It’s not New York City, but D.C. has some good bagel spots- Bagels, Etc, Pearl’s Bagels, and Call Your Mother. Because of that, I walked into Pop’s Bakery skeptical and walked out a fan. First of all, the smell attracts you inside to a space where you can watch them make their bagels. There’s a menu above the counter with just four bagel options (plain, everything, poppy, and sesame) but lots of schmears from sweet to savory. My seven-year-old daughter got a plain bagel with plain cream cheese. I got the sesame with brown sugar cinnamon sour cream. The texture of both bagels was spot on-chewy and tasty. The schmears were excellent. I get why, but they put lots of schmear on the bagel. My daughter removed about half of it. They also sell coffee, drinks, chips, etc. Wait time was around 15 minutes on a busy Saturday around noon.

A friend recommended Poppy’s Bagels and Deli to me before I was catching a plane to head home. I had the Chicken Salad on an everything bagel and it was fantastic . I ended up boarding my flight with a dozen bagels, container of chicken salad and container of cream cheese. The staff is friendly and makes you feel at home. I’m heading back to DC and Poppy’s Bagels and Deli is my first stop. Don’t miss it.

Google
Pops has incredibly soft and fresh bagels, and they do the perfect amount of cream cheese on each one. Love coming here for our weekend breakfasts!

The staff are so nice, and the bagel sammies are fantastic!! At $7.50 for a build your own bagel sandwich, this is a steal. The place is super cute too!

Ugh, I wanted to love this place. Disappointed in what they call an “everything bagel” (see photo). It was flat and didn’t have much flavor. The chive cream cheese was wet and melted so it made my whole bagel even sadder.

I live in the building upstairs and used to love coming here, but ever since Aya left, it just hasn’t been the same. She brought great energy, knew my order by heart, and made every visit a great experience. The service now feels impersonal, and the overall vibe has changed. Disappointed to see such a great employee go—definitely a loss for the shop.

Google
Best bagels in DC hands down! And that’s coming from a New Yorker. They’re so fresh, chewy and light on the inside and a nice crunch on the outside. They put Call Your Mother’s rock hard molar-destroyers to shame.

Yelp
I've been walking by here for a while, and the smells coming from the bakery always smell so good. The bagels are made fresh and it definitely shows. I ordered the bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and it was amazing! The bagel was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. It he bacon could've been a tad crispier but despite that it was a perfect sandwich!

Yelp
These bagels are really unique. The bottoms have a croissant-y texture to them. I wish they had more than 4 options and that they had vegan cream cheese (Pop's, if you're reading this, make your own with tofu or do Tofutti or Kite Hill! Vertage that CYM carries kind of sucks, don't do that). Service is a bit slow (chalking that up to them being new).

Yelp
We came in today and were excited to try out Pop's and boy did it deliver. The storefront feels a bit underdone, but it's a nice industrial look and the staff were friendly. Service was slightly slow, but they were packed, which is always good for a new spot. Bagels were delicious! When we finished our meals, we wanted more. We certainly will be back! Welcome to the neighborhood, Pop's!

Yelp
I would like to start this review by saying that this is one of the most delicious bagels I have ever had. Crunchy on the outside, soft and pillowy on the inside: it was just perfection!! There was a bit of a line when we got to Pop's, but it went quickly. We waited about 10 minutes after ordering for our food. There isn't really inside seating, but there are some tables outside. The build your own sandwiches are about $10, which is my personal recommendation as opposed to the preset menu options. You can add sauce and a variety of vegetables on for no additional cost, resulting in a unique bagel you can't get anywhere else in DC! The toppings were fresh and complemented the fluffy egg well (I got pesto and roasted red peppers). They were out of bacon, which I would love to try. For me, the sausage was a little lackluster (thin and not very flavorful), but the deliciousness of the rest of the bagel more than made up for it. I am sure to become a Pop's regular, and can't recommend this place enough!!

Yelp
Promising options but our bagels were flavorless and falling apart. Super disappointed, wouldn't recommend.

Yelp
Great bagels! Pops is also a leading baker for brioche rolls (used especially by restaurants for burgers) and the bagels come across brioche-like. Not your typical NY style but these bagels are delicious on their own.

Yelp
These are honestly the best bagels I've ever had. They're fluffier than a standard bagel and sooooo delicious. It's a bit dangerous that this place is so close to my house.
