"This Creole Italian spot draws a loyal crowd for dishes like parmesan crusted eggplant, turtle soup and veal parm with pasta. Porter & Luke’s is family friendly, with a kid’s menu, po-boys and platters of fried seafood rounding out the menu. Casual and inviting, the restaurant is many a locals’ fave." - Beth D'Addono

The wait staff were very professional, courteous and attentive. Coming by often enough to be engaged without the detracting from our meal. The turtle soup was the meatiest I've ever had! Perfectly seasoned and a generous amount of soup! The fried eggplant is a great appetizer. Lightly breaded with a wonderful thick red sauce. The catch of the day was red fish. Since it did not come with a sauce we asked for it to be served with the sauce that accompanies the fried soft shell crab I highly recommend anyone that orders Seafood from them to also add the sauce from the fried soft shell crab as a perfectly compliments the seafood and they typically do not serve a sauce with their fish. The only reason for marking the atmosphere down it is very loud with just a few people . please install some sound deadening baffles so the people can enjoy themselves much more

We made reservations on the Open Table app and we were seated promptly at our arrival and greeted with a smile by a friendly host. Our server arrived to our table almost immediately after we were seated and took our order and brought us waters. The establishment appeared to be clean although the seating is slightly cramped and outside of the various frantically placed artwork the ambiance is quite bland. Our food was made fresh to order and hot! The food was amazing!!! The friend chicken was crispy although not the most flavorful although the po boy was perfect! This place may lack in aesthetics yet the food is superb! Will definitely recommend and return.

Google
a lot of people had recommended this restaurant so we decided to check it out for lunch. Positives are the great service - we had great service but generally all around the service and attention to the older patrons was amazing. we started off with the onion rings which were decent. we then got the small house, trout almandine, and the eggplant parmesan. the house salad was decent, the accompanying dressing was really good; the trout was big in size and had a good crust but the fish and flavor were bland, and accompanying were green beans and potatoes which tasted like breakfast potatoes; good portion size but a bit bland. the eggplant parm was decent but the flavoring was bland and the eggplants were smaller (there are other places who make the sauce better and bigger eggplants) overall, great service with decent portion food but bland

Google
Wonderful neighborhood spot. We’ve eaten there many times, and always were pleased. Lots of parking, nice, clean, friendly, interesting menu and really good appetizers. Don’t miss the blue crab dip. We’re going back soon.

Great local Italian place. Brittany our server was knowledgeable and very friendly. The hot crab dip was the best. All of the food was fresh and delicious. We recommend this place for a great time. Also the poker machines paid out when we played.

Party of 5 celebrated Father’s Day at Porter and Luke’s on Sunday. Kinda quiet in the late afternoon. Server was attentive but spoke very, very fast so we had to ask him to repeat a lot. Turtle soup was tasty but lukewarm. Crab dip delicious. Needed more bread. We didn’t get bread at our table, do they still do that? Combo seafood platter very good although the fries were under fried. Fish special was tasty, the pasta was good but sauce was a little scarce. Soft shell crab was delicious. Veal and pasta was delish. Caesar salad with chicken was Ok. Everyone enjoyed their desserts (ice cream and bread pudding). Wines good. Overall it was a nice time at a relatively reliable, friendly neighborhood joint. But they really need to dim the harsh lighting!

Google
The food and service were 2nd to none. All the food was made of fresh ingredients, you can tell. All the servers showed New Orleans hospitality. We had a great experience and will be back. We had the hot crab dip, gumbo, chicken parm and the red velvet do Berge cake. All were phenomenal. I recommend anyone visiting to make a stop there.

Google
Great location for group events up to 50 people. Prix fixe menu comes with zucchini sticks and famous crab dip, with choice of soup or salad, main course of fish of the day, Sofia Lasagna or veal and dessert.

Yelp
My dinner of egg plant and seafood over pasta with a cream sauce was amazing . Will definitely return ! The only issue my paying cash and waiting to get my change returned. I was told to see the bar tender and he had no idea what I was talking about. Eventually the server gave it to me after I walked around awhile looking for her !

Yelp
I really want to like this place as I have given this place at least three chances and the food is just flavorless. I thought the alcohol could salavage the medicore food, but the cocktails were dissappointing as well. The last time we dined here was during Mardi Gras and they had the fun Mardi Gras themed cocktails. I love themed food/drinks and I just decided to give this place one more shot. We came for brunch. I ordered the fried chicken benedict. I think this could be the most bland fried chicken, zero spices, not even any pepper on this chicken. The eggs were cooked properly, but hollandaise needed more lemon, perhaps. The side potatoes were decent, probaly needed more salt. Its just missing basic flavors. The food here is more in line with what you get at a hospital, where they are purposely trying to keep seasonings out of the food for patients sake. On to the cocktail... the drinks were just potent and not tasty. Mardi Gras cocktails are supposed to be fun and tast good and I just tasted gasloine. I love the location, the parking, the prices, the spaciousness in the restaurant, and the service is impecable. I just wish they would train their chefs on basic flavor profiiles. I may give them a fourth try if that happens.

Yelp
This was on my Brunch Bucket list and it did not disappoint. The staff weee so friendly and our waiter extremely attentive. Bottomless mimosas were and A+ for there champagne/juice ratio. (I like mine more champagne than juice). We had the Blue Crab dip appetizer that was one of the best appetizers that I've had. Sorry I forgot a picture. Two of us had the chicken and waffles which were so delicious and the price so very reasonable. My friend had the soft shell crab platter that was huge and very good. Dessert was a huge piece of chocolate cake and Spumoni ice cream! Yumm!!! I liked that they had a dining room with a big screen tv playing the Saints even though they lost. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
4.5 stars! Service was fine! Our waiter was really nice. Our entrees were pretty solid! I had the Eggplant Sophie and my cousin had Pecan Crusted Catfish. I really enjoyed my pasta. It was nicely seasoned and the eggplant medallions were fried to absolute crunchy perfection. The pasta was also cooked to perfection. My cousin had the pecan crusted catfish, which was tasty as well. The fish could've used a bit more seasoning or salt but overall it was crunchy and flaky. We also shared the blue crab dip. For me, it was an 8/10. I wasn't too fond of how runny it was and I wish it had more crab. I think (could be very wrong) they use a heavy mayo base, which could explain why I wasn't a huge fan. Nonetheless, the flavor profile was solid. Overall, I found this place to be pretty dang good! It wasn't busy at all when we went which made for a quick late lunch!

Yelp
It was a few Sundays ago. Lots of cars in the lot on a Sunday should have been our first clue that we might have a tough time there. Long story short. Both big banquet rooms were full, minimum amount of dinners in central area. You could tell the waitress were stressed to the limit, pleasant, but stressed. I ordered onion rings for the table which took @ 20 min. to come to the table. We all ordered our entrees before those arrived. 45 min. later comes the entrees. Amid multiple apologies from waitress and I assume owner. My pecan crusted catfish was under cooked, waitress offered to pop it back in. One other diner had the veal Parmesan which was nearly black. She was so hungry and upset she ate a bit but left it. Prior to being served the main food, waitress comes out to tell us the cook quit . Never have I ever been in a resturant when cook has quit amid main service. So I can't say this was a good experience, but I do have to give them some slack for operating under duress.

Yelp
Amazing food and great atmosphere! They have a separate room that is perfect for small gatherings. And their catering business is first class. Great location and plenty of parking available.

Yelp
Unless you don't mind being observed by tho owners on video camera, the drinks are cheap at happy hour. It is loud and crowded. The bartenders are always listening to your conversation and looking for a reason to ban you from the place. The owners are mercenary. It is a toxic atmosphere.

Yelp
Kinda disappointed this go round. I've always enjoyed Poter and Luke's but this time I was very disappointed. Took my mother in law for dinner, she ordered the special, Lima beans with a breaded pork chop, hubby had a burger, and I got the creola salad. MIL beans were barely warm but at least the pork chop was hot. Hubby said his burger was fine but it was overcooked. My salad was just ok. The crispy andouille was not and the 3 tiny shrimp had a weird taste. Couldn't really put my finger on it, just didn't have your typical boiled shrimp flavor. And the service was SLOW. Not sure what the issue was because they were not busy at all. Hopefully they get back on track. It really was one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants.

Steph 5.

Yelp
I made reservations here for my mother birthday, not one time did they acknowledge her birthday. The food my mother ordered was tasteless (no seasoning). To say I spent a pretty penny here the food did not make the experience worth it. I will not be returning, but the server and host were very nice.

Deanne Q.

Yelp
We had a luncheon today for a group of 30 ladies. The round table set up was perfect for conversation. The menu selections were very good, and the food was perfect. I had the pecan catfish & it was delicious! Erica and Collin were our servers , they were top notch and had everything under control. I'm not sure how they did it! Erica is a boss! Shout out to Randy for checking in on us often, thanks! The entire group raved about how good everything was. If you're planning an event this is your place. See ya'll next year, no need to look for another venue for our annual luncheon!

Keith J.

Yelp
Overpriced bland food. The Catfish Sophie and flatbread appetizers were especially tasteles.

Wendi S.

Yelp
I am not impressed with this restaurant. It has to slowest service in town. The food was ok. The temperature of the food was warm and the price vs the quality didn't match. The soup we got which was corn & crab bisque was nice and hot and very good.

Frank S.

Yelp
It was a great experience. The server was nice, restaurant was cleaned and felt new. Would not mind going back and trying something else

Ella A.

Yelp
We visited on a random Wednesday at lunch and they were unexpectedly very busy. Our server seemed quite overwhelmed. The restaurant is huge and in a strip mall shopping center. Dress is casual. I would not order the gumbo again, it had no flavor and didn't contain much seafood at all. The blue crab dip appetizer was delicious. We also had a shrimp po boy, the catfish platter, and the redfish, all of which were average. The redfish had a strange taste to it (but we still ate it). One person ordered one of the flatbread options, which I thought was strange, but she enjoyed it. We might visit again if in this specific Metairie area.

Immanuel L.

Yelp
We came here as a group during the St Patrick's Irish parade for brunch. It was great service from bartender Sarah and our waitress who was always attending our group. Our food came out pretty quick and love the recommendations from the bartender I love the breakfast flatbread. The ambiance is very family friendly. Which it was great for the area. I would definitely come back for drinks.

Mary Linda J.

Yelp
Had the blue crab appetizer and it was excellent. For my entree fried soft shell crab. Very good also. Would recommend to everyone

Billie C.

Yelp
We were greeted with smiles and brought to our table. I didn't know I was having a surprise party. We had the back room. Fixed menu with 4 course meal. Everyone complimented the chef (and waiters too). Thanks to management ( Ricky) who was there.

Nicole C.

Yelp
JW has such a bad habit of being a rude, demanding self-righteous person that she doesn't even remember offending and insulting me 4 x before I finally told her where to stick it then for months she went around talking about me. Even asked an acquaintance "that's the woman going live on a boat so she can piss off people all around the world?" Rwmember me now??

Terry D.

Yelp
Food is great, service is fantastic, love going there. Sometimes sit in bar to watch games.

Alex W.

Yelp
NIGHTMARE! I had this reservation for a week. They made us wait over an hour to sit. Only to find out once we were seated THEY COMPLETELY RAN OUT OF FOOD. ON NEW YEARS EVE. What kind of restaurant does this? Shut this place down. The worst part is the manager hid in the kitchen the whole time--he made the hostess and two waiters take the brunt. EPIC FAIL.

Mike F.

Yelp
Haven't been here in a while. The service is still top notch. They are always nice! But..... I remember the P&L burger being very, very good. Not so much this time. The bun looks like concession stand only. The fries are not steak fries or even a decent cut. More like catholic store cafeteria fries but dryer. And what with the smell at the bar?

Dean H.

Yelp
Food was delicious but a bit cold at lunch. Spaghetti n meatballs were delicious but served warm. Not HOT!

Carroll V.

Yelp
A fun neighborhood joint in Metairie that serves up tasty comfort food, New Orleans suburban style. The positives are many: they can make a solid Old Fashioned and the Mule was sprightly and refreshing. Onion rings way above average. Seafood gumbo could be more spicy, a bit bland but prepared well. roux was substantial but a bit thin. The salad trio is really nicely presented with lots of flavor--very popular dish for the shrimp and sauces. Impressed with the shrimp po-boy, lots of hot, crisp shrimp, well drained too. The fries need a lot more attention--the disappointment in the menu. Service is attentive and personable, even through COVID masks and a busy Saturday night. Nothing fancy here--a unpretentious joint with good food, prices and mammoth servings. Look forward to the next visit--the pasta dishes look great!

Tasha D.

Yelp
Forgot to take a picture before I started eating! It was so good! Huge portions! Will for sure be back!

Meghan D.

Yelp
Went to Porter & Luke's on a Sunday for a birthday lunch. There was the regular menu and brunch menu. The menu was pretty big and filled with seafood. The hot blue crab dip was DELICIOUS! I could eat it over and over again. I ordered breakfast and it was good. I had spumoni for dessert and it was good!! Even though Spumoni is not usually a dessert I would order. Overall it was a great experience and will definitely going back!!

Keppy M.

Yelp
The ambience has improved dramatically and since the improvement of the establishment. It's warm and inviting and it's nice to see friendly faces all the time. The bartenders always remember what you drink and prefer. Holly, Danny, Brittany and the manager Randy have been more than hospitable. I highly recommend this establishment!

J W.

Yelp
Good food cute bartender. Seems like there's a local crowd. Family owned talked to the owner and they were sweeet.

The Special B.

Yelp
I love this place! I love to go to the bar. They have a great happy hour. The bartenders are always amazing.

Yelp
best place in Metairie!! food is bussssss!!!!! Ive came here a couple times and never have any complaints. Super nice workers, hot cooks, great time!! The server brandy is phenomenal! love her so much she's a queen!!

Yelp
We came here for breakfast on a Sunday before Thanksgiving. It was a decent size group, 9 of us.l, and they were able to accommodate our party. Note they do take reservations through Open Table. The breakfast menu was full of local flare and typical breakfast courses. They can make just a waffle for the kids. The bacon is so good and crispy. My brother in law had the breakfast burrito which is packed full of goodies, then topped with a nice sauce. My wife got the Eggs Orleans which she said was very tasty. She said the Hollandaise was on point, says a lot coming from a chef. I got the Cajun Omelet. They stuff this thing and top it with a tasty sauce. The other popular dish was the 2 eggs your way, which came with eggs, choose of meat, hash browns or grits, or biscuit, white or wheat toast. The prices are very reasonable. The lunch and dinner menu you look too, which includes a kid menu. There is also a bar located in the restaurant and some poker machines too. Plenty of parking and friendly service. We will be back again. The only thing I wish is that they had some lunch items on the breakfast menu, go ahead and call it brunch, but that's just my request because I am not a breakfast food guy. But it was definitely great food.

Shannon S.

Yelp
This is causal restaurant with some fine dining options which has been displaying a vigorous lunch crowd and more relaxed dinner scene.  Generally Porter & Luke's averages a bit over a 3.5 star mainly due to consistency issues as they absolutely can put out some four and five star food when they are firing on all cylinders but they seem to often have misfires. They have a decent LARGE private back room and smaller private side room for meetings, events or other private dining groups.  The location is in a strip mall on Metairie Road which leaves a lot to be desired aesthetically but provides ample parking.  This is definitely a vast improvement from the last restaurant in this space, Zeke's Restaurant, that even Gordon Ramsay couldn't save. My most recent visit was during St. Patrick's and the special was corned beef and cabbage and the corned beef was on the tougher side and certainly could have been better while the gumbo I also got was good. Overall this is USUALLY a nice spot to get a good lunch or dinner and I've been to some good events here. My video review of Porter & Luke's is here: https://youtu.be/uLEkT9jOf28

Erica L.

Yelp
Everyone else's food at the table looked great, I wouldn't know personally. Apparently the wait staff(Brandy B.) has to report back to the owners what age you are to make sure you're under 12 to order off the kids menu, like it matters the age of the person eating the food. I had stomach surgery and can't eat a regular sized meal, I have never had an issue ordering from the kids menu anywhere else, except here. Being out of town and staying at a restaurant, I opted to not eat while everyone else did and go somewhere that would have good customer service afterwards. This place isn't it if you want to be treated well. Leave your customer Hangry and they will let you and everyone else know how much you suck.

Mary W.

Yelp
Gay sluring, cursing waiter! On halloween night, we head to Porter & Luke's at about 7pm. We are 1 of 3 tables occupied. A young man comes to take our drink and food order. The same waiter brought the plates, dropped them, and left. No inquiry if we need more drinks or anything else. I ended up receiving veal parm instead of chicken. I wait a long time but the place is empty of staff. No one at the door, no one walking around. It's earily quiet  After about 5 minutes, I just decided to eat it. I wish I hadn't as it was tough and chewy. As we continue to eat, I see the waiter walk by us to enter the back room to break it down. He was putting the chairs on the tables and preparing to shut it down. He walked past us again, not stopping to check on us. Then, after sitting there with dirty plates in front of us for about 10 minutes, the waiter stands in the doorway of the kitchen/dining room. My husband had to waive him over to ask for the check. We lay cash out, and my husband goes to the bathroom. The waiter came to pick it up immediately, and I asked him if he had been working there awhile. He said for a few years. I said I was surprised since he seemed inexperienced and had hoped he would have checked on us since I received the wrong meal. He said "oh wow". No apology. I said service was horrible and hoped he learned something. I wasnt mean just stated the fact. He looked shocked that I would say something. Instead of apologizing, he said "look I've had a shitty day, I just got a text from my grandfather..." I diverted my eyes down to the table and shook my head, thinking he was starting out justifying instead of apologizing. He stopped mid sentance and said "fu** you" as he walked away. My husband just returned from the restroom, and I told him what happened. The waiter was standing near the kitchen again. My husband walked up to him and said I dont appreciate you talking to my wife like that." He tells him Fu** You!  My husband asked for an apology, they exchange more words and the kid calls my husband a fu**ing faggot!! Seriously, I was flabbergasted!  It got loud and finally a woman came to intervene, apologized, asked what she could do to make this better. My husband said to fire the kid and we both walked out after that. I dont think the woman could have done ANYTHING to make that situation right. I sure hope they address the boy's anger issues. It was our 1st and last visit. What a shame. My dish wasn't good, but my husband got the seafood eggplant, which he liked. It's a no frills place, $19 average for Parmigiano dinners, no bread, no dinner salad.

Yelp
Amazing food. Fried Chicken was the best. Great service . Love the art as well. Great vibe

Sandra S.

Yelp
Good service. Food ok. This is New Orleans so it has be better than ok to get 4 or 5 stars.

judith b.

Yelp
I had a big birthday party there for dinner for 30 people. Everyone had a great time. The food was delicious and the service was spot on. The room was comfortable and it was everything I had hoped it would be. Highly recommended for dining or for a big party.

Mary O.

Yelp
I always enjoy the food here although the service can be very slow. The dining room can be loud depending on when you go. Haven't bee. On a while and need to go again. Their eggplant Sophie is fantastic.

Kristina M.

Yelp
Have been here several times and have always had great service and food! The team there really makes you feel cared for!

Carolyn F.

Yelp
Our family has been eating here for the last 6 months the service is great an our food has been excellent for a neighborhood restaurant. We will be back .

Pearl B.

Yelp
The hot blue crab dip was OK once I added pepper to it. However; the eggplant sophie was tasteless. The food lacked seasoning and spices and diced tomato was on top of the eggplant which is highly unusual.

Alasha G.

Yelp
I was skeptical to try this place but mannnn was it good.. the drinks were strong. I had two rum punches and they were made to perfection. The crab dip is absolutely 10/10... just get it and thank me later.. the steak was good and huge but had entirely too much fat and not much... it was seasoned well, I just feel like I wasted my money a little because of the lack of meat. The potatoes and asparagus 10/10.. seriously... try this place. I plan to go back and try the seafood platter cause my god did it look amazing!

Esmerelda R.

Yelp
To start off, I haven't been here since 2013. I had fond memories of the soft shell Pontchartrain. I came here specifically for that meal but they were sadly out of soft shell crabs. I would recommend calling ahead if you're interested in that entree. Despite the crab situation, we persevered and ordered the charbroiled salmon and the fried chicken. The charbroiled salmon itself was.... Good. But it wasn't enough to save the meal. The potatoes and asparagus that accompanied it were just fine, since the asparagus was boiled (?) with no seasoning and the potatoes were limp. It felt like they were fried a few hours prior. But the salmon was good. Maybe they thought the seasoning from the fish would carry over? The chicken was nothing to write home about. You have to wait 25 minutes to receive it, which is fair. It was good but I didn't think it was "almost famous" as the menu writes about. The chicken itself lacked seasoning, the breading was pretty good, fries were fine, but I didn't feel like either entree was worth the price. Overall the appetizer was delicious. We got food that wasn't cheap by any means, but I do wish we would've gone elsewhere due to the crab situation. I plan on returning for the soft shell Pontchartrain dish, but i plan on calling ahead. Oh yeah last thing - the inside of this restaurant appears to be under construction........? The table we sat at was pushed against a wall that was unpainted (you could still see the unpainted drywall). Also the ceiling was missing? We could see part of the insulation, gave the place a very industrial vibe. Maybe that's the thing nowadays. Our party of 2 turned into a party of 3 if you counted the squished mosquito on the drywall next to us.

Yvonne J.

Yelp
Took a friend for her birthday and was not disappointed. The food, service, and ambiance were 5 star. Highly recommend Porter & Luke's. We will definitely be going back.

Angela G.

Yelp
The lukewarm Gumbo had two small shrimp, and I need Waldo to help me find the crabmeat. Can you find it?

Tim E.

Yelp
Restaurant seems nice. Clean surroundings and bright colors. The staff seems to be overwhelmed and the restaurant is seated with about 60% capacity being slowly served. We have been here for over 29 minutes before table bread was served to us. Drinks finally arrived yet we are still waiting for our order to be taken. 30 minutes and the bread is gone! Apps arrive, and we are looking at the unsalted chips, and watered down gumbo. To me, seafood gumbo should be thick and flavorful. This bowl of gumbo was also most a clear soup. 40 min and waiting for the main course. We flagged the waiter down for more bread and another drink but no help. I'm starting to loose my patience which is why I'm already venting on here. Average entree, salmon done on the outside and raw on the inside. I ordered a simple dinner and they seem totally inept to provide a good meal. I remember several years ago when Gordon Ramsey tried to help the owners of this location. After he left those owners sold the business. Now it's back as porter and Luke's. As far as I am concerned Gordon Ramsey would once again condemn the new owners as a waist of good ingredients tossed around by an inexperienced restauranteur. What a shame.

Melissa T.

Yelp
Food was perfect came out hot. Our server Aidan was very helpful, very courteous young man and went above and beyond with his service. 5 stars all around !! Will be back very soon

Jill C.

Yelp
Went last night for a professional Con Ed class. We were in the Zeke room. We had to RSVP so they should have known how many were coming. I got there on time and there were not enough seats. Had to stand around and wait for the staff to bring out another table. Very uncomfortable. The food was Meh. We had a buffet but nothing special stands out. My co worker did not get salad as they had run out and it was not replenish in time for her. She didn't want to hold up the line. During class I watched a bug crawl up the wall just over the food and go behind a picture that was on the wall. Kudos to the staff they worked very hard to make us comfortable. Refilling drinks, bringing coffee etc. All in all I would not return.

Jae K.

Yelp
I got the angel hair pasta, fried chicken, and red fish dish. Pasta was great, but the red fish had too many scales. It was impossible to eat the fish skin. Also the fried chicken was a bit dry.
