This was random stop after a workout and it became probably one of my top 5 places to get Poke in Austin.
To start off, this place is INSANE value. I paid roughly around $13 for a MOUNTAIN of poke & toppings. This was also the first poke place where the employee asked me if the base or topping was enough and if I wanted more which completely threw me by surprise (and this was free of charge too)!
I got the build your own bowl with half & half, salad and brown ice with one scoop of spicy tuna and regular salmon. I had everything mixed together with the Umami Shoyu and their version of Spicy Mayo.
Things that I liked:
1) Fish was super fresh. I like how the spicy tuna was diced and mixed with sauce and not the squishy kind that you normally find at other places.
2) They ask how much sauce you want (light, medium, heavy) which may seem like such a simple ask but this is the first poke shop that I've been to that truly customizes to this detail!!
3) Very interesting toppings, large variety. They had the classic toppings like seaweed salad, crab meat, masago that you would find in most poke places BUT they also have tamago egg, mandarin orange, and mini tofu slices as toppings too! I thought that they were pretty nice additions and enjoyed them a lot.
The interior of this location is very nice! Super open, lots of sunlight, very modern and it's a great spot for brunch with friends.
The only reason why it is not a 5 star mainly has to do with minor app & price discrepancy. Currently, they're running a promo where you can get $5 off your purchase if you download their rewards app. My friends and I went through the whole process but we couldn't find the code even after verifying & filling out all of our info. We asked the employee and they said that sometimes it won't pop up until the 2nd purchase or sometimes the first purchase depending on your luck. At this point, we had already spent like 10+ minutes trying to order through the app and figure out the code and just decided to order in person. Then midway through the line, we got our coupon but we couldn't use it since you had to order online. Biggest feedback would be to just be more clear about the registration & coupon process, based on the employee's response, it seems that it has been a recurring problem.
There's also a minor price difference, if you order masago on the app, it'll give you an additional charge but not if you order in person.
Tip for the $5: Download it at home & give it like a 10-15 minute for your coupon code to pop up!
I'll definitely come back to this place and try out their torched poke option!!
