This place is surprising on my top 5 favorite fried chicken places in the Austin area. I know it has a drive through and is technically fast food but the fried chicken compares to more upscale fried chicken places. It's always served hot, crispy and full of a unique flavor. One day I will actually explore the menu but I'm stuck on the three pice meal. Staff is friendly, service is quick and the atmosphere is well kept.

Had a really great first experience. The rest have been pretty subpar. Basically if the Campero fried chicken is cooked in fresh oil and recently fried, it's really good. I'm not a skin guy but this was great. It's not spicy at all but still flavorful and my son likes it a lot and he's not a skin guy either. However if the chicken is cooked in old reused oil and has been sitting under the heat lamp for a bit it's not good at all. Unfortunately that version seems to be more common. They also have the slow roasted grilled chicken. Personally I’m a fried chicken guy but I really really liked this. Great thing is for orders of four pieces or more you can do half and half which gives a nice variety. The chicken is grilled really well and has a slight lemony taste. I still need to explore the sides more but the mac and cheese is decent for the kids and the beans were alright. Prices aren't great. It'll run you just under 3 dollars per piece of chicken. Overall i would say 3.5, rounded down.

The personnel is very friendly, food was warm and tasty and the restaurant was super clean. Congratulations to the manager and the team. The horchata tasted like heaven on a summer day!!

Google
The chicken is some of the tastiest I've ever had. The sweet plantains is a side not normally offered. They were also good. You can choose a roll or tortillas with your meal. No condiments so both are pretty dry. They had a mango drink that was refreshing. Save room for the flan. Only $3 and a great finish to your meal. Dress warmly as the temperature inside was close to meat locker.

I loved the chicken—it was super good! This was my first time visiting and I was really impressed with how friendly and welcoming everyone was. The service was great, the food came out fresh, and the atmosphere made me feel comfortable right away. I’ll definitely be coming back!

This was our third time eating at Pollo Campero in Round Rock. The fried chicken has great flavor, even when you don't eat the skin (like me lol) . The food is fresh and the workers are friendly. Highly recommend it.

Our New Favorite Chicken Spot: A Family Night Success! Family nights are all about good food and great company, but sometimes picking a place can be a bit of a gamble. Recently, we decided to try out a "new" chicken restaurant in town—at first, we were a little hesitant. It looked promising, but you know how it goes with new spots. The last thing you want is to end up disappointed after all the hype. But, I’m happy to report that we were all pleasantly surprised. The fried chicken hit the mark. Crispy, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. It was exactly what we’d been craving. The sides? Just as impressive. The coleslaw was creamy but not too heavy, providing the perfect crunch to balance out the richness of the chicken. The mac & cheese was cheesy and comforting, and even the beans were spot on. Now, not everything was a winner. We were pretty excited to try the flan for dessert, but it was not the best. It was way too creamy for our liking, and the caramel sauce was overwhelming. And trust me, I love caramel, so that’s saying something. But here’s the thing—despite the flan being a bit of a letdown, the rest of the meal more than made up for it. And if I could make one suggestion to take this place from good to great? Add mashed potatoes to the menu. I think they’d be a perfect pairing with that fried chicken. Overall, we were left full, happy, and ready to come back. We found a new favorite chicken joint, and I think you should check it out too!

The roasted and fried chicken are always hot and delicious. The empanadas are great as well. I have not found a side item that taste well enough to eat. The only side we haven't tried are the plantains. No one in our home likes plantains, so they may taste great to others.

Yelp
Best tasting crispy batter. If you eat at the restaurant, you get real plates and metal silver-wear even though it's fast food. They also have fried plantains.

Yelp
Pollo Campero is a pretty solid and affordable place for chicken and sides. I placed a pickup order and overall the entire process was easy. We tried both of their grilled and fried dark meat chicken as well as their beans, yuca fries, and dinner rolls. Both types of chicken were good, although we both preferred the tenderness of the grilled chicken. The beans were decent and the yuca fries tasty. The rolls were also nice and sweet. Quantity wise, the three-piece is already a good amount and excited to try more of their sides.

Yelp
This place is trash. The food is awful. I ordered the Campero Box. The sandwich was average. The nuggets were cold and hard. The fries were hard. How do you serve food cooked to order cold and hard. The service was average. The restaurant is new so great ambiance. This food was just nasty. You can buy frozen food and microwave it better than this.

Yelp
Their fried chicken is the absolute best. Crispy, juicy and full of flavor! I've grown on pollo campero from when it was brought back from Central America and in SoCal. I'm happy that they opened one close to us in Round Rock. Pros: Delicious, flavorful fried chicken Friendly staff Great service (staff tend to you as if you were eating at sit down restaurant that's not fast food!) Cons: Yucca fries are super dry and missing seasoning Fries dry and flavorless Coleslaw drenched in mayo unlike the pictures Plantains, not ripe enough. As Guatemalans we eat sweet plantains as a side. These were in between. I will come back for chicken only. I will continue to support this place as I went twice around the time they had just opened. Plan on ordering catering plate of 50 pc chicken.

Yelp
I'm Salvadoran and of course need my Pollo Campero dosis every now and then! So good, so yummy, so fresh and I love the fact that now is in an area closer to my neighborhood. Space is clean, well kept up, definitely the brand has been working to improve their ambiance and quickness.

Yelp
Worst chicken Ive ever tasted (couldnt eat). Hard as a rock like it had been sitting under heat lamp for hours. 12 piece meal gives you 2 breast, 2 thigh then 8 iterations of picture below. Literally, no edible meat in any of them. For what you are paying this is laughable. On top of this our mac n cheese was missing, like come on its part of the family meal not even an add on

Gregg W.

Yelp
Prices were crazy, 6 pc of chicken and a 9 pc nugget for $32 what a joke. The chicken was so salty we just tossed it out. Would never go back.

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise- our dinners were served on real plates with silverware. Loved the Citrus Chicken and campero beans. Other chicken was tastee and crisp. Look forward to returning .

Yelp
I've been to other locations and they were great. I came here and went through the drive thru. I ordered a 9 piece with yuca fries. Had to repeat the order 3 times. I received regular fries and nuggets that were hard and dry.

Yelp
Delicious Guatemalan fried chicken! So happy to have a location in Round Rock. All Texas locations NEED to serve mashed potatoes and gravy. Makes no sense to bring chain to Texas without mashed potatoes and gravy. Missed opportunity at the corporate level

Yelp
Very clean restaurant. Ordered grilled chicken. It was very tangy with a lime, too tangy. The skin was very mushy and no real char on the chicken. The meat was okay. Coleslaw had a lot of mayonnaise. Bit my style. I do LOVE grilled chicken. This place was not like the stellar south of the border restaurants that grill and flame broil chicken that Austin has in abundance

Yelp
So flavorful and delicious!! Fabulous central American food in a great atmosphere. It's now my favorite for fried chicken!!

Yelp
First time trying this place and location. We got the nugget meal (my son enjoyed it), an original sandwich meal (it was ok, nothing special and not warm) and my husband the 4 piece meal. The chicken was meh~ my son liked it but it was subpar to me. Nothing was hot~ def not fresh. The fries were horrible. Literally tasted old or at the very least were reheated. & we went at 5:45pm~ you'd think it would be fresh food for the dinner rush. The meals don't include a drink either which for the price I was confused by. Just really unimpressed with this first visit honestly; wouldn't go back when there's much better places nearby.

Yelp
Went there for the first time and it was delicious. I had the 4 piece fried chicken with beans and Cole slaw. The chicken was perfection and so were the sides. Will definitely be back! Wife had the nuggets and mac and cheese and loved it as well.

Yelp
Went there today after work for dinner. I had read all the good reviews so I figured I would give it a try. First of all no regular sweet or unsweetened tea. They have a bunch of fruit flavored teas instead. The roll is really small compared to their competitors. The French fries were not hot or warm. I think they had been sitting for a bit. And their chicken... I got their fried 3 piece. The pieces were a decent size and the taste... The taste is kind of a cross between Walmart's chicken and KFC's. I will visit them again in the future. Now the price... I got a 3 piece two breast and a wing with fries. I paid extra for the breast. And I didn't get a drink. It came out to $13.50. Everyone was super nice. Good customer service.

Yelp
Didn't allow us to use our coupons they gave out in the mail on day one, food wasn't the greatest and fried a few different things

Yelp
Planned to check out this place when we saw them building it. Noticed it was open, so we stopped in for a quick bite. The fried chicken was really tasty, although extremely greasy. I don't mean greasy like all fried chicken, it was thick grease. They must use actual lard for frying, because it was thick! That being said, the meat itself was flavorful and moist, but that's the best thing I can say about Pollo Campero. The sides were so boring and tasteless. Their beans have way too much chili powder. No other flavor, just chili powder. Gag! The Spicy Chicken Sandwich was pretty ordinary, nothing special. Heartburn inducing mostly. The sweet bread and butter pickles don't go with a spicy sandwich. They should use sour pickles to go with the spice. It's hard to mess up a roll, but it was reminiscent of those rolls from the school cafeteria. Wish I could say something positive, but even the staff was unfriendly and apathetic. Other than taking my order and announcing the price, they never said another word to me until I drove away. Just handed me the food and shut the window. I don't like it when they take my card and don't immediately return it. They kept my card until they handed over the food. That's not cool. Run the card and hand it back with a receipt immediately!! Skip this place. Not cool! in fact, it was a letdown and I wish I had my $17 back instead of this heartburn. Disappointing.

Yelp
Its aiight. Got the 3 piece fried chicken meal with yuca fries and a roll. Normally, the term "meal" assumes you also get a drink. Not here. The meal is the chicken, one side and either a roll or tortilla. Drink is extra. The fried chicken does not stand out from any other fast food place. Another yelper compared it to a cross between Walmart chicken and KFC. Harsh, I initially thought, but not entirely untrue. It's just ok fried chicken. The roll was cold and the Yuca fries were warm, not hot, like they'd been under the heat lamp for awhile. There's better grilled chicken and Yuca fries at Inca Chicken on Wells Branch. This place will probably make it because we are a nation of fat, unhealthy people, so if they hadn't built a Pollo Campero here they would've squeezed in another Popeyes or Shake Shack (shoulder shrug).

Matt M.

Yelp
The Fried chicken reminds me of naked wings, although slightly better in taste, there is better chicken elsewhere...
