A great escape from the rain! So it started raining cats and dogs out of nowhere and the bar was right beside our hotel. The lone waiter greeted us with a big smile and recommended us some really fine beers. We took Boston Best Burger (with sauteed mushrooms and bacon), two Porter BBQ Burgers, Cajun Chicken Salad and a Clam Chowder. The burgers were really good, the others also enjoyed their meals. They kinda missed the cooking level of the patty a lil bit and it was delicious nevertheless. We were actually sorry we didn't find this place sooner!

Google
Porters has a great pub like atmosphere including a long wooden bar. You can order various beers and other drinks. Porters food claim likely is their burgers. Served in a brioche bun with a knife through the top you can order variations. I ordered the cheddar cheese burger which came with warm and crispy fries. Servers were pleasant, it is solid pub food.

Don Kelly

Google
Good pub menu with plenty of apps and burger options. Plenty of other comfort foods too. Service was quick and solid pre Celtics game.

Google
Classic bar and grill. Diverse draft selection. Burger was satisfying (A-) Fries’ ratio was nearly perfect (A) . Staff is wicked nice. Music on point. Sports on all the TVs. Highly recommended.

Google
😎how many times have I been to this place? 1 👩🏻summary: many different flavors of chicken wings ($12.99 for each) available - buffalo sauce was bland but caribbean jerk was good! 💬service: quick and attentive 💁🏻‍♀️would I revisit this place? maybe yes

Matt Neslusan

Google
Classic Boston pub but in good order and very clean. Staff is friendly, food is surprisingly good, and a decent draft list that will have something for everyone. Perfect place before a Celtics/Bruins game, or any other event at the TF garden. I recommend the Cuban sandwich.

Google
Nice spot with bar, table and booth seating. They show various sports on 3 screens and stuck on the champions league when I asked if they had CBS. The burger I had here was easily the best I'd eaten in Boston. Friendly staff and patrons.

Daniel Li

Google
It is wonderful sport bar where it serves drinks, burgers, and chips. Additionally, chips are amazing and thick! I would recommend the “the Boston’s best burger”!!!!

Peter R.

Yelp
Came to Porters before the Celtics game and it did not disappoint. Nice pub with very friendly service. The burger was tasty, the chicken tenders were good and the service was outstanding. Thank you Kayla! The martini I ordered was exactly like I asked very dry and not dirty.

Michelle K.

Yelp
Service at the bar was slow, but friendly. My husbands burger was over cooked, but mine was perfect. Food is well priced, but liquor was expensive - I've never paid almost $12 for a pickle back shot. It was decent food right next to the Bruins arena, but overpriced for the drinks you get.

Jennie G.

Yelp
Tuesday trivia is the only thing to come here for. Caroline the trivia host is amazing! And not that the food or drinks aren't good here, but I hate a dishonest establishment. There are no prices, AT ALL, on the drinks menu. And I've asked in person about this on multiple occasions. And it's not like the special cocktail menu that must places don't actually list the price, I'm talking basic beers, wines, and even soft drinks. Also, on the food portion of the menu, they list a price range for each category. So fries could range from $9.99-17.99 under the app category. So now I have to guess what I think my meal will cost? Also, who didn't factor in price to their decision of what meal they're picking? If I'm torn between 2 meals or drinks I might want, I tend to make my decision based on price next. Anyway, I wouldn't recommend this place until it changes it's menu, unless you like being surprised with your bill

Yelp
This was our first stop while in Boston. It was good, pretty low key which is nice! It's a nice place for a beer. The bartender was very nice and helpful, he even recommended a couple places for us to go check out while we're here! The food was good too except for the bug that was in my wife's salad. Luckily she dropped the pieces of lettuce that the bug was on before it went in her mouth.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Great service. Local bar feel. Food was actually SUPER TASTY! We got the chicken tenders with Buffalo and soy sauce flavors, the Belgian fries, and chowder. All were so fresh and delicious. Would 100% go here again for a casual, tasty dinner and drinks. Also, playlist was 10/10.

Monique W.

Yelp
We visited this pub before seeing a show at the garden. It is exactly what you would expect of a pub in Boston. Friendly service, cold drinks, and fairly reasonable prices. I would recommend getting one of their burgers!

Vanessa P.

Yelp
This was our first time in Boston, and we came here for dinner once we got in. It wasn't crowded at all, which was nice, but maybe that was a sign too? The waiter/ bartender was friendly and gave us some good tips on places to see. He was pretty fast in our service as well. It's definitely your typical dive bar atmosphere, nothing fancy what so ever. Now to the food. I got the taco salad with beef, and my husband got a burger with French fries. My taco salad was good, except for when I found a nice looking dead bug on one of the salad leaves. It was a dead fly, and I immediately lost my appetite. It was a bummer, because it was tasty, but I was disgusted after that. Super disappointing, and won't be back because of that.

Adam C.

Yelp
If you want a great pub bar that offers the brews and a very good burger this is the place. This place definitely has a Boston vibe. Bar servers are friendly but with Boston attitudes. If you want to go to the arena I would certainly come here to "pre-game." My burger was cooked just how a pub burger should be and the fries were warm and skinny - just the way I want to be.

John M.

Yelp
Very basic bar food. Fit the bill for a decent burger but not much else. Service was actually good (most reviews commented on poor service). The ambiance was standard dive bar vibe.

Annika P.

Yelp
food was pretty good, servers were nice, and it was overall a fairly swift affair. The music was a little bit npc but overall a good vibe. The flavors were a little too strong for me. I decided to go with blue cheese on my buffalo burger even though I'm not a BC fan but it was especially pungent so that was on me. The clam chowder was just not my cup of tea but I think the others I was with enjoyed it.

Louella A.

Yelp
Chill vibe. Great service. Wicked chili cheese fries. Great selection of whisky/bourbon. What else do you want?

Angela K.

Yelp
Awesome location, good drinks and good food. So close to TD Garden it is a perfect pregame or postgame spot. The atmosphere is just a typical bar and is a good vibe in general. I got the buffalo chicken flatbread it was really delicious, the right amount of spice and the right amount of food. It was the perfect snack I needed before the Celtic's game. Also the fries are SO YUM.

Robert P.

Yelp
Went in for a drink and some thing to eat. They didn't have soda water for the mix then I asked for a margarita, bar tender said she couldn't make that ether so I ordered a beer not cold. Kitchen was closed. I won't be going back. Needs new owner.

Brian W.

Yelp
Absolutely nothing special about this place except it's a comfortable place to grab a drink in an area where most places aren't all that comfortable. Solid bar, just a step up from a dive. Good service

Jennifer O.

Yelp
A friend and I stopped in here for a beer and to watch some basketball. This was a great place to watch the game and enjoy a beer. I can't vouch for the food, but stop in for a drink!

Jennifer T.

Yelp
The food and drinks were mediocre at best. We all ordered a sandwich or burger and they were fine. For sides, the fries were fine, but the chips were soooo salty. I would pass on the cocktails at this place and stick with the beers/ciders. They were cheap but for a good reason. This place is decent if you're looking for cheap eats in the area. It's in a good location to north station.

Khrystyana U.

Yelp
I don't know why this place has such high stars, food was just okay. Sure., maybe my expectations were too high due to such good rating. But it was very very average experience. Wings fyi no too juicy. Customer service was average good. 3 solid stars. Nothing bad here. Moderate and simple

Gabi A.

Yelp
If I could give a negative score, I would. The worst service ever, never received my food. The little bit of food we did get was either over cooked or cold. Don't waste your time.

Yelp
Went before a show at the garden to get dinner and drinks before. Place was moderately busy but not crazy once we got there. I never like to dock stars on service alone (especially with a worker shortage at the moment) but the attitude of every employee we came across was totally unacceptable and uncalled for. We had 2 disabled/ visually impaired people in our party and when they forgot one of their drinks, all I got was a sigh and an eye roll. Same thing when our food came... they just threw random food on the table as it was a different person then took our order and after we had watched her try to give it to 3 other tables. Then the bill came and one of them asked to split it (which I understand we should've asked before hand) and she immediately started yelling at us so we nicely said it's our fault and not a big deal and said we'd just use 1 card. She came back with the check and was still annoyed that we paid with only one card even though she berated us for implying we'd do the opposite. I haven't tipped under 20% since the pandemic because I know this industry has been hit hard but this was completely uncalled for and it wasn't even that busy/ early enough that they'd already all be in a bad mood. We ended up leaving early and going to the show early and paying for drinks inside the garden cause we felt so unwanted here. The apps were great and burgers were good. That being said I'd go back if it weren't for the service. We have another show this week that was rescheduled from last year and were going to meet the same group of friends here but will be changing that plan.

Yelp
Porters is located conveniently near TD Garden and North station. It's got a variety of great pub/American food as well as beer on tap. Their food was great, but what makes Porters shine is its phenomenal service. I had a party of 10 planning to grab lunch here & we were on a tight schedule. When I called in advance, the staff were more than willing to take orders ahead over the phone so the food could be ready by the time we arrived. They even managed to print each receipt separately since we wanted to pay separately. The moment we arrived, our orders were placed in front of us and we were finished with our meal and out the door in exactly 30min. I hope that next time we'll be able to spend more time leisurely at Porters and even grab some drinks on a game day. We'll be returning soon!

Yelp
Great Clam chowder and great service. It was a quiet night so noise level wasn't bad. Broccoli and cheddar soup was also excellent.

Yelp
This place is great. Good drinks, excellent food. Get the screwball screwdriver. Paul is an awesome bartender.

Aja M.

Yelp
Can't speak on the food but from what I saw, it looked good. Got drinks here after dinner, our hotel was around the corner. Bartenders were friendly - there is one guy there that is knowledgeable about almost every subject known to man and he put a Pearl Jam mix that I enjoyed. The drinks were good! I'd definitely come back.

Michael T.

Yelp
This is a really nice bar. It has your standard bar food and a nice selection of beers. The bartenders are friendly and stay on top of things. This place gets booked when the Bruins are playing so plan accordingly. If going to the Garden to catch a game, I highly recommend!

Janice P.

Yelp
We stopped here for lunch, the burgers were unbelievable. We were on a time crunch, and he had us in and out in 30 minutes. I would highly recommend this place!

Craig Y.

Yelp
It's ok not great. Menu is typical pub food. Lots of beers. We had a burger and fries. Fries were cold, very cold. And chicken wings. Too spicy and I like spicy. They were out of pizza and tacos the night we went. I'd get beers and pizza or just go elsewhere.

Ben G.

Yelp
Good beer, friendly staff, great location. Excellent spot to meet up with friends and grab a drink, dinner, or both. I recommend the burger.

Dawn S.

Yelp
Attitude is everything and I guess you also need a strong stomach for a raw burger that you order well done. Asked when we walked in if burgers are still cooking and we get a raw burger with nobody checking in on us. So very frustrating!

Gus S.

Yelp
Cool pub with a good beer selection and tasty jerk chicken wings. I came here for lunch on a Tuesday when I was in town for work. I sat at the bar, and the bartender was very nice and attentive. I had a delicious IPA in my hands within less than a minute. I ordered the chicken wings and a side salad. Everything was delicious. The portions were big and the prices were affordable. The bar has a very spacious seating area and a large bar. This place would be great for happy hours with large groups. I definitely recommend.

Ray Y.

Yelp
4.5 stars. Came here because of the Yelp reviews and the proximity to the Boston City Winery (which did not have nearly the good food reviews as this place). My wife loved her margarita (blood orange) and they have a great selection of beers for me (Allegash is my go to). My Jalapeno burger was one of the best burgers I've had in years. My wife got a chipotle chicken wrap. She liked it but wasn't aware it had onions. They were large and easily removed. Surprisingly for us was the fries - Deb's being the zucchini and mine being regular. Both were outstanding and we're not usually big on fries. The were perfectly clean and crispy on the outside and moist in the middle. They must take great care in their cooking oil and that's huge. Their appeared to be only one waitress (the place isn't that large but we were surprised she was solo) - but we did not have to wait for anything - which we'll attribute to her diligence and experience (i could go on and on about wasted steps we see in inexperienced wait staff - she was almost "programmed" for maximum efficiency - sorry I didn't get her name but 1/21/2023 @ 18:00 hours). I am extremely stingy with 5 stars after only one visit - but another visit like this would confirm this place is worthy of my highest ranking.

Elaine W.

Yelp
Friendly place, great service. Great location near TD Bank Garden. It's a go to place for our work crew.

K M.

Yelp
First post on Yelp. Been sleeping on this place for a long time. Came in, and bar was awesome. Looked into the kitchen and it looks awesome. Smells great, great prices. I can't believe how awesome and slept on this bar is. 10/10 would recommend to everyone for any occasion in The West End. Great place, awesome bar. Super clean. Thanks Porter

Yelp
Came here on a Wednesday night for trivia, one of their many fun events held at the bar. This time they had a special Halloween themed trivia and for normal times they held regular trivia nights. The host is very nice, phrasing the questions very explicitly so that you won't miss any details. On the other hand, it's kinda too much tedious and boring descriptions. Question designs are standard, nothing crazy. One of the rules here is that if you come with a party of 6+ people, you can't win first prize. Second prize at top, which is a $15 gift card to use at the bar. Food wise, I only ordered a plate of fried onion rings and it's very mediocre and too greasy. Apparently my friends had some tasty burgers so prob I'm not quite fair here. Solid selections of beer. Music is classy, fun to hang out with friends.

Yelp
Was a terrible experience that just kept going downhill. We came for lunch and didn't have high expectations and just wanted some decent bar food. We split a clam chowder, and I got a burger and my friend got a sandwich. The clam chowder was tasty but a little cold. And on a cold November day, we would have really wanted something a bit hotter. When my burger came out, the bun was completely cold. I've never picked up a burger and just from the temperature, felt my appetite leaving my body. I mean toasted would be nice, but at least make sure it's not stone cold. The sandwich wasn't better. My friend didn't even finish half because the bread wasn't good. She also expressed that her sweet potato fries were pretty cold. Each of the 3 dishes we got had temperature problems. When we got the bill, we had a question about the pricing about the clam chowder. On the menu, they made it look like it was a soup of the day, so when I asked the waitress about the pricing, she treated us really rudely. Up until now, the food had been just okay, but this is what really made me feel that I will never ever return. The waitress started raising her voice and had this condescending tone. I asked her for the menu just so I could describe why I was confused. But she kept talking in a tone as if were stupid. It was as if she was unloading all of her frustrations out on us when we just wanted some clarification. Confusion can happen but she handled it really poorly. Because of her behavior I asked to speak to the manager, but fortunately for her, the manager wasn't there conveniently. We paid but I had this feeling like we were ripped off. NEVER coming back here again, that's for sure.

Steven S.

Yelp
Putrid. We went in late yes. 1030 and the kitchen closes at 11. We ordered vegan burgers Nov 1 is World Vegan Day. The patties were obviously frozen and then over cooked. Horrid. Fries were no better. Zero taste and became ice cold within minutes of being placed on our table. The manager asked us how the food was. We told him and he offered to "fix" it. Truthfully. You can't "fix" something that is so absolutely awful. World Vegan Day, but not at Porters. Blahhhh!!!

Daniel M.

Yelp
We went for a burger before a concert based on the reviews. Sadly disappointed. Ordered the bbq burger medium rare. The cook tried to hide the fact that it was well done by pouring half a bottle of bbq sauce on it. So much so that the bun fell apart. Should have known the place was a bust when as we walked in the hostess had words with 2 women that walked in just before us and proceeded to tell the bartender that they were a couple of c***ts. My bad.

Mackenzie S.

Yelp
Solid choice for a pre-game meal. We stopped here for a quick dinner before a game at TD Garden as it is only a couple of blocks away. It wasn't too busy and we were seated immediately. When we peeked inside, many tables were designated as Reserved. However, we were seated at one of these - I guess they do that to prevent people just having drinks from sitting there? Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We chose the Boston's Best Burger with fries and Grilled Chicken on Focaccia Sandwich with sweet potato fries. The burger was good but far from the best. The chicken was very good with a generous portion, but the bread didn't have a lot of flavor as focaccia might suggest. The drinks weren't crazy at a little over $6 for beer. Much cheaper than $15+ inside of TD Garden. Overall, not a bad pick for pre-gaming. Food seems reliable but not outstanding.

Abram M.

Yelp
Porters bar and grill was solid place to get some food. I think overall the place is more of a bar, with solid food than a restaurant. Everything was simple but tasty, but a couple of things were a little bit too salty. The Cajun fish tacos were a little bit too salty side, the Cajun flavor was there, but I feel like MAYBE used a mix of Cajun that already HAD salt, and they also added additional salt without considering the salt contains already in the Cajun mix. Also the fish was mahi mahi so all the seasoning wasn't really needed. The fried pickles in the other hand were GREAT. Normally people mess up fried pickles and they end up being too salty, but these ACTUALLY WERENT too salty, they were spot on. Also, they used whole pickle spears which is really cool, not just slices. The wings were jerk dry rub, and they also fell on the too salty side. But not as much as the tacos. The calamari was good though, had a really nice fry to them. The service was great, and everyone was sooooo nice. I don't currently reside in Boston, but I would literally come back because the service was so good. That's just how I am. Great service means customer loyalty from me. I am also most definitely willing to try other things on the menu too, maybe this "salty" effect was a one time thing.

Janeene M.

Yelp
Yesterday I would have given Porter's a "WhooHoo" rating. Their Cubano sandwich IS TO DIE FOR. I like having lunch there, until today. One thing I've noticed about the world we live in today is customer service is close to non existent. I'm usually a happy tipper. No need to come to my table 5 times throughout my meal and absolutely no need to be overly joyful (for a tips sake). I'm happy with basic common courtesy. Today, I called for takeout order because I had a taste for a Cubano sandwich. Unfortunatly Kanundra (not sure if I spelled it correctly) answers the phone. Just plain rude, and very dismissive. When I went to pick up my order I decided to ask the name of the person that took my order over the phone. Not knowing I was speaking to the person who took my order. It was clear to me that Kanundra was having a bad day or she just simply hates her job. Eye and neck rolling is the response I got so of couse I ask to speak with a manager who said "Kanundra has been here a long time, I trust her". I wasnt true what "trust" had to do with this situation but it was clear that he didn't care either. Not that I was really expecting him to. Unfortunately that experience has completely turned me off to the place and i'll no longer spend my hard earned money there. Customer Service is as simple as having common courtesy. Just be polite. If you hate your job so much that you're taking your frustation out on paying customers; QUIT!

Yelp
Happened to be downtown, and was craving a sandwich for lunch. Porters has great reviews, so decided to try this place out. Quiet and cozy, you feel tucked away from the busyness. Enjoyed the sandwich- it was a Cuban pulled pork sandwich. Flavorful at every level and it was even better with a Pepsi! The staff were really nice and took care of me really well. I'm surely heading there the next time I'm there!

Duha A.

Yelp
Came based of a friends recommendation. The food is delicious. The burgers here are really good! Staff is very helpful and very friendly.

Simon G.

Yelp
Good choice of draft beers. Burgers good and reasonably priced. Service quick and professional.

Amy S.

Yelp
Great burger! The service was good when we could catch our server. We had to flag them down a few times even though we were one of three tables. I did like this place. We ran out of drinks and just gave up and moved to our hotel bar. Maybe we went on an off night

J. P.

Yelp
We had excellent takeout from here on 7/23. I had the Smokehouse Burger-even as takeout it was excellent. Chicken Caesar was also very good. I did notice someone said $5.50 for composting containers for takeout. 2 things: 1. I asked before ordering-they are 0.50 each. 2. They keep the food a little better. Styrofoam and some other containers are less than healthy-I've seen styrofoam melt before so that may find its way into the food. Anyway, just thought that needed clarification. One improvement I would make is the fries. I realize some people like thin shoestring fries. I am not one of those people. Had I known I would have upgraded to tots. Fries were good enough but on Yelp I saw thicker fries and was expecting those. Overall, great meal. I am rounding down on 4.5 because of the fries and because my girlfriends salad opened up on the way home (still edible) because the sticker got caught on the bag. Next time were going to try the place in-house. One thing is for certain, the smokehouse is the real deal (bacon, onions and blue cheese!)!!!

RJ A.

Yelp
In town and needed a place to eat that was close to the TD Garden. Within walking distance and food was great! Our waiter Nick was awesome and took great care of us. We were a group of 8 and he handled us just like we were family...just how we like. Got the Onion rings and Greek salad, others got the fish and chips. Gluten free pizza was also a big hit. Would definitely eat here again

Philippe C.

Yelp
We were a group of 7 happy to find a place where we could eat/drink on a Sat night. But no waiter or waitress decided to take care of us. We ended up by ordering at the bar only drinks. The waitress finally showed up not happy... and very unpleasant. I think this place used to be a famous place but as the staff is bad, people left... that's why it's empty. Even a day when the Bruins play... BUT thank you to the bartender and the security person who were the only nice people here.

Evan B.

Yelp
Came here before B's matinee vs Philly after being told it was a 35 minute wait at The Fours, even though we got there at 11a; yikes. Glad we came; not many in the place by when we arrived at 11:10 but it quickly filled up. *Hostess initially tried to seat wife and I at a super awkward table by the bathroom/video game machine even though there were TONS of better seats; weird...we vetoed her. *Service very good, server was perhaps a little too eager to get our drink order; dude, let me look at the beer list and settle in before demanding to know what I'd like. *We each got a cup of soup; crab and corn chowder and clam chowder; both were very good, full of crab/clams but could have been hotter; wife's was kind of lukewarm *Next we had some wings; while they were hot/juicy, there was just TOO much sauce on them (Sweet BBQ). We literally had to wipe sauce off with napkins in order to enjoy them. Like 1/2" of sauce before we even got to the chicken. Others around us got the buffalo wings and they didn't look at sauced; not sure what happened. Overall it was a solid choice without having to wait before the B's; closer to 3.5 stars but we appreciated the quaintness/friendliness of the staff. Decent draft list too.

Yelp
Burgers are fantastic, prepared exactly as ordered with fresh veg and steaming hot patties. Bartender was fantastic, mixed drinks on point and great atmosphere. Perfect for a quick bite at lunch or a full meal.
