Google
My favorite Poke place, many fresh fish options as well as tofu for non-fish lovers. I recommend the Miso sauce.

Landon Kemp

Google
This place has been my go to for years but recently especially on online orders they’ve been giving you less than a scoop of protein in person and less rice. And a major thing that has changed is that they don’t mix the sauces in the plate anymore which changes the taste completely. Super disappointed by my last couple bowls because one side has the sriracha mayo and then the other sauce is on the other side not even together. Also they always forget the spicy base in online orders!! Please make eco friendly bowls too!

Google
The pokebowls here are pretty delicious. The service is good, and so is the atmosphere. I like the little tables and fountain nearby. I just wish the price was more justified for the small portions. Nonetheless, this spot is great to satisfy your poke bowl cravings.

Google
Was up in Del Mar and found this yummy Poke spot. Great selection of toppings and the black rice was delicious.

Google
I live nearby. There are a ton of restaurants in the neighborhood, but this is my and my thirteen year old son's favorite place to eat out of every option! It just tastes good, what can I say? Good options, consistently excellent service... The price is a bit high, but with the inflated restaurant prices these days, it's not much more than a meal at McDonald's and much healthier and tastier.

Amber Cook

Google
I love poke bowls and this place did not disappoint. The fish was fresh and tender, the rice was fluffy and well-cooked, and the toppings were generous and flavorful. The portion size was also satisfying and filling. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the service was fast and efficient. The restaurant was clean. I would definitely come back here again and recommend it to anyone who loves poke or wants to try something new and delicious.

Google
The best Poke Bowl ever!! I had three while I was in town on business. I flew back to North Dallas to find a Poke Bowl and I was so disappointed!! It was horrible but yet they had 4- stars!! Hopefully, I will get lucky to find a place that even comes close to Pokewan!!

Karlie

Google
I'm visiting from out of town and am almost devastated that I found such a good poke place since I'm not from here 😢 it is so good. Perfectly fresh, great portions that don't skimp on fish. The sweet onions are absolutely delicious. I'll be thinking about this place for a long time.

Yelp
I ordered a poke bowl in the "Happier" size, and got salmon and tuna as my proteins along with several toppings. They have seaweed salad as one of the free add-ons, which is really nice! The portion sizes are smaller than most of the poke restaurants I have been to in San Diego, but most of the ingredients were pretty fresh. They also have some unique ingredients that I normally don't see at other poke spots, like mango salsa, beets, and herb tofu. Service was kind of slow on the day I went, but there seemed to be a large volume of online orders and only one worker when I went. The interior is clean and there is plenty of seating as well. I would probably come back once in a while if I am in the area and this is a solid choice even if it is pretty pricey!

Yelp
I was skeptical about this place at first because it is a bit overpriced, but overall a solid place! It's hard to find really good poke in California that has a reasonable price these days. The bowl with 4 scoops is $16.95. I will say that the fish is fresher than poke 1/2. I didn't love the sauces that I got because I was expecting something spicy, but it tasted more sweet and tangy. The bowl is filled nicely and the fish itself is pretty good. I don't think the small bowl is worth it, so definitely size up to the bigger bowl! Service was quick and nice, not a long line on a Friday evening.

Yelp
I miss this place. Poke in Texas isn't cutting it. I love getting this and sitting on the beach. I miss you Pokewan with all of my heart

Yelp
Shared 1 Create Your Own Poke Bowl (Happier) with my wife for dinner; and we did not even finish the whole bowl. This place has one of the best Poke Bowl in town: 1. Good amount of protein 2. Can still taste the fish that we added (tuna, salmon and spicy tuna) which means that the toppings, the base and the crunch really complemented well with the fish 3. Fish texture for their spicy tuna (not mashed potato-like texture) 4. Best sauce combination: pokewan and garlic mustard Highly recommend trying this place.

Yelp
Perfect for a tight/rush lunch! I was on my way to the high school but starving and wanted something light and healthy! Poke bowls come in 2 sizes- regular "healthy" and large "healthier" but I would argue that the regular is healthier, lol! Regular comes with 2 scoops of protein- I chose salmon and spicy tuna. For my base layer I chose the cucumber noodles which I have not seen as an option for poke before but after this- they are my preferred! I opted for all the toppings except cucumber, since I had enough in the base, and no avocado (which is extra). I loved the crispy onion topping too. All of the servings were generous, so that I was afraid when she was done, she wouldn't be able to close the lid, haha! So just know that even though the bowl looks small, they pack a lot in there! all of the ingredients, including the salmon were very fresh, nicely chilled, and full of flavor. I went with the ponzu dressing which soaked into the cucumber base, making it so delicious! Highly recommend!

Yelp
I think I paid $14 for the small bowl (2 scoops of protein). I can totally appreciate that they pack the bowl to the brim. When you first enter the store, you will have to face the tough decision to go with the small (2 proteins) or large bowl (4 proteins). I think the bigger bowl is like $3 more. I am glad I went with the smaller bowl because I was pretty satisfied afterwards. All the ingredients tasted fresh. I only have one complaint, and it's bc Avocado costs extra, which SUCKS. so that's the only star off. Poke One N Half still reigns superior bc they offer Avocado for free but recently their prices have skyrocketed too. Service was friendly. They have a few tables inside and outside for those of us who enjoy dining in.

Yelp
Super pleased with Pokewan - The employees here make good bowls. Like a lot of OCD when putting the bowl together which makes for a really awesome presentation and eating experience. Love this place

Yelp
I like Pokewan. But my last two visits have been good not great. A new employee last time was very nice but very nervous, and he did not really fill the bowl end it seemed unseasoned even with asking for my normal sauces. And today, even though they now charge a dollar for a scoop of avocado, the avocado was not ripe and so it was not edible. The rest was good but also not very well seasoned. I wonder if they forgot my sauce?

Khue L.

Yelp
Literally TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I DoorDashed my order and it literally HAD NO SALMON (ANY PROTEIN) THAT I chose on the options. Whoever was working at pokewan on (12/14/24 at 5:00-6:00pm) is an actual IDIOT because how do you forget the CENTRAL part of the poke bowl which is the salmon???? I get that it's not really doordash's fault because the store makes it and then they pick it up, BUT the $4 store credit I got DID NOT resolve anything because what am I supposed to do with a protein-less pokebowl??? Actually ruined my entire dinner, how do you put every topping correctly but FORGET THE SALMON WHICH IS THE WHOLE POINT OF A POKEBOWL???? This store needs to hire smarter ppl.

Maggie H.

Yelp
Pokewan is our go to spot for poke bowls. The hotty hotty with black rice is our favorite thing on the menu. Whatever you order though you'll find fresh ingredients, lots of proteins to choose from, and generous portions. The place is always clean and the servers are efficient.
google avatar

Tricia A.

Yelp
I have no complaints about this business. They make my poke bowl just the way I like it every time. Prices are reasonable too. It's probably one of the better poke places you'll find in southern Cali!
google avatar

Anna T.

Yelp
In town for work and came across this Poke Bowl spot. The selection of poke, sides and toppings were plentiful and if you wanted more of a certain topping and sides, no problem. The rice was plain and when I eat Poke Bowl, I expect sushi rice and not plain rice. All of the ingredients were fresh. The service was pleasant. I would consider returning to this location.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite poke spots in SD! The price is good especially since the portions are filling, unlike many other chain poke stores. The toppings are also delicious and there is a diverse selection to choose from. This is a build-your-own type restaurant, and there are several tables inside so you can easily find seating to eat. We got the Happy (2 proteins) and Happier bowl (4 proteins), both with the brown rice base. I chose the salmon and ahi tuna, as well as various toppings, and my go-to sauce is the siracha mayo! I love how Pokewan allows you to choose many toppings, most of which do not have an additional charge. The bowl was so delicious and refreshing. This is my go-to poke place and I definitely come here regularly. I totally recommend siracha mayo if you have not tried already! The ingredients combined together are the perfect balance of flavors and textures. I enjoyed my poke bowl a lot and can't wait to come here again.

Peter K.

Yelp
Excellent value and quality of their poke bowls. Seafood is always fresh and toppings offer a great selection and their presentation is very clean and spotless.

Preston N.

Yelp
The poke was not the freshest but what was most upsetting was the serving size. The scoop they use is literally the size of a table spoon. The rice, cucumber, edamame and everything was good but the fish portions and quality were severely lacking. On top of this the customer service could have been better. If you want real poke in San Diego I would recommend "Hawaiian Fresh" or "It's Raw"
google avatar

Gina P.

Yelp
SO Delish! My only suggestion is that they should offer gift cards especially during the holidays.
google avatar

Natalya S.

Yelp
Pokewan is conveniently located in Del Mar Highlands, they got nice outdoor seating area. The food is fresh, service is quick, however the potions are tiny. There are 2 sizes, regular and large. They also change extra for toppings if you want more of something. Compare to other poke stores they are definitely on the pricier side and with smaller portions.

Yelp
Friday 2020/11/13 18:00 This is a nice poke place with generous portions and decent flavours. I ordered delivery through Postmates, a Happier Make it Your Own with 4 Scoops. The large takeout bowl was completely filled with food, so they definitely didn't skimp on portion. I only ate half and saved the other half for another meal. All the ingredients tasted fresh, and there were a lot of flavours put together in one bowl. One thing that I am a bit disappointed in is the black rice base. It doesn't really taste like anything and clumps into blocks of rice. It's fine as a compliment to all the other wonderful toppings and the poke. I ended up just not eating the leftover rice after I finished everything else.

Yelp
I was craving poke and this was nearby - then I realized I've passed by this place soo many times and never thought to try it! I got the happier bowl ($13.95) that comes w 4 scoops of fish. it definitely made me happier hehe. I liked that it comes with a free 1st scoop of imitation crab and avocado, and unlimited toppings! super tasty and they have a few sauces to pick from (I like spicy mayo so I just got that). oh and they have some interesting options you can pick that I haven't seen at other poke places, like cucumber noodles as a base, or carrots as a topping. also I was worried it'd be a small portion but they filled up the bowl. I'd still prefer poki one n a half for a similar bowl (costs a lil more but also has more inside) but I would definitely come here again too! parking: in a big plaza, plenty of spots w no time limit seating: several seats inside, plenty of outdoor seating too
google avatar

Diana A.

Yelp
I used to come here religiously when they first opened. Wasn't a fan of sweetfin across the street so I came back to pokewan. Two things have changed- 1- they charge you extra now if you want a small bowl but put inside the larger bowl. Super lame as the price of a large plastic bowl isn't that much more for a small. I like the extra room in the bowl because I always get take out and if I get the small inside a small bowl the lid smashes all my food leaving me no room to move the items around without spilling! Hence why I ask for the larger bowl. 2- Service was horrendous. These people are like robots. It was like talking to a wall-no smiles no personality nada!!
google avatar

Joelle L.

Yelp
The fish was a little bit smelly. I wasn't very happy with the portion sizes. It was not worth the price.
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
Sigh. I'm so torn because this is my favorite poke place but they need to staff more workers during the dinner rush. There were only 2 employees making bowls tonight and it was frustrating to see them completely ignore a line of 8+ walk ups because they were too busy fulfilling online orders. When it was finally my turn after waiting 30+ minutes in line the employee completely abandoned making my bowl to check someone out that had just walked in and ordered online.. no wonder the line was so slow. Priorities! On top of that, the bowl I received was SO sloppy and rushed. Pretty sure I received one less scoop of protein as well because the employee was in such a hurry. No fault to them, they were clearly doing their best but it was obvious they were sorely understaffed and it unfortunately led to a pretty poor customer experience overall.
google avatar

Nikhil U.

Yelp
Excellent poke restaurant! The options for bases are amazing - i mean cucumber noodles? And the topings are a far larger selections than most poke shops and theyre all delicious - especially love the mango salsa!

Paul C.

Yelp
Good quality if you like Poke Bowls. Staff, super kind and generous in portions. You can custom build your bowl, lots of condiments included, no extra charge!
google avatar

kara S.

Yelp
The food and service was great. Enjoyed the food, however I do wish there were a few more options on the protein. Definitely recommend this spot.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place because the pics looked really good....my bowl looked meh. Probs depend on the employee you get :/ But I was really surprised by the size of their bowls here. Pokewan had two options. A 2 scoop bowl and a 4 scoop bowl. The 2 scoop bowl could maybe (emphasis on maybe) feed a 10 yr old. The 4 scoop bowl was still smaller than a small at other poke shops. Comparing it to my recent visit to Poki One N Half, the size of Pokewon's 4 scoop bowl is probably about 1/3 smaller than Poki One N Half's small bowl. Pokewon do have some unique items that I don't see often at other poke shops -quinoa -cucumber noodles (but this takes up space in their already small bowl) -spicy sesame salmon (I didn't like this since it just tasted salty to me) -radish -mango habanero (I really liked the mango with my poke. Not spicy) -imitation crab (I liked their crab better than Poki One N Half. I think Pokewon's is different from regular imitation crab since it was more orange than regular ones) For the sauce, I got the Pokewan sauce because it was the most popular.... I couldn't taste anything, so I went back and asked for more sauce on the side. For the quality of fish, I'm no expert but it wasn't too different from other poke shops for me. Overall, I think Pokewan has some unique options but I was not impressed by their sauce. And with their price/portion, this really isn't a palce I'd recommend my friends for poke.

Yelp
Pokewan is a poke bowl shop situated in a big plaza in Del Mar Highlands where One Paseo relatively is. Unfortunately this was probably the worst poke experiences I've had considering the service, quantity, and quality. The employees weren't the friendliest and didn't have much patience. I had to ask questions about the food and some options but the way their tone and glare wasn't welcoming. Honestly, they could be having an off day, so I'm not too stuck up about it. However, the food says otherwise. The poke bowls here are a big rip off. $13 for an extremely small bowl. There are so many other places in San Diego with much better quantity than this place. You'd expect that if its a smaller bowl and at this price point that you'll get better quality right? Sadly, coming from a person who eats poke regularly and buys fish from fish markets, I'd say this is the worst quality-wise. Places such as HFS, It's Raw, Poke One n Half, and more are much better. (I forgot to take a picture for this review to put the bowl to scale.) I won't be coming back to this place unless there's something done about the food quantity and quality.
google avatar

Britania P.

Yelp
The quality was pretty good but the delivery needs work. The black rice was well cooked and I loved that they offered a quinoa kale salad as a base also. They also had cucumber noodles as a base option which I'd never seen before and is a unique offering. However there wasn't nearly enough base for all the toppings and sauce so I would get a side of rice next time (which at 2.50 seems pretty overpriced for rice but whatever). The fish was fresh but it was hard to taste in all the excess sauce it was swimming in. The staff person poured on a huge glob of sauce before I ask them to take it easy. They had a good array of toppings including lots of fresh, crisp veggies. The crispy onions tasted freshly made also.
google avatar

Karen R.

Yelp
Price is very high for such a small bowl ( even a large size). Walking in the store it's a very cute esthetic, but not the friendliest employees. Ordered 2 L bowls / 1 drink and the total was about 40 dollars. The fish is fresh, but I find it was not cold or cool. The fish tasted luke warm. Also, the rice was very very warm so the sushi on the bottom was cooked by the time I got to the bottom of the bowl so that was extra unappealing. We will not be returning.

Kelly W.

Yelp
i've been coming here for years and it's always been so amazing! i usually split a happier bowl with my partner and it's more than enough -- they are very generous with the portions! everything tastes so fresh and delicious!
google avatar

Kristine T.

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick lunch on Friday. SERVICE - It was a build your own bowl type of place. The person who helped us was very nice. FOOD - We got the Pokewan bowl as is. The fish was very fresh. The bowl was packed with flavor and textures. They really stuff your bowl too so that was nice. We do not eat poke often but this was a solid place!
google avatar

Wes K.

Yelp
I try to come here for lunch or dinner whenever I get a haircut in the local area. I absolutely love this place! The employees, and the owners (haven't met them but I think I could guess who it was) are absolutely fantastic people. This food is so fresh and great. You don't even know how happy I get when I get in my car and head home with food from there. They always pack my bowl so much, I always feel like I'm getting more then other places. There resultant is so clean and ingredients always look fresh as well as the kitchen. Please keep up the good work, everything is beyond excellent and words can't even explain how pleased I am to come here. Like I really do appreciate it.
google avatar

Brett P.

Yelp
Really good bowl. I had the protein bowl and it was delicious, one of the best I have had outside of Hawaii. Reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is the price was high the bowl was 16$ that was including $1for extra sauce, also they charge an extra 2$ for 1 small scoop of extra protein and the fact they are wrapping each napkin in a individual plastic bag. 1 napkin per plastic bag give me a break!! I usually would never bitch about something like this and I understand the establishment is doing what it has to do to stay open during covid but come on put like 3 to 5 napkins in each plastic bag so i don't have 5 plastic bags for 5 napkins. I took my bowl down to the beach and was pissed thinking about all the pointless plastic used for a poke bowl!! Sorry for the rant the Bowl was damn good and I'll be back again to try the spicy bowl!
google avatar

Jamie G.

Yelp
Updating this review (should have a while ago). At some point in the last few years it feels like management has changed and the amazing customer service I received when they first opened is no longer. No one who works there seems happy to be there. I also used to love going here on my birthday to get a free happy bowl ( I did this for several years). This was the first year where I was told they no longer do it and was disappointed. I also find it ridiculous that they won't put anything on the side - sauces, wasabi or ginger. Pros they don't charge extra for cucumber noodles... yet.
google avatar

Lauren L.

Yelp
I was in the area for work and stopped by to grab a quick lunch. The poke was just okay, with the sauce options being more on the salty, than flavorful side. If in a pinch and looking for an easy lunch, I would eat there again. However, the customer service is lacking. I waited ~5 minutes at the counter without being addressed by the employee working there. I understood that they were preparing other orders, but at some point it would have been nice for them to say "hey" or "I'll be right with you" so that I felt more welcome. Ambiance could be nicer and I chose to sit outside because the inside felt a little dirty to me.
google avatar

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
Pokewan is pretty good! The fish and toppings all taste fresh and blend well. I got the two scoop bowl with tuna and salmon and topped it with seaweed salad (great by the way), mango salsa (mangos were hard sadly), crab, edamame, cucumber noodles, and spicy sauce. My reason it's not five stars is because the two scoop is simply too small it needs to be a bit bigger or a bit cheaper because I definitely was left wanting more in my stomach or more in my wallet!
google avatar

Nick N.

Yelp
Pokewan has a great selection and the items we ordered were great. I ordered the protein bowl with black rice, very filling for a poke bowl but the good kind of feeling. My friend ordered the spicy bowl and it wasn't too spicy but was very delicious as well!
google avatar

Saleen D.

Yelp
Located in the Del Mar Highlands Town Center. They serve Signature bowls or you can create your own. Of course, I created my own! Base then Mix Ins then Protein (tuna, spicy tuna, salmon, albacore, scallops, shrimp, herb tofu, spicy sesame salmon), then Base Sauce, then Signature Sauce then Toppings then Crunch. Then bam, you get a bowl filled with loads of goodies. The salmon was fresh. I tried several of their sauces & they were flavorful. I just wished they were more generous on the protein.
google avatar

Sherry E.

Yelp
Pokewan has the best and fresh ingredients and options. Quality in the fish, especially the salmon, is top notch! I hope more Pokewans open up everywhere!
google avatar

Bladen F.

Yelp
I went after a hard work out for a health snack and was treated like dirt I'm not sure if it was because my hair was a mess or because I was tired looking but I was treated with so much disrespect from the server I had. The two associates that were on duty at the time were Emily and Scarlet is the second ones I believe it might have been starlet!?
google avatar

Lisa W.

Yelp
4 scoops for $10.75. Pretty comparable pricing to the abundance of other poke places in SD. I've been to most other poke and noticed this about Pokewan: No octopus No yellow tail Seaweed salad a little too runny (made rice green and wet) Scallops drenched in mayo Albacore and tuna wasn't the freshest, had a bad fishy after taste Spicy wasn't at all spicy, not even a bit What I did like about Pokewan: Big whole mini shrimp Other options like quinoa and cucumber noodles More garnish options like radish, mango salsa Clean, energetic friendly staff Overall, not one of my favorite poke places but since it's so close to work it'll have to do. It was okay, I'll drive down to Kearney Mesa area to get better ones.
google avatar

Jessie Q.

Yelp
They are horrible and charges extra for everything put in the side without telling you ahead of time. I was charged extra $2 for ginger and Mango to be on the side! (I received 4 pieces of ginger and 4 small tiny mango pieces total...) They have the smallest scoop of fish I've ever seen in any poke places ever, and the bowl size is depressing. There was no napkins given to either! Furthermore, the vegetables that are topping were not fresh as the broccoli is bitter, and the shredded cabbages were dry... The only redeeming quality is that the fish is fresh but you get 4 pieces per scoop so hopefully you have a small appetite and a huge bank account! I have never felt so annoyed for tipping before... For $18, I feel ripped off and this was just depressing... I love poke and eat quite a lot of it, but I'm definitely never coming to this store again!
google avatar

Jen H.

Yelp
We came here spontaneously since we were in the plaza and looking for a quick dinner option. The poke bowl was OK. I should've gone with a salad or rice base, but I upgraded to a seaweed base and it make my entire poke bowl super salty. Hmm, would I come back? There are better ones in SD, so probably not.
google avatar

Fong L.

Yelp
The food is good not great but what a small portion for the value. The bowl is extra small. It is located in a nice area right near One Paseo, probably main reason why prices are a bit high. I came in late afternoon during the week so there was no crowd. I wasn't wowed but I do appreciate the good service and clean establishment. I only wish portions were bigger.
google avatar

Annie B.

Yelp
was greeted with friendly staff! i decided to get the happier bowl and share with my brother because the bowl is actually big including 4 scoops of meat, toppings, and rice, very worth the price!! the spicy tuna and tuna is really good :) tastes fresh!! I like how they have a variety of toppings, sauces, and seasoning because not all people like the basics. will definitely come back here again :)
google avatar

Nicole F.

Yelp
We walked here from my brother's new condo so we didn't have to deal with parking. This shopping center can get crowded and there are a plethora of enticing dining establishments. Fortunately we chose Pokewan and even though I had no idea how this worked they offer a menu of choices where you don't have to make a decision. I chose the protein power and was not disappointed. It's basically deconstructed sushi but much more flavorful. After I ordered I saw that there was corn and asked to substitute it for watermelon radish, which they happily did. This bowl was huge and I couldn't finish the entire meal so the price was right for fresh salmon, tuna and crab. Service is super and there are plenty of tables inside and a few outside as well. I will definitely be returning.
google avatar

Brian T.

Yelp
Terrific bowls of high quality seafood. I haven't had a single odd tasting scallop or stringy piece of fish in my poke bowl here! Definitely the best by quality. 90% of the reviews that aren't 4-5 star are because of price. This place is pure quality. You get what you pay for and this place delivers every time. Never had a bad GI experience or old tasting fish here unlike many other poke places. Finally found my SD poke spot!

Yelp
Came here to get a Sunday lunch after grocery shopping. Had a coupon for a free Dole whip with an order so I got that too. It was a huge serving of Dole whip. By the time I finished it, I was too full to eat the poke bowl so I saved that for dinner. The poke bowl comes in 2 sizes, small and large. I got the large with 4 different types of toppings. It was delicious and lasted for 2 meals. Good customer service and good quality.

Borzu K.

Yelp
Great quality, but portions are way to small and the price is way to high. Very clean place, clerk mixed up our order as well. Still hungry, the 2 protein deal is like an appetizer.
