Absolutely loved trying this place out! I've been wanting to come here for years but haven't been down this way! Well this week was our week and it was beyond our expectations, we loved all of our delicious items we brought and the price was great considering the amount we ordered. The steak pie, actually had real steak! The donuts were DELICIOUS and the pastry was on point. Will defineitly have to visit more often, so worth the drive. Well done to the beautiful team!

OMG beyond my expectations, wanna more and more. Best pastries. I love donuts of the month. We had a Dubai chocolate donut. Cheese kranzy was soooo delicious 🤤 My husband bought these for us when he worked near this place. So grateful to know the best bakery we have ever tasted.

This place has always been busy and we have been here several times. They have many friendly staff to serve therefore lines move quickly. 1hr away from Adelaide. Have always purchased donut of the month here but never knew the prices as the menu boards and all their products have no price tag therefore you won't know the total of what you're paying. I've always paid cash. I paid card today thinking I saw the sign as 1.2% card surcharge but on a $47 purchase (2 donuts, 1 cheese Kransky, 4 mini strawberry tarts) I paid 98c surcharge which equates to 2%. I know its not much but its the moral of charging correctly. I didnt want to hold up the line by asking for an invoice to see the cost break down but the staff never offered receipts regardless. Not only that, to our disappointment, the donut today was smaller than normal. The taste is average so don't get too hyped out by other reviews. However the pavlova theme was great balance in flavour and delicious!

Very famous local bakery. Their donuts are very sweet if you prefer them like that. Sausage rolls are very very good and a decent size. The eggs benny pie is also a great way to start your day. Be patient when visiting, as with this bakery’s popularity comes a requirement to queue.

We experienced a very long queue, but it moved quickly. The staff were really friendly. We tried the meat pie with rosemary and the donut. They were good, but not outstanding—I was expecting something more. Overall, it was just okay.

Can please extend this Mango Lassi or at least do an online order pick up! As these need to be an all year round item! 🙈😱 I can’t even with this. Not over the top sweet where I would buy boxes of these and never return to Krispy Kreme ever again!

The Port Elliot Bakery is a South Australian institution and one of my family’s absolute favourites. We make a point of visiting every time we're in the area. Their famous “Donut of the Month” is always a treat, loaded with creative toppings, rich fillings, and perfect presentation. It’s become a bit of a monthly tradition for us, and it never disappoints. Inside, the bakery is packed with a huge selection of pastries, slices, pies, sausage rolls, cakes, fresh breads, and drinks, so there’s something for everyone. I especially enjoy pairing my treat with a barista coffee or cold drink from their well-stocked fridge. Outside, there are plenty of bench seats and shaded areas where you can enjoy your food on the spot, a great spot to see whats happening in Port Elliot. Be warned though: this place is extremely popular. The line can stretch well down the street and around the corner during weekends or school holidays, a true sign of their quality and reputation. Despite the queues, the staff keep things moving efficiently and with a smile. Came in for a basic order, left questioning everything. The way he split the buns clean and slow, then gave the tops that firm little slap of oil… I swear I felt it. He looked up at me mid-prep, smirked, and said, “Don’t worry… I always handle them gently before I turn up the heat.” I nearly folded. Honestly? The perfect bakery. I’ll be back for more “freshly prepared” goodness.

I am just a visiter to this beautiful sea side community of Port Elliot in Australia. I was told by friends that this was the place to taste the local flavor. I was confused by the names of the menu items , but was able to read the description. I first tried a pasty. We do not have these in California or anything that compares to the flakey buttery crust with the delicious fillings. This meat pie was mouthwateringly good. Needless to say I went here a couple times during my visit. I was pleased to find out that this location is mom and pop run for over 20 years. The lines go out the door and down the street when everything is fresh. I was also told I needed to get the kitchnerbun for dessert. This was a huge pastry with whipped cream flowing out of the center. There were so many things to try in so little time. I finished off this treat with a coffee milk. ( see pictures) There isn't much parking, side streets are easiest. There isn't much dining room either, may I suggest the short walk to the picnic tables by the beach to enjoy your meal. The locals seem to just hang out outside and talk while they eat their meals. If I'm ever back in this area again, I will be dining here.

Ahhh, country bakeries why are you so darn good? I have friends who make sport out of visiting bakeries whilst in regional towns to sample their specialities and versions of old standards. It would be easily done if you could put aside the fear for you waistline! This is definately one of the good ones. They are supposedly famous for their pasties but having tried both - the sausage roll is really something else and absolutely huge! There is a little seating outside and some park benches nearby but it's definately no dine-in establishment. Perfect stop for hungry sufers and sunday drivers!

Now I know why everyone raves about the Port Eliot Bakery and their Chicken Parcels! After listening to our friends go on and on about the Port Eliot Bakery I went there a few weeks ago for the first time and had my usual choice; beef and mushroom pie. It was okay, good I guess, but not as good as I was expecting. Probably because: a) people hyped it up way too much b) living around the corner from Orange Spot Bakery means I'm spoiled when it comes to pies and pasties Everyone else (there were about 12 of us) loved their food. The pizzas were a particular favourite. I didn't try it, but it looked awesome and my husband said it tasted great. We went past the bakery again today and I had to drop back in. I was really hoping that my initial disappointment was simply a case of "great expectations...". This time I had the chicken parcel and it was fabulous! They put dried herbs into the pastry (which was deliciously flaky). That simple addition made the pastry smell and taste amazing. The filling was great, both the flavour and the texture. I would happily eat that any day of the week! The staff are friendly and efficient. Both times I went in there were plenty of staff working, which is always a big plus during the lunch-rush. There is a huge selection of food and drinks available. I think this will be my new lunch spot when I'm down the coast.

The Port Elliot Bakery is outstanding. Pies, sausage rolls, cakes and more. This bakery has a great reputation and is always so busy whenever I go past. Pies have won many awards at this bakery for creativity and original ingredient combinations. Pricing is more than fair and the staff are very friendly, even when they are under a lot of pressure from queues a mile long. I guess it is true when they say that this small bakery, that you could almost miss when driving down the road, is one of South Australia's best kept secrets (well except when everyone in Port Elliot is crowding around there for lunch). This bakery almost wants me to live in Port Elliot just so I can experience what a true bakery should be like everyday.

I was very much SURPRISED that the Port Elliot Bakery was not yet on Yelp, but maybe it was hiding when I was trying to check in. How is this possible? Well, now that has been changed, and regardless, it is here and ready to get more reviews! Hoorraaaaay! The Port Elliot Bakery has been a must-go-to every time I am down along the amazing coast between Encounter Bay and Goolwa. I mean, if you can even get past all the other great things of the Bay area. The Bakery is almost always with a line of people often out the door of folks keen to purchase goodies of savoury or sweet variety. Perhaps the line may cause you to consider driving past. Don't even consider it. Line up, because the line will be quick, and your tummy satisfied and full. Boasting all the goodies of a well catered bakery kitchen... pies, pasties, sausage rolls, quiches.... vanilla slices, donuts, bee stings... I mean, get your eyeballs and face holes ready to take in the delights and smells that come from such deliciousness! Because if theres anything my suggestion boats, its to suggest that you head to this bakery and a stop into it on the way down, visit while you are there, or when you are coming home from Port Elliott. Be like Nike, and just do it!

Port Elliot bakery has the reputation of doing the best pies around, and it's well founded. Aside from the standards of meat and mushrooms and onions and kidney and tomato in various combinations, they do things with lamb and rosemary, tandoori chicken, Thai green curry and pizza that literally confuse your senses - pies just shouldn't be this good, they should have at least one unidentified and best unknown form of meat in them, and they definitely shouldn't leave you feeling you've just dined somewhere with a waiter and a slightly snobbish guy at the front door. I should add I'm not a pie virgin that's never had a decent pie before - in fact, I was a regular at arguably the best pie shop in Australia, the Yatala Pie Shop in Queensland, so I do have a little grounding in what's a good pie - this place does a great job day in, day out, at making a spectacular range of food. On a weekend there's usually a queue, and on a long weekend in summer there'll be a long queue - but luckily they're both ready for that, and have the whole process down pat. There are plenty of sticky, sweet treats to follow up with, too. Parking nearby can be an absolute bitch - but then parking in Port Elliot is often a pain when everyone wants to be there at once... My recommendation is to park well down the street and have a stroll down, sampling the various other lovely shops in the area too, there are wonderful crafts on display, and some eclectic little collections of 'stuff' in all those little stores along the way. Port Elliot is an experience to be savoured, just like the pies.

I've been a big fan of the Port Elliot bakery for a long time. It meets my requirement that if you are having a calorie laden hit the pleasure has to be worth the necessary extra exercise. Convenient, then, that it was a 16km round trip on my bike to get to the bakery from where I was staying at Middleton (and a lovely bike track it is too) ... My bakery expertise is limited to the pasties and the donuts. With the pasties, its all about the pastry. All pastry should be this flaky, layered and light. The filling is good too - not to chunky, not too mulchy, just cubed, cooked vegies that offset a little bit of the pastry driven guilt. And the donuts? Well, no healthy offset there are all, but they are so different to the stale, generic lumps on offer from convenience stores and the like that they should really be called something else. They are big, they are fluffy, they come with sprinkles. I think chocolate edges out vanilla, but you should try both (possibly not on the same day!) and make your own informed decision. At lunchtime you'll queue, but it is definitely worth the wait. If you are in the area, plan to stop here! You won't regret it. No matter how many extra hours might be required later on at the gym :-)
