Stopped for dinner before a concert. Service was top notch, food was superb and drinks were delicious. They start off with 3 salsas and tostadas. The Matcha salsa was better than what I had in Oaxaca. Highly recommend the rib eye chicharron served with 6 mini handmade corn tortillas. Also ordered the hot street corn. It was a bit over dressed with chipotle ranch but delicious non the less. Appetizer portions are large enough to share or make a meal out of if you order more than one. For entree, we ordered the iberrico pork steak, which was phenomenal, although a bit dicey even at medium well. Just order it well done to be safe. For drinks, El Diablito and El Bryan were fantastic. Not a fan of Margarito Polanco and sent it back. Much to sour for my taste. Finished the meal with Mango Sorbet for dessert. They bring 4 cones of this so perfect to order for a group. We will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.

Came on a Friday night around 6pm - no wait to be seated. It was perfect. Customer service: super friendly. We were checked-in on a few times. Staff made us feel welcome & cared for. Drinks: good! Strong. Ordered the Diablito and TikiTok. Both has good citrus flavor. Diablito had a bit of a spice. Food: Tostadas and salsas are brought out as chips and salsa. It’s a cute presentation. Salsa had good flavor. Rib eye chicharrón - it’s an appetizer but ordered it as my entree. The tortillas it came with were so good. Tasted fresh. I don’t think they were home made but it had that taste. Would recommend. The guacamole it came with did not seem authentic. It was lemony and blended. Rib eye steak - flavorful, cooked perfectly as requested. Had good char like carne asada. Cabbage was great.

Google
Unique location, out of this world food. You have to order the rib-eye chicharron to start but save room for the main course because no matter what you get it’s all going to be delicious. Had an amazing surf n turf but I hear the Iberico steak is to die for. The location, a uniquely shaped building, Is pretty cool too.

New restaurant in our neighborhood had to try it! We sat out in the terrace it was lovely! Our server Natalia was awesome! And the food was amazing! Had the guacamole, the queso fundido and chicharrones as our starters then the pescado, rib eye, fillet mignon and New York steak as the main entrees, the portions are very generous, we also had the potato purée and Brussels sprouts as extra side orders. The drinks were on the light side though. I’ll definitely be back!

Google
Food was excellent. We had the rib eye and lobster enchiladas. Both were very tasty. The cabbage they served with the steak was the best I've ever had. Grilled with garlic butter. The Brussel spouts were the same best I've ever had. Topped with cotija cheese. Drinks were tasty and all of the staff that we encountered were extremely helpful. Great atmosphere got a little scared because the place was empty but seems this might be a more popular late night dining spot. Definitely will come back.

I have not had food this good in so long! We ordered the corn, chicharrón, steak, and chicken along with some DELICIOUS cocktails! everything tasted so clean and authentic and the restaurant is absolutely beautiful, warm, and cozy! We came on NYE and the staff was so kind and attentive. i will definitely be back in the near future!🎊

Google
Fun ambiance featuring great service, delicious food, at a comparatively fair price. If you’ve never had Iberico steak, do yourself a favor and be adventurous. The flavor is a bit richer than beef but can still be cooked to medium or medium rare texture despite being pork based. The homemade salsas and beans have a smokey chipotle flavor which compliments the entrees well.

We came on NYE 2022, in hopes of a great meal to bring in the new year, and this place delivered. Ivàn and his staff where very welcoming and made us feel at home with their hospitality. We order the ceviche, ribeye chicharron, and street corn. The chicharrón was amazing. We also had a few cocktails, all delicious and refreshing. We finished off with a ribeye steak and chicken, both which were flavorful and seared to perfection. Vendremos mil vezes en el futuro!

Yelp
A Tuesday date night with my boyfriend and he surprised me with reservations here. It was very empty but that meant we got a lot of personalized attention from the staff. Our server was incredibly friendly and helpful recommending some unique dishes we might not have tried otherwise. The one thing we chose that he didn't recommend was the one we liked the least so next time, we should only get what he suggests. They started us with a basket of tortilla chips and a trio of dips - blended beans, a creamy tomatillo salsa that looked like guacamole, and smoky chili oil. Our server also brought us a taster of the habanero salsa that was brightly fruity and delicious, but be careful! The elotes were not as flavorful as I wanted them to be - I know corn is not in season locally, but it almost tasted like they had forgotten the salt when it was cooking. And the serving came with four pieces - definitely more than I needed of that. It made me wish I had gone with our server's suggestion to get the app trio so we would have only had two pieces and would have gotten to try the guacamole and ceviche too. We got another starter that was tiny bite-sized nuggets of fried beef served with tortillas and some pickled onions. It was great - especially building little tacos with the different salsas! The mar y tierra plate was excellent. Our server described it as similar to a paella but it was more like a risotto - creamy rice under a mix of scallops, chicken, steak, and shrimp. Everything was delicious. I'll definitely be back because I still want to try the mole, chile relleno, and at least one of their enchiladas.

Yelp
Stopped by for an early dinner and loved the vibe and friendly customer service. We arrived shortly after the dinner opening time on a Sunday, and we were greeted and seated promptly. The place was not busy at this time, so we received undivided attention from our server and had a nice relaxed dinner. The decor is simple and clean, there are plenty of windows for light. Even though this is located in the center of the busy intersection, you don't notice the cars passing by. There's even a small patio at the tip of the intersection, pet friendly, as well as what seems like another patio rooftop. The whole feeling inside was like a very relaxed one, like a little European corner coffee shop. For food, we ordered the chicharon as an appetizer. This was delicious! A mix drink with guava and a sugar rim was pretty good, and we had to order another. The main dishes were fish with rice and the steak with shrimp, chicken, scallops, and basmati rice. Both were tasty. The fish was perfectly seasoned and cooked, and the rice was creamy, which was a nice balance. The steak with shrimp, etc, was not my favorite dish. These were cut into small bite-sized pieces, which made it a bit dry. Will definitely be adding this to my favorites list. It seems like they don't yet have a steady menu. They're using the menu covers from the parent restaurant. I am curious to return and see what changes in the menu. P.s. our server mentioned that the Saturdays get busy, so much that they didn't have a few menu and drink items that we were curious to try. I will definitely return to check out the vibe on that day too.

Yelp
Found this place on Resy! Thought it was a new restaurant because it only had 2 reviews but our waiter explained that it use to be called POLANCO, however they recently revamped to distinguish themselves from their Hawthorne location. This also included an overhaul of the menu, leaving in a couple classics from the steakhouse such as the tomahawk and filet. The location is in downtown so just be prepared for that. Although valet is not offered, there is street parking and a few paid parking lots well within walking distance. We paid $12 to park at a lot that was very close by. The inside is cute, intimate, and well decorated. The name Polanco is actually the name of the most expensive neighborhood in Mexico City, you can tell the restaurant drew on that inspiration for the interior. The food was delicious! Here's a breakdown: -Drinks: We ordered 2 drinks (El Brayan and Polanquito). El Brayan is a Whiskey Bourbon based cocktail while the Polanquito is a Jalapeño infused Tequila based cocktail. Both were amazing and reasonably priced 10/10. -Apps: We ordered the Ceviche, 10/10. It was fresh, a good mix and flavor. We also ordered the Fried Pork Belly, 8/10. It was good, came with small tortillas, just was a little too much garnish and not enough pork IMO. -Entree: We ordered the Ribeye Tacos. They were very well portioned, the meat was cooked perfectly, our waiter also let us know that they were wagyu beef. They also came served with white rice and refried beans. Overall, they were delicious, 10/10. We also ordered the Mar y Tierra, I was a little thrown off because I expected a cut of protein with a cut of seafood. It came served like a paella; yellow rice base topped with the chopped. It was really good, the seafood was not overcooked and the protein paired well with the flavor of the rice, 10/10. We are already planning to come back and try other items on their menu! Will definitely be back.

Yelp
If it's out of business, update the status on Yelp and Google. You wasted my Sunday family brunch plans when we arrived to locked doors. I see a few others have had this experience too. No class. Not professional.

Martha I.

Yelp
Food was amazing!!! . Customer services was great by our waiter. However was beyond annoyed at how the 2 young "girl" hostesses thought it was right to ask my husband a bunch of questions and have a conversation with him while I went to the bathroom but as soon as I returned they stayed quiet and never once tried to make a conversation with me. Found that disrespectful. Seams to be the pattern with these young girls - feeling comfortable with the men. Won't be coming back tho. Maybe management should talk to them about treating ALL their customers men and women the same.

John W.

Yelp
Are here for the first time tonight. No tables free so we ate at the bar. They brought out chips and 3 different salsas, all of which were excellent. My date had the carne asada plate and I got the surf and turf... lobster enchilada and wagyu sirloin. Both were fantastic. Right around the corner from the Orpheum theater.

Yelp
I went with my parents to try the new menu i absolutely love it , I order the waygu tacos they we're absolutely delicious, service was great and cocktails are very unique . They are dog friendly cause my mom has a service dog . Ambiance is ok is not to laud so you can have a good conversation. Overall it was great one of the best spot in Downtown la.

Yelp
Had a confirmed reservation via Open Table yesterday Sunday at 7:30 PM. Arrived, doors locked, lights out, no phone answer. Possibly went out of business?

monica h.

Yelp
Showed up to our "confirmed" reservation on Saturday evening, no signs of life. Lights out, doors locked, and no one answered the phone. No clue what's going on there.

Jennifer C.

Yelp
We visited here for our first time last weekend. Pretty slow for a Saturday night, which was odd. Service was great. However, the food was not. Ceviche was very fishy ( either low quailty fish or had been sitting in the fridge for a couple of days), chicken tinga enchiladas didn't have much flavor, and the meat from the rib eye tacos was very chewy. I will not be coming back here. I also noticed that most of the reviews down below are fake ! Notice there are many reviews with the same profile picture, yet with different profile names. VERY unprofessional. What a shame

Yvette R.

Yelp
Amazing staff , love the ambiance and drinks. The food was average , I had the enchiladas divorciadas they were good but the beans and rice needed a lot of help .

Jason L.

Yelp
Joining the chorus of people who showed up with a reservation only to find the restaurant fully closed. DO NOT BOOK.

Karla S.

Yelp
Great food, affortable cocktail prices, beautiful spot in the heart of downtown LA. Two story building upstairs for a night out with a love one and downstairs a casual feel to stop for drink and some appetizers.

Karen M.

Yelp
Immediately, Luis and Adrianna greeted me with me with a smile. They went above and beyond, attending to my many requests. Thank you for the patience and wonderful experience. The holiday ambiance was perfect.

David L.

Yelp
I had visited the restaurant when they were previously known at Polanco and my experience then was subpar. I decided to give their new concept, Polanquito, a try and was pleasantly surprised. The service was top notch, the food was very good as were the cocktails. I'll definitely be back, especially curious to try their happy hour.

Mario S.

Yelp
Heart of DTLA and beers and margaritas are cold. Ceviche was a little bit off but chips, salsa and appetizers good. A good place to relax, have a conversation. Cheers!

Preston N.

Yelp
Great food and very attentive staff! Drinks were scratch made and no mixes from what I can taste, they were on point! Everything had so much flavor you could just tell it was all made with time and persistence, with effort. Overall it was a fun time and we will be back for more of this steak we eat out a lot and this was amazingly good. Try it you'll be impressed

Alexander G.

Yelp
Excellent food and drinks. The ribeye chicharron is one of the best. Their birria is also a must try if your a fan. Don't sleep on this spot...

Bernard E.

Yelp
Great spot been coming here for years food has never been disappointing. Friendly staff and great family spot I love the wet chicken burritos and chicken nachos

Jorge M.

Yelp
Drinks are insane. The food is real good. It's a romantic date spot in my eyes. The service is dead on. Angel my waiter was so helpful and outgoing made the experience pretty fun. I was open to any drink and everything he recommended was delicious. He read the notes that were on the reservation, and made the night seamless. Angel hope you read this, I'll see you soon appreciate the hospitality.

Edward H.

Yelp
Drink, appetizers, and dishes were all so good. We had a party of 7 and ate outside in their patio. The mezcal Paloma, their ceviche, and their chicharrón was delicious. Can't wait to go back.

Vic V.

Yelp
Amazing food, loved the service and also great ambiance, the ambiance was great with latino music all the way! Great drinks and loved loved the service!! Will b back when we come visit from seattle! Cheers

Nicole A.

Yelp
We have dined here several times. We've visited Polanquito for casual outings as well as several celebrations such as birthdays, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, etc., and have never been disappointed. This time we celebrated my birthday at Polanco earlier this week and we had a great experience. The food and service were amazing. For my birthday we were a party of nine and we tried so many delicious dishes and drinks. We had the guacamole, ceviche, Spanish octopus, and queso fundido for our appetizers. For our entrees we tried the burger, chicken enchiladas, scallops, tomahawk, and wagyu top sirloin. We finished the night with two flans to celebrate my birthday. It was a great evening with great people, filled with great food and drinks. I cannot wait to come back.

Cassie K.

Yelp
Showed up for a reservation. The restaurant was locked. Maybe don't allow reservations if you're not open for business was. Will never go here because if the bad management.

Tina K.

Yelp
The service was top tier. I've ordered a Mexican wine, they were out and the server brought two different wines similar and allowed me to try both, just beyond and above. I had ordered the pork belly appetizer and it was absolutely delicious, just needed a hint a lime to bring it all together. Then I ordered the Mar y terria and it was absolutely fantastic. It had scallops, shrimp, chrizo, steak and chicken on a bed of saffron rice with a Chipotle cream sauce underneath. Just excellent. I am very impressed and I look forward in coming again to enjoy many meals.

Judith V.

Yelp
LOVED! Would 100% come again. Came for my father's birthday and the service was incredible! We had the enchiladas, the filet mignon, and a few other plates. Started off with the chicharrón appetizer and even the chips and dips were nothing short of delicious. INCREDIBLE. The drinks weren't too heavy, they were just right, I recommend the Tiki drink. So good! But the service made this place stand out 100%. Not only did our server make the best recommendations, but he also made our night.

Abby R.

Yelp
My friends and I came to dinner at Polanquito in December. It has been one of the most pleasant dining experiences in LA that we all have had in a long time. The entire team was incredibly kind, warm and hospitable. We chose a few of their recommendations, like the appetizer trio (I think) with esquite and ceviche, which were all delicious. The drinks were also delicious and our server was great in providing suggestions based on all of our preferences. Dinner was great and I appreciated the classic dishes. Would recommend dinner in this beautiful place before going dancing in the city!

Ray L.

Yelp
This review comes with a warning ! The ribeye chicharron is extremely addicting ! I live in the neighborhood and can't stop coming back for more. The tacos and enchiladas are also really good. One thing Polanquito really gets is how to make some fire salsas to complement their food. Ask for their habañero salsa if you like something a bit spicier. It's not on the menu but the chef always keeps that thing on him. I was lucky enough to try some of their different cuts of steaks before they rebranded. Though they removed a lot of their steaks from the menu, They still have the tomahawk and filet mignon on deck. Big fan of the historic building that this restaurant is located in as I'm a sucker for historic LA vibes. That one bald server and the nice gentleman with the ponytail and glasses always provide top notch service and they already know if they see me pull up, they better get the ribeye chicharron going.

Cory M.

Yelp
Amazing service and food! The staff is so friendly, made us feel like family! We experienced a very minor issue with our order, but the staff went above and beyond to make up for it. The staff at Polanquito are a master class in what it means to provide excellent service. The food and drinks were simply outstanding too. Can't wait to come back!

Helen K.

Yelp
The Food is amazing! Cocktails phenomenal!!! If you go and Ivan is your server, he will give you and authentic Mexican experience! He recommended amazing tequila with worms/chili shots! We got a few dishes to try a few dishes and it was delicious!! Ask for the salsa and it will give you an authentic experience. You will not regret it! AMAZING experience!

Marcelo C.

Yelp
It sucks to say that this was my worst restaurant experience. I came in with my family right when it opened. A lot of things in the menu were already gone. We ordered a drink which had a bug on the end of the glass. BUT THE WORST THING OF IT ALL WAS GETTING RAW CHICKEN. My sister had ordered mole she cut into the chicken and was pink and just raw. We just wanted to leave at that point so we waited for our waiter to check up on us and nothing. 20 minutes had passed by and nothing so I had to go myself to the waiter to get the bill and bring it back to him. The food was not worth the price you can find better authentic Mexican food anywhere.

Vicky T.

Yelp
Food and drinks were delicious, but service was exceptional! Appetizers were so good, empanadas and elote . Main course enchiladas were also good

Abraham S.

Yelp
Polanquito was an experience. My table of three got the Steak Tomahawk, Pork Tomahawk, Spanish octopus, and the Aguachile and we loved every bit of it. Our server Natalia was great and created an experience for us. I wish we could have had dessert but we were pressed for time because we had to make a show at Sofi. I can't wait for our next time out at Polanquito. It won't be long!

Arianna G.

Yelp
This place has a great ambiance and amazing food. When we went we got good service with a nice server. I recommend this place it's a 10 out of 10!! There cocktails were good and as for the food I recommend the filet mignon tacos they are really juicy or the beef tomahawk. One thing I like about the concept is that owner used concepts from his prior restaurants and combined into one and brought it to downtown L.A. Overall, I Really recommend!

Queen B.

Yelp
I took a friend here for a birthday dinner and specifically notated in my notes when making the reservation that it was his birthday and to see if they can do anything special. I actually completely forgot about the birthday note and didn't mention anything when we got to the restaurant. The vibes were so low key and cute in the restaurant. The cocktails were spectacular and we tried out 5 different ones. The tomahawk was so juicy and had flavor and cooked to perfection. The service was what really topped off our birthday dinner for us. Our server Alex made such great recommendations and took excellent care of our table. He then made sure to bring out a complimentary birthday dessert with candles to end the meal on such a high note. I was impressed he took my notes into consideration given that most places really don't do that. The birthday dinner was such a hit and we will be back. Alex and the rest of the team thank you for a lovely dinner and experience!
