"Featuring stunning views over the eponymous valley, this aptly named former pub now operates more as a restaurant, with a lengthy refurbishment expanding its scope to include an orangery dining room and a cookery school. The menu uses the seasons as a guide and showcases produce from the kitchen garden in vibrant, colourful dishes which mix creative and a few traditional elements – look out for the 'Pony Garden Salad' that comes as an extra course at dinner. The midweek set menu offers great value for money." - Michelin Inspector

We had the most delicious Sunday lunch experience here, stunning views, fabulous service and the most tasty food. It is great to have you serving us again. We will be back!

Had a truly great experience at this restaurant last Friday, stunning building/style, you could see out to the beautiful rolling hills from our table and the food matched this, some really nice touches like aquaponic harvested asparagus and a lot of local herbs produce, the baked from the bread table was divine, also had probably the best cooked steak I can remember. Emma who looked after us, knew pretty much everything about all the food and where it came from and it’s story which was really cool to listen to.

What an incredible experience we had at The Pony. It was our first time visiting the pony after a friend's recommendation. 15th of Feb on the 6 course Valentine's menu and I'm still trying to think when I've ever had a better meal. Such a beautiful setting with really tasteful decor. But the food nearly made me emotional 😅 honestly it was amazing. I could go on and on, basic well done The Pony we can't wait to come back!!

There was only one good thing about this place. The ambience was absolutely lovely, and the renovation made the place feel very bright. The service was very positive, and although had to come back a few times for them to say we couldn't have certain things, this was one of the better parts of the experience. However, the food was a big let down. The chips were stale, the ham didn't really taste of ham, just a soft block of salt, and eggs were oily and hard. We had a cold pork chop that was more fat than pork. Clearly choosing a pork chop was the wrong decision for someone who doesn't like fat, but it was still a shock when cutting off the fat filled a plate bigger than the bowl of pork. It too was cold. The steak cooked well, but sadly was only warm. The bread was cold and chewy and although the flavour was good, it was ruined by one piece being burnt and tasting of oily char. The chowder starter was more like a tasting dish. It lacked depth, and just tasted like a sour cream and didn't taste of much. The fish in it was lovely, but there were so few pieces which was a bit unfortunate. Everything was a mixture of oily, stale, cold, or lacked depth and still came to £110 after discretionary service charge. Not sure it was worth the trip, and a little disappointed given how much I had looked forward to it. I wanted to like it, but even the members of the party that were more forgiving than me left extremely disappointed. Hopefully our experience was abnormal and this was just a bad day for them, that our experience is not like how yours will be, but the 45 minute drive for my 21st birthday meal was not worth it and won't be made again. Other reviews look amazing, and I really wish I could have had the food that was served to those people, but I wasn't so this is (unfortunately) the only review I can make.

Had a lovely family gathering at the Pony and Trap today for a birthday celebration! I chose the smoked trout rillette, which was served with toasted focaccia and cucumber! The cucumber was underwhelming, as it had no seasoning or pickling, but the focaccia made up for it ten fold! I presume the chunk was dipped into beef fat before being fried. YUM!! The rillette itself was lovely too! For the main course there were 3 options of beef, pork and veggie wellington. I went with the beef, but I took pictures of all the other dishes as well. Everyone was chuffed with their orders. The beef was indeed cooked perfectly. Full of flavour, particularly around the thick layer of fat. The veg was as you’d expect well cooked and seasoned. I was surprised by their diverse choice of crockery. Very appealing on the eye with a fun-factor. For a drink I went with their virgin mojito which again was very tasty! All round we had a lovely experience at the Pony and look forward to visiting again soon. Thank you to the team of chefs and front of house for making the experience wonderful.

Wonderful lunch with the most incredible back drop. We've driven by so many times and had no idea that there is a stunning dining room overlooking the whole of the Chew Valley. Loved every minute of our delicious meal. The menu is packed with too many tempting choices - we're going to need to go back again and again. Had a little wander around the gardens afterwards, marvelling at the care and dedication of the genius who is looking after it all. Never seen such abundance of well-tended veg patches! No wonder everything in the restaurant tastes so perfect. Already planning our next visit.

My wife and I went to The Pony for her birthday recently, and we were blown away. The setting is exceptional - the views from our table over Chew Valley and Dundry made it feel like a truly special dining experience. And then came the food… The Pony offers a set menu, almost like a tasting menu, which I think makes it quite unique in the area. All the food is local - sometimes as local as the garden just a stone’s throw from the table. Every dish was amazing, clearly high-quality and thoughtfully prepared. The tables are well spread out which added to the experience, we didn't feel like we were being crammed in as is often the case in restaurants. I recommend this restaurant to anyone, and we can’t wait to return.

Incredible place, we attended for our 5 year anniversary and we were not disappointed. We had the cote de boeuf following some very unusual but beautifully presented and tasty starters. The service was amazing, food quick to arrive and waiters very attentive throughout. We also though value for money as a Michelin star was spot on! Will certainly be returning in the future.
