It's been 2 years since I said I'd never come back again! How in the world are you still here 2 years later with this bad of service? Popolo's does nothing special on a good day. In a bad day, I call in an order-Do you still have calzone lunch special? Person has no idea and has to go ask-4 minutes later they do. Ok great all meat calzone please; hold the meatball. Response- So just Pep and cheese- Yep no problem great! If all meat is Pep and meatballs I guess that proves my point that they do nothing special right? 15-20 minutes she says. Get there 16 minutes later, they have no idea who I am. Then says they found it, five more minutes later. Charges me. Then says it'll be 20 minutes. WTH? No no no! Have you idiots not heard of this thing called a lunch break? It's already been 21 minutes and you want another 20? Because the cook is really busy? With 3 tables? I asked for a refund. 4 days for that. Which I doubt I'll ever see. This lunch choice cost me over $50 with the wasted time easily. 2 years later. I don't even care. Sad to see what was once a nice family place with really nice people devolve to this level. You guys need to close. Enough is enough. You're doing a disservice to the Old Man's memory at this point. Last visit. Final. I strongly recommend to anyone looking for a nice family pizza place to try one of the other dozen or more within a few miles. You were politely warned.

5.6 \\\ Ordered a combination.. Chassis was not bad, had a good crisp , however this is a VERY doughy pie . Toppings were ok but couldn't get past all the dough ! BBQ wings were pretty tasty but average. Great service, ambiance is plain and pretty quiet . Again pizza is a 5.6 //

This is hands down the best pizza in Fresno, CA and in the top 5 of places in the Central Valley of California. Such a hidden gem of a locally owned and operated business! Great atmosphere for all! Perfect for kids birthday parties, great for power lunches between executives and corporate gatherings and dinner is my favorite time because it feels authentically like a pizza place! Has sports games on TVs throughout all the seating and has a nice bar seating area with a nice selection of beers on tap! Support local!

Google
Recommend by a friend after I went 24 hours without eating. Ordered the Buffalo fries with bacon to start off. They were delicious. Our medium Pololo's special pizza came soon after. Good size, plenty of toppings only thing I could say bad about it was the dough needed more flavor(salt).

Raw! I don’t mean under cooked…..I mean, end of the day, people wanted to go home, so they threw a raw pizza in a box and that was ok with someone!

Had a birthday party there for my son. Ordered the family size pizza and the waitress told me the kitchen was baking me a new pepperoni because they burnt the curst a bit. I said no worries and they insisted. Then as I was paying a man came up and was so rude to the wait staff and told them they were taking to long and 20 minutes was to much time for 2 pizzas. He canceled them as the waitress was handing them the pizza. He was so rude and then upset that they made him pay for the drinks and appetizers. Seriously if you can't afford to eat out don't. The wait staff was so calm and treated him with respect even though he didn't do that for them. I will be back for sure because they were great.

Google
Found this place thanks to their Facebook page. It popped up on my feed once and decided to give them a try based on their often posted food option pictures they serve and other people's reviews. First time and I decided to purchased the most priciest pizza which is the largest 30 inch pizza they serve. My family and I where satisfied with their pizza. Took it to go so it came out to 4 boxes that I took home. I ordered through phone both the female employee and the gentleman I spoke to where very nice. Place looks very nice and higher upscale compare to your traditional pizza places. Outdoor seating looks great as well if there was more like a rope of warm white light that may turn it to looks more romantic as the layout of the outdoor seating looks as such anyway. Overall was rather surprised how pleasant it was from a phone call to pick up and paying. Will come back again :) this time to eat there with my family to see how the service is in person.

It's been years since we were here... and our experience was perfect. Salad bar fresh and fully stocked with a great selection. Combo pizza so tasty! Our waitress was sweet and helpful, and very attentive. We shall return soon!

Yelp
Amazing. Authentic, delicious. There is nothing that matches Ovidio's in terms of top-notch, beautiful Italian cuisine. Owner is fantastic, and his attentiveness cannot be rivaled; strikes the absolute right note between service and friendliness. This said, there is an adjoining "bar" side (same owner, shared wall, but otherwise 100% separate - you have to leave the bar side via its entrance and re-enter the restaurant side via its own entrance ) where a couple of the bar waitresses are more suited to roadside bar, and when allowed to work the fine dining side, their less than respectful/attentive side can spill over. Just shoo them away if need be and you will not regret it. Food, owner and service is otherwise superb!

Yelp
Came here for my sister's birthday. They were very accommodating with big groups, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We ordered the huge pizza and can select up to 4 pizza styles. The pizza was so big. We had leftovers after feeding about 10 people. Was very tasty. Had a really good experience! I would recommend!

Yelp
Mom wanted a Popplos sandwich for lunch. I hadn't been in since my last review in 2017. Walked in around 12:20/12:30 on a Wednesday afternoon and there was almost no one in the restaurant. The bad smell in the restaurant is Marijuana seeping in from the dispensary next door. Not being smoked, but the smell of their inventory. All the booth table tops look grimey and somewhat sticky, no sheen. The booth seats are cracked. The floors are dark and have a similar grimey look to them. I ordered the calzone lunch special and my mom ordered the lunch special sandwich. The salad bar was just okay, but overall looked clean. The bowls for the salad unfortunately gave me pause as they have seen better days. My calzone was served with a burnt top, my mom's sandwich was burned as well, just not as bad as mine. I picked off the black top and it was overall, just okay. Bummed that this place seems to have gone downhill. Hate to see a locally owned business seemingly not doing well.

Yelp
Nice dinner experience with the family on a Saturday night! So I grew up going to the Popolo's location in Fresno on Blackstone and Herndon, and last visited this location about 6 years ago. I thought this would be a good option for our dinner, making everyone happy, and I was correct! We entered and got seated immediately in a comfortable booth as requested. Our server was attentive, and our beverages & made-to-order breaksticks came out in a timely manner. I love the tall cups of soda and water, and the refills kept coming. I ordered a Veggie calzone and modified it a bit, everything came out correct. Also ordered at our table were other calzones, salad bars, and a cheese pizza. We were all content, and all had left-overs. They even provided take home cups for our beverages upon request. The booth was very nice, and our view was amazing...granted it did just rain and the most glorious rainbow was positioned right in front of the business, but still a nice view other times with the palm trees around. Overall Recap- Seating: variety available with tables & chairs, booths, and the bar. Nice large windows looking out to the parking lot area, palm trees. Service: attentive, accommodating, and timing was great. Food: pizza was good, however, cheese really had trouble staying on. I think it was the ratio of cheese and foundation base of the pizza- weight of the cheese and thin bottom, but the crust, the sauce, the flavors, not too shabby! One note- I was surprised, I asked if I could have some bbq sauce, they brought out a container right away- great! But, when the bill came, I noticed I was charged a fee- would have been nice to know that ahead of time. My calzone was absolutely loaded with the veggies requested, but the dough itself was a bit overbaked. It was very thin and crispy- not as I thought it may be- but the flavors were there inside. I would definitely return back again, & just be mindful of additional charges that may come about, and perhaps ask that the calzone come out prior to browning. Check it out though, nice change of pace from the usual, routine, chain pizza places!

Yelp
The food is good here, but the service is awful. It used to be good service, but the last 3 times we have been there, the service has gotten worse and worse and usually there is barely anyone in there. We went a few days ago and it was over 15 minutes before we were even acknowledged. Then the waitress came over and said she is dealing with something and would be back soon to get our drink orders. That was another 10 minutes. They were out of so many drink options. We didn't have forks for our wings and so we asked for forks and there were 9 of us. We were given 5 forks. Again, we had to wait and ask for more forks. Once we got our food, it was good, but we almost left as it took so long to even be acknowledged and get served. I hope this place gets their service together soon, otherwise we will not be coming back anymore.

Yelp
Great and tasty pizzas! I ordered the Popolo's Supreme and it was as delicious as I remember when I lived in Fresno 40 years ago. Still the same great taste.

Yelp
Well. Did an order online. Said it would be ready at 348. Get there at 350. Was told it would be 15 minutes still. The place was empty. It means they started preparing it when I got there. Live update. 20 minutes later. Still no pizza. I am now an hour past the time that I ordered it. Got pizza at 420. Totally unacceptable.

Yelp
We went to try this pizza in December and we really liked it. We ordered mozzarella sticks and fries for appetizer while the pizza arrived. They were pretty tasty. The marinara sauce was on point to our taste. My Hubby ordered a tree meat pizza, my daughter her usual Canadian bacon and pineapple half and half. I did get my usual too. I got the veggie pizza. The sauce of the pizzas were pretty good and the crust of the pizzas was on point. We like crunchy and soft at the same time. So yo ya this place passed out test. They out enough cheese and toppings. We were delighted. Highly recommend. The server was very attentive and the food came in decent time. The ambience was casual and they had TVs in the wall as well as music in the background. Very nice place to enjoy some girls night out and family time.

Yelp
Best pizza in town Service is top tier Bar is nice I've been going here since I was a little kid. Get the garlic bread you won't be disappointed

Yelp
Went to Popolo's today with my nieces and nephew to have lunch, because we wanted their really good pizza...hours say open @ 11, it was 12noon and door was locked with a sign on door closed due to heat? I also called their phone # and it's been disconnected wow, What the? It's too bad this place used to be my favorite to go to, I have a feeling they're shutting down or will be very soon. Maybe you should change locations or open a smaller place, that the rents not as expensive as the building you're in....hope you do so we can keep coming for the yummy pizza & hot baked sandwiches!

Yelp
Please please please clean your establishment. I love your food and your salad bar but your restaurant is dirty and smells. I just arrived to have lunch and the bench seats in the bar are filthy. Yelp
I had a massage at Simply Soothing Therapy and as I walked out, I saw Popolo's red neon sign. I was going to go get my husband and come back, but it was rush hour so I went back and ordered to go. This was my first time here so review may change. When I first entered, it wasn't quite as busy, but the night went on, it got busier. I ordered the medium combination pizza and the meatball calzone. Price: $24.99 for medium pizza and 14.50 for meatball Calzone with side of salad or soup. I got the salad to be healthy. Overall for a pizza and Calzone, it was $46 plus change. I added tip which added to $53 for one medium pizza and a Calzone. Jalapeños and ranch were $1.50 each, I then I saw that they had a special Monday through Saturday from 2-6 for a large pizza and beer for $10. I wish I would have just ordered there and had my husband meet me since I was there at least 30 minutes before 6pm. Overall, very pricey for 2 items. Pizza- When I got my pizza, I thought it looked small, but when I brought it home, we could barely finish it, not just because of the size, but we didn't care for it and it already got soggy by the time I got home. My husband and I can usually finish a large Me N Ed's pizza or a large little Caesars pizza. However, we found the combination pizza bland and the dough was tough. I love Me N Ed's crust so this crust and Marcos Pizza's flavors, although the dough was homemade, it was a little disappointing and the toppings were bland. Thumbs down for pizza. Salad- While waiting for my order, I was provided with the salad that our calzone came with. The cashier told me she was going to the salad bar and she was going to bring me a cup to put my dressing in. She got busy with phone orders so I just topped my salad with Italian dressing. It reminded me of the salad bars Pizza Hut used to have. Calzone- Comes with a salad or soup. We got the meatball calzone. The bread is the best calzone bread I have had and the toppings were delicious. The Calzone was bussin. The pizza was a bust. So soft. Service- I ordered to go so I didn't really get served, although it would have been nice to get offered a cup of water while I waited the 40 minutes for the food to be done, but I could have asked as well. When my food came, I was missing my jalapeños and ranch which I paid almost $5 for so I made sure to get it. Would I be back again? Yes, to try the happy hour food and drinks and to try the appetizers and Calzones, but probably not for the pizza.

Yelp
Everything!!! Everyone is always so nice there, the wait time isn't too bad, and the food always tastes so fresh. My fav is the salad bar
google avatar

Alex R.

Yelp
Pizza is great, fast delivery, great customer service when I called. But when my pizza was delivered the guy was covered in flour and still had his Apron on from the kitchen which was very dirty and I just felt very grossed out by that.

Yelp
I'm only giving 2 stars because the restaurant was nice and the waitress was awesome. The soda is flat. They need bubbles in their fountain soda. Just terrible. Pizza toppings were tasty, sauce was ok but, the crust tasted like saltine crackers. Not good at all. I will not be back.

Mo M.

Yelp
Pizza is pretty good. We like the hot sandwiches too. Lately they seem overworked and under staffed. Last few times anyway. I ordered two takeout pizzas. Sat at the bar for 20-30 minutes and no one asked me if I wanted a beer. Keeping people drinking would seem a bigger boost to revenues than having them sit at the bar and wait for pizza

Marie G.

Yelp
food, service, & ambience 5 's !! haven't been here since the old location on Blackstone & Herndon ..... was able to go have lunch here recently & it was still just as delicious ! LUV the new location & the outside patio. The lady that helped us was SUPER NICE & great service. THANK YOU

Yelp
Where do I begin to describe this less-than-good- experience? I used to go to the old Popolo's on Herndon and Blackstone way back in the day, and it was AMAZING - back then! Today, however? Not so much! 1. When we first walked in and stood by the counter to be seated, a server came to us and rudely asked if what we needed. Well... we want to have dinner, why else are we here, Captain Obvious? 2. The person that seated us seemed a little lost and confused as to what her task was supposed to be - seat us please, we would like to have dinner. 3. The server was pleasant, but it took them forever to come over to us 4. The salad bar had wilted lettuce, huge chunks of carrots, and some of the salad dressings were almost emptied, making it virtually impossible to spoon out the dressing you wanted. 5. The iced tea tasted like it was days old 6. Our server dropped the ball on us and left us sitting there for about 30 minutes with no updates on our order - my husband had to go find someone to find out the status of our meal. 7. The pizza was room temperature which means it was sitting there for a while, and someone most likely forgot to bring it out. 8. The pizza itself tasted "okay" but it was WAY too greasy. The manager came over and profusely apologized about the poor service we received and let us know they were short staffed. We understood paid our bill and left. Sadly, the Popolo's of yesterday, is no more. We won't be going back!

Yelp
Pros: Nice new area, clean, upscale side of town. If you catch them on a good day you might get a decent pizza like I posted. Cons: The nostalgia of the former Herndon/Blackstone spot is simply not there, the old spot was always packed and the new place well can be a ghost town at times. Not sure what happened but the taste, texture, the love is simply not there for the pizzas now, and that makes me sad.

Yelp
Firstly I want to say I was greeted as soon as I walked in by a friendly server who took good care of me during the meal. But unfortunately the food was a big disappointment! I started with a cup of minestrone soup to warm up as it was a cold and rainy night. The soup temperature was tepid and a watery consistency. For the main course I chose the garden party pizza. There was a decent amount of veggies, but the pizza was drenched in way too much melted cheese. Biting into the crust I realized it was undercooked. It is very rare for me to not finish my food but this was one of those occasions. I ate the veggies but had to leave the rest of the pizza as it was impalatable! Thankfully I had a tall glass of Modelo Beer to curb the appetite. Popolos is spacious, with a pleasant outside patio and a games room for kids. It would be a great place for a family gathering. I just hope the quality of their food improves.

Yelp
Ok, I haven't been here in a while but here goes..first off our waitress was super nice and would love to give her props!! She is the only reason why I gave two stars rather than one! Buuuttt, when we first walked in, the awful smell hit us like a brick! It was awful! The testy smelled like wet dog..at first I thought it would go away but it never did. Then we walked over to the salad bar and the smell got worse!! It smelled like something went bad! The salad bar did not look appealing at all. I hate to say but I will never go there again..I felt sick to my stomach the whole time :( This place use to be one of our favs...

Yelp
This place is amazing!! Family loves this pizza!! The customer service is exceptional as well. Always a friendly cashier. Thank you Popolo's for the great service!!

Yelp
In the past we loved coming here for dinner or lunch. We stopped coming for a while because the food went down hill. Tonight was not that great and we were hoping that it had changed for the better since our last time. I have a hard time writing a not so great review about a place we used to love. The food was just ok.. we actually left not wanting to give it another try after this last meal. The crusts of the pizzas were not as fluffy soft as we used to get and they were thin and really bubbled up but also over cooked but doughy at the same time. The bread sticks seemed like they had not risen before cooked and they were like hard blocks of overcooked dough. Everything we ordered lacked cheese. They over did on the sauce but the cheese was very sparse. The salad bar lettuce was wilted and the cucumbers were soft and translucent and I wasn't sure they were actually ok to eat. There were no croutons just crumbs and the selection of toppings was mediocre. There was some sort of pasta salad and the pasta was gummy and the potato salad looked old. The first booth we skipped to sit at because it wasn't very clean but the second one wasn't much cleaner. I know they struggle finding good servers and keeping them and our waitress tried and did her best. I am not sure what happened because we have been eating their pizza for 20 years and always had a great meal but now something has changed. We do not mind paying more for good food but we left feeling like we wasted our money.

Yelp
The pizza is not good! The bottom was burnt and it was very expensive for not good quality. We ordered out so I don't have anything to say about the staff or restaurant. I wouldn't come back.

Yelp
Service was excellent. Great in or take out. Wonderful crust with very good toppings. Was a favorite at the old location on Blackstone and still is in "new " location as well.

Yelp
I did not plan to come to Popolo's today! I was sad to see Wahoo's was closed and the line at Deli Delicious was ridiculous (but, good for them!), so I thought, what the heck, I'm gonna have some homemade dough! I walked over to Popolo's and ordered a meatball calzone which came with soup or salad. Of course I opted for the minestrone (salad who?). I was rewarded because that soup had great depth of flavor. They offered a lunch special of half serving of calzone that still came with soup or salad and was about $5 less but by that point I was hungry and wanted the whole thing. Of course I only had half and had the other half for dinner. I only wish the calzone came packed in something with less packaging. The soup came in a reusable container that ensured it didn't melt on my walk back to the office, and I will reuse it. I loved that the calzone wasn't a ton of dough but obviously homemade as I remembered! And that there were lots of fillings of onion, peppers and mushrooms with the meatballs, which were moist and tasty. Special mention for the marinara sauce that came with the calzone. I *never* use it but here, it was so tasty and since the inside wasn't filled with sauce, I added a bit with each bite, loved it. On this visit, on a Tuesday around 1:00, there were only three tables occupied and no pick up orders while I was there. I seriously hope this isn't the norm. Fresno can't let this locally owned hand made pizza place down.

Yelp
I love the pizza it's was so good and the service is outstanding I notice construction near by it was still clean area, but overall it was worth it to come and eat here.

Yelp
Didnt know this place moved, thought they just went out of business. Called them up and ordered take out pizza. 40 minutes later I showed up. Waited 15 minutes in line & then was told that my oreder was never made. After not being offered any kind of discount, they asked if I wanted to wait while they made it. I said "what kind of discount can you offer?". They said "NO DISCOUNT".Ok. No thank you. Ist & last visit to new location. Bye bye.

Yelp
The worker was very kind upon calling and ordering one dinner roll to go with lunch. He said alrighty and will see you soon! We went to get it. It was ready. The bread was split in half and very tasty! Deliciousness with lunch! Great service and delicious bread roll! Highly recommended!

Yelp
I have been going to this place for pizza ever since I can remember when they use to be located on Herndon and Blackstone. Every year I would choose this place as my birthday dinner or have my birthday party here and get their party size pizza. Honestly, I have never had a bad pizza from them and have been coming for over 20 years. I bring everyone I know here and then they become fans and do the same. Though I no longer live in town if I'm in town and going to get pizza, this is the only place I go. I always order the double time so if you plan to just know it does take a little longer to come out then the regular pizzas, but man is it worth it. This is my favorite pizza place of all time and it has become a part of my life to where my family and friends associate here with me lol.

Yelp
Just went again for a casual birthday dinner. Love the pizza, lasagna, and salad bar. Service is a bit slow but not bad.

Yelp
We've been coming here for a while now and have always had a good experience even had my sons birthday there once a few years ago. Came in Saturday 3/11/23 around 4:30 pm with my family and my in-laws and was just extremely disappointed , so much that we will no be going back again. The paper menus were beat up and disgusting , no drink menu available with beers listed. The salad bar had open slots, very limited choice , mushrooms were brown , they had old crusty wooden bowls to use for the salad and there were no forks... we waited 20 minutes (no lie) for them to wash forks. My son ordered a side of fries while we waited for our pizza (which took a very long time ) and the restaurant wasn't that busy at the time we went in. Anyway he asked for ketchup and got a bottle that had about 1 squirt worth of ketchup... really?? For a huge plate of fries ?!?! So then we asked for more and waitress brought another one that had the same amount. She said they were all like that. Unbelievable y'all can't even afford ketchup bottles??? While we were waiting for our pizzas I told my son to go play some games ... he came back and said the game room was disgusting dirty, the change machine didn't work to get quarters and the staff said they didn't have quarters. The pizza was good when we finally got it 2 hours later , waitress (didn't catch her name was awesome) this is not her fault management and ownership need to get it together !! By the looks of your reviews you're losing a lot of business I know you've lost mine for sure .

Yelp
Solid 3+. Food is good. Service got better after I flagged them down. Super loud. Plenty of televisions to watch sports. Price was reasonable.

Yelp
Ughhhh, wayyyyy too much cheese and for a olive and mushroom slice it was overpowering. Sorry not sorry, could've pulled an armor truck with that cheese once it got cold- No Bueno

Yelp
i picked my pizza up from the restaurant and it was luke warm at best. Biting into the pizza i could immediately tell that the dough wasn't cooked all the way through and felt mushy. Each bite i had flour on my lips from being undercooked. Me n Eds is significantly better

Yelp
Took a little while to get our pizza for a Saturday lunch but it is worth the wait. Been coming here and their original location for 35 years. Probably our favorite pizza in the Fresno area. Service is very friendly.

Yelp
We've gone here for a long time. Love the food, although the lettuce in the salad bar is usually brown. The pizzas and sandwiches are really good. It is a neat looking place but they are not keeping it clean. The floors look gross, the salt and peppers are sooooo sticky and dirty, and the booth walls need a deep clean. Table tops are just not clean either. Service is good most of the time. If they would pay more attention to these things, I think they would do better business! I'm sad to write this because we go here often, but please Popolos....clean it up!!

Yelp
Saturday night, we couldn't think what to eat. I wanted something cheesy but none of our usual spots sounded good. I searched calzones and Popolo's came up, so we made an order for delivery. It took awhile and not everything was hot by the time it arrived, but I was starving so I didn't really mind. Everything came organised and nicely presented in pizza boxes - nothing greasy. We got lasagne, a meatball calzone, and potato skins. I like that they include soup or salad with the entrees - it replicates the sit-down experience a little more than opening a sweaty box. We got salads with both, mostly iceberg with a little cabbage, topped with cherry tomatoes and cucumber (all very fresh) and a generous tub of ranch. The lasagne also came with breadsticks. Everything was good, I'd order again. The potato skins were such a throwback. They had a good ratio of potato to cheese to bacon and came with a creamy ranch. The lasagne is rich and not too heavy. The calzone is definitely on the fancier side, not greasy at all, and we easily could've shared it. The dough is quite thick (they seem to be proud of their fresh dough) and it had plenty of mozzarella, good meatballs, and fresh peppers inside. The only thing we could've used a touch more of is the marinara sauce with the calzone. I'm surprised that in 11+ years of eating out at neighboring restaurants I've never been to Popolo's. Now that we know they're maintaining high standards with fresh ingredients and good cooking we'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Mistreatment of employees. It is never ok to yell, humiliate, or otherwise demean an employee under any circumstances. Managers need better training.

Yelp
Can't really comment on the food since their service was so horrible. Walked in and the sign said to wait to be seated so we waited, with 3 small children, including a baby who I was holding...for about 10-15 minutes while no one there even acknowledged we were there. They weren't even busy, it was a Thursday evening and there were lots of open tables. So I finally ask an employee if we can sit down and she said yes wherever we wanted. So we went to sit down at a booth and again were waiting for about another 10-15 minutes without anyone coming to our table to take our order. It's already difficult enough to eat out with small children, let alone when you have such slow and poor service. We ended up just walking out since no one ever came to our table. We try to support local, so we were extremely disappointed and will not be back.

Yelp
Visit was Friday, 1/14. Attended a rehearsal dinner with approx 30-40 people in attendance. The restaurant designated us in their private party room that comprised of 5 long tables. Large parties are logistical nightmares for staff but they did tend to us very well. We had approximately 7 or 8 XXL pizzas, chicken wings, cheese breads and a bacon topped concoction. There is also a serve yourself salad bar in this location. What was funny was that I was just a guest during this visit, but for some reason, staff were also gravitating to me to make sure if everything was ok, LoL. I had to check a few times if there was "Yelp Elite" written on my forehead or something. This was my first time at this restaurant and would most definitely go back. Service was very attentive and they were well prepared us. Good job, Popolo's.

Yelp
Loved the crispy, perfectly cooked crust! The toppings were fresh and delicious and the sauce is perfect!!! The young man that waited on us was super polite and efficient. Really good meal.

Yelp
I wish I could give this place a better review. Their staff are really great, but besides that there is nothing to brag about... I ordered a lasagna which also came with a soup (clam chowder). Interestingly enough, the day before I got to experience Monterey's clam chowder from 4 different places (tasting). Popolo's clam chowder was overly salty, lacked clams and primarily was flavorless (well, besides salt, but I consider salt a "flavor-masker"). Lasagna also left much to be desired. The quality of meat was poor, you really don't even know what sort of meat they are putting there... It was very fatty, and so were the breadsticks, soaked in butter... Ugh... My friend's vegetarian pizza had slices of tomato on top and almost no tomato sauce. And this place specializes in pizza??? Another friend's pizza lacked green peppers that her ordered extra, so he got them sprinkled on top after pizza arrived. Green, fresh, crunchy peppers, just from under a kitchen knife... On a pizza that was already cooked... Sad :( The place was understaffed over the Labor Day weekend, so we had to wait for over an hour for our food. Staff, however, did check on us regularly. Not their fault... Doubt that I will be back...

Yelp
We used to have pizza and salad bar at the old location at Herndon & Blackstone, and especially enjoyed the clean, fresh salad bar and hot, tasty pizzas. My former employer also used their catering services and the food was always fresh, simple and yummy. When they relocated, we went once or twice and thought that perhaps the quality had declined, but it was still acceptable as far as pizza parlors go, even though the salad bar was obviously inferior to what it had been. However, when my mother and I went in for lunch a couple of days ago, we were both shocked at how absolutely filthy the facility was. The table was sticky, the floor was dusty and grimy, even though they had just opened, the condiment holder was stained with grease and dirt, and the salad bar had rusty iceberg lettuce with veggies that looked worked over, not to mention the old looking macaroni salad--it was just awful. We decided to skip it. In spite of this, I ordered the vegetarian calzone. It arrived with undercooked vegetables, doughy crust, and a tiny container of flavorless sauce. My mother's dish was similarly unappetizing with French fries that were fried in old oil. The service was quick and attentive. I hope this restaurant will seriously consider making much needed improvements. It would be nice to a pizza place close by with table service and a great salad bar.
