"Pomelo, a restaurant in the Inner Sunset area of San Francisco, has permanently closed after nearly 25 years in business. The closure was attributed to financial difficulties during the pandemic, the loss of the restaurant's lease, supply chain and staffing issues, and increased costs. The owners expressed gratitude to their patrons for their loyalty and support over the years." - Dianne de Guzman

Overall it was a good take out experience. The food was delicious and the portion well sized. I asked to remove the pork from my dish which they agreed but were not willing to replace it with anything else so that disappointed me and they barely put any shrimp. I got the Manila and I’d recommend trying it if you wish to go to this spot.

Their Havana is consistently delicious. Quite a few good combinations on this dish, such as the chipotle ginger tofu

Quaint yet cozy with excellent cuisine. It's a special friend who owns and manages Pomelo.

I've been here many times and I love the intimacy of this place. You can sit right next to the kitchen and watch them cook your meal! Somewhat romantic. They also have quite a variety of food here with unique dishes. The prices are somewhat high but the food is delicious. Great, small little place for a nice dinner. I ordered what I normally order which was an ahi tuna noodle dish (Lanzhou, $19) and rice noodles with prawns, chicken, and Chinese sausage (Manila, $12.50). Both were delicious (although a tad salty). And the server was friendly and polite.

A cozy Asian-fusion/international kitchen that is literally a kitchen with a few tables + counter. I've had the brunch on the Church location and it has a similar, small but cozy vibe. This location only had lunch and dinner and quite different hours. I had the Lanzhou, which was Ahi tuna seared with garlic noodles. There was some ginger and other spices as well. The tuna was seasoned quite well and had nice texture and seared almost perfectly. The noodles were also cooked well and not overly salty. My only complaint would be the food was piping hot temperature wise. I also tried a bit of the coconut curry and it was quite creamy, but still had good Southeast Asian flavors. I think this dish did burn my tongue. Besides the food being too hot (and the restaurant being warm inside too), this place has a nice variety of dishes from vegetarian to meat and features a lot of cool flavor mixes from around the world. Come here for a nice 1-on-1 dinner.

Food is decent. Nothing too special. They have a globally-inspired cuisine, but if you want that specific cuisine, go to a restaurant that specializes in that particular cuisine. The real downfall of this place was the waiter. He was rude, bumped into me multiple times, tried to reach over me, and took 15 minutes to welcome us after we sat at the table. He was setting new silverware for empty seats before asking us how we were and what we wanted to drink. The chef was hard-working and put out good food. Open kitchen preparation which was cool. Go and see for yourself.

I'd give 4.5 stars if I could. This is 1.5 blocks from our home and is a great dinner option for ucsf and local residents. They have some staples on the menu and change out some entrees seasonally. Global cuisine in a cozy setting, and if you sit at the bar you can watch the skilled chefs prepare the meals. A very special and underrated place.
