Creamy, fresh, delicious and everything you could ever want from a Hawaiian dessert. We had the lillikoi and mango flavors with the former being my favorite! John, the owner is fantastic and incredibly friendly as are his staff. Truly a fantastic local place.

Google
Yum! These are so tasty. Surprising coconut crust. The lilikoi is tart!

Google
Used to be one of our favorites but portions have shrank so container is half empty. And the the crust is no longer a nice compressed crust it was fluffy and not dense. Guess it makes product look bigger than 1/2 empty.

I haven't visited their actual location yet but had one of their pies at Duke's Beach House in Kaanapali and found the chocolate Pono Pie at the Farmers Market in Kaanapali. So fricking good. I ate the chocolate one for breakfast this morning, went really well with my coffee😂 If you see these in any local shops or have the chance to visit this location, do it. You won't be disappointed!!!

Google
Gluten-free & dairy-free chocolate pono pie is my favorite dessert on the planet! I was so pleased to find out it can also be shipped to the mainland. My order of 4 fresh pies arrived in the middle of Montana, chilled, in record time and in great condition. With shipping it was expensive, but we’ll worth every molecule. Mr. Cadman said these pies freeze well. I wrapped 3 of them in Saran Wrap, then in aluminum foil and placed each in a ziplock bag.

Kept hearing about this on MANAO Radio and finally got my first at Whole Foods. The Maui Coffee & Chocolate is delicious! I'll be trying the Liliquoi next.

Google
Was skeptical as breadfruit can be really starchy. Wow, this was good! I purchased the passion fruit version from Maui’s Farmers Market in Napili.

Google
I was gifted the chocolate and the lillikoi pie. They were both fresh and delicious. I have a new favorite!

Yelp
What a treat! Got this at Duke's in Kaanapali and went island hunting for more. My wife is lactose intolerant and could not have been happier to finally have a delicious dessert to enjoy. I loved it too as it has a cheesecake kind of vibe and a variety of flavors. Tried to get it at Whole Foods but they were out of stock. Luckily they were at a breadfruit festival in town.

Yelp
I haven't been to this place on Wakea yet, but I love their creamy delicious pies. Just right chocolate and tart lilikoi are both faves plus we tried the ulu hummus and it slaps! So happy I can order them though Maui Hub

Yelp
It's not often you find the perfect dessert...but a Pono Pie is certainly a contender. Made of all local Hawaiian ingredients and without added sugar (just a touch of honey), these not-too-sweet, mostly-made-of-breadfruit desserts are the light sweet treat that leave you feeling happy and energized, without a sugar crash. They're free of dairy, gluten, and added refined sugar. I ordered mine through a farm share box (FarmLink, so great) for $7 each for the personal sized pies, but I hear you can get them at Whole Foods too. I had the sweet potato / coconut flavor and the coffee / chocolate, two perfect combos. Hard to choose which one was better as they were both just excellent. They were reminded me of a mousse crossed with a Japanese cheesecake...light, slightly sweet, earthy, creamy, cool, and delicious. The textural contrast of the filling with the mac/almond/coconut crust was so nice, too. Will definitely be a lifelong customer and order them as treats for out of town visitors! They are worth every penny and you are supporting a local small business.

Yelp
Literally just ate my first Pono Pie and had to jump on Yelp to add yet another 5 star to their worthy ratings! While there's an address listed on Yelp, Pono Pies delivers to and sells their delicious breadfruit and locally sourced Hawaiian pies at Maui's one and only Whole Foods... so don't go driving looking for their factory because they don't sell it there! Each pie is $6 at Whole Foods and to me, totally worth it! There were sweet potato with haupia, mango, lilikoi (a.k.a. passionfruit), and coffee with chocolate flavors to choose from at the open refrigerated section near the checkout counters up front. Each pie has a breadfruit based filling layer which is super smooth and creamy, refreshing, and less heavy than cheesecake. The purple sweet potato and haupia tastes like coconut milk with just a hint of sweet potato, yum-- and it's the faint purple hue is so pretty! I like how it was sweet but not overwhelmingly so (and there how I justify eating it for breakfast haha). The crust is primarily coconut shreds and crumbly, so definitely use a spoon to enjoy this one :) Love how the ingredients are simple, natural, and even locally sourced. I would totally buy this at least once a week if I lived here-- gotta cram as many Pono Pies in as I can while I'm here :D Can't wait to dive into the other flavors!

Yelp
Saw the reviews on Yelp and stopped by their commercial warehouse to pick up some fresh pies. It is a must try for everyone. I love that it is dairy free. Ingredients are simple with fruit and they simply melt in your mouth. It's is so delicious as you feel the fruity flavors literally melt in your mouth and the macadamia crust's nutty texture mixed with the fruity filling. Reminds me Lindt's chocolate truffle.

Yelp
John the owner answered on first ring, I needed to order some pies for an event I was hosting, not only was he accommodating, he delivered and made the party! The pies were amazing, and everyone loved them. I ordered the Chocolate and the Liliuokoi (spelling?) We will be ordering again and again and will try all the varieties. There was none left to take home as they were gone in a flash. I was able to cut smaller slices and got about 15-20 slices out of each pie. I added whipped cream and chocolate drizzle to the chocolate pie and just whipped cream to the other. Thanks John! Amazing find

Yelp
We were looking for bread fruit pie and stumbled upon their kitchen instead! They were incredibly kind and let us buy from them there. They even gave us a little tour of their facility and told us a bit more about the breadfruit too. The pies we got were so good I wish we got more! This was our last stop before flying back home and I'm glad we made the time to. Mahalo!

Yelp
I've been looking for a great dessert here on Maui. So many fall short - too sweet, too big, greasy, not unique to the island. I was in the neighborhood buying fish and saw Pono Pies listed around the corner. While it is a bit industrial looking in the area - this IS where they make these pies - in a small space tucked away - they DO sell pies to the public so ring the bell and go in! $5 each for a personal size, cash only, and they are divine! We tried 3 types and they are amazing. 70% local ingredients and served in compostable containers - it's a win-win. A must if you are craving a sweet with aloha spirit of this island!!

Yelp
My husband and I are all about trying unique local foods. Pono Pies satisfied that unique dessert craving, and was an unexpected amazing experience! To preface - we drove up, and literally had no clue where this place was. We knocked on the back of an industrial door, and was greeted by the most kind woman. She brought out four Pono Pie flavors. They all sounded amazing. Since we couldn't decide, we purchased 3 - chocolate, banana coconut, and sweet potato and haupia. And wow- they were all just amazing. Highly recommend picking up some Pono Pies if you're looking for a unique, tasty treat!

Yelp
With a name like "Pono Pies" you'd expect it to be good, right? Pono means : "goodness, morality, doing what is right" so add that to a dessert and it just makes sense that it would be awesomesauce. Well, IT IS. These pies are so stinking delicious--AND--healthy. Holla. Desserts that I can eat and not feel guilty about? *Gluten free. *Dairy free. *GMO free. Sign. Me. Up. I've had a few different flavors, but Maui coffee and chocolate takes the cake--err--pie. Who woulda thought breadfruit could taste so delicious? I can't wait to taste the Molokai sweet potato and haupia... I bet it's awesome! John the owner and master creator is so incredibly kind as well. They are a little pricy--but that being said, they are so unbelievably tasty that you won't even care. If you're looking for something sweet to satisfy, but not crazy about adding all the calories, this treat is for you. I've seen them for sale at Down to Earth as well.

Yelp
First note: DAMN, these are good pies! Second note: this is not a classic storefront, it's a kitchen tucked within a small industrial plaza. Third note: Go find the address, and buy as many of these yummy pies as you can carry! I am lactose intolerant. This lovely woman's products are a blessing to people like me. The COCONUT one is just DEEEELICIOUS, can't wait to recommend them to my friends in Maui.

Yelp
If you're living a lifestyle of healthy eating, by choice (weight loss) or medically necessary (candida, diabetes, etc,), it's hard to find ANY dessert to satisfy your sweet tooth (gluten, dairy, & sugar free?! Good luck other than complex recipies from bloggers. IT'S YOUR LUCKY DAY! We stumbled on the almighty PONO PIE at a restaurant in Maui last year, and ended up having them every day. On the way off the island, we bought some at Whole Foods to satisfy the addiction. We even looked up the business location and stopped by and met one of the workers who was making the pies! After making it back to the mainland, i was trying to figure out how to convince the owner to ship me some and fortunately they've started shipping to the mainland! You can get a 20 pack of the single serving pies shipped on ice to your front door. Halleluia and Mahalo!!!!

Yelp
:( appreciate that it's organic and used locally sourced ingredients. I got the purple potato flavor and me and my husband thought it was SUCH a disappointment! $8 at down to earth and I wish I spent my money elsewhere.

Hannah L.

Yelp
Wow! Pono Pies is so so good! Saw all the five star reviews on Yelp and had to try it out. We stopped by their little "factory" before going to the airport and were so glad we did! We had the Lilikoi pie and it was better than any other dessert we had at Maui. The crust is nice and nutty and the filling is creamy and just perfectly sweet. It is amazing that their ingredients are also natural and healthy. Next time we're in Maui, we'd definitely get this again.

Yelp
These pies are a dream, specifically the Lilikoi. I love all things passion fruit and I'm on a restricted diet to help myself heal from a long-term medical condition... no gluten, no soy, no corn, no dairy, no preservatives, and I'm mostly vegan to begin with. Now, imagine trying to find a dessert that fits with those restrictions! I happened upon these pies in a little hotel market because the conference I was attending had nothing to meet my breakfast needs and this little pie blew my mind. Because the ingredients are so clean, you can eat this at all hours of the day without regret. Whoever wrote that they're "bitter" clearly can't appreciate the tropical tartness of lilikoi and was way off base. I wouldn't change a thing. I want to ship them to California or push to have them sold at Whole Foods. They're so AMAZING . Oh, aaaaaaaaaaand they're sold in compostable containers.

Yelp
Tried several of their pies from down to earth. Omgosh amazing and bursting with flavor. Favorite is lilikoi. Really really good.

Yelp
We stayed in Maui for 8 days and even though we smacked all week long, this tiny shop stood out as the best food we had all trip long. The pies are packed full of flavor and don't get oily/gross at all. The mango and sweet potato pies are the most interesting of the bunch and we highly recommend those. The breadfruit crust at the bottom is light and coconutty, and tastes way better than a buttery crust you typically get in a pie. It's a bummer we can't find these anywhere outside Maui!

Yelp
Life is better because of Pono Pies. They are so good that I picked up a ton of them before I travelled home to the mainland. I am DF, GF and a picky eater. If you are health conscious AND have a sweet tooth you MUST try these divine pies!
google avatar

Hilary A.

Yelp
I LOVE Pono Pies. They are truly guilt-free. They are gluten-free, dairy-free and free of refined sugars. I had the Lilikoi pie at Leilani's in Ka'anapali and was hooked! I hunted down their warehouse in Kahului near the airport only to find that it is just that, a warehouse. I called the listed number and was directed to Whole Foods where they had their delicious pies nicely displayed right up front in a refrigerated case. Not only did they have the Lilikoi flavor but they had several other flavors. I tried the chocolate and was even more in love! Guilt free & amazing
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! Hard to locate but well worth the search. If your looking for healthy alternatives to sweets, this is a sure winner! Love, love, love!

Yelp
These pies are so decadent you won't even know you're eating something healthy. They are my favorite "go to" dessert. Highly recommend any flavor!

Yelp
8 days on Maui -- at least 10 Pono pies later, I am a mega fan. As I am writing this, I am eating my way through a full size pie which I bought frozen at Hawaiian moons natural foods in Kihei. ALL flavors are amazing. Start with Iilikoi. Then try chocolate. Then the mojito...and many more flavors! You can't go wrong. All natural ingredients. No flour. No gluten. No sugar. 100% awesome though. Pono pie people: let us know if you need sales reps in the Bay Area. We're up for the job! mahalo for sweetening our trip!
google avatar

Shai C.

Yelp
OMG!!! I am no vegan and love me a good dessert so i was highly skeptical about a breadfruit pie but i am now a believer! so rich and absolutely delicious! you won't even realize that you're eating a dairy free pie because it tastes like a cross between a decadent mousse and a cheesecake. i can't wait to try all the other flavors!
google avatar

Joella S.

Yelp
Pono Pies are absolutely amazing. A healthy pie that taste delicious?!?!? YES!!!! Any time I see one I have to buy 2 They are perfect for breakfast, lunch or dinner. All locally sourced healthy ingredients make a guilt free product that satisfies all my sweet cravings. Not many products can do that!
google avatar

Nanea H.

Yelp
There are a couple great raw, healthy, vegan desserts and Pono Pies prove to be one of them. The two favors that I've tried- the Maui coffee and chocolate and the sweet potato and haupia- are both delicious. The chocolate and coffee pie's filling tastes like a thickener ice cream due to its lovely smooth texture. The sweet potato and haupia has to be my favorite though. The combination of the two flavors is genius. I would recommend trying it.
google avatar

Amanda R.

Yelp
This pie is incredibly delicious! It is hard to believe that there is no sugar or cream. Check them out at Wholefoods, at least you don't feel guilty eating a pie with breadfruit as the first ingredient.

Christina S.

Yelp
Such a delicious guilt free dessert! I'm eating the mango flavor as a write this and I still have the coffee chocolate and lilikoi in the freezer. The ingredients are so clean and the consistency is perfect. I love these pies and can't wait to order them online and have them shipped!
google avatar

Nikolas H.

Yelp
I called up Jon the day before thanksgiving wondering if he had any of his amazing, locally sourced pies. He came through last minute and even waited for me at his warehouse. He does not have a brick and mortar, rather a bay in the same warehouse that pizza paradise lives. I was able to scoop two pumpkin pies and both family parties were a hit! All the while supporting local small business growing our islands roots economy :)

Yelp
I was visiting Maui and found out about Pono Pies prior to me getting there. I wanted to try them for it being healthy and not having gluten, dairy or added sugar. They use all local ingredients. I wasn't expecting too much as "healthy" desserts don't always taste that great. Well I found my first 2 pies at Pukalani Superette. I purchased Lilikoi and Molokai Sweet Potato and Haupia. The Lilikoi was tart and bitter I wouldn't recommend, however the MSP and Haupia was amazing. Soooo ono. The texture was perfect with just enough sweetness from the natural honey. I then purchased the Mango which is also amazing and a few other flavors I froze and brought back. I found them at Whole Foods for $5.99. A restaurant in Kahului is selling them for $9 each. Total rip off. I'd highly recommend trying these amazing guilt free desserts, they are so good you might find yourself buying a stash like me. Totally worth it!

J S.

Yelp
Ordered assorted flavors of Pono Pies from Whole Foods to serve at a celebration. These were the most outstanding dessert everyone raved about the great taste. Favorite was the Mango Pono pie in addition to the Lilikoi pie. Thanks so much to the Owners for making a healthy dessert. Its so nice to be able to avoid GMO's containing Roundup aka glyphosate a neurotoxin residues which is in most conventional desserts. Eat organics and non-GMO's.
google avatar

Rob C.

Yelp
this is not really a store front, but where they make their healthy "pies." come for a vegan breadfruit dessert, almost like a thick mousse consistency, and uses honey for slight sweetening. the lillikoi is very tangy and nice, and liked it better than the sweet potato haupia which was heavy on the coconut.

L K.

Yelp
Such a wholesome, flavourful and healthy sweet treat- and they are GF for those of us who must eat that way. So far our favourite is with passion fruit!!
google avatar

Al D.

Yelp
We bought Pono Pies from the Whole Foods in Kahala on Oahu. Tried the lilikoi and the chocolate mocha. I liked the lilikoi the best of the two. The pie is excellent. Very satisfying. I love the coconut crust. The pies are a little pricey, $20 for a little round pie. But they're worth it.
google avatar

Kayla S.

Yelp
Got one from Hawaiian moons and am so happy! Mojito flavor was Devine! I'm hooked :) wish I knew the nutritional facts thou? I mean it's amazing that they are vegan non gmo and dairy free but dying to know the Cals!! Yum yum

Mike L.

Yelp
If you love a good desert treat and don't wanna feel awful after you eat it, try Pono pies! They are light on the stomach and rich in flavor.

Joe S.

Yelp
I bought two of these pies at Whole Foods - the Lilikoi and Sweet Potato Haupia. The packaging and ingredients looked very interesting. I am very familiar with (and really like) the taste of these ingredients but both of the pies tasted really bad. A small piece from each of these pies was enough for me the throw the remainder in the garbage. My only thought when eating these pies was "did they market test these products"? I had to drink water to get the awful lingering taste out of my mouth. Sorry Pono Pies - I always try to support local businesses but I think you need to reformulate.

Julie T.

Yelp
Supa delis...recommended by local n had to try since I luv luv luv breadfruit n u can't beat all the natural local ingredients!!! Creamy like lite cheese cake but not too sweet, had Maui coffee n chocolate and moloka'i sweet potato n haupia
