I love this place! The pizza is simple and amazing with probably the best pizza sauce I've had in years. I cannot recommended it highly enough! The salads we're simple and great, and the soup was also very hearty and satisfying. The bread that came with the soup had a great garlicky crust that complimented the soup perfectly. This is a great place and we can't wait to come back. I'm definitely going to try all of the pizzas they have!

Best pizza in Durham. Their gluten free crust isn't nearly as bad as most places (trust me, still a compliment) and they have the best vegan pizza options we've had yet in the Durham area. They make their mozzarella in house, and I believe that extends to their vegan mozzarella. While the vegan mozzarella doesn't necessarily melt, it's still pretty good. The ingredients always taste fresh and flavorful, and the offer better toppings than most places we've seen around here, including flavored oils and fresh herbs and arugula. Their house made vegan sausage is really good as well! Sadly, it's their only vegan protein and isn't gluten free, but it's something at least. If you're looking for vegan pizza, I recommend their vegan chasew cream sauce and an extra side of marinara. Their sauce could use a little extra garlic and the vegan mozzarella doesn't melt, so you'll need both. And definitely get the vegan cheesecake! SOOOO good. One time it was a little off, but that every other time it's been perfect.

We liked the ordering at the counter when you walk in. There are partitions to distance customers who are masked, when they come in and order, from the tables where customers are eating and not masked. Within minutes we had our beers. There's a small but well chosen menu of craft beers on draft, mostly from local brewery, and they rotate the taps regularly. We ordered a classic margarita and a white pizza with portobello mushrooms and goat cheese to share. Both were delicious. The crust was thin and bubbly with just the right amount of char. I personally prefer the tomato sauce slightly sweeter, but that's just me, I couldn't fault the margarita. I rarely order white pizza as it often is either dry or too rich or greasy with white sauce. This one may be about the best I've had, with roasted garlic and caramelized onion, portobello mushrooms and topped with goat cheese. It was just the right balance and all the flavors came through. You could taste the roasted garlic without it being overpowering, the caramelized had the the tight amount of sweetness to perfectly balance out the goat cheese. And it was a generous amount of goat cheese. I would absolutely come come back for that pizza and can't wait to try some other ones. They are served with scissors to cut. I was hesitant at first, but it works great and it's effortless. Other than the food, the setting is casual but comfortable and inviting in an old building downtown. Last but not least, service was great. Friendly and efficient without being overbearing. The pizzas arrived in under ten minutes.

I really love this place. Their pizzas are beyond good. I ordered the araicini (Fried risotto balls with marinara) , Margherita, and their signature pizza the Pompieri. The flavor on each was really good, and would recommend them all. I am definitely coming back for more. I will have to try some new pizzas.

I didn't know what pizza was supposed to taste like until I went to this place. In the words of the great Bruno Mars "I've been locked out of heaven for too long". I was introduced to this place on a food tour I did in Durham. Friendly and passionate owner introduced us to this amazing style of pizza and very tasty wine. Ingredients are local and food is crafted with detail and heart. I enjoy the atmosphere as well. The fish tanks are amazing. It's a great place for families and date night. Everytime we go to Durham we eat here. We don't bother going to the other restaurants which I'm sure are good too. But I'm telling you, once you try this pizza everything else is just OK.

Good pizza and you can build your own. Wood fired and they give you kitchen shears to cut your pizza so it doesn't get soggy! They also have beer on tap from craft breweries including from BCBB. There is also a bar where you can sit and watch sports and an outdoor patio. Also love the hydroponic herbs, etc that they grow using their fish tanks. Mangia!

We love Pompieri! The atmosphere is very unique, and the pizza is fantastic. I love the wood fire singed edges. Our 1 year old had a great time in the little kiddie corner with all the fire trucks and books, what a perfect idea to keep little ones busy. The girl behind the counter was super funny and kind, we felt very welcome. We will definitely be back here every time we travel through!

Finally made it! Been on my list a while and it was a good place for the niece and I to go before the DPAC show. We ordered the brussel sprouts, Malfatti Dumplings and Drunken Horse pizza. When the brussel sprouts came we thought we were getting Brussels and Fennel Gratin, but got a salad instead. Menu isn't updated on the site. Everything was still delicious, but I would still live to sample the Brussels and Fennel Gratin. The atmosphere is good and they have both indoor and outdoor seating. Didn't get to try the housemate Gelato so I'll have to go back.
