Popeyes Will Open in Central Eastside, Portland | Eater Portland

"I learned that a Central Eastside building at 1525 SE Grand Avenue, which formerly housed a Burger King and has sat vacant for years after being damaged by a June 2020 fire, will become a Popeyes restaurant in 2024. Vancouver-based franchisee Ambrosia QSR, which operates over 200 fast-food locations including Popeyes, Burger King, and Arby’s, has filed permits to operate the location, and Ambrosia CEO Luke Pisors said, "We hope to be open for business sometime in 2024, but it’s hard to be any more specific this far out." The Portland City Council restriction on new drive-thru development does not apply to this site because it has an existing drive-thru." - Janey Wong

I got the 12-piece chicken strip family meal. The chicken strips are so thin and scraggly and overcooked. Plus they sat under the heat lamp for a long time and are very dried out same with the french fries. The biscuits were good and the soda was good. My chicken wings were good they were cooked well and not dried out. I've tried calling the restaurant and it's been busy. I've tried contacting them on the app and it keeps freezing up,so how are you to complain about food that you can eat that you just purchased. And this is their grand opening.

Ordered ahead for pick up, everything was wrong. The boxes weren’t closed, the bag was open, the food wasn’t hot. I ordered dark meat and it was all white pieces, the 3 side containers were half filled. Chicken tenders were tiny. The fry oil has an unusual, almost rank flavor. Overall, Popeye’s sells very salty food, thrown in a bag with little to recommend. And expensive for such a badly put together meal! The FredMeyer deli counter and KFC are much better for fried chicken and sides. Word. Now you know, too.

This one is hard for me. I LOVE Popeyes and they should receive a reward for flipping this property from what it was. But someone on the decision making side needs to understand that without a fence and active security, this place is going to be tough to keep people coming back to.

Glad to see someone took over the old Burger King on grand ave. It had been vacant for many years. They gave it a nice face-lift. Everything looked bright and new. Maria F. did a great job juggling front counter, door dash, and drive thru. Very friendly and helpful. The only thing I would suggest is to pipe in some music into the dinning room.

The seating area is nice, clean and spacious. The signature chicken is good as usual but the 12$ 12 wings deal is very disappointed.

Best fried chicken in town. They fry their chicken in chicken tallow as well as their fries, which are both delicious and crunchy. The Mardi Gras Mustard is the best on the fries. For BBQ fans, the Bold BBQ sauce is pretty good too.

Food was good but the service was very subpar and they actually didn't have butter 🧈 they also messed up our order multiple times but to their credit the staff one of the members was really eager to fix it even though it kept messing up more than once he was ready to make it right
