Yelp
A surprisingly delightful find in a not so delightful area of the city. Good shawarma is hard to come by in SF, for some reason. They really nail the basics here, with well-seasoned, tender, and high-quality meat. I tried the combo plate, which comes with chicken & beef/lamb shawarma, rice, pita, and a mix of diced tomatoes & lettuce. The highlight was the chicken, and while the beef was also tasty, next time I think I'd go with just the chicken since that seemed to be their specialty. Everything went really well with the toom (garlic dip), which I believe is homemade. The serving was a good value for the portion size, $19. I also tacked on a "side" of hummus, for an additional $2, which the owner did as a custom add-on. The hummus was interesting, and had a nutty flavor to it, which was different but also good. The owner i believe is Palestinian, and he clearly knows his stuff. This is most definitely a "hole in the wall" location, and unfortunately the neighborhood isn't great. I'd recommend either getting takeout or coming earlier in the day if you plan to dine in.
