Living three years in the neighborhood and walking by literally every day, we finally gave Pomodoro a try, as it was busy on a Monday night, so must be good.
Looking at the wine menu, there was just basic wines, I tried the Merlot, wich was mediocre and then I went for the Chianti, it was aweful. I found out I could have had a bottle for less in a store. I didn't finish the glass. Cheap wines for $17 glass. That was the first red flag - should have left then already. But we still were hopeful.
Next, we typically go with the Signature dishes as those are typically good, ordered Lasagne and a Carbonara, which in an italian restaurant should be easy to succeed. Unfortunately, total failure. The carbonara was loaded with Swiss cheese not only on top but also mixed within. Pasta was overcooked and definately not homemade. Shallots and two different types of ham which were tasteless, and lots of oil which probably should present the sauce. It was aweful. This dish had nothing to do with an italian carbonara dish.
The lasagne came with a side mix of green beens, broccoli and carrots, maybe to distract from the lasagne. Because the Lasagne also had a load of Swiss type of cheese, the sauce was a riccotta bolognese, tasteless and consistency absolutely uneatable. Not to mention that the vegetables had no taste at all either.
We felt like at an overpriced restaurant somewhere in a tourist trap being robbed - as the price for Lasagne $36 and Carbonara $29 was not worth a single penny.
We finished with half full plates, half full glass of wine, and didn't get even asked if there was something wrong. Sorry, for a neighborhood place I was stunned of the ignorance.
Thankfully it was just the two of us, and we didn't bring any friends here.
Sorry, but this was a ripoff!
