Pollo Bravo

This is one of my new favorite places near me that I tried the other day. They have a menu that is not complicated while still allowing for customization. It seems they also do large orders to bring the whole family & friends. I ordered the Winner Winner Chicken Dinner because of some of the images I saw in other reviews. For one person this is the way to go. The salad tasted better then in the pictures and the chicken was complimented by the side sauce. I went with the Green Goddess sauce. I felt like I could have had a bit more than the 1/4 of chicken but it all worked out since I also got a small order of fries. The fries were well-seasoned and soft almost creamy on the inside and came with two dipping sauces. I think one appeared to be an aioli and the other a brava sauce. To complete the experience I ordered one of their chocolate chip & almond cookies to-go. Delicious! Shoutout to the friendly team that took care of me and their beautiful indoor and outdoor space that is making me want to visit again.

First time at Pollo Bravo and I have to say the chicken was super juicy cooked to perfection, food was amazing, the variety of sauce was great and cauliflower delicious as well as the potatoes and salad. Prices are surprisingly great. Highly recommended to anyone.

Ok so to be transparent, I could see a lot of people coming here and complaining "it's just chicken" or being dismissive. But it is a 5/5 for execution of chicken and I think people really need to understand that. The sides are excellent and I truly believe this area of Portland needs more resturaunts like this. It's fantastic. The portion sizes are generous and the prices are fair. This spot deserves so much success. --- sauces --- Fermented hot sauce ⭐⭐⭐ - not spicy Brava sauce ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - tomato --- food --- Half bird ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - juicy and tender - not overly salty Broccolini a la plancha ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ - I liked how this wasn't soggy - the seasoning was good too Cauliflower ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - my boyfriend loves this, I find the sauce a little salty - the cauliflower on its own is out of this world though ❤️ Potatoes bravas ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - this hit unreasonably hard for me - it's fluffy, it's not oily. I adored it.

Fantastic chicken, possibly the best grilled chicken i’ve had. Extremely juicy and flavorful. Potatoes went very well with the sauces, you can choose two with the familia combo i got, but each additional sauce is 1$ each. Salad was a little bitter, but still went well with the meal. Definitely will come back here!!

Possibly the best chicken and chicken sandwich in northwest! This spot feels like unknown hotspot that hasn’t gotten the attention it deserves. I don’t have single complaint from the jojo style fries to the dipping sauces to the gluten free cheesecake. I don’t get gluten free options but I had to try their cheesecake. It was the best cheesecake hands down. If you haven’t tried this chicken sandwich, you can’t have list of best in area without this place! It’s perfect.

My son and me decided to go for lunch to Pollo Bravo and it was a very good choice !! The food was extremely delicious, the service too and also the place it's very nice, Margaritas were amazing and also the desert!! We really loved it!!!

The chicken and chicken sandwich were lip smacking good. The Patatas Bravas a must get. The sauces are all made at the restaurant and so good. Perfect portions and wonderful, friendly staff. We most certainly will be back when we are next in the PDX area.

I really like the food here. I really like the winner winner chicken dinner entrée… I was thinking about getting it all day today. I got it to go after I got out of work and first I thought they forgot the sauce and I called them to see if I had forgotten to ask for it in my order. They told me it was in a small bag and I had totally missed it because it was so light. My bad😬 It’s so yummy but did the size go down by like half? Hope somebody just ordered the wrong size ramekins this time. Even the 2 pieces of chicken was a breast cut in half… maybe it’s always been like that? I mean, the salad is really delicious and there’s plenty of it but you know… I wish I got a little more protein and sauce😆 I guess I’ll just have to order an extra piece of chicken in a second side of sauce next time

I've went here since it was back in Pine State Market. I liked it a lot but it was always too far away for me to visit again. Working a bit closer now I've ordered them through delivery a few times and it's just as I remember it. Chicken - grilled, flavored, juicy + pick a sauce that sounds good. I always get the green goddess (herbed ranch), it is by far one of the best damn sauces out there. Not to mention the fact that this is one of the best grilled chickens in Portland, possibly the US? It's just so juicy, tender and flavorful. It's not cheap going for $36 ($19 for half and $10 for quarter). I rarely spend lavishly on meals or even chicken. Is it worth the price? Totally if you can budget for it. Their potatoes are like potato wedges. Good seasoning, good crisp to it. Pick a sauce for that as well. Not the best in the world but they work so well with the chicken. Their Radicchio salad is light, fresh and tasty, although the taste may not be for everyone. Overall prices are reasonable for many of their items and this place is worth trying at least once.

Will definitely be ordering again. I ordered half a chicken, potato wedges, and almond cookie. Everything was great. Def recommend the bone broth and garlic aioli as sauces. Wasn't a fan of their salad and other sauces the previous times I ordered. Today's order was perfect for me. As for dessert, this was my first time ordering the cookie and I'm so glad I caved. I believe there were whole almonds in the cookie. I love the idea of getting extra protein in dessert. Delish!

THE CHICKEN IS SECOND TO NONE. And the place is cute as hell too. I would eat here everyday if I had to.

Delicious! We ordered sandwiches for lunch and it does not disappoint. Everything was made in perfection. Not overcooked or overdone. The fried chicken crust/breading had a great flavor. Great service. Lots of seating inside.

Holy moly this food is so good! I was missing Toro Bravo so thought I'd try it out. While it's not the same ownership it is amazing food! So happy to have found this place and will definitely be back over and over again

Update! The owner, Sarah, reached out to me and explained the variance in the cauliflower dish I received. It looks like at some point the recipe did change, but the cauliflower still can be made without the carrots, onion and peppers by request. Glad to be able to return here soon!

The location was easy to find. I was so excited to try this place, but sorely disappointed. I ordered the chicken with potatoes. The chicken was a bit dry. Frankly, it seemed as if it was just reheated. Perhaps, if you got a fresh baked chicken it would be juicy. Husband ordered the pork sandwich. Not very good either. Though we all enjoyed the fried potatoes and the appetizer. Probably won't be back as I prefer places that provide consistent quality. Too bad, the service and restaurant are nice.

Chicken was perfectly cooked. Not dry or greasy. The fermented hot sauce is the perfect accompaniment. The fried potatoes were also excellent. I'm not a huge fan of the radicchio salad. I like olives in salad nicoise but not this.

I'm a fan, and rotisserie chicken has my full attention. The seasoning, the sauces, the family dinner--all winners. I also love the radicchio salad and the potatoes. The cauliflower was very charred and not something I'd order again. I'm back, just four days Amy last visit because the chicken dinner fed two people for three fabulous dinners. Highly recommend!

Love love loved the food!!! The music is a bit loud for talking inside, but the service staff is friendly and fast. We will be back!

I rarely order chicken when I go out to eat but this is some of the tastiest, most tender chicken I've had. The radicchio salad was amazing and could be a meal on its own. I went with the salad + chicken combo - balanced and filling. The service was excellent and friendly.

Delish chicken sandwich, fries, dipping sauces and salad! Still thinking about them and will be back for more. Cocktails were balanced and petfect pairing.

Great fresh food. The radicicho salad is the best salad ever! Blistered peppers, croquettes, fries and who needs chicken even though it is delicious too. We always order food and hang out next door at Upnorth for beer while we eat. Go eat there or get it to go but go!!!!

What a place. Definitely try the cauliflower. 9/10 will visit again. You sit inside and outside. We had variety of food. Taste was amazing. You can sit inside or outside. The ambiance is amazing. Service is top grade. Will definitely visit again.

Fantastic chicken spot, wonderful and friendly staff. The chicken was money but the radicchio salad on the side was so good. Highly recommend and just wish they were closer to me!

Great experience for a 'mid afternoon snack for me and my family. Had the cauliflower bites, fries and a sandwich split between us. Looking forward to returning and trying a few more items.

Met 4 other friends there and it was delicious. If I could I would give it 4 1/2. Very reasonable in price I think when the Gorham's owned it it was much better. I miss the days of the Tasty restaurants.

Best chicken I've ever had! Juicy, tender, and perfectly seasoned. I haven't found any chicken as good as this, in all the cities I've traveled to. The potatoes and sauces were excellent, too. We completely enjoyed the meal and would be regulars, if we lived nearby. Such a great meal!

Always fresh, healthy, delicious - best in class flavors and drinks are great too! Customer service has great energy and it's a great dine in vibe or to go spot!

One of the more disappointing food experiences of my Portland trip. I got the "Winner Winner Chicken Dinner" which consisted a quarter bird and radicchio salad. The woman taking my order recommended their romesco sauce, since it was their most popular. Food came out pretty quickly. The chicken itself was pretty dry and tasted like it was sitting under a heat lamp for quite some time. The skin didn't have the crispiness that many other reviewers have written about. The romesco sauce was just okay. I did really enjoy the radicchio salad though. The olives and garlic bread crumbs were the best part. The salad was fresh with everything being mixed/prepared just for me.

Why was this place so dead on a Saturday night that staff outnumbered the guests? We figured out pretty fast that it was because everything they served is...almost. The cocktails were bland, the "roasted" cauliflower oily and salty (but on a great green sauce). The chicken, the salad, the potatoes (why oh why are they sweet?), the sauces, all of them were weird, off, or uninteresting. In a city full of great food you can safely skip this place.

Pollo Bravo is a great chicken spot in Pine Street Market. My friend and I decided to check out Pollo Bravo since it an eatery that we hadn't tried before. We ordered the quarter chicken, which included two chicken pieces, a drumstick and a breast and one sauce of our choice. We chose the romesco sauce, which is an almond red pepper sauce. Our chicken was juicy and flavorful, and went well with the creamy romesco sauce. I would say a quarter chicken is good for one person if you're not eating anything else, but was great for sharing since we were trying other food items in the market. Pollo Bravo is known for their chicken, so that's what to get here. We enjoyed our chicken and I recommend for anyone who likes a good ol' rotisserie chicken. I'll have to try the tapas next time with my chicken!

One of the most under-rated restaurants in Portland in my opinion. Everything I've had here has been top-notch. The best croquettas and patatas bravas I've had outside of Spain. The roast chicken is awesome, and the sauces (especially the romesco) just puts it over the top. Even the cheapest glass of wine they sell is really good. For the quality of what you are getting, it's also a great value.

The chicken is tremendous! A "go to" for delivery when we don't want to go out. The broccoli as a side dish is unfailingly good.

Decent vibe and friendly service. The burger was incredibly whack. Do not recommend. Tbh, I'm giving three stars because maybe I'm just picky. It was... creative, but for my personal taste a 1/5, too salty and bizarre flavors.

THANK GOODNESS y'all opened up again! Covid hit us hard but I was deeply upset that y'all closed. This is by far my favorite restaurant for salad, potatoes bravas, and CHICKEN! The food is well worth the drive no matter how far you come. Start by ordering the chicken and radicchio. The chicken is always bursting with flavor and you can't forget the dipping sauces! Personally my favorites are the romescu and green goddess. Then if you're feeling extra spicy, order some potatoes. Those little jojos are so yummy. And you can't forget about their cookies. Wow! Anyway enough scrambling and get to eating. ;)

I loved this place so much I went twice during my trip to Portland. Pollo Bravo is located in an eating house-style establishment in the downtown area. There's a simple bar and a few high top tables where you can order food. The bartenders are very friendly here and were pleasant to interact with. I ordered the Winner Winner Chicken Dinner quarter both times. It comes with a radicchio salad, which is very light and has a crispy crouton-like topping on it. The chicken is served rotisserie style and was cooked perfectly both times. I tried the romesco sauce and the green goddess sauce as well as the aioli. The romesco sauce is excellent so definitely keep it in mind if you're ordering any chicken. Prices are fair. I paid around $12 for the chicken and the salad. I'd come back!

I have to go back did not expect there chicken sandwich to not be a regular basic sandwich I loved the surprise I didn't dine in but restaurant looked very calm a chill local spot

Pollo Bravo manages to be both incredibly tasty and a really great bang for your buck. I ordered the Winner Winner Dinner, which comes with a generous quarter portion of roasted chicken, a radicchio salad, and a sauce of your choice -- all for only $12! It was enough to feed me and one hungry toddler who loves xhixke. The chicken was juicy, with a perfectly crisp skin, and even the breast meat was good and not dry (I'm normally a dark meat girl all the way). I got the Green Goddess sauce on the suds, which was described as an "herbaceous ranch ," but tasted a little fishy for me (I'm pretty sure there was anchovies in there). I think I'd pass and get the hot sauce or garlic mayo aioli next time. Normally the side salad isn't anything to write home about, but I loved how crunchy, fresh and bright tasting it was. The radicchio perfectly complemented the heavier chicken and it made for a well rounded meal. I noticed you can also opt for the Winner Winner Family Dinner, which comes with an entire bird and is probably a great option for larger groups. Update: I came back later in the week to eat here AGAIN and got the almond romesco sauce recommended by the worker. It was amazing!! I'm even tempted to try to learn how to make my own. Definitely getting that with my chicken next time!

We were in Portland for a short time and trying a bunch of places, so all I ordered was a small box of chicken. It was great! Yummy roasted chicken breast, straight up. If you just have a chicken craving for sure they can satisfy it.

Absolutely delicious, we ordered a family meal and it fed us for two more days. The dipping sauces are amazing. Eat here!

Came for happy hour and food was one of the best that I had in Portland. We ordered: Garlic Prawns "gambas al ajillo" Bravo Plate Rotisserie Pork Loin Bocadillo Quarter bird with Josh's Fermented Hot Sauce & Romesco Everything was flavorful and cooked perfectly. Prices were so reasonable.

Wow everything was so delicious!! The chicken and sauces were phenomenal. I loved the radicchio salad. The basque cheesecake was heavenly. They're also super friendly!

The chicken is incredible. It's so well cooked and seasoned. The employees are very friendly and helpful. They are super attentive. It's clean, and relaxing, it really is a great place to get a delicious meal. The chicken is a must and the cauliflower is so good too

I cannot rave about the owner Sarah enough. She went above and beyond for a big last minute change on a lunch order I needed for a meeting at the office. Our CEO specifically asked for Spanish food and I am so glad Pollo Bravo was the ONLY place I could find that offered lunch. Everything was amazingly perfect! They did not disappoint. Even having it delivered across town, it was still hot and so so tasty! Chicken was delicious and juicy, the seasoning on the cauliflower was amazing, Broccolini had a slight citrus flavor that was surprising to me but so good! Radicchio salad was fresh and yummy, potatoes soft and crispy and the croquettes? Ugh, I could of eaten a dozen of them! So creamy and crunchy. Mmmmm. Best part for me personally was that there was just enough chicken, salad and potatoes for me to take home to share with my husband for dinner so now I get to enjoy it twice! GO TO SPOT PORTLAND Great for lunch and Happy Hour! The rotisserie pork sando is INSANE. Five stars all day long. Put this sandwich in the top 3 of all time. Delicious pork. Fried Manchego. Sautéed onions. Great baguette. Really f'n good. Full bar. I love the Pine Street Market. No tV.

Only commenting on the salad. It was super tasty and had a nice mix of textures. I loved the balance of savory cheese shavings and bright vinaigrette. I'll have to check out some other dishes in the future. I get the radicchio salad almost every time I'm here. It had the perfect balance of savoriness and refreshing bite!

Awesome chicken!!!! I decided to have the winner winner chicken dinner. Chicken was cooked to perfection. It was so tender, juicy and delicious! The salad that came with the chicken complimented it so well. I've never had this kind of salad before so it was a unique and new experience. It was so crunchy, refreshing and full of textures. In terms of sauces, I got the green goddess which was good. It tasted herbal and light. I would highly recommend the remesco sauce though because it was definitely the best! The bravo aoli was good but a little bit thicker and heavier. Overall and great experience simply because of well cooked chicken and unique salad!

Their bird is the best in town! It left us with a BIG impression and we keep going back for more every time we visit Portland. The bird is well seasoned, moist, and succulent. I always get a whole bird which comes with two choices of sauce. My two favorite sauces is romesco and green goodess (herbaceous ranch). Josh's fermented hot sauce is also very good. The first time I went I ordered half a bird for lunch and was so impressed how delicious it was that I ended up going back for dinner to order a whole bird. You can also pair your bird with beer or wine which they a several selections to choose from. The location is great and is inside the Pine Street Market which can get very busy depending what time in the day it is. It can be a challenge to find a seat so it's best to either get there early or wait a little later to eat. Furthermore, you have to find street parking or park it at the parking lot next to the market which you don't get reimbursed for. Regardless there are other restaurants to choose from in the Market including pizza, ramin, Korean to name a few. It's also in downtown Porland near the waterfront so there's a lot of shops nearby, food carts/pods and entertainment to keep you engaged and busy afterwards.

Took my friend here for a quick lunch since he's never been before. I've ate here a handful of times already and have not had a dry chicken once! We just ordered the half bird and an order of the potatoes bravos. The chicken was moist and had better flavoring than before (maybe I was just hungry). The dipping sauce was great (I like the hot sauce). Normally I would order more, but also order some food from the other vendor in the area.

we sat on their nicely lit and quiet back patio (but the inside was nice too), and a cordial but not kind server, do not make up for the pool of grease all my hot food came in- poured from my burger for 3 minutes- the sandwich was pitifully small for 10$. the salad was a good size and they have a good margarita and wedge fries - so i would take my in law or a date if i didn't want to be asked out again, thank you for the stomach ache!

I come out of a trance like state sucking on a chicken bone. My dog is looking at me like wtf bro that's my job! dont give dogs chickenbones btw, but she doesnt know that. All she sees is something I normally give her as a treat being sucked on by normally very generous master. Hence the wtf look shes giving. Btw I still havent stopped sucking on the chicken bone at this point, but its cashed out, so I realize maybe there are some morsels that fell off... nope. Ate it to fast for anything to escape. Damn.. they ladys asleep and hasnt had any yet, so I look at what I have left. The whole chicken meal; which is what you should order btw for the reasons listed below, is sitting before me with so far just one leg bone sucked dry. Do I want more. Yes. Will there be consequences. Oh yes. Will it be worth it?...: 2 adults of normal/healthy appetite can eat at least a dinner, like 4 lunches and a single snack that you will be fighting over. We did at least.. anyway that's about 11 meals for $45 + tip(oh u better). Your looking at under 5 bucks a serving for the best damn rotisserie chicken in town. In the post covid food budget world that is legit af. If you can find me better chicken than this for less, then it's on me. Seriously, that's 4 bucks. I'll buy it for you twice even on my covid budget lol, and it doesnt matter because you wont find it. This bird is cooked to a technical level of precision that really has no place in what is really at its heart a rotisserie chicken joint. Yeah it carry's the bravo name but look at the menu. It's a chicken joint and you just dont expect this kind of quality outside of a "fine" dining restaurant much less chicken joint in a cafeteria(albeit a high end one) setting. That basically covers the review but I know your thinking wait... what about the story! Did you eat the chicken? Did the dog get that bone after all? I know suspense right.... If you just want info about the food that's it, but your answers are as follows. No she didnt get the bone. We saved it make bone broth, which we love to do, or at least I did love to do before I tried the side of sipping broth they had the menu. Now I just know my efforts will be sad, inadequate, and ultimately unworthy. I'm ready to save a sample to have analyzed so I can recipe hack this sh!t. Seriously though. Get some. Your soul will thank you. Wait.. get 2. You will fight over them... we did. I ate like half that damn chicken without even stopping to breath. I hurt myself and got in trouble with the lady because I did such a good job with my pitch above(oh yeah I rehearsed that) regarding how it actually makes sense budget wise. Yeah... not so much this time. But. It was sooo worth it, and I do stand by those numbers. With self control you can make 10 servings + a joint snack for about 45 bucks. Less than 5 bucks a serving?! I cant feed myself at home using budget ingredients for that price, and these are primo nw sourced ingredients prepared by world class recognized chefs! Nuff said.

Love their new location, especially with a private side patio with music and lighting. Food--excellent as usual. This was the first time we got the family meal which were huge portions and satisfied our family of 4 with leftovers. It would be great if they had a way for customers that already ordered/started a tab, could quickly order more rather than wait in line again with the new folks. (Jade in Sellwood has a good system for this). Go visit their new digs!

Small flavors ... except the Aji Sauce ... made Pollo Bravo an unsatisfying choice at the Pine Street Market food hall. The Spanish-style Rotisserie Chicken was a major disappointment while the Spanish-style Garlic Prawns were just so-so. There are better tapas spots in Portland and probably better choices in the same food court. Padron Peppers ($8 - 4 stars) Simple, but effective blistering with Sea Salt made these peppers from Northwest Spain a choice I'd get again. * Garlic Prawns ($12 - 2.5 stars) Spanish Garlic Shrimp (aka Gambas al Ajillo) can be a powerful zesty dish and the garlic tried hard, but the shrimp just weren't good. * Rotisserie Cauliflower ($7 - 3 stars) I hoped for more thanks to to Chili Oil and Green Goddess, but the cauliflower was very average. From the Happy Hour (3:00 - 6:00) menu I got a couple drinks and one food item: * Quarter Bird ($6 - 2 stars) The Aji Sauce and Josh's Fermented Hot Sauce both really, really helped this mediocre supermarket quality chicken. Add an extra sauce for $0.50. * The Gin Tonic ($7 - 4.5 stars) My favorite thing at Pollo Bravo was this surprisingly refreshing blend of Beefeater Gin, Rose Tonic, and Spanish Bitters. * 12 oz Breakside IPA ($3 - 3 stars) Beer was fine, but glass felt small in my hands ... was small ... and gone quick. I'd rather pay $6 for a regular size pint. The total was $43 before tip which is a big bill for small portions and small flavors. Pollo Bravo may be inspired by Toro Bravo, but it is nothing like that 5-star restaurant in preparation, presentation, or experience.

Quarter Chicken with Green Goddess sauce -- Probably thee BEST chicken I've ever eaten. It was soo flavorful & cooked perfectly. The sauce was okay, my fiancé loved it though. The chicken was soo good by itself! I def regret not getting more to go tho. Guess we'll be coming back. Folks, if you want some awesome chicken, check this place out! Happy Eating!!

Perfect 3 stars on this one. Roasted cauliflower was better when I dipped it in one of the sauces but by it's self, it tasted burnt and I couldn't taste the cauliflower. The green sauce is good but a tad over salted. The chicken was seasoned with more salt than spices. Comparing pollo bravo to the other two famous roasted chicken places here in Portland, (I feel it's tacky to name them here) this one falls short. Without the sauces, the chicken doesn't hold up on it's own, sadly. All & All, this place is not horrible by no means, but impossible to give them a higher rating when the competition in town is killing it.

Fantastic rotisserie chicken. Very simple but delicious sides as well. Great healthy food option.
