For a Friday night just after the return of the chicken sandwich, I was surprised that the store was not exceptionally busy. Service was competent if unspectacular, and pleasantly fast.
What was not good was the food. I ordered one of the chicken sandwiches and a 3 piece Voodoo Tenders, both with sides of red beans and rice. My tenders barely had any sauce on them and were cold. One felt like it hadn't been cooked all the way through, and one was extremely fatty with almost no meat. The sandwich was also cold to the point that grease had congealed onto the bun. Both orders of red beans and rice were runny and flavorless, like they'd been watered down.
In addition, the Freestyle soft drink machine was out of virtually everything except for Sprite and Barq's. Not even Coke, not even any of the flavorings (vanilla, cherry, etc.). I understand that in the recent mania over the chicken sandwich, some stores might be feeling the weight of being understaffed, but again, the store was not exceptionally busy nor did it show signs of having been unnaturally busy earlier. The lobby was clean, trash bins were recently changed, napkins and straws were in stock, and none of the staff seemed stressed out or overworked.
I work at a fast food restaurant myself and I understand those days when things don't work out right. But I have no idea why, despite an agreeably fast service time, my food was still cold and barely edible. Again, the service itself was not unreasonable, and the store was clean, so I am all the more puzzled as to why I received such poorly-made, cold food.
