The 38 Essential Copenhagen Restaurants

"The fine dining chefs and fermentation experts of Noma started Popl during the pandemic, but the burger restaurant has set down permanent roots. The signature cheeseburger features beef sourced from some of Denmark’s most respected organic cattle farms, cooked in butter and glazed with beef garum. The veggie burgers are some of the best in the city too — made with urban-farmed lion’s mane mushrooms or fermented quinoa inoculated with tempeh spores — brushed with a glaze of yeast garum, fava bean shoyu, and smoked vegan butter. Don’t miss the pickles plate as a side. There’s craft beer and natural wine to drink alongside, and a bottle shop stacked with Noma sommeliers’ favorite producers." - Anna Norström, Gabe Ulla

"Initially a pop-up restaurant from chef René Redzepi, Popl now has permanent digs in the city’s Christianshavn. This new neighbourhood wine-and-burger bar draws inspiration from the izakaya, Japan’s informal drinking establishments, in both furnishings and atmosphere."

Lovely location, small sitting area inside the shop but there are more tables outside. The burger looks very regular but after one bite there will be a smile on your face and you will understand how good the burger is. Buns, cheese, Beef patty, pickle, red onion, and the sauce is just perfectly right!

SO delicious! Everything we ate was amazing - but I must say the gazpacho was off the charts good! Beautiful to look at as well! Highly recommend trying popl - but go hungry! You don’t want to miss anything!!

You have Two options to taste this juicy burger; restaurant or to-go shop. You had better reserve your seats for weekends at the restaurant. For pick-up shop, you need only 10-15minutes if they’re not Busy. It’s definitely better than the other popular burger 🍔 grill chain and %20 more expensive. Limited indoor seating for pick-up shop. Very helpful team. All sauces are extra (even ketchup). They’ve pickles as different alternative to others’.

Created by the same mind behind the world-renowned, three-Michelin-star restaurant Noma, this place quickly gained fame and became one of those bucket list spots I was eager to try. Expectations were understandably high — perhaps too high — and while the experience was good, it didn’t quite reach the level I had hoped for. We tried both the cheeseburger and the vegan burger. Both were tasty, with the vegan option standing out thanks to a flavorful quinoa patty and well-seasoned vegetables. Still, with the Noma legacy behind it, I couldn’t help but expect something even more extraordinary. There are actually two POPL locations — one is more of a takeaway joint with limited indoor seating (which is the one we visited), and the other is a full-service restaurant offering a wider menu. Our wait was about 20 minutes despite the small crowd. That said, honorable mention goes to the fries — absolutely amazing! Crispy, golden, and perfectly seasoned. All in all, the burgers were very good and the prices fair by Copenhagen standards. But considering the Noma connection, I was left wanting just a little bit more.

This is a truly original hamburger restaurant. The burgers are top quality—with perfectly baked buns and expertly grilled meat. If you go for the menu, you’ll also get some creative starters. Expect surprising combinations like peas with strawberries, onions, and edible flower petals. It looks stunning and tastes uniquely delicious. The friendly staff greets you with a warm smile, making the whole experience even more memorable. Prices are a bit higher than average for a hamburger place.

As a cheeseburger lover, I’d say it was an average burger. The meat and cheese were actually good, but we found it way too greasy. The overwhelming taste of oil in everything was a bit off-putting. After placing the order, it took about 15 minutes to prepare.

What an amazing place by the waters. Food is much better than at Nyhavn which is too touristy and expensive. This is a short walk from Nyhavn and totally worth it. The burger here was amazing and also the cola that we had. The vegetarian burger is also surprisingly good which tasted like meat. Nice and lively vibe around this place. There's outdoor seating as well which is great. Loved it.

The burger is pretty good, is it amazing or excellent? No it is not. Still a good burger, chip alright though. You can get bottles of wine and everything is to go, same wrap if you eat it out side or in your house. I tried it liked it but wouldnt go there again
