For context, I have been to Rome, Florence, Venice, and Milan. My partner and I have traveled around the world and eaten Italian food across the planet. My father lived in Rome growing up.
I also understand this place is popular with locals. I typically go out of my way to not overly-criticize and hurt the reputation of restaurants I review while travelling.
All that being said... This was some of the worst Italian food I have eaten. It was also one of the poorer "fine dining" experiences as well.
1) Almost every dish we had completely missed the mark. Out of the six courses we had, only two were genuinely good (one being the beef pasta, the other being the bonito + egg dish). The other four ranged from underwhelming to borderline inedible (the only one being this extreme was the squid pasta, which was extremely bitter for some reason).
2) Service was a mixed bag. Server was extremely kind and accommodating, but service was SLOW. This place had two other parties besides us, so there was, quite frankly, no excuse.
It's one thing to go to a restaurant and have one bad dish - it's another thing entirely when nearly every dish served is bad, while also being very expensive.
This is an aside, but I also felt an air of pretentiousness here and no real authenticity. I did not take that into account in this review, however.
