Portal Tea Company

One of my favorite tea shops in portland. Located on the second floor of a historic old building, they have a very large selection of loose teas and such to purchase at reasonable prices as well as offering a quiet air conditioned place to sit and enjoy one of the many tea offerings. Relaxing and enjoyable environment and shop.

Currently sitting at Portal Tea Co and felt the need to immediately post a review. Super aesthetic, amazing teas and 5 star pastries (shout out to the cheddar scones!). Highly recommend!

I went in with my daughter recently and was helped by a girl with brown hair I believe I heard her name was Jenna. She was super unwelcoming and inconsiderate. I took my daughter here because she loves teas and was so excited for this. Jenna was just not kind to either of us regardless of how excited we clearly were. The drinks were good pastries were stale and customer service was TERRIBLE. I’m deeply disappointed in this businesses decision to hire and/or keep this employee. I truly don’t understand why she’s working in such a cute shop with such a nasty attitude.

The perfect atmosphere for a nice cup of tea and a great conversation. There are journals on every table that have random drawings, questions, quotes, lists, and ideas that are super fun to flip through and add to. The vibe is great and I felt so calm. You also get so much bang for your buck! I spent less than $10 for so. much. tea. There is a vast variety of tea choices and it leaves you wanting to come back and try them all.

This cozy tea bar on the second floor is a great spot to relax. The surrounding neighborhood is full of interesting shops, adding to the experience. The tea bar itself has multiple rooms, providing a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The staff are super friendly. We tried the oolong tea which was okay, though we would have preferred a bit more sweetness. They also have drinks for kids without caffeine. They can pick from a variety of flavors and toppings. They really enjoyed their choices and drinks. Overall, it's a pleasant place to visit, especially with kids.

We go here all of the time! My kids love their bubble tea and I love their house made chai. I also love getting loose leaf tea as they have over 100 types of tea. They introduced me to the “Red Bull of green tea”— Guayasa and it’s the best. The ambience is very nice inside and their covered balcony is perfect

they have so many of my favorite teas! the blueberry creme is delicious and their genmaicha is my daily go-to. now that i live out-of-state i place orders a few times a year and they always throw in extra samples for me. this last order they were SO generous with their measurements! thanks portal tea co 🥰🫖

I really hate to do this as I've been coming here forever but I went yesterday and it was a tipping point for me. Recently the service has gotten worse and worse (I used to work around the block from them so was in regularly). They would mess up my drinks about half the time. Cold tea when I wanted hot, boba when I didn't want any, or forgetting the sugar and honey im my chai. I would just deal with it since I was on break and had to run back to work, but today was different. I went to order 3 teas 2 in a tumbler one not all the same thing black milk tea no boba. I confirmed multiple times with the person working counter I wanted 3 teas and they said it back to me. So I payed and tipped thinking nothing of it. They then brought me my two tumblers and when I asked about my 3rd tea they told me that I only gave them two tumblers so they only made 2 teas and only charged me for 2 teas. They then said they would bring me another. I went up to the counter after a bit just to check on it and they hadn't started it or put the order in at all because they were waiting for me to come up to pay. I did wind up paying because I didn't want to have a confrontation about it. They also said they would print the receipt to let me see that I only payed for 2 they did print it but then just briefly held it across the counter from me before throwing it away and never let me actually check it. They were also rude during this whole interaction as it i was inconvenienceing them. They did then eventually have someone make the tea but if you can't even put the order in right while you are confirming it with the person maybe take a moment and check if you are actually okay to be at work that day. Again if this was a one time thing I would brush it off as I don't like conflict and I do like this tea shop. This was unfortunately just a breaking point for me. I really hope the service improves again eventually cause I would like to go back but right now I feel it would be a waste of money as its a 50% chance my order is wrong. Also upset I had to pay both time and money for their mistake.
