We had my mother's 85th birthday party here. From the beginning Sharon the event coordinator was so helpful and accommodating. She offered lots of ideas and made the planning part so easy. Our party was after hours so for a very reasonable fee-we had the whole place to ourselves. Sharon and Selina kept all of our guests happy and well served-especially making sure that the guest of honor was taken care of. (Did I mention that the wine and slushies are all fantastic?!) My mother smiled all night and will fondly remember this special time. We are so lucky to have such a special place in our community. Please don't hesitate to book an event here-you won't be disappointed!

I was very impressed by this little winery. Extensive selection of wines offered by the bottle, glass or flights of 3. Something for every palette. Highly recommend the Old Line Red. Can bring your own food or purchase a snack inside. Lovely place to spend an afternoon.

Great selection of wines. Slushie wines on those hot days. Staff was great. Nice seating area where live music plays some nights.

I am not a big wine drinker. My sister-in-law who lives in St. Mary's County suggested a visit while we were in town. I wasn't sure about it since we were traveling with our teenage sons. The boys actually enjoyed the visit and really liked the lawn Jenga. I wish I could remember his name, but the staff member who did our tasting was great. I really only like super sweet wines when I have wine. He customized the tasting especially for me. What he offered and suggested was spot on for my liking. Additionally he did two different tastings for the other 3 people in our party. Highly recommend. You could spend just a few minutes or a few hours. Of note, you are not visiting a huge vineyard, just a storefront offering tastings and an outdoor area to enjoy a glass or two of wine. The vineyards are a co-op of locally sourced grapes.

Stopped by with friends for wine tasting. For a Saturday it was an awesome experience. We ended up buying the Vidal Blanc and got some food from the food truck called Heidi’s Eats and Sage’s treats. Kailie who was our wine tasting expert was well cast about the every aspect of the wine we were tasting and made the experience a fun and educational one. They had live music playing and the overall atmosphere was just friendly and jazzed. I think I found a new place for my once a month wine treat. You will like this place.

Google
Such an awesome place! Went for the first time this Mother's day and was expecting a huge crowd but was pleasantly surprised. Customer service was on point. We showed up at opening time and there was plenty of shaded seating..although even if you show up later (and bring your own lawn chairs) you can definitely find shade. Bring your own food or stop at the food trucks they usually have (look on FB for posts). The wine/sushies were excellent! Live music was great and set an awesome vibe. Will definitely return to the public kayak launch for a relaxing float down a watershed of the Potomac River. Just an all around great celebration spot or weekend hangout!

Absolutely lovely tasting experience. The dry reds are marvelous and the port is one of the best I've ever had. The staff are friendly and attentive. Highly recommend! 🍾🍷

Yelp
Beautiful winery with a covered and heated area for the winter, and an open area for nice weather. The wine is fantastic, and has even won multiple State awards. They're pet friendly, and can even bring in your own food if you don't want to use the food truck (shows up certain times). They offer a club for locals who love their wine which offers discounts and quarterly bottles.

Yelp
Release tomorrow Leonardtown's wink at Bordeaux Port of Leonardtown winery A 2021 blend of three grapes all Maryland grown See the back of the label For Maryland this is probably considered a big wine. It's a home run. For me it says - France and California we are coming for you! I think there is only 60 cases after the wine club to sell. Yes I'm coming back to get my case I normally don't get behind a wine with a big endorsement Yet this one deserves it! Really impressed Share this post with your friends. Don't wait for it to be gone! V/r Rob

Yelp
I attended a retirement party at the winery. i tried a sampling of the wines, three (2 oz?) pours of three wines in glasses with a wrought iron glass carrier. I enjoyed the wines, and i would join if i lived locally. I asked some questions about their production and was very lucky to get to chat up the winemaker. The winery is a cooperative of local vineyards who is the source of the grape. The winemaker went to school in canada in viticulture and enology, and was very indulgent with an old guy asking questions. it sounded like there were opportunities for interested wine club members to help with the crush and bottling of each years vintage, making it all the more personal

Yelp
I came from the west coast and sold wine for a living. I can tell you that I didn't think MD would produce good wine and while I still feel like that's often the case, this winery is an absolute exception. Wonderful wine! So many unique varietals. The venue is beautiful, relaxed, and I love being a member here.

Yelp
This place is excellent! The girls at the counter here were so friendly and welcoming. The wine was delicious, and I even needed to buy some to take home. They had a live band playing some great tunes, and the location seemed dog/family-friendly. Such a great little gem! I will be back.

Yelp
Great winery buy by glass, bottle or taste test. Frozen slushy wines, activities, music and food truck. Allot of parking, seats or bring your own, corn hole, read, relax or play your own games. Trees, bees and river to walk.

Yelp
I'm going to cut right to it: the wine here is SWEET. Like, sticky sweet. I have been a few times and tried white, red, wines described as dry, and still found an unpleasant sweetness across each bottle. I don't think this is necessarily wrong, but I am a dry wine fan and was a bit disappointed to find a lack of options away from the sugary. If you are looking for dry wines or more of a variety, this may not be the top location. That said, this is a cute place in SOMD where there aren't a lot of wineries available. It is nice to see a winery pop up around here! We have brought our own picnics and had a great time looking out over the Macintosh Run. While the wine may not be my favorite, it is a nice environment that I enjoy being in. I hope to see the expansion of their selection in the coming years, with a few more options for us dry fans.

Yelp
Always a great place to visit and one of our favorite spots to bring visitors! Today we are enjoying wine slushies- mimosa, red sangria, and non alcoholic watermelon. Perfect cold, refreshing drinks on a hot July afternoon.

Yelp
Love love love this winery. I have been here at least three times already this year and will be going twice next month. The staff is so friendly courteous nice and very helpful. The wine is delicious. I am running out of room on my wine rack lol

Yelp
Seriously, one of our favorite places. They are so welcoming and nice. They have everything from sweet fun wines to serious dry wines. Lots of variety with food trucks, or you can bring your own food. The enclosed patio has heaters if the weather is cool, and they are pet friendly. During our last visit with our two corgis, the staff was so welcoming and friendly, and even gave little dog treats to our fur babies. We will continue coming back, not just for the service and ambience, but for the wide variety and high quality of their wine.

Yelp
Comfortable atmonphere, excellent service, and wine from local grapes. I had a great time even though I went alone. The wine tasting was tasty and interesting. The staff was attentive and helpful, even though I was a senior, low vision, and in a wheelchair. A senior staff offered to make a food run to a Jamaican Grill caterer in a trailer, in the rain, to accodomate me. This will now become a monthly spot to take a break. They are open 12 months a year.

Yelp
Nice little winery in L-town. Kind of hidden behind a gas station though. Did the wine tasting. You get 8 basic wines in a tasting. The wine menu is pretty varied. There is a fridge where it can buy cheese and crackers. You can also bring your own food. Casual vibe. Laid back and relaxed. Recommended stop in Leonardtown.

Yelp
This winery was the perfect place to stop on a hot afternoon. We had delicious rosé slushees, which I would highly recommend when it's 85 degrees out. We also did a tasting. Paul, who did our tasting for us, was extremely knowledgeable and gave us a lot of interesting info about the wines we were trying. The price ($5) for a tasting was more than reasonable and we really enjoyed our wines and our visit here!

Yelp
This place caught our eye driving down to Saint Mary's City so we stopped on the way back. Some thoughts: Wine: *You can pay for a tasting of a subset of the wines they offer. The tasting is in a screened gazebo during COVID times. My husband and father did the tasting, I opted out because half of the wines were sweet wines and I don't like sweet wines. Hubs also said it was impossible to hear the tasting notes because the live music was so loud. That said, they liked one of the reds and 2 of the whites (tasting size was 6) *Sauv Blanc: I skipped the tasting and went right to a bottle of sauv blanc. I was a fan! A crisp, smooth drinking wine. It doesn't have the minerality that makes New Zealand SB's special, but as a local variety, thumbs up. Atmosphere: *Despite being located next to a busy 2 lane road, this was a relaxing place to hang out. There is a small creek nearby and enough of a tree canopy in the distance to feel relaxing. There was a live musician, she was actually quite good but the music was WAY too loud. I had to shout across the table at my parents and as mentioned earlier they couldn't hear their tasting. Food: *I didn't specifically ask, but I saw that others BYOF (and some BYOChairs) and this seemed acceptable. Inside the winery you can buy a hormel meat/cheese/crackers set and they had a vendor out front who was selling snacks (my mom bought and loved the nachos). Would be nice to see a more elevated charcuterie offering. All in all, this was an enjoyable experience and I'd like to try more of their wine.

Yelp
I got a Groupon for here for my friend for her birthday and we finally were able to make it in. After driving over an hour, we were extreme excited to try the wine here but it was just extremely disappointing. The main reason for the bad experience was the fact that the lady who served us seemed like she had absolutely no interest in helping us and it seemed like more of a hassle for her than anything. The wine was mediocre and the pours were barely less than a sip. The first four we tasted reminded me of a cheap wine like a barefoot. I did like the apple wine, it was different and had a mix of wine and cider. Over all I definitely feel like this was a waste of my time and money and really hope the other Maryland winery's are better.

Yelp
I have been going to the Port of Leonardtown Winery for a couple of years now. I've always loved the wine, the people and the fun atmosphere even though it takes me over an hour to get there. I have also recommended it to many people. We love you Port of Leonardtown Winery BUT not today! We got dressed up for Halloween, and decided to go to our favorite winery (you)! We were so, very, VERY disappointed! Instead of doing wine tastings inside at the bar, we were asked to go outside to a small (and I mean small) table right next to tables people were sitting at. It was an unusually warm day for October and the wine outside was barely cool so you were sweating while drinking it too! There was no fan near the tasting table. On top of that, we had people behind us waiting for their tastings. The tasting was so rushed that I couldn't even remember which wine tasted good and what was what! It was an awful experience and turned what was supposed to be a day of great wine and fun into wondering what we just did and totally brought us down!! We didn't even feel like drinking wine by the time we were done. Such a shame when we were so excited about coming. Please, PLEASE put the wine tastings back inside where it's cooler and more people can do them at one time. Also, how about some more fans outside when it's hot. People would drink more wine if they weren't sweating so bad!

Yelp
This was a very cool laid back winery You get to select from a list of wine tasting from dry to sweet. I do believe we tried 6 to 8 tasting. We are not that much into dry wine but more info semi sweet. So we started there. Also tried the Specialty wines They also had different types of chocolate for purchasing. @$2.00 a pop. We purchased 8. Omg the chocolate was so smooth. It paired very well with the wine and my favorite was the orange sherbert. They have outdoor seating with entertainment on the weekend. If you're a local l could definitely see this place becoming a weekend event. It was raining but we still enjoyed the outdoor seating which is very nice and well protected from the rain and sun. I would definitely return here again and l understand some people had the Groupon special. Nice way to save as well. This was included as part of our Adventure Tour. No regrets here.

Yelp
A friend took me to Port Of Leonardtown as a birthday gift. I was sick when we originally planned to go but that doesn't pertain to this review so let's digress. We went in and waited a bit for one of the tasting room associates to acknowledge us and hopefully oblige us. One finally did and she let us know from the get go what would be included and what would not be included. She definitely appeared to be having a cruddy day however because we literally got the minimum from her. Nothing more and probably less...she ran through the tastes and flavors within the wine and what they would be best accompanied with. No room for interjections from us, my friend wanted to ask a few things but she really wasn't in the mood to do so. She was helping other customers as they were coming in the door as well. So for that I understand her being overwhelmed, however I do not understand not having someone else help. There were about two other associates that could have done more to aid and did not. The actual wines were okay. Two of their wines won best in Maryland for the first and 2nd spots. They have an alright dessert wine that isn't sickeningly sweet which I was delighted about. It was not my favorite but it did do justice to dessert wines. It being used for their sangria as the base isn't something I personally would suggest but it works for them. We were allowed to try 8 wines. I should say that those were not adequate pours and I understand tastings are not a full serving or even 1/4. What I am shedding light on is the splurt from the posi-pours that dribbled out less than a thin liquid sheet coating only the bottom of the cup. It was as if someone drank a glass put the cup down, and all the left over droplets that didn't get consumed gathered together and were served to us to taste. That's the amount I'm referring to. I was disappointed to say the least. But I will admit, I didn't speak up because I wanted to know if it was gonna be a one off or if it was going to persist the whole tasting. The latter unfortunately was the case. Also she didn't rinse our glasses in between wines 1-6. She did rinse on the 7th and 8th wines however. We recieved a free wine of our choice and my friend decided to buy another wine. We also were able to keep our cups. I want to believe it was just an off day for the associate and nothing more. I would give it another chance but I am not currently in the mood to drive an hour 30 again to deliver the benefit of doubt just to try again. I am proud we have wines in MD winning awards, I'll just smile from afar.

Yelp
Nice property with live music and a food truck on specific days. Good selection of wines. Wine slushes available. Slushes were a little too sweet for me but a fun alternative. Kids can enjoy non- alcoholic drinks. Snacks are available as well. Pet friendly also. Great outdoor space for warmer weather

Yelp
While visiting family they decided to take us here since they are members. Bob our tasting sommelier was amazing. We went with the red wines. Every one was great in their own ways. Bob was extremely knowledgeable about the wines we were tasting and able to answer the questions we had. Since my family was part of their club we were able to sample the Macintosh run as well. Holy moly that was amazing. Made from apples not grapes. Almost a cider but made in a wine style. A must stop for wine lovers. Nestled into the town a perfect stop for the day. Bring your own snacks if you are planninG or making a day of it. Ask for Bob he is great!

Yelp
We love this place. They have very good wine and the staff are very knowledgeable about what you're having. It's a great atmosphere to relax and enjoy the day.

Yelp
The friendliest of staff and a wonderful wine master who is making a name for herself. Insist on trying the Barbera and Chambourcin wines... Say what you will about Maryland wines...This group is going to change your mind, guaranteed!

Yelp
My brother who is a member of this Winery took us for a tasting. The wines were all delicious! We came in and were lucky to be the only ones doing a tasting. After the tasting we got a full tour of the facility. Seeing where the do the magic is really cool. We got to meet the owner/wine maker and talk with her about her wines. They buy local grapes to make many of their wines and while we were doing our tour one of the growers was delivering his grapes. We even posed for some pictures the winery was taking for their brochure. The winery has a large location and would be great for a picnic prior to or after doing a tasting and procuring a bottle to enjoy while you are there. Looking forward to another visit soon!!!

Yelp
We had Eve introduce us to this co-op. Best kept secret!!! I've never been somewhere where I could drink every wine I tasted. Also, the first time I went home with a case of wine!! They have a great staff and location. Super kid- and dog-friendly!!! Support LOCAL! It's almost good enough to move north to this area.... almost:) But, definitely worth stopping by if you are driving through the area or close to the area!! You won't be disappointed! (The wines are all named after local spots:)

Yelp
Great wines. Loved the apple wine, MacIntosh Run. The port amazing. Nelson an awesome pourer.
google avatar

Yelp
Southern Maryland is a beautiful part of the state and if you find yourself there I'd recommend a stop at Port of Leonardtown Winery. The Winery is a co-op, so on any given day you'll be served by someone who makes the wine or grows the grapes. Quite communal. Rebecca was very helpful and helped us select a case. I mixed some of the Vidal Blanc (their BEST WINE, by far) with their Captain's Table red. Both were wonderful. They also feature some off-dry wines for those who prefer more residual sugar.
google avatar

Amanda B.

Yelp
There may not be a vineyard for you to feast your eyes upon but there is plenty of wines to wet your palette. This unique winery is actually a co-op of about 18 local Maryland farms that came together to hire a winemaker and the wine you try here is the result of the fruits of their labor. Locals supporting locals, the true meaning of local pride, and they should be proud because the wines created from their bounty are absolutely lovely and all around delicious!!! My favorites were the Reserve Chambourcin and Reserve Petit Verdot. I can't believe how full-bodied and flavorful these were, the color on both was exquisite, the nose on both had me closing my eyes and drinking it in through its aromas alone. WoW! Seriously, the winemaker is talented, especially with a grape as a tough as Chambourcin which I have found is usually quite muddy and harsh... but Port of Leaonardtown's Chambourcin is magic! The building isn't much to look at from outside but it's warm and homey, exactly what you expect from a wine tasting room. There is even a window with a view to see into the area where all the magic happens with the grapes. I believe Kelly was my pourer and she was bubbly, energetic, and just full of knowledge. I truly enjoyed the experience. Only Recommendation: Have photos on the walls of each of the farms within the co-op for customers/visitors to reference and to learn more about each. It makes it all seem more real or at least it would to me. A must try/visit when exploring the Southern Maryland Wine Trail!

Yelp
Port of Leonardtown Winery was a hidden gem that we found while heading to a pumpkin patch. It operates as a co-op for several southern Maryland vineyards. In the past, I have not found Maryland wines to be outstanding (fruity wines are good but the others are too vinegary or watery). This winery has done a great job at assembling tasty wines. The reds were all good, especially the Captains Table and Petit Verdot. Wine tastings are $5 without a souvenir glass or $7 with one. The shop wasn't too busy. There is a nice outside patio that we used for a picnic with friends. Stop by and give it a try if you have a chance!

Yelp
We had our daughters wedding reception at the winery and it was great. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. It was perfect for the intimate venue we were looking for. The evening under the stars was amazing with the lights and fires going.

Yelp
A newly renovated taste room - beautiful! An excellent outside seating area under an enclosed canopy, or further outside in the sunshine. They offer a very nice selection, sure to please everyone. The staff is very pleasant and answers your questions, and will assist you with wines, that will compliment your preferences. They recently started growing grapes right on the property. Mmm Vines to Wines folks! You can enjoy music entertainment, usually scheduled on weekends. You can bring kids and pets as well (but keep in mind it's an adult gathering spot.) You can pack a nice picnic and bring it with you. Look into becoming a club member and stick around. It's definitely a fun/relaxing spot to hang and enjoy!

Yelp
One of my top 3 Maryland wineries. Runs a touch sweet, but recent releases like the Old Line Red are an exceptional addition to dinner or your post-rough-day recovery. Cheeses and snacks available, ample covered and uncovered seating with occasional live music, and dedicated parking lot. Within walking distance to watercraft rental, river, and an antique shop--but best used as a stop on the way to other venues or events in St.Mary's.

Yelp
My first time at Port of Leonardtown Winery and I'm glad I came. I was in the Pax River/California, Maryland area and decided to visit a local winery. This was rated #1 in the area and about 7miles from my hotel. Upon arrival, on a gloomy day, no other customer was present but Stephanie was very helpful and answered all my questions. I paid $10 to taste 8 wines to include both red and white/semi-sweet and sweet. I was amazed that such delicious wines are made in Maryland. I truly enjoyed them all. Stephanie patiently explained that the (8) wine options change weekly but several choices are available for purchase by the glass or bottle. I wish there were food service so I could sit and enjoy a glass or two more wines but I left with bottles which I know I'll thoroughly enjoy. Definitely plan to return.

Yelp
I had really high hopes for this place. Its in between our home and our friends so we were thinking this would be a great place to meet on the weekends. Unfortunately on my visit this past Saturday to the Rosé all day event, I found the staff to be surprisingly rude. The wine was ok a but too dry for my taste but other selections they offered would have kept us coming back. That day they did offer a very tasty watermelon lemonade sangria. I would have loved to share that with my friends but I don't think we could tolerate the rude attitude served with it. With the various options consumers have I would think customer service might matter. To me it really does make the difference.

Yelp
PoL Winery is fantastic and the Vidalacato is my all time favorite wine (I enjoy most of their sweeter offerings). There is an indoor tasting room and a covered patio right outside. There's a small park nearby and a spot to launch a kayak (they can be rented by a local company). They have live music most weekends and they sell some cheeses and crackers, but don't mind if you bring your own food.
google avatar

Virgil P.

Yelp
Great place to hangout have a glass of wine with some friends. If it's the weekend maybe a pitcher of there amazing sangria. Great atmosphere to hangout outside and enjoy wine with friends.

Yelp
Soooo...yeah...about that wine snobbery...I'm not so good at it. I like wine. I like it cheap and I like it expensive. I like to drink so much wine that I can no longer taste it and therefore no longer tell the difference. So perhaps my review doesn't mean anything to anybody, but I'm writing it anyway. I liked Port of Leonardtown Winery. I liked it because, by a stroke of luck, a fresh batch, gaggle, group, parliament, whatever you call a large number of grapes, came in as we were there and we got to see some processes that we otherwise wouldn't know about. I liked the way the wine tasted....as I do most wines...I liked that it was a beautiful day and I liked that I was getting tipsy in the sun. I liked that the canoe livery was right next door and I got to hop from winery to canoe in a matter of seconds. What I didn't like about it was that it wasn't your average, beautiful scenery, fields and fields of grapes, place to have your wedding winery. So if you're not into all of that pretty, birds singing, sun shining over the hilly fields crap and you really just want to get down to business and taste some local wine, this place is for you! If you're planning a wedding, also consider this place....but you may have to walk the bride down a gravel driveway and throw rice at the new couple's "just married" canoe as they paddle their way to Breton Bay. Just sayin.

Yelp
We drove from the DC area to the winery, as we had a Groupon. This was our first venture to the Southern tri-country area of Maryland. The drive seemed a little long, but it's the same as going to the Loudon area from where we live. There were a lot of farms and even an Amish settlement along the way. Seeing it was fall, there were a lot of little roadside stands set up, selling pumpkins and the like. We arrived at the winery, and there were two staff members who were busy with customers. At first, it took a second to get settled in and start on our tasting, but this is understandable, seeing they were wrapping up other clients. As another Yelp reviewer mentioned, the winery is a co-op, so the farmers can be the ones serving you your tasting. This happened for us, and it made it more interesting to have the grape grower doing your tasting with you. I'm not too much of a wine snob, so take my reviews of the wines with a grain of a salt. I like reds; I like sweet; and I like Chambourcin and Cabs, to be specific. All of the wines went down well - very smooth. The Whites: I even enjoyed the whites (particularly, the 1634 Chardonnay, the McIntosh Run, and the Breton Bay Breeze). The McIntosh Run goes down dangerously smooth. We bought a bottle of it, seeing it seemed 'seasonal,' and wouldn't you know, it's 25 percent off! We bought a whole bottle of local wine for $10.50 - that's basically unheard of in Northern Virginia! The Autumn Frost was a good dessert wine. The reds were also good. We ended up buying the Chambourcin (their biggest seller) and the Captain's Table (a smoky red that was pretty interesting). Both bottles at full price were still priced lower than Northern Virginia wines . The wines vary from about $14 on up to $26 for their premium wines. The staff was friendly. The indoor tasting area was nice. The outside patio wasn't quite like siting in the mountains in Northern Virginia, but nonetheless, it was nice to sit outside with a glass of a wine on their patio. The patio was kept up well with pretty flowers. I did subtract one star for location, and wish i could only subtract a half, as it isn't something they can really control. There is a park adjacent to the winery, so you can take a walk along the creek there. It was an enjoyable 5 to 10 minute walk. Also, they do kayaking/wine trips, if you're interested. It was nice to explore a new place, and visit a winery. I can't comment on their tasting fees, seeing we had a Groupon. The Groupon included 11 tastings for two people, the glasses (no one lets you keep these anymore!), and a bottle of wine. I think she had mentioned to another client that they had 6 tastings for $5, but don't quote me. Again, if you're in the area, don't miss it. Or, even if you want to take a day trip out of the city, I highly recommend it. There's a state park on the tip of the peninsula with Civil War History, some family 'fall harvest' farms, beaches, seafood, etc.

Yelp
A friend had a Groupon and I was the lucky chosen one to go on this little adventure from NoVa. I've never been to a winery and know as much about wine as I do about Maryland... the bare minimum. After about an hour and a half of driving, we finally made it. It was really busy because, like many others that bought a Groupon, we decided to wait until the last weekend to use it. Once we got the tasting going, it was an awesome experience. We tried every single wine on the list that had a pretty good variety of Whites, Reds and Rosé. The guy serving us was super friendly and incredibly informative. Though it was slightly information overload so I don't really remember much... but I think the wine is a little bit to blame for that too. Overall, most of the wines tasted great and the service was excellent. It was a great experience that I would recommend to everyone, even those who aren't frequent wine drinkers like me. Don't have too many expectations though, there's not much of a scenery.

Yelp
I went in for a weekend wine tasting. Live music all Saturday afternoon, and $7 to try 6 wines and keep the glass. I didn't own any wine glasses, and now I do. I also got dragged into taking home a bottle of my girlfriend's top pick. I'm completely new to the world of wine, but it seemed amazing that they had a listing of 12 or so wines to their name. Along with my six selections, I also had a brief synopses given to me by a friendly hostess. The flavor of each one is much more complex and full than the cheap bottles and boxes I've tried before. It's shocking and eye-opening.

Yelp
Outstanding! I was totally blown away by the quality of the wines produced. The wine maker is an artist when it comes to blending local grapes into great wine. Enjoyed tasting the multiple varieties of wine.

Yelp
The wines were decent; however, the staff were less than friendly. The manager gave us dagger looks the moment we walked into the tasting room. Their customer service could use some work.

Yelp
Purchased a Groupon for the winery. Was an hour an half drive from Alexandria, VA...but worth it. I really liked about half of the selection and the other half was either ok it was not for me. I enjoyed the white wines more than the red. WILL BE GOING BACK TO BUY MORE! Only down side is that they are new and can't ship outside of Maryland yet...no biggie though.

Yelp
The only good wine in southern Maryland. Heaps better than those other 2 wineries. $7 tasting of 10 wines, buy a bottle or two and enjoy out on the lawn. There are shaded tables, and patio games for the kids. Wines run to the sweet side, but that's just how Maryland wines are. This is a perfect date for mom and dad without having to get a sitter.

Yelp
Small but very nice selection of wines. My wife just got some Christmas gifts and the ladies working where very friendly and helpful. Very informative.

Yelp
I discovered this winery at the Maryland Vintage & Wine Festival held at National Harbor this past summer. My family and friends really enjoyed their selection of wines and were happy to find that the venue was on Groupon. The Groupon we purchased was for four wine tastings, four souvenir glasses and two free bottles up to $20 each. I read the fine print and it had no restrictions nor any black out dates. It had the hours of operation listed which my family, friend and I took note of. We planned the visit for several weeks and ended up going this past Saturday when the weather was perfect. We got there during business hours however upon arrival it happened to land on their Grape Stomping Festival. We live in Virginia about 1.5 hours away from the winery and explained to the staff and manager that we didn't know about the event and it was not listed on the Groupon that they were "closed" to the public and that they would not honor the Groupon. The manager told us the event was planned for several months and it was posted on their facebook but we don't live in that area to follow their page religiously. You would think an important event like this would be included in the fine print on the Groupon site. The manager informed us we could get the $10 tickets to enter the event and purchase the wines, their promotional beer and sangria but we just wouldn't receive the tasting tickets unless we purchased the $20 per person tickets. We decided that we'll just do the $10 tickets to enter and purchase wine and other drinks. The manager proceeded to give us the purple bands for entrance and green bands to show we were of age to drink. They had to check our coolers to make sure we did not have outside drinks. One of the security persons made a joking remark while checking my cooler and asked "It's just food, no drugs in here, right?" Which I thought was extremely inappropriate to ask a customer. However, this was just the beginning of our disappointing experience. When we got to the tasting room we wanted to try one of the wines before purchasing bottles but then was told that it was illegal to serve us a tasting in the wineglass during a festival and that we must have the orange festival plastics cup to drink or try anything. We told the staff helping us that we didn't get the cups and they told us all customers should've received the cups. One of the staff members then told us she would go grab the cups for us but took a long time to return. When she did come back she had four Dunkin Donuts cups for us and not the festival cups. Where they even got those cups is a mystery to us. The staff member then told us that the cups could only be used for wine and we couldn't participate in purchase of any of the beer or sangria only if we had the orange cups which was conflicting information that we received from the manager. At this time we started to get impatient that there was no accommodations made what so ever. We asked for our $10pp entrance fee because it would've been a huge ordeal and hassle to try to purchase anything from this winery. I felt extremely signaled out. I was super excited to visit the winery and left highly disappointed. I was turned off and didnt want to make any type of purchases and give them any business. My family, friend and I were prepared to buy several bottles for consumption and to take home since we live so far away. However, the Dunkin Donut cups were definitely insulting. We ended up at Running Hare Winery and had an amazing experience. Running Hare had a true experience of a winery ambiance and also served beer, frozen sangria, and pizzas on a regular basis compared to Port of Leonardtown Winery which was located next to a shopping plaza. Just an odd placement. Definitely would not return.

Yelp
IThe wine is very good, the customer service was par. This winery could have earned 5-stars with a more personable staff. She was knowledgeable about the products but not very talkative (maybe just a bad day?). The Groupon was easily a good value. In this Groupon there are 6 different selections from a list of 20 (or more) wines. Plus, once complete you get to choose any bottle valued at under $20 and keep the glassware you use in your tasting. Date of visit was Sept 8th - mid atfernoon.

Yelp
Greatest winery in all of Leonardtown. Second to Slac winery. Great music. It would be nice if they had food trucks.

Yelp
Same with what Angela said. I understand you all probably get very busy on Saturdays and we arrived around 5 pm so I'm sure you all were tired and worn out. However, you all could try a little bit harder to work on making people feel like their business is wanted. Being a teacher, there are days when we are tired and not enthusiastic but it's a business and having a not so polite personality towards customers can ruin the experience. Have always loved coming here but the employees need to lighten up.

Yelp
My husband and I took a trip to Solomon's Island for Memorial Day and stopped by Port of Leonardtown for a tasting. The service was surprisingly terrible! The staff was incredibly unfriendly, and unpleasant. There were 3 women behind the counter when we walked in and not one of them greeted us. Even after my husband said hello, we still weren't greeted. Mind you, there weren't any other customers in the winery at the time. Once we were finally served, the wine wasn't good at all. It was an extremely disappointing experience. I recommend the Solomon's Island Winery.
