The ribs were tender but not extremely flavorful. The sauce isn't cooked on the meat, its in containers on the table. Corn bread was great. Pork belly app was good. Burger anfmd Turkey sandwich my friends had were good. Drinks were great. Seats in the booth were upholstered and had crumbs all over them.. that should be cleaned after each group leaves.

Lunch at Poogans was great. Excellent cocktails. Nachos were perfect and the meat extremely tender. Loved the homemade sauces. Our server Anah Behrens was phenomenal. Stood out above all the servers we’ve encountered on our trip. 10/10

These were some of the BEST ribs we’ve ever eaten. So full of juicy smoked flavor! These ribs had more meat on two bones than a whole rack at most restaurants back home! Highly recommend!!

We were walking around downtown Charleston looking for a place to eat, not knowing much about where we were. We looked up and selected to walk to Poogans, hoping for some good southern BBQ. After walking around for a while, we arrived. We were seated quickly and the server was there within minutes to wait on us. The dining area was a little warmer than I would have liked it but not so bad it ruined the experience. Food was really good, the pork and turkey was really good. The ribs were good, but not great, harder to chew than I usually like for ribs but still had good taste. I would recommend this stop for one of your meals while in Charleston.

Went on a Wednesday afternoon so only a few people there. Seated right away and server was there right away. She was helpful and attentive. Had the two meat platter pulled pork and half chicken with chips and coleslaw. Not a huge side selection.Pork was good. Slaw average. Chips too salty for me. Chicken a little tough. Not sure I would try again.

This evening marked the second delightful occasion I had the pleasure of dining at her restaurant in Charleston. The service was attentive and friendly, adding to the overall warmth of the experience. The food was exquisite, each dish beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The ambiance was inviting, with soft lighting and a charming decor that perfectly complemented the meal.

We took a trip to Charleston Sunday for our anniversary. We decided on Poogan’s Smokehouse for dinner. They told us without a reservation they were full, but we were welcome to sit at the bar for full service, which was fine with us. My husband ordered a pulled pork sandwich and I had the pulled pork plate. We both had Mac and cheese for a side and I also had a side of slaw. Neither of us could eat the main course of pulled pork because it was way too salty. Part of it was very dry and you had to chew on it forever as well. I didn’t like the slaw, it was dry and vinegary. Which may just be the way it is made here. I’m just not a fan of it. The Mac and cheese was just ok. We wanted to love this place, it just wasn’t it for us that night.

After having a phenomenal meal at Poogan’s Porch, we decided to try Poogan’s Smokehouse for a quick bite before dinner. We liked the BBQ vibe here. We munched on the pulled pork tacos. They were very good. I’m sure dinner here would be a BBQ lover’s dream! We just didn’t have time to try it out. They have a full bar if you’re looking for an adult libation! I spotted an RC cola and drank one for the first time in 50 years. Tasted just like I remembered. If you’re looking for some original southern BBQ then this would be the place to try. I recommend Poogan’s Smokehouse to all!
