"Quaint coffee shop Pony Espresso got a late 2024 rebrand to become Pony Cocktails and Kitchen, which officially opens for dinner service on December 4. Until then, diners can still sidle up to the counter for the familiar espresso drinks, laminated pastries, and brunchy dishes (the vegetable-packed “hungover” hash and sunrise burrito are favorites) during its daytime hours, as well as for cocktails served from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m." - Cathy Chaplin, Eater Staff

Google
Pony just completed a remodel and re-do of their menu. The remodel is excellent! I mostly get the BECA, which I highly recommend. Today, they had a ham and cheese croissant sandwich that looked amazing! I added avocado to it, and it was wonderful! I have not had their new cocktails yet, but we are planning on visiting in January for food and drinks.

I have to admit I mourned the loss of the “ coffee shop” atmosphere at first but the new expanded hours and menu ( breakfast, lunch AND Dinner!) have more than made up for it. Service is always friendly and attentive. Food is amazing and not the same fare you get at dozens of other places. Lots of creative cocktails to choose from! Kudos to Alberto and the chef! They welcome your canine companion in the outdoor patio-which has great heaters for the cool evenings. Highly recommend.

The new atmosphere and ambiance at Pony Cocktail and Kitchen are incredible! Great service, food, and cocktails. Alberto and Chef Jonny have outdone themselves. So fortunate to have yet another upscale sophisticated restaurant right here in Santa Ynez.

Google
This is a great place for breakfast and lunch, but still needs a little work on their dinner menu. Grouper served with a white sauce was unattractive and undercooked, but the asparagus side dish was delicious. Boneless chicken was excellent, but served on some bitter tasting sauce. There are only four entree choices on the dinner menu. I admit the dishes that were whizzed by me to be served at other tables looked pretty good and I'll try them next time. But for now, I'm sticking with breakfast and lunch.

1st timer. Business trip. Was looking for a spot that had great food and DECAF espresso & quick! Se habla español. Did not disappoint! What a sweet spot on an ole Western street drinking coffee with the local ranchers, businessman, moms, and cowboys. Soak up the ambiance, smell the homemade freshly baked chocolate croissants, and take in the artwork.

Google
Clean, innovative (without being pretentious) delicious food, friendly service and a neighborhood vibe that is 110% consistent and satiating. Breakfast, lunch and dinner never disappoint ~cocktails are great too!

Google
Decent food for sure, but just waited 30 mins for a to go breakfast, any reasonable service staff should say sorry it will take a little longer when it's ordered. I work in restaurants and would absolutely make sure the customer knows it's going to take 30 mins. Kinda wack dudes!

Yelp
The cocktails, wine and food are fantastic. The best dinner I've had in a while in the valley. Drinks and food prepared perfectly and wonderfully seasoned and flavors. Also had the romaine salad which was fantastic to start and shared the risotto and brick chicken. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
What an unexpected surprise. Visiting Santa Ynez and passed in front of this establishment. The owner was outside and my husband chatted with him. We made a reservation for the next night. Just finished dinner. Great cocktails, and fabulous bartender. Perfect service. The owner was welcoming and checked with us to make sure we were enjoying our drinks and food. As did the servers. Dinner was delicious. I had the brick chicken, which I highly recommend. My husband had risotto. Can't say about this.

Yelp
The mexican latte is absolutely delicious. Quaint little place with a delicious lox bagel and lemon ricotta pancakes.

Yelp
Meh.... I was hoping for a lot better. It wasn't horrible but was expecting more. Maybe the food/service will improve with time.

Yelp
My family was visiting the Buellton area during the Holidays and we decided to go to Santa Ynez. A friend of ours who was with us, recommended Pony Cocktails Kitchen. They are located on Edison and Sagunto St., next to the USPS Office. Something to note on Sagunto St is that this has a western feel, because of its history. Some of the buildings are from the old west and some have been recreated. There is plenty of public parking in my opinion, but depending on the time of day it could be a challenge. Upon arriving, we noticed that Pony Cocktails Kitchen has a really nice rustic decor (Blue and Copper Accents) and great seating outside. If the weather is a bit chilly, they have heat lamps installed above; so we opted for outside seating. Our server, Casandra arrived and she was really nice and she very helpful. We looked at their brunch menu and there were good selections to choose from in my opinion. We decided to order: Sunrise Burrito, Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and the Classic Breakfast. The Sunrise Burrito comes with: egg, potato, nduja, cheese blend, red bell pepper salsa, avocado, flour tortilla. Lemon Ricotta Pancakes comes with: lemon zest, vanilla butter & blueberry compote. The Classic Breakfast comes with: two eggs anystyle, bacon or sausage, roasted potato, toast & ketchup. After we placed our order, we were enjoying the scenery outside, waiting for our order to be ready. When our order arrived, I could tell that it was prepared fresh and the portions were good in my opinion. For the Classic Breakfast I really enjoyed the thick cut bacon, the potatoes were perfectly seasoned and the rustic bread was perfect; had crunch on each bite. I tried a little bit of the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and it was very good. Had the right amount of sweetness and zest and not too sweet in my personal opinion. As for the Sunrise Burrito, it was very filling and the ingredients combined was very good. Our overall experience was great and the Customer Service we received from Casandra, made it very pleasant and worthwhile. She would often check up on our table outside if we needed anything. In my personal open, I would recommend Pony Cocktails Kitchen if you are in the Santa Ynez area, looking for Brunch option. Next time are visiting the area, we definitely want to try their other items on the menu.

Yelp
This is probably the best place for a comfortable and interesting dinner in Santa Ynez. The owner is everywhere at once, the bartenders and waiters are attentive and the chef has innovative and well-executed dishes. Highly recommended if you're in the area.

Yelp
My wife & I shared a smash burger for lunch and it was super good. It came with skinny fries that were also great. Helpful staff even though it's basically self service. I would definitely come back if I was in the area.

Yelp
Fabulous food, great service and a wonderful ambiance. My diver scallops were perfectly cooked and my wife's risotto was delicious. The cocktails were amazing, truly epic. We will be back!

Yelp
The food is incredibly delicious! Been there twice since the recent opening. Friends, family, and we have been delighted with the food, the service and the ambiance. Alberto, the owner, is a food connoisseur and a master mixologist. So glad Pony is up and running better than ever!

Yelp
A perfect addition to the Santa Ynez Valley. Great food/service with yummy specialty cocktails. Can't wait to go back!
