Created by the same mind behind the world-renowned, three-Michelin-star restaurant Noma, this place quickly gained fame and became one of those bucket list spots I was eager to try. Expectations were understandably high — perhaps too high — and while the experience was good, it didn’t quite reach the level I had hoped for.
We tried both the cheeseburger and the vegan burger. Both were tasty, with the vegan option standing out thanks to a flavorful quinoa patty and well-seasoned vegetables. Still, with the Noma legacy behind it, I couldn’t help but expect something even more extraordinary.
There are actually two POPL locations — one is more of a takeaway joint with limited indoor seating (which is the one we visited), and the other is a full-service restaurant offering a wider menu. Our wait was about 20 minutes despite the small crowd.
That said, honorable mention goes to the fries — absolutely amazing! Crispy, golden, and perfectly seasoned.
All in all, the burgers were very good and the prices fair by Copenhagen standards. But considering the Noma connection, I was left wanting just a little bit more.
