Just had our family dinner here tonight. I first tried pork chop bubbas when they first opened the first location. And I have to say the food was bomb! Then a few years ago we tried it again and was disappointed. We also tried the location inside Sullys Chevron and was disappointed. So honestly I was excited to try this new location and name.
It was busy, along with other businesses around, but we didn't have trouble finding parking. They had a line out the door so we had to wait for 20-30 minutes to even place our order. It was disappointing to see that it wasn't to where you sit and someone comes and take your order. (But all of his locations were like this so I should have expected it). The sitting on the inside is cramped, and plenty of picnic tables on the patio. We sent the kids to sit at two tables since we were a party of 9. The girl who took our order and the girl who brought out our food was just okay. Don't know if it was a busy day or what but they seemed like they weren't enjoying what they do. Not very friendly at all.
Now on to the food. The portions were huge and the price was decent. My husband had the crack, side of tri tip and side salad. The crack was great. The blue cheese for the salad was good too. I had the 3 meat. Brisket, ribs, and hot links. My sides were Mac n cheese with baked beans. My husband thinks the brisket and tri tip taste the same. Honestly to me they didn't. But I will have to say the brisket was very dry and the tri tip tasted over cooked. I didn't care for the ribs, had to drench them in bbq sauce to cover whatever flavor was on them. Now, the hot link on the other hand, great flavor and the spice was just right! The Mac n cheese was okay, it was missing something. The baked beans tasted great, reminded me of my mom's baked beans, just missing the onion and bacon in them. I want to also mention you can get all the raw onions, pickles, and bbq sauce you want. But was disappointed when our food came out and there's no white bread! What?! You have to purchase it?! With what I just paid, you should give me a whole loaf! lol!! I'm sorry but if you can't afford to give a single piece of white bread to every meal then you shouldn't call yourself a bbq! I then tried my daughter's fried green tomatoes. One side was cooked just right and the other side was under cooked. All though it was soggy, it had a decent flavor.
I had mentioned to my husband that maybe the meat was dry and over cooked was maybe because they cooked everything this morning and here it is 5 o'clock, so the longer it sits there it continues to cook? Who knows?
I say go try for yourself and make your own opinions. But maybe go when everything's fresh and not so busy.
