Polo Fried Chicken (Soi Polo)

The fried chicken here is absolutely delicious — crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and topped with a mountain of crispy fried garlic and onions. It’s packed with flavor and not greasy at all. I also tried the pork soup, which was rich, comforting, and full of depth. If you love classic Thai-style fried chicken, this place is a must. I seriously loved the chicken — one of the best I’ve had in Bangkok!

Legendary restaurant in Bangkok that has earned fame for its exceptional fried chicken, but not the best chicken choice among locals. Other dishes delivered a better experience than its famed chicken, which seems more roasted than fried. Drop by before 8pm since most of the chicken quota runs out early. Exceptionally touristy with more than 70% of the entire restaurant filled with expats. Family friendly and open to groups, but there will always be a waiting line of around 15-20 minutes wait. The table turnaround is quite fast. Located near Lumpini Park and Polo, this restaurant has operated over half a century, spanning three generations of the same family. There is private parking nearby but the spaces are limited to 6-8 cars at most. Walkable from Suanlum park and One Bangkok.

We got this delivered since it was out of the way for us. I recommend getting the set as that’s very bang for buck and you get everything. The corn salad is also very good (I preferred it to the papaya salad here). Generous portions. The chicken was pretty good. I’m sure it’s much better fresh since it wasn’t crispy obviously when we had it. I’m glad I got to try it but I feel like there are a lot of places that make chicken like this. I didn’t taste anything super special with this place. But still good chicken.

I have been in Thailand for many years and I have heard so much about Polo fried chicken but haven't had the chance to try it yet. I even have some foreigner friends asking me why I haven't tried it despite staying in Thailand for so many years. This time I finally decided to drive over to try this legendary fried chicken. There is a parking lot very near to the restaurant, but looks like limited space. But the staffs are are very willing to help. And if you are dining there, parking will be free. Ordered a few dishes including, of course, their legendary fried chicken. Grill pork neck was very well seasoned and grilled perfectly. Its very flavorful. Spicy pork soup was quite intense. It was slightly too spicy for me. But to be honest, if this dish was not spicy, then it won't taste good. So yea, I definitely love this dish. The fall off the bone meat was super tasty. Ordered 2 types of papaya salad. They were really good. Fried curry fish cake (forgot to take photos). This was always my all time favorite snacks in Thailand. But their version was the worst I ever tasted. It was swimming in oil when they served it. We had to use tissue to pat them dry. There are no flavors at all and this looks like it was done in a rush. I absolutely hated this dish. Now the fried chicken. We ordered half chicken and it was served with lots of deep fried crispy garlic on top. I love my fried chicken with lots of crispy garlic! Thankfully, it was not dripping in oil. To be honest, I feel that the chicken was overcooked and too dry for my liking, much too dry. However the skin was very flavorful, nice and crunchy. Overall, I wouldn't say this is the best fried chicken in Thailand, but one of the better ones, just not great.

Was recommended by my relatives to try the food here. We got their famous fried chicken, sticky rice, salad (I forgot which) and fried fish cakes. The chicken was really really good and piping hot when served. The other dishes that we ordered were great too! A must try if you are visiting Bangkok!

Another Bangkok Michelin gem quest. Ambience is quiet, maybe it was just too early in the morning and they were just opened the business. Fried chicken is so damn good, well done fried, crispy outside, soft inside. Tender, not much effort to chew. The portion is huge, even for the half one. I think I also fall in love with the dip sauce, blend of savory, spicy and sour. Just perfect. That was the first time I tried papaya salad, so I can't comment some, except the papaya is fresh, crunchy and boost my appetite, just like pickles. Service quiet bad, all staffs are less attentive, no greeting, no smile, not friendly as Thai should be. However, recommended.

Don’t go out if your way…good but definitely not great or super memorable. Dark meat was juicy, white meat was dry. Papaya salad was solid. Service was friendly and efficient but nothing special. Sat in the air conditioned side. Didn’t have to wait cause I think I got lucky as a few tables got up when I arrived around 12:30pm. Food was cheap though, so nothing to complain about, but also don’t see any reason to return.

Easily the best meal i had in Bangkok. Cheap and very delicious Having fried chicken with sticky rice is a different experience. It elevates the dish so much better. Ordered the half fried chicken, sticky rice, papaya salad, and the grilled beef. Eating the fried chicken with papaya salad & sticky rice with their spicy chilli sauce - just chef's kiss! The burst of flavours in your mouth is so satisfying. The shop is pretty modest, not too big, but thankfully I came during off peak hour 2+/3pm on a Saturday and there was no queue but only a couple of empty table left. Service was great and the food came pretty fast. I truly enjoyed the meal and will come back again!
