the only food that’s almost made me cuss in front of my husband it’s so good — owned by our friends, but un-biasedly good, and the mom did all the graphic design and branding <3 (order the chicken fingers and get both the white and brown sauce)

Nice tasting, expensive counter service food. I had the "basic salad" on the menu with 4 tofu pieces, which cost me $14 total after giving a $1 tip. (This is another in the long line of places that wants tips from you for a McD experience, meaning customers place order at counter and serve themselves drinks from machine, yet these folks want 20% tips on screen like they're waiting on you). The amount in the bowl is a medium amount for what you get. Tasty food. I enjoyed the cilantro walnut dressing.

I walk into Ponko and I see COMMITMENT. Christmas decorations are on point. Transparency about frying oils. Fully stocked bar. They aren’t even angry when you show up 30 minutes before close.

First time coming here and food was good, the fries are amazing! And very aesthetically pleasing The hot sauce is very good on the fries Green beans are good and the chicken sandwich was good also

Had the 3 tacos with tofu and fries. So filling I could only eat one. Soft tortilla with well balanced flavors. Fries were hot and salted perfectly. Place was clean and staff was very friendly. Highly recommend

I came on a Monday evening with a friend, not crowded at all. Jake was incredibly helpful with some changes to our food order and getting things around the restaurant. Chicken was juicy and fries were very crispy and delicious! Highly recommend!

I ordered a salad for pickup. Upon opening the bag, I thought to myself whoa that’s A LOT of wonton strips. Basically could not see the salad underneath. Because of the sheer overload of wonton stips, I began to pick 3/4 of it off because it defeats the purpose of ordering a salad to eat a bunch of fried carbs. As I was picking them off, I came across a stem piece of romaine that was clearly old because it had gone pinkish/red. And then I work my way through the salad, only to continue finding piece after piece of rotten stems. To be completely honest, this isn’t the first time this has happened with this place but it was never this egregious. When I made it through the whole salad, I found a rotten piece of straight up core and a disk shaped nub of a carrot. Mind you, the carrot comes shredded in this salad. Look at the pictures. This “salad” was equal parts rotten stem pieces to fried wonton strips. Sad because I order from here pretty much every week. Lettuce isn’t meat. It’s fairly inexpensive and doesn’t require cooking. Don’t pre chop your salad veg if you’re not going to throw it away daily.

I paid $20 for these sized tenders. PLUS an additional $2 PER SAUCE. When did ponko start charging for these sauces? $.75 would be the max. But you should at least get one of each free with a purchase. Minimum. It also took over 30 mins to get the order. And it wasn’t even during a lunch rush. The gal at the front said they were short staffed so I understand that that could cause a delay but for the tenders to come out child sized and to pay $4 for sauce that should be free with your purchase is a low blow. Ponko has fantastic chicken, but NOT at this cost, size nor the additional charges for the sauce.

Great atmosphere to have meal. Cozy place and helpful staff.

Yelp
I don't even know where to begin with my review...this place was exceptional from the service, cleanliness, quantity of seating, bar options, and the FOOD. My only "negative" is that I got the spicy and didn't get much spice from it but I understand everyone's level of rating is different. Nonetheless the flavor was still phenomenal. Also they don't charge extra for their house made ranch which is one of the best out there in terms of consistency and flavor. Their fries were extremely well seasoned and flavorful and there's plenty of them. Overall I would highly recommend making a visit.

Harlee S.

Yelp
First ones in for lunch so it was a bit quiet. The staff seemed like they were still getting things ready for the lunch rush. Food is good, if a little odd. I feel like some of the items are a little off the wall and don't really go together. The chicken is really good though! Great, big portions.

Yelp
I come to this location quite frequently. Usually I'll take it and go. I came in for a quick bite the other day. I ordered my usual plate with spicy tenders, rice and green beans and my peach almond tea. It was midday, not too busy, It wasn't loud, there wasn't many people inside nor a lot of people waiting but it was definitely in disarray. Almost every table was either dirty (food crumbs, debris) or there was trash/dishes still there. I got some napkins to spot clean a table because leaving wasn't an option because I was hungry. I told them the cashier about it and he said okay so I left it alone. Even while waiting for my food, I'm used to seeing more than one person coming out and checking to see if the tables are clean. Finally my food was brought out but even then, they did remove the dishes that were sitting but not fully clean the tables as expected. Nobody came to wipe off the tables until I left which was about 30 minutes after arrival. I hope this isn't the new standard but to really enjoy the space of dining in, a clean table is appreciated.

Yelp
This has to be one of my favorite chicken spots to go to. The chicken is always battered nicely and the crisp is very satisfying. The fries itself are always a hit except when it's a little soaked in the sauce, but that's okay! The staff are very nice and saying that they'll pick up the dishes for you and the environment is so nicely decorated. There's a cool bar. The restrooms are downstairs and hidden away overall the atmosphere is just very comforting with nice lighting.

Rhonda D.

Yelp
The chicken is so good! Plus the sides are tasty too! Just wish they were in more areas.

Dymond F.

Yelp
Went here for lunch with some friends and this spot didn't disappoint. The chicken tenders was fresh and flavorful, especially with the OG sauce. The fries were so good with ranch. The fried pickles were so good also. The customer service was on point also. The pricing was reasonable and it's plenty of parking in the lot. It wasn't packed when we first got there but when we started to eat it got pretty packed. I would definitely return to this spot.

Yelp
This place is really nice. Great service. Makes sense, as it's the flagship location and corporate office in one place. The service is great, but I have been here twice now and I like the taste of the food it's different, but the food needs to be hot. The first time I went, I had to send the food back because the food was cold. 2nd time, same thing. I just ate it, couldn't be bothered. They tried to tell me the SAUCE made it cold. Really? The sauce that was put on 30secs ago then directly handed to me made hot chicken cold? No. I think they have the chicken sitting there, which the guy all but confirmed saying they have a policy on food coming out fast. Listen, I will wait for hot food. I hate cold food that is meant to be hot. This place is a prime example of that. It would taste way better. When I did have my food remade the first visit, fries and chicken tacos, you could taste the difference of a freshly fried tender to the initial tacos they gave that were cold with cold fries. Patrons are really in there eating cool food. They dress it up really nice and the flavor is different but they are serving cold food. I don't like that, and this place is not cheap. I averaged $25-$27 both visits for a meal, and drink. Nuts!

Yelp
Tacos are fire. Looking forward to working my way through the rest of the menu! Of course that would mean I have to order something other than the tacos...so...that will be a challenge (because I crave them).

Joycelyn K.

Yelp
My wife and I had an amazing lunch date at Ponko. The cashier was knowledgeable of the menu and helped us pick the best meal as first timers... The star of the show was definitely the chicken. It was perfectly crispy, even though it was dipped in sauce - we were both so impressed! The food itself was delicious, and the atmosphere was perfect for a cute mid-day date. The restaurant is adorable, and the 90s music playing in the background was a fun touch. We'll definitely be back for more soon!

Nicole D.

Yelp
I've been eating Ponko chicken since the original location in Stone Mountain and was soooooo sad when they closed and now that they have reopened and added so many new locations I'm so excited to see them back! I love love love this place! The food Is always amazing. The customer service is great and the place is always so clean! If you haven't been here, you will NOT be disappointed! I will definitely return time after time!! Keep up the good work

Lanell G.

Yelp
The food is tasty. The cashier was nice and helpful. Nice and quiet. I would definitely come here again.

Bonnie H.

Yelp
Food was fine, service though was bad, The cashier charged me for an extra drink and didn't want to fix it. The restrooms are in the basement so if you're handy capable you should come here, I had to walk down two flights to use the restroom and when I did make it to the restroom there was no toilet paper at all. They need to get a double roll system or train their staff to check to see if the rolls almost out and replace it before it runs out. I was stuck in their basement cave of a restroom for 15 minutes, calling for help both on my phone and out loud but no one could hear me plus they don't have free WiFi so there is no way of calling out of their dungeon of a bathroom. I can't give it 0/5 stars so went with the 1/5 please fix this and be better!

Yelp
This is my second time to PONKO. After the first time I had PONKO I was craving it and decided to get the chicken plate with three pieces and two sides. I got the OG flavor and my boyfriend got the Spicy. The chicken was the right amount of crisp and the rice was very flavorful. I paired it with the Jalapeño crema sauce to dip the chicken in. The spicy chicken however wasn't really spicy and I would've liked the chicken to have more sauce to add to the flavor. The service is fast and will definitely come back the next time I visit ATL.

Anee J.

Yelp
Great customer service! Cashier was very informative and friendly! I ordered chicken strips and fries and they were delicious! The environment was clean and cute. I will most definitely come back and refer people.

Samavi A.

Yelp
The last few times I've been here I've ordered for pick up and the service had been slower then before even though it was a quiet empty afternoon. The food has been descent although the fried tenders are a bit too salty. I did enjoy the grilled chicken with the sauce on the side.

Clay D.

Yelp
I tried PONKO Chicken at Chamblee Tucker for the first time today. I ordered the taco meal with spicy chicken, for my side I ordered the sweet potato fries, everything was delicious, next visit, I look forward to trying some of the other menu items.

Ray F.

Yelp
I loved the service and the friendliness of the staff. The restaurant space was open. There's was space to sit outside as well. The food was not my cup of tea. I ordered a variety to menu items to try. Mixed veggies, slaw, potato salad, fries, tofu tenders, vegan patty and red velvet cake cup. I enjoyed the fries and the red velvet cake the most. The others items did not say satisfy my taste buds.

Joseph J.

Yelp
I have to give another shout out to Ponko Chicken again. Just picked up 3 orders for my office... 15 different meals... I got the chicken tacos... AMAZING! May be the best I've had in Atlanta. Potato salad... no words. Big shout out to LESLIE again for taking the time to help me label the individual entrees. Friendly and "on-it"! Great, clean, friendly and food the pallet will love. HIGHKY RECOMMEND!

Jacklyn K.

Yelp
I really liked my to-go lunch from PONKO! The tofu tenders were reallly good, love the spicy batter. The brown rice side with sauce was all delicious. Potato salad was also pretty good but not as memorable. I didn't love the island veggie mix. Will definitely order lunch here again. Good option to mix up the lunch rotation with an Asian fusion flavor. I will also say the to-go containers are paper which yayyy for the planet but logistically were a nightmare- things were spilling out and boxes flimsy as we carried them into the office.

Lisa M.

Yelp
I've heard good things & been wanting to try it. This was a mixed bag for me. I'll say most of the food was 3 stars, everything else was 1 or 2 stars. First off, i see that 3 months ago someone commented on how slippery the floors are....and i see that the owner said it had been corrected. I'm sorry but no. The slippery floors were the first thing we noticed when walking to our table & to the bathroom, You have to shuffle your feet or end up flat on your behind. This place is a slip & fall accident waiting to happen. Placing our order was a pain....i repeated each items multiple times & still managed to receive a wrong order. I ordered 1 taco, fries, a hot dog with fries, a salad with chicken & a 2 piece chicken meal with 4 fountain drinks....with tip it was a $74 fast casual lunch. You don't get an itemized receipt & i wasn't about to go back and try to figure this out with the completely unhelpful staff. i realize it is hard everywhere to find help & i give grace, but it is frustrating. Now the food was tasty...except the grilled teriyaki chicken on the salad....it tasted old & was chewy, The chicken taco, the hot dog & sweet potato fries were quite good. Unfortunately, it was not good enough that I'd go back.

Sharae H.

Yelp
I absolutely love the Ponko tacos (original) and the island veggies!!! The desserts are yummy too!

Kay F.

Yelp
Only fried food! NOT handicapped accessible - Restrooms are on the bottom floor with no elevators. Food was ok, but everything is fried. Heart attack waiting to happen!

Farzana Z.

Yelp
How about some Asian Fusion with a touch of American for lunch today? Ponko Chicken is very popular around Chamblee Tucker and Doraville area. There is barely any space if you want to go during the lunch time, but guess what? Food is reasonable and quick. They don't take too long to serve you and you can choose from their set menus where you get 3/6 chicken tenders with whichever sauces you like and 2 delicious sides. My recommendation will be the ponko fries and the salad for the sides. Don't forget to ask for their ranch because it tastes very different from other restaurants. The picture here is showing a side salad, ponko fries and 3 counts of chicken tenders. I requested for plain tenders and the sauces on the side. That way, I was able to taste their teriyaki, sesame and spicy sauce. . . . #atlanta_diaries #yelpatlanta

Yelp
Well, we went to the one in Buckhead a couple years ago, so we thought let's go again since it was pretty good. Nope! We had all gone rock climbing, and figured we needed some fuel afterwards. We had passed this place on the way there, so we had told our friend it was a good spot. Never mind. I know places are challenged right now, but the wait was ridiculous. Secondly, the food was terrible. The chicken was rubbery like it'd been thawed and then nuked in the microwave, not to mention the paltry portion that was served. The teriyaki sauce tasted watered down, and the rice which is cheap, was filling half the bowl. It looked like a kid's meal. We all left hungry. I was so disappointed, as we all were, and for the two of us, those tiny bowls were $30. What a joke. I will never step foot in this place again. Do yourselves a favor, and keep driving. Plenty of other options around.

Talya C.

Yelp
I had the ponko chicken tacos. They were awesome! I would say the chicken could give Chik Fil A and Zaxby's a run for their money for sure! Looking forward to coming back again and trying their other menu items. Great service as well!

Jim J.

Yelp
It was good. It wasn't amazing though. I don't mean to sound pretentious...it's just this is chicken....and this is Atlanta. Go tenders and concentrate on sides is my rec!

Creole Q.

Yelp
I ordered fried tofu with sweet potatoes fries and I received regular fries. Although it was corrected by giving me the sweet potatoes fries they were cold. I asked for my receipt and plus I tipped but never received it. Standard food and service. Decor was nice. Not sure if I will give it another chance. Overall it's okay.

Kathryn L.

Yelp
Modern eatery with a bar specializing in Fried Chicken Strips with Japanese fusion on various salads & sandwiches. To my foodie surprise, there's a Vegan/Veggie effort with a few proteins, sides & sauces. Their signature OG Sauce reminds me of less saltyTeriyaki sauce. I ordered the Veggie Patty & my ManBaby got the 'Create Your Plate' with Japanese style Chicken Tenders. We both were satisfied with our meals. The side of Sweet Potato Fries is actually a huge bowl topped with your choice of protein. With the menu offering various options like Hot Dogs, Tacos, Potato Salad, Green Beans (V) Desserts & Tofu, everyone can find something per their preference. Chicken can also be prepared grilled. Our meal came to $21 which was perfect for the pockets & with prompt/friendly service to our table, we agreed it was a good experience. A clean establishment with Restrooms located downstairs. I'll definitely try the Midtown location next time I'm in Atlanta.

Yelp
Once you try PONKO's, there's no going back. As a vegetarian, it might seem odd going to PONKO chicken but they have some of the best tofu! I tried the PONKO plate with the tofu tenders in OG sauce (must try) with their fries and rice! Everything is bursting of flavor and is cooked really well. I would have to say my favorite is the tacos. You can customize the tacos any way you like! I got 2 tofu tenders in OG sauce and 1 in the spicy sauce. I got it with coleslaw on top and it was absolutely phenomenal. I can't even begin to explain how tasty these tacos were and how filling they are. The prices were good and the workers were very pleasant. 10/10 I love this place.

Mands S.

Yelp
Quick and delicious. Feels a little "healthier" than other fast food. Tried most of the menu and haven't been disappointed. They're generous with the sauces.

Jay B.

Yelp
Checked this location out as heard good things about this spot and was in town on business. Pretty nice and relatively healthy menu from chicken to tofu and vegan options. Tried a salad one day with spicy tofu and a plate day before...food all reasonably priced and portions really liberal. Ate there 2 days and could never finish my food. Taste wise, really good food and good value for price. Would most definitely recommend if in area and looking for a health food option. Staff were friendly and they had inside and outside dining options. Give em a try!

KA M.

Yelp
I think three chicken tenders and a scoop of rice for $12 before tax is expensive for what it is but it's still great food.

Kevin H.

Yelp
I like this place but they have implemented a dumb policy. You cannot place a takeout order past 8:30 pm now. Even if you call at 8:29. I thought it was weird when I called, they just answered and hung up . Normally I would never call twice but these ppl are reliable for a quick takeout order. But I will not eat here anymore, the cashier on the phone sounded clueless .

Lucas M.

Yelp
The food is awesome and the customer service is so good. The food is crispy and juicy, the chicken is crispy and has a nice texture when you bite down. They have a nice selection of sieves for the chicken and the fries are the perfect amount of crispy and potatoness. The rice is nice and good but sometimes it can be under cooked and that's really my only problem. The workers check in on you from time to time and they are so nice. I always go with my friends becuase the environment is so chill and the vibes are laid back. I went my friends and they forgot their money but then the workers came with a whole free entree because they had an extra.

Cindy T.

Yelp
Pretty, darn good casual Japanese fried chicken joint. The decor is industrial and there's even a bar! You order at the counter and they bring it out to your table. Everything here kind of reminds me of Tin Drum. It's like a hip-fusion Asian atmosphere. I ended up getting the lighter portion of the salad bowl with the classic Ponko chicken which ended up being plenty of food for me. No leftovers though. Chicken was well seasoned and juicy. Salad was fresh enough. Definitely could have used more toppings to make it more interesting like tomatoes, cucumbers, avocado, etc. My lunch partner also enjoyed his rice bowl with the Ponko chicken. Would recommend for anyone in the area who's looking for a quick meal and craving some lightly fried chicken tenders.

Lupe O.

Yelp
Great food! Delicious with both rice and fries but fries are so gooood! Service was good.

Addy C.

Yelp
I love getting their Basic Salad with PONKO or Island chicken, and their Walnut Cilantro dressing ... I really need to buy a bottle of that and yes, they sell bottles! Yummm. The salad is $7 and it's a decent size too - and by the way if you order the salad "to go", it'll look small in the Chinese take-out box but trust me, they've compressed a lot of salad in that little container. At my last visit, i decided to try the "Island" chicken which is really Jerk chicken - whoa even more tasty than Ponko! My friends still prefer the Ponko but I'm a big fan of the Jerk. Oh and I love their space too, their light fixtures, even the order number blocks. Their sides are good - fries, sweet potato fries, potato salad. Not a fan of their Miso Sesame Green Beans though ($5) ... menu description was enticing but taste was super bland. Maybe tempura or fried would help? Next time I'd like to try their popsicles. FYI the servers will remove your trays after you're done :)

Yelp
Chicken fingers have been one of my favorite comfort foods ever since I can remember. I had an opportunity to try the original chicken fingers at a Yelp event recently and was really impressed. They're located on Chamblee Tucker Rd. Near some office buildings. They have a spacious, free parking lot. I was greeted upon my entrance. There were a few people ahead of me, but the line moved quickly. I placed an order for the 5 piece chicken tender plate that comes with 2 sides and pickles. I split the tenders between the ponko and spicy sauces. I got the sticky rice and ponko fries for sides. The total came to around $11 without a drink and the serving size was generous. The chicken tenders were absolutely scrumptious! The spicy sauce wasn't too spicy and had a nice flavor. The ponko sauce is light and sweet. The fries were delicious and I enjoyed the sticky rice. The pickles are a great addition to the entree. This is a great casual restaurant. They also serve wine, beer and dessert. I'm looking forward to returning to try more of the menu.

Brittney C.

Yelp
Omg. Wow! I am currently pregnant and my taste buds have been on the super critical side but let me just say: the meal I had was full of flavor! I did not actually eat in. I had the opportunity to utilize our Fooda option at work and my oh my it was so good! I had the basic PONKO meal option which allowed me to have their famous sticky rice and breaded chicken. I also ordered the potato salad and all was just wonderful. I have nothing else to say but that it played on my tastebuds this afternoon! If you are looking for Asian twist and need something yummy. Check them out! Plan to go to the actual location and see if the service is the same.

Brandon P.

Yelp
This is a usual in our food delivery options for weekends with friends. I'm a fan of fried chicken in general and Ponko is a nice twist on the category. Fried food is usually a tough order but the fries and chicken all heat up easily in the oven for a quick crisp. I'm a fan of the 5 piece tender with sides. The fries have a nice crisp to them (I prefer them over the sweet potato fries). The ponko rice is a nice add for a side as well, has a bit of sweetness on the sauce they have on it. Two other small nice touches would be their pickles are light and thin. And the big win is the ranch! It's a little watery than usual but has a great flavor and add to the chicken. Spice was I couldn't tell much difference between the spicy and Og flavor.

Tiff H.

Yelp
My first time trying Ponko Chicken was at a Yelp event when it first opened. I didn't have it again until 9 months later when I finally entered the restaurant itself. I've been twice and now and you can't deny the consistency in the cook of the chicken. The location is a bit odd, since it doesn't seem to be close to anything I ever frequent. I've ordered the original chicken tenders, which comes with three large marinated chicken tenders and rice, as well as a side. I got the miso sesame green beans, which were tasty, although not the most insta-worthy. The flavor ooriginal sauce is good but I prefer the chicken not so soaked in marinate. I also decided to go the lighter route for lunch and tried the basic salad meal, which comes with 3 piece tenders chopped up with greens and Wontons. I prefer the spicy marinade the most - not too spicy but just enough kick to make it interesting. I've also tried the Ponko Fries which are fried and seasoned beautifully. The chicken at Ponko is always perfectly cooked, never dry and always very tender and a little juicy. Definitely worth a try to visit the two time Taste of Atlanta winner!

Hannah W.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came to PONKO around 3pm on a Sunday to get a quick bite. We ordered the chicken tenders with BBQ and original sauces with 2 extra tenders. For sides, we got the sweet potato fries and the seasonal special, which was green beans with fried onions and sesame sauce. Our food took a bit of time, probably because it wasn't during peak dining hours so there were fewer kitchen staff. I enjoyed the chicken tenders, it was crispy and the sauces were flavorful. I recommend getting rice as a side because they drizzle a decent amount of sauce on the tenders. The sweet potato fries were good, but the green beans were just OK. The green beans side was covered in fried onions and the sauce just tasted like a salty sesame paste. Food aside, the restaurant has a nice modern look with a neighborhood bar feel. They have interesting drink selections and have specials (e.g. taco Tuesdays and dawg day). This would be a cool place to hangout on a weekend or weekday evening if you lived in the area.

Nicholas L.

Yelp
Food was good but... We ate inside and the place was a meme. The floors were a slimy type of slippery. Not a normal "just washed floors" slippery. As if they had coated the floors with a thin layer of sauce. Any hastey movement and I'ma be on my ass . We also waited like 35-45 minutes for our food. We had two orders of tenders/fries, no special requests and it took forever.

Kelsie L.

Yelp
Always super friendly. Chicken tacos are amazing. Found this place and ate here for the first time a few weeks ago and can't stop coming here on lunch breaks.

Lori A.

Yelp
food is fantastic!! I love the chicken, fries, pickles, and more. The little desserts are great too!

Yelp
When I was in high school we went to Ponko before our Homecoming Dance. No joke. Around the time of our graduation the old Stone Mountain Ponko location shut down. I went to college and eventually left Georgia. Every now and then social media would alert me to Ponko pop-ups around Atlanta. I would envy my friends as they had the amazing taste of poncho fried chicken infused with high school nostalgia. Then it finally happened- Ponko returned. I go out of my way to visit the new Ponko location. It is somehow even better than I remembered from my high school days. The new store is way trendier as well! I am dying to come here for a happy hour experience, however I typically can only squeeze in my visits on the way back home to Virginia after a visit home to see family. My go to order is both the original and spicy chicken tenders, rice, and ponko fries. So delicious, salty, crispy, chicken heaven. Until Ponko expands outside of Atlanta I will continue to make every effort to get my Ponko-fix when I visit!

Kristy T.

Yelp
This place looked different than before. New booths for dine-in. We got a spicy Vegan plate with potato salad and ponko fries, and a spicy Chicken sandwich with green beans and Ponko fries. I forgot the total. The spicy Vegan patty was not even spicy - more sweet. It was veggies mixed together and fried (7/10). I thought it came with rice as it was a little overseasoned for me. The spicy Chicken sandwich was not spicy but still tasty (9/10). The potato salad was my least favorite- tasted weird (4/10). The green beans were good (7/10). The Ponko fries were the best - crunchy (not too oily) and well-seasoned (100/10). Must try them with the ranch sauce.

Yelp
I have been a fan of Ponko chicken since they had their Stone Mountain location. Everything here is good, and although the value for the money is not quite perfect, It doesn't prevent me from visiting when I'm in the neighborhood and need a nice change of pace. I recommend any of the chicken flavors and the side salad with walnut vinaigrette as one of your side items. I awarded four out of five stars because the Food was better at their old location. But they still rank high on my list.
