in and try their restaurant for yourself!!

Google
Pokeman is hands down my favorite poke spot! They know my name, my exact order, and even my quirky requests—like extra extra Yum Yum Sauce, Eel Sauce, and a whole lot of cucumber! 😄 The staff is absolutely amazing—always upbeat, friendly, and super helpful. I love being able to count on them to get my order right every single time, whether I call in or order through DoorDash. The salmon is always fresh, the flavors are on point, and the customer service is top-tier. It’s such a great feeling to be remembered and appreciated as a regular. If you haven’t been here yet, you’re missing out. Go check out Pokeman and tell them Allison sent you! Mmmm... I’m already craving it—ordering some now!

Google
Good flavor and good service, but it's way too expensive for the amount of food they give you on a.large bowl. Other poke spots don't give such small portions and are the same price. It's ok, but I'll go to my usual spot

Google
Sushi burrito $8-$13. Great as a road trip take out! One last sushi quickie on the way out with a sushi burrito. Our 1st sushi burrito, it was alot less rice than expected. Vegas is known to have amazing and more affordable sushi/Japanese cuisine. So yes, we were trying to load up on any sushi to go, not far from the freeway. Pokeman is located in similar plaza parking as Hala Guys. Staff was really nice. $11.95 Pokeman Spicy. Delicious!! Great combination of choices. Ripping apart the seaweed, and seaweed salad inside was a little different. If they offer soy paper, we may do that next time. No soy sauce needed since it was moist and had its own taste on it. $7.95 California Burrito. Because we were eating in the car, I asked if she could sprinkle some soy sauce into it. It'll make it easier to eat while driving, or just in the car. They also offer appetizers like California cut roll for $5.50 but with $2+ more, you'll get a burrito!! This burrito has more rice added into it, and only 2 scoops of imitation crab. Overall, the SO still like poke express Summerlin. But that's too far. And we were looking for something on the way out of Vegas. And It's a Izakaya didn't open untile 5pm, or else we would just order their salmon and Ikura bowl to go. It'll be difficult to eat but fixed the sushi salmon craving.

Google
I came in with friends and got a large bowl. You get 3 scoops of protein, and they have tofu (vegetarian) options. I got sushi rice as my base, tofu, yum yum sauce, and almost all of the veggies except jalapeños, and red onions. All of the flavors work, and the bowl is very filling. I would come back here again. The unexpected part was the variety of Japanese drinks. It's very refreshing.

Google
Pretty good sushi joint. They not only have sushi but they also have musubi, bubble tea, ice cream, and regular sushi rolls. Decent amount of seats to chill in. I would go during slow times as there is a staff shortage here. Other than that, i would recommend this place.

Yelp
Delicious! Definitely perfect when craving sushi but you don't want to eat AYCE. Their service was excellent, I didn't catch her name but she was super friendly and kind. Place is clean, there are some tables to dine on and a section with condiments like ginger, soy sauce. I like how they have mac salad and mangos as toppings too.. yum!

Yelp
This was my first time trying this poké spot and may I say, it did not disappoint! The lady in front was very helpful and knowledgeable about how to help me decide which option to pick. She even let me sample the items available. The food was spectacular. My only complaint is that it was so good, I debated on ordering another order! The place was nice and cozy, which made my friend and I feel at home. Would 1000% come back again!

Yelp
I love this place and have been coming here for quite a long time. I usually come here with my sister and the owner always remembers us and she is very kind. My favorite item is the #2 spicy poke bowl with extra spicy sauce, it's so good! The potato croquettes with Katsu sauce are also quite tasty as well. They do also keep their drink fridge stocked with a variety drinks as well from sodas, teas, coffee, and Hawaiian Sun fruit nectars. The vibes here are always pretty chill and they tend to play Japanese music which I do enjoy.

Yelp

Yelp
Best poke place in Vegas! Got a large bowl with all salmon and it tasted delicious, plenty of toppings to choose from. Prices are very fair and portion size decent. They don't charge extra for avocado. Manager is very friendly and helpful, I would drive extra to get poke from this place!

Yelp
Food always on point and the customer service is unmatched from the boss lady to the young ladies making the food y'all keep a good and healthy opinion we appreciate good food

Yelp
Appears to be Japanese-owned! Liked the variety of options available. Poke bowl, sushi burrito and more. Liked that scallops were not slathered with mayo but kept fresh in water, octopus available along with the usual fish protein options (and tofu). My family and I eat poke weekly in the LA area and were satisfied here with the freshness and combination of toppings. Cooked entrees available including curry/fried pork cutlet (tonkatsu)/sukiyaki and spam musubi, too. Got some boba on our way out. Nice people working there and glad to be able to have something fresh while visiting the area.

Yelp
Love this place! Came here for my birthday and everything was absolutely delicious. Thank you for making my birthday amazing! service was fast and quick.

Yelp
I was pretty much down to less than a handful of options around town for a poke craving. While the ratings and reviews seemed like a good try, unfortunately it was sub par to what we are accustomed to in California in terms of taste, ingredient options, service and price. Located in a smaller Chinatown strip mall, Pokemon is a small restaurant that offers an adequate choice for build your own or pre-selected poke bowls and poke burritos. Many ingredients that I am accustomed to getting included without an upcharge are extras here for up to $1.00 such as edamame, seaweed salad, masago, and avocado. This is surprising given it is located off the strip and in a not so inviting environment. So after the base price (small $9.95, medium $11.95, and large $12.95), it can get quite pricey for their underfilled bowls. Because we were near their 8 pm closing time, there were some ingredients unavailable, and the staff was unwilling to substitute unless for another no-extra charge ingredient. The service was underwhelming and uninviting. I'd take a pass on a return visit unless there was no other options around the next time around.

Yelp
Came around closing time weekend because we were in the area. Portions were generous! I was especially excited about having the option to add both tamago and macaroni salad without an extra fee. A couple of chairs and tables along the side of you want to enjoy in stores instead. Solid spot!

Yelp
I have been coming to this location for months, I am surprised that I haven't made a review yet. One thing I appreciate about this place is that the menu is fairly simple & not overwhelming. The fish always tastes fresh, they have different rice options, and their vegetables never seem spoilt. They occasionally switch up their dessert/ drink options which I appreciate because it makes me excited to see what is new. The staff is beyond lovely. They are always kind, and do an above & beyond job of providing excellent service. The staff seems to enjoy their job which makes me happy every-time I come in because I know I am supporting a business that treats their employees well. The staff never seem unhappy or stressed out, the employees are mindful of regulars which makes me feel appreciated & valued as a customer. The environment is always clean and well managed, it always smells clean. It never smells bad, the tables & chairs are always wiped down. They do okay music, however they play it at an appropriate level, the music isn't overwhelmingly loud. The only thing I wish is that they would fix their menu board screen as it has been broken for some time now. Thank you to the staff along with the owners for appreciating regular customers. I will continue to support this business until I ever decide to leave Vegas. My worst nightmare is that this place ever shuts down because that's how much I love this place.

Regina L.

Yelp
Place super clean, the manager is the most lovely person always good energy, helpful and fast. Food tastes amazing, best poke spot in Vegas. All the employees even new ones always welcome you nicely and are helpful. I'm a frequent client I love coming at least once a week for 2 years now.
google avatar

Yelp
The poke bowl was delicious. The staff was really kinda and knowledgeable about the menu. The dining area is cozy. Nice for a quick, delicious healthy meal.
google avatar

Lin F.

Yelp
Large bowl is 3 scoops of fish, choose half rice and half salad. You may get an additional cucumber and corn "free." Ginger and wasabi also free by soda machine. 3 tables inside to eat. I really enjoyed my bowl. Service - we were the only ones there. So it was fast. Ambiance is casual like flip flops and tank tops. The guava juice is in cans- I drank 2. No refills since they're cansz lots of front store parking.
google avatar

Khalil Q.

Yelp
Pretty underwhelming for a first time experience. The portion is 70% rice & 30% of the rest. The unagi comes in a huge chunk. Overall, not a great experience.
google avatar

Jocelyn C.

Yelp
Needed a quick lunch without the Chinatown lines, and this place did the trick. Now, few places can rival the legendary Poke Express, but Pokeman was a filling, delicious meal and a business I'd happily support again. Go with the bowl or the burrito. You may get more toppings in your bowl than a burrito. (Note: some cost extra.) in Feb 2023, one scoop of protein cost $10 before tax. Combined with all the other things to eat in the bowl, it's still reasonably priced in a way that I'd be happy to come back. Parking no issue, located next to Starbucks and Halal Guys.
google avatar

Robert D.

Yelp
I love coming here. The food is always fresh and very good. But the bigger reason is that the staff is always so nice and accommodating. Local and Family owned.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm not one to leave a bad review over pettiness, but I don't feel respected as a customer coming here. I had requested for the Hawaiian salmon poke, but the woman gave me tuna and I didn't realize until halfway eating it I was thinking that the salmon taste weird and then I look closer at it I realize it's tuna, so I came back up with like the few pieces that was left of the small portion they gave me and the boss told me that it's too late and there's not enough for them to replace It. I wasn't impressed by the quality of the fish or by the rice. The rice is really mushy kind of just felt like because either old or too much water was added. Also, the sauce isn't really mixed in like I'm used to for most traditional pokey places and it was a little over priced for $12 for two proteins and three toppings. The workers looked really tired so I don't blame them but at the same time, it was food I paid money for and I did not end up getting what I originally wanted. Granted, I maybe should've realize sooner but I was fresh off of work and I was rushing to class. I didn't really have my own time to realize nor did I want to make a problem. And as I was eating, I was reading reviews over how the place looked very dirty. I hadn't taken a closer look, but I realized the tables didn't look wiped down.
google avatar

Yelp
Was it good? Meh Did it do the job? Yes I pulled into this joint because I needed a quick poke fix, everything was decent- nothing spectacular but also was not ordinary. I would probably put in a little more effort to drive further if I crave poke again. Everything was room temperature, even the seaweed salad lol. I knew it was sus when everything was just chilling in the tubs. They do have add on charges for many item that are usually standard in Poke bowls. I still can't get over how everything was room temperature lol... at least I did not get sick. Service was rushed and meh even tho I was the only person there during lunch time. This place was decent. Would I come back? No. but don't let my review stop you from trying it out if it's convenient!
google avatar

Jaye A.

Yelp
Large seemed a bit small compared to your typical poke bowls. Fish was was fresh and most of the vegetables but I never felt the need for more base until I came here. Most of the sides are also an extra charge. Oh well, its good enough if you're here to satisfy your cravings

Zachary E.

Yelp
Went into Pokeman for a late night bite. The person that helped us was extremely friendly and welcoming. The portions were great and the quality of fish and topping was excellent. They have lots of other cool stuff for sale besides poke such as niche Japanese drinks, Mochi ice cream, bumble gum, tea, spam masubi and more. Place is in Chinatown very centrally located. Very clean inside as well. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Isabella G.

Yelp
i love this place so much! i come here very often because the food is delicious and the owner is the sweetest woman i've ever met. she always has a smile on her face and makes my experience so enjoyable. they have a lot of different options from poke bowls to burritos and now curry so u guys should definitely give it a try! this place never disappoints
google avatar

Yelp
Super fast and convenient! If you just want some seafood but don't want to spend too much, just grab a bowl or a burrito and go!
google avatar

Nick N.

Yelp
Looked for a quick place to eat in Vegas and this place caught my eye. Poke in Vegas was already a questionable decision but I went with it. It was alright. Probably wouldn't come back but service was great. The quality of the food was ok as well, but there aren't a ton of other quick spots around other than ones in hotels.
google avatar

Valerie J.

Yelp
Found this place thru yelp and was not disappointed. Walking in they only have a couple tables. Feels more of a take out place. First time here and staff were really friendly and gave me great recommendations. Usually I would make my own bowl but decided to try out #2 sushi burrito. At first it did seem like a small burrito but to my surprise it was very filling. So don't go in mind thinking you're going to get a chimichanga. Next time I will try to make my own bowl.

Yelp
This spot has been sitting on the to do list for a year! It's about time! I decided to stop on the way to meeting my friends for my birthday - making sure I had some food in before we had drinks at the pool. And coming here made me think it would be fairly healthy. Parking outside shared with other businesses. Pokeman is on the corner more in the back. Cute store with great color panel. Inside very friendly girl working. I picked the island crunch as a bowl. She prepared it while I watched it. I added edamame as an extra (+$0.50). She wrapped it up and I didn't eat there, I did in my car so It didn't heat up for when I'd continue my drive. The bowl was nice, total price for a medium was $8-ish and I think that's a great price. I ate about half and I was full. Flavors were good but mellow. I suggest a better more flavorful dressing for this "island brunch". But overall I was very happy with this and I'll definitely be back!!!

Yelp
Friendly staff great fresh food went with a friend who highly recommended it go ahead and try it near Chinatown. Place was clean and the food was fresh and tasty

Mackenzie G.

Yelp
Part of the reason we came to Vegas was to try Pokéman! And it did not disappoint!!! AMAZING!! PERFECT!!! Best service ever, she was so FRIENDLY!! 1000000/10 will come make the trip JUST for their Poké

Yelp
Usually we get the Large Poke Bowl and it's absolutely delicious ! We changed up for a Pokeman Burrito as we had to drive up and it's a lot easier to eat! Fish is always fresh. I'd say maybe if they can add a little more veggies it would be better since it looked like a little scrawny taco for the price I think they can afford to put some more veggies ‍

Jorge L.

Yelp
I haven't been here in a while, and is still the best poke in town. If you want something to take your sushi cravings away this would be the place! The new menu and machine are amazing!!! The owner is really sweet, will give you the best customer service
google avatar

Cory D.

Yelp
So, this was a surprise treat. I'm not a huge poke fan but my wife is and we came here as I like to play Pokémon Go lol. So, wasn't expecting much but it was amazingly good. I had tuna, crab, shrimp and spicy tuna. I also go crispy wontons and ginger and acacado added with the creamy sauce. The portions were great, I got to have half rice and half salad. The price was $11.95 for the large and was worth it. Fresh ingredients too, as we saw scales on the side she was cleaning up. Really happy to discover this, come enjoy.

Yelp
Off strip. Quick, friendly service. Cute but smaller space. Recommend the sushi burrito. It's a fun & tasty fusion dish.
google avatar

Ashley G.

Yelp
The staff wasn't trained. You bowl is filled up half way. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
google avatar

Klair A.

Yelp
It was very delicious. I was on my way to work and was looking for a Starbucks near by and found the one next to this place. I was hungry and had a little bit of time so I came in. I got the pokeman extra spicy, because spicy always hits the spot. It was very good and I will definitely be back. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars, is because when I unwrapped it, maybe only 20 minutes later, it was super soggy.

Jules F.

Yelp
THE BEST POKE IN TOWN!!! It is hard to find really good poke in Las Vegas, but Pokeman, is PHENOMENAL! Not only do they have the best poke but they have the best costumer service!!! I was Fortunate enough to meet the owner while eating there, she has the best vibe and extremely friendly. This will definitely be my new spot!! Also, they currently hiring for anyone who is looking for a job! The boss is someone you most definitely want to work for!

Yelp
I've been here a few times and this will be my last. The first few visits were good, the staffs were friendly and the poke bowl was flavorful. I usually order a medium/ regular spicy Canada bowl. I decided to get the large this time because of previous experience and this time was a big disappointment. First, the portion was the same size as the medium but it cost more. Following, the poke bowl overall had no taste or flavor to it as if someone forgot to add salt to it, except it was just a little fishy, and mushy, and it wasn't spicy (hence the name spicy Canada). Overall, I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND trying this place even if the location is convenient and I also have read others' reviews and some experienced poor customer service. The service was friendly (at least during my visits), portion sizes were skimpy, and the food quality was poor.

Dylan S.

Yelp
I was greeted with a smile. The food is really healthy. You can have a choice of white rice or brown rice. The fish and the veggies with the homemade sauces makes everything good. I love Pokeman. I love the staff. They are super courteous. I will be back again. This is for people who love sushi and a fast one. They are incredibly fast considering they are very short staffed, I have a lot of respect for that. Anytime you're craving some Poke, this is the place to go. Support small businesses!! Thank you Pokeman for staying open.

Yelp
Service was phenomenal. First time in and I was greeted with a smile. She helped me through the process of ordering and made great recommendations for my current diet. Will definitely be back again.

Yelp
Pokeman, not to be confused with the Japanese Anime, is an eatery that serves poke dishes. Located in the same plaza Halal Guys, right behind it actually, and Izakaya Go, with plenty of parking. My husband and I decided to grab an early lunch here last Sunday around 11:55 am. This place was empty but we were greeted by the employee behind the counter when we entered. After browsing the menu board, we ended up ordering: Large Poke, $11.95 prior to tax- The large poke bowl comes with 3 scoops of protein. My husband picked spicy tuna, yellow tail and octopus. He got brown rice and most of the toppings (toppings are free). His bowl was pretty filling with all of the added toppings. The protein choices my husband picked itself was just average. Please note that the poke choices are not Hawaiian style poke but just cuts of fish left plain and then sauce is added to it (I really don't like this type of poke and much prefer the Hawaiian style because it just tastes better). My husband was full from his bowl but thought it was average. Small Salad Bowl, $4.75 prior to tax- I decided to get a salad. If I wanted to add a scoop of protein, it would have only been a $1 extra. I got pretty much all of the free toppings except the jalapeno since I don't eat spicy foods. I got the miso dressing but asked for my salad to be lightly dressed. The employee helping with my order said I could always get a side extra if I need more. I thought the salad was pretty tasty with the corn, pickled vegetables, sliced cucumbers and all the other added toppings in it. I liked the spinach in the salad but was a little disappointed that some of the salad mix used was wilting a bit. I'm guessing that salad bowls aren't ordered too often here. Although the size looks small, it filled me up and I was actually rather full for hours after eating (fiber can do that to you). Milk Tea, $1.50 prior to tax- Please note that this is a special price with purchase of any bowl. Milk Tea, $1.50 prior to tax + $0.50 boba- Please note that this is a special price with any purchase of a bowl. I decided to add boba to my drink. The sweetness level cannot be adjusted since they are premade (but I was told by the employee that they can add more sugar to the drink if you want). I was actually surprised that the milk tea wasn't too sweet and was okay for me. I typically order my milk tea drinks to be made with 25-50% sweetener. It was a good size for the price. -------------------------------- (Total= $21.87 after tax) Wait time for our drinks was not long. The place was clean. There are a handful of tables inside and the ladies restroom was clean upon this visit. Overall, this was okay. I don't know if I would come back here though. But it did its job in feeding us and it was nice that it was a quiet meal and not too crowded.

Yelp
Refreshing and delicious! Our 1sr dinner in Vegas after driving a long way. The sauce is not very salty and fish are fresh, which I like. The only thing is the portion is on the smaller side. Good for a light dinner.

Anna B.

Yelp
Delicious, fresh food and kind, hardworking staff. My favorite poké place, I wish I could give more than 5 stars!!

Yelp
Great food, great people, great deal, a little hard to find and a little shady of an area but getting better.

Yelp
I love Pokemon!! This is a flavorful, healthy dining alternative. It is fairly priced and delicious. The service provided by Maria was above and beyond! They have labeled vegan and gluten free options. I highly recommend this place

J D.

Yelp
Poor and EXTREMELY SLOW customer service. I stopped by because I expected quick service (i had a flight to catch) because it is poke bowl, which is like fastfood. No cooking time. Just fill the bowl. Problem is they take realllly long time to fulfill the order. For example, there were 4 guests before me (in almost empty restaurant) and they literally took over 5 min per customer because they asked literally over 20 questions. They don't care about other customers waiting behind them, not offering anything like 'sorry for wait, we will be with you shortly ' etc. I don't want my business who don't care for customers and betrays fast service expectations. Nobody expect to wait 20min for a poke bowl. Simply unacceptable. If you arrive and see several customers before you, good luck. You will experience LONG waiting time for something you never expected for fast food.
google avatar

Jose C.

Yelp
The taste was good and the pokeman sauce has good flavor but the portion is smaller than expected. For the protein you get a small scoop like an 1/8 of a cup or a small ice cream scoop. Would be better if the compensated with more greens to make it seem more fuller. Over all not a bad place, just wished the servings here a little more for what you pay
