Okay... I was really disappointed. I'm here with my wife to celebrate her birthday gift in London and we have a great time. This evening we went to my favourite place in Camden, to eat in Poppies Fish & Chips super popular because here it is really good... No, I'm sorry it was!!!☹️
7 years ago and before, the quality, the quantity and the service was SPECTACULAR!!! Now the tempura around the fish was similar to the supermarket and the chips were the same. We were very hungry, we walked all around the city centre and we finished everything on our plates. Before there was big cod, dry tempura and the chips were crunchy and crispy, but it was famous because no one drops of fried oil left in and out of the food!!
They used to put the paper like a magazine because they want you to see that you eat the magic recipe without oil in your food.
Only the beer from Camden was as good as before.
We asked why it changed dramatically like that, and we understood that the food is made in the main kitchen from the company somewhere in London.
I hope POPPIES OWNER(S), that's better change as before and let the branches make the food fresh as before.

One of the better fish and chips spot in London so far, made better with the smiley and welcoming team 👍🏻
Shared a large haddock as they ran out of cod, and a seafood platter as well. Fish was good and chunky, chips were in abundance and hot, calamari was amazing, and most of the items on the seafood platter were good in general.
A very filling order for the two of us, definitely will consider taking out in future seeing its £7 cheaper - but didn’t regret this experience dining in this amazing establishment with rich history and deco 👍🏻

I've wanted to try here for a while, but I was totally disappointed, a complete rip-off, tourist trap. The environment was lovely, tight seating, upstairs available. Pleasant atmosphere. Attentive staff. There are lots of food options, but it's hugely overpriced. A bar at the back is available. People were turned away as it was too busy, and takeaway is also available. Food wise was an absolute hype, the smallest piece of cod, I've ever had for £13.50, plus a side order of frozen, non chip shop, chips for £3.50, and a pot of tea. Hardly any flavour, thank God for the small pot of tartare sauce, which gave the meal a fraction of life. £25 each for cod, chips, and a pot of tea. Never again.

If you’re looking for the ultimate fish and chips experience in London, Poppies in Camden is the place to go! I had the haddock, and it was perfectly crispy on the outside, flaky on the inside—just how it should be. The large portion of chips was golden, crunchy, and dangerously addictive. The retro decor and lively atmosphere add to the charm, making it feel like a true British classic. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, this is a must-try spot for proper fish and chips.

Very good fish and chips in Camden at a well known chippy. The wait time was minimal to get inside and the service was exceptional. The portions are healthy and the food was good. Recommended for a good meal on a busy day.

After researching a bit about great places for Fish & Chips in London, Poppies was one high up on my list.
I visited this restaurant in Camden Town.
The interiors were quirky, retro with plenty of interest posters!
We called for a Regular sized Haddock fish supper, Homemade Mushy peas and freshly squeezed orange juice.
The Haddock tasted fresh, was served warm and mildly flavoured. The tartar sauce was a good addition. The chips/fries were a bit soggy, but delicious!
The service was quick and I enjoyed my Fish & Chips experience.
Note: takeout is 20% cheaper as VAT is not charged. There is a separate counter for it.

Great restaurant with a very friendly manager and good food. Fish and chips is one of the best I've had. It was a bit more expensive, £17, but it was great. The meat is great, the fries are excellent. The decoration is to my taste - old things on the walls, mostly from America.

We visited Poppies Fish and Chips at Camden as its one of the Fish and Chips locations I was told to visit. The place was good, busy as its a very busy area and this location is just off the main street. Lots of seating as well as a take out counter. The food is good, not the best fish I had in London, but good. Service is also fast as some of the items are already made since the place is busy and food moves quickly. Worth a visit.
