Too bad, really. I was hoping for something good and unusual to compete with the hamburger strands and other boring lunch spots along "franchise valley" aka Brooklyn Boulevard in Brooklyn Center. No such luck.
First visit I ordered the two-piece chicken meal. Definitely not competitive with Popeye's a couple of blocks to the East. Deep fried with skin on, no breading or crispy anything. The chicken had a kind of odd red color like it had been sprayed with some kind of flavor treatment. The chicken was also overcooked, as was the side of very plain rice. Definite never-order-again.
Second visit I ordered the three chicken empanada meal. The empanada shells (crusts? pastries?) were soft and slightly crispy, not soggy with oil like many I have had, Including empanadas I have had in Argentina. Really pretty good. The filling, though was a sort of medium-thick chili with a little yellow corn and little evidence of chicken. It didn't look at all like the web menu picture. Flavor was OK, but quite sweet. I didn't hate it and the shell was quite pleasant, but this one won't go onto the order-again list either
The bean side dish was actually best of all. It was a sort of bean slurry with some whole beans added. The flavor was similar to Hormel chili, which I like, but it was quite runny. A surprise, really and its appearance was completely unlike its representation in the web menu, which shows a bowl full of beans.
Drive-through service was good both visits.
