"Portillo’s, another major player in the Italian beef community, announced the opening of a new restaurant in Springfield with the same double-drive-thru lanes as its River North location." - Ashok Selvam

Stopped in twice over the weekend on my trip. Both nights I ordered the dipped Italian Beef sandwich with sweet peppers fries and the cheese sauce. Night one I ordered the regular sandwich but on night No.2 I ordered the gigantic since I had a receipt code for free large fries. I also added a chocolate cake shake on night No.2. Everything was delicious! The atmosphere screams Route 66 and the staff was friendly. Everytime this Missouri boy is close to Portillo's, he's stopping in. Never disappoints no matter what you order.

I regret to say that my recent experience with Portillo’s in Springfield , Illinois was deeply disappointing, especially given the high expectations I had from past visits to their Chicago locations. I ordered a beef sandwich, anticipating the same hearty, flavor-packed delight I had enjoyed before. Unfortunately, what I received fell far short of those expectations. For the price I paid, I expected a satisfying portion of beef. Instead, I was met with disappointment—just a thin strip of beef tucked between two large slices of bread. This isn’t the quality or value I have come to associate with Portillo’s, and it felt like they were skimping on ingredients. This wasn’t an isolated incident at this location in Springfield , Illinois.. The first time, I chalked up the lackluster sandwich to an off day. But after giving them another chance and facing the same issue, it’s clear that their standards have slipped significantly. It feels as though they are taking advantage of their loyal customer base by overpricing a product that doesn’t deliver on its promise. Overall, I feel beyond upset and ripped off. It’s frustrating to see a place with such a strong reputation settle for less in quality at this location. I hope they take this feedback seriously and realign with the high standards that originally made them a favorite.

9/2024 5* I live in Chicago so I know what Portillo's standards are, etc. My food was good, and it was hot. No complaints. The atmosphere, no complaints. Very nice atmosphere. The wait for food was a bit long. One customer in front of me (4 people in his party) and then me. Pouring rain outside, so no customers. And it was 9 PM at night. Still, we waited almost 10 minutes for our orders. KInd of crazy. But it did taste good.

A friend of mine has been telling me about this place for a long time and I'm only in this area a couple times a year so I finally decided to give it a try and it was delicious!!! I suppose it's considered "fast food" but the beef sandwiches are amazing and not your typical fast food item. The portions are generous and there's plenty to choose from on the menu. I strongly suggest Italian beef!! My only issue was I was told fresh bread would be brought out to me because it came with the salad but the employee never brought it.... I was so full from eating the other food that I didn't go back to the counter to ask about it. It's all good... I will definitely be stopping in here the few times a year I pass by though, it was that good. It is on the pricey side but the quality is worth it, in my opinion.

The Maxwell Street Polish had a distinct Polish sausage taste. It was charred but not burnt, and they garnished it generously with onions. The poppy seed bun was soft yet held everything together. We also ordered a dipped Italian Beef and Sausage Combo. Even though the sandwich was dipped, it wasn’t soggy at all. The beef and sausage were tender. Both items were easy to cut in half with a plastic knife for us to share. The cashier was friendly and happily answered my questions about the menu. Another employee came by to check on us while we were eating. The interior has an old-school diner vibe, which is neat. Overall, it was a great introduction to Chicago-style food.

Google
Fun food, throwback decor cranked up to 11. A fun spot to grab food, the ingredients are a bit cheaper than they were prior to the IPO and there is a bit of shrinkflation with the sizes but all in all delicious and the Salted Carmel Spice Cake Shake is a great addition. Find a way to remembrance what made it uniquely special a bit more and you have a winning combo with all the new additions.

The first place my family wants to go when we visit Illinois is Portillos. Normally, we have to wait until we get closer to Chicago, but this trip we discovered the Portillos in Springfield, IL, and we were so happy! The people working there were very nice and helpful. The restaurant itself was clean, although the bathroom was not properly stocked with toilet paper. To be fair, it was Thanksgiving weekend and extremely busy. Our order was correct and totally delicious. We also enjoyed the little extras at the front for purchase (ornaments, car fresheners and single servings of the chocolate cake)

Google
First time here. We got the Chicago dog, a salad, onion rings, and a beef sandwich. I thought they were all good. Didn’t eat anything great but I would come back to try other menu items. I did go back to the counter to get a piece of cake and large fries. I was able to get the cake but I was told they were out of fries. I thought that was weird and it was even stranger when I saw them serving fries a little later. Regardless I would try other menu items if I come through town again.

Yelp
I was driving up Highway 55 and doing some shopping at the many great antique stores and needed some lunch. Portillo's definitely came to mind! I haven't had it in a while and I did drive through this establishment a couple years ago and had good service and a decent lunch. This time I went into the restaurant. I ordered the number one, which is the roast beef sandwich with fries and a drink and of course I had it dipped. The food was outstanding, and the service was also top-notch. I wish there was a Portillos closer to my home in Fairview Heights, Illinois, but for the time being this will do.

Kyle R.

Yelp
worst Portillo's in the Midwest. Unfriendly, poorly prepared, squished hot dogs(and broken buns... no poppy seed buns either), untidy dining room, etc. is this a franchise thing? I thought Portillo's was all corporate no franchise. Why the wildly different experience here vs Peoria, Quad Cities, Chicagoland, and more?

Jamal W.

Yelp
I heard that Potillo's i President Barak place to go when in Springfield. I decided to try it. I liked the ambiance. The decor was nice. It has a nice vibe. The service was good. They took my order. They didn't make me feel rushed. They were courteous. The only thing I asked for a cup of cheese since I had an hour and a have drive home. When I got home I found that the cheese was on the sandwich. I wish I wasn't in a hurry and that I could've eaten there. My sandwich didn't have any cheese on it since I planned on eating it while driving. I ended up waiting until I got home. The sandwich was just okay. But my son had the one with cheese. He loved it and asked me to bring him another next week when I go back to Springfield. He said that I have to get it with the cheese. My sandwich needed something. Maybe he was right. I need the cheese. I have plenty of more trips to Springfield planned I will try it again. Maybe I will change the review from 4 stars to 5 stars when I get cheese.

Yelp
I will say the restaurant is very big and loud. As soon as you walk in, there's typically two lines and you just pick which line to go in. This app was very friendly and took our order promptly. Then they yell it into the microphone and that's how your order is made. They have a grab and go section for cakes you can get a large one or even a slice. We had the Chicago style hotdog, which is great and a cheeseburger as well. Both were very delicious. I don't feel like the hotdog was very big and I really don't feel like there was anything that special about it. My Husband very much enjoyed the cheeseburger.

Richard S.

Yelp
Look for great dogs and Italian beef sandwiches?? This is the place to go! They are doing a great job here in bringing the Chicago classics!

Noah K.

Yelp
Food was pretty good, came out hot. Although we had to wait for it for 40 minutes because they never called our number, ended up having to ask. I got a burger, cooked perfectly, not the best fast food burger. My wife got the Italian beef, no flavor, just hot. We got 2 slices of chocolate cake, so good. Very cold inside, we ended up moving outside. Probably will be back.

Alice K.

Yelp
I was in Springfield and needed a quick meal. Portillo's was exactly what I needed and did not disappoint. I had the Italian beef sandwich and it was delicious!

Kate M.

Yelp
Our entire road trip was planned around a stop at Portillo's. I've heard good things from so many people. I decided I had to check it out for myself. They have the roadside diner theme down to an art. The place is full of Route 66 memorabilia. There are booths and tables for almost any size party. In true fast food style, they offer counter service. You order at the counter, choose your seat, and they call your number. There are options for just about everyone. Burgers, Italian beef, chicken, fish, salads, hot dogs, and polish sausage. We went with the beef dip sandwich with extra gravy. The beef was a little on the dry side for my taste. The burgers were juicy and flavorful. The crinkle cut fries were perfectly crisp and tender. The best part hands down were the milkshakes. We went with traditional chocolate and strawberry. We had to try the strawberry lemon cake. This shake is as delicious as it sounds. If your travels take you out this way, definitely give them a try!

Yelp
Springfield location of the iconic Chicago staple, which we had to try as we passed through. Nice restaurant with vintage signs and accents, reminiscent of a 50's diner. Awesome menu with some new items including bowls, which are essentially bowls of meat, perfect for keto!! Italian Roast Beef with sweet peppers was spot on, Portillo's style, which is drenched in au jus. Chicago dogs were perfect..and we tried the salted Carmel shake...soooo good. For 7 of us the bill ran just at C note, but we ate like kings. A roast beef with peppers runs about $9 (peppers are an essential add), so add in a drink and fries/rings and this is a much better value than your typical fast food. They do offer burgers, which we have never had, plus Italian sausage, and a variety of salads too. We love Portillo's and we're definitely glad this extension of the franchise did not disappoint!! If there is an issue..it's identifying food within orders. We had 4 different beef sandwiches and had to open each and pass them around to get the correct one...maybe an identifying sticker would be nice?? Also, from the reviews they may have drive through issues...we are inside, so we can't comment on that, but insides was great!

Cara B.

Yelp
I was excited to see a Portillo's in Springfield while we visited since I've never been to one. I got the polish with caramelized onions and it was delicious! I couldn't pass up on the spice cake either. The place was spotless with tons of interesting decor. The staff was on point and very kind. Highly recommend!

George L.

Yelp
Do not order a fish sandwich here!!! The fish looks like a large square Oreo cookie, the actual fish being the cream part. I did not know you could slice fish that thin unless you were making sushi. Breading was the only thing you could taste. Fries were overcooked and saltless what is with restaurants and salt are they all trying to save us from high blood pressure. I think I have eaten here for the last time. Twenty dollars and the only decent food a chocolate cake how does your dietary squad justify that one.

Dave M.

Yelp
I know they're a chain and chains aren't supposed to be good..but Portillo's is always fantastic! I'm a huge fan of Chicago style hot dogs and they've deliver on your expectations! Their Italian Beef is also fantastic, not to forget the fries, especially when you've got some cheese to dip them in! I've eaten at a few different locations over the years in Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan, and they've all been great. The ambiance is fun and the staff are great. This is always a great place to stop for a quick bite to eat!

Mo H.

Yelp
My shoes stuck to the floor, dirty. Took a long time to get our meal. No one was very friendly

Chris K.

Yelp
They got some of our order screwed up, which is aggravating when you go over it twice with the cashier. It was quickly resolved, but still shouldn't happen if an employee is paying attention. We ended up with an Chicago dog, which I couldn't give up so ate it and it was well put together. The Polish is huge, be forewarned, and tasted pretty good. The Italian beef was why I came here in the first place and could have been so much better than it was. I have high standards as a born and breed Chicagoan who finds the mom's and pop's do it the best. When you ask for a beef to be double dipped and not only is the beef dry, but the paper is barely wet, there's a problem. Plus it didn't have much flavor. Dick, you did your patrons no favors by selling out for big money. I definitely wouldn't return for the beef.

Stephanie K.

Yelp
I noticed that all the negative reviews has to do with the drive-thru part(?) I haven't been to the drive-thru, but I came to this location, twice, on our way to Chicago-- food and experience were okay (dining in)! We usually go on Sundays around lunch time and there never was a line and the wait for our food was brief. Love their roast beef. Hotdogs and other items were okay! I just couldn't give them the last 2 stars because the fish sandwich, my mom ordered, was undercooked and cold. I feel that's a significant "no no". Other than that, it's alright-- just avoid drive-thru's! Convenient parking!

Sam S.

Yelp
The food here was fantastic, the portion sizes were American and the flame grilled taste of the burger really added to the meal. The service was quick, it's a place where you go up to the counter to order and they'll call your number to get your food. The decor in there really added to the 1950s diner feel and I loved it. Will definitely be returning.

Wade W.

Yelp
I placed an order from the website and my order was to be picked up at 9:59pm. I arrived at 10.00. After waiting for twelve minutes, I asked the person cleaning the floor if I could speak to the manager. The cleaner reluctantly walked behind the counter and spoke to someone in a black uniform. After waiting another minute, I walked over to the register and told the person in the black uniform for my money back. This guy had a major attitude right away. I asked for his name and he told me "Christian". I then asked for his last name and he said he already gave me his name. I again asked for his last name and he told me I had an attitude problem and I needed to leave. This is one of the most horrible experiences I've ever had to deal with in a restaurant. This so called 'manager' is the exact opposite of what professionalism is. Zero management skills and zero social skills. Zero star for Portillo's!

John Y.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of Portillos I've eaten at pretty much all of the chicoagoland ones even the few that are under a different name north west subs I've been gracious enough to get to meet Dick. The beef sandwiches are alot more skimpy in Springfield they don't care about the customers like up north. Big beef doubled dipped motz and plenty of hot then you go and time to eat beef dry barely any beef on it and maybe 6 pieces of pepper. Sad you make a mice thick line all the way across the sandwich and they offer a little cup of aju dip the whole sandwich in the gravy please.Theres be so tomes that I felt like telling them I've been eating at this establishment before you were born or days that you worked here. Back then a big beef was a bid one I was never able to finish it now that's a different story I could eat two as that's about the right amount of beef for one beef. Why are you getting so stingy theses daysin Springfield I was up at the Bativa store and they still make them same a bid huge beef extra wet and plenty of hot garinara.Dick show Springfield how to build a true beef and not some lame one.

Aleana W.

Yelp
I'm a little chafed. This location has been open for quite some time. The entire community eagerly waited for Portillo's to open. And when it finally did- people flocked here by the masses. There was a HUGE line. A HUGE line that wrapped around the entire large building. But the employees rocked it! They got peoples orders in, standing outside with devices, and food was made quickly. This chain restaurant had and still has good feedback. Text book fact: Portillo's made its debut in the state of Michigan on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, with the grand opening of the fast casual's new restaurant in Sterling Heights, MI. They serve the iconic/famous Chicago dog, complete with 7 toppings including- yellow mustard, chopped white onions, bright green sweet pickle relish, a dill pickle spear, tomato slices or wedges, pickled sport peppers, dash of celery salt all on a poppy seed bun. Probably their best know is their Italian beef sandwiches. It's slow-roasted for 4 hours, thinly sliced, served on French bread. There are many ways to order their Italian beef sandwich. Not sure, here's your schooling--the standard sandwich is served by splashing a bit of the flavorful, secretly-spiced "gravy" on it. Some like their sandwich "dipped," which means they dip the whole sandwich in the so-called gravy. You can also order it "dry," with very little gravy. They call it gravy but I don't get that. It's Au jus in my books, the beef's natural juices that comes off of it while cooks. Don't be a wimp, get the oven-roasted sweet peppers or hot giardiniera peppers. It's makes everything money. Anyways..... I feel bad. This location opened back in March 2021. There was a Yelp page already made- years ago! Tons of reviews and hundreds of pictures. All those people who spent time writing their reviews and posting pictures. Now, some how-poof- all magically ALL gone! WTF Yelp!?! Kinda NOT cool!

Tim K.

Yelp
I am so glad I don't have to drive to Chicago to enjoy Portillo's. The service was excellent, and staff was constantly cleaning the dining room. The food was prepared as ordered and delicious. Looking forward to my next visit to try one of my other favorites.

Nick G.

Yelp
If you want an iced cold Chicago style hot dog, this is the place for you. But don't worry, the shake will be melted, so it evens out. The waiting system at lunch time is a mess and there's no rhyme or reason to who gets their food order first. Better options abound in Springfield.

Alexis S.

Yelp
The absolute slowest Portillos I've been to in my life. We sat inside waiting for a burger and fries for 35 minutes after getting our other food while most of the employees hang out and joke behind the counter one person seems to actually care

TY Y.

Yelp
If you love Chicago Italian Beef, Sausage or Hot Dogs, this is a MUST stop fast dining experience! Believe newly opened, we diverted ~5 miles off I-55 (& 72) to this Springfield location for a mouth-watering Big Beef sandwich with Hot Peppers, Chicago Combo (Beef & Sausage) bowl, Portillo's Chili and Onion Rings. So YUMMY and tasty! Love the diner ambience, friendly service, fast dine-in order and/or pick-up. Plus a nice patio to enjoy the meal! A solid 4.5 rated fast food meal for me! Cost is ~$10pp for food and drink. If you go, highly recommend staying with their #1 Italian Beef or the Combo sandwich - that's their specialty, not Chicken. The soft hoagie roll soaks up the au jus juices and melts in your mouth with plenty of tender meat. And the Hot Giardiniera peppers will clear your sinuses, but so good with Beef, Sausage or Hot Dog. And don't miss adding a side of Fries or O-Rings, and a freshly made shake or malt. The Chili was good too, but opt for Beef sandwich first. You won't go hungry or be short of calories after this meal! Portillo's is a GO-TO for me anytime I'm in the Chicago area. Hope you ENJOY!!!

Jes G.

Yelp
Growing up outside of Chicago, I am a huge Portillo's fan. I am so excited that they're expanding their locations around the US so that maybe they'll eventually come further south to where I currently am. However, I was traveling for the holidays and stopped at this location. The first time I stopped here was over the summer, and the second time was near Thanksgiving. Over the summer, I went through the drive thru. It was expedient, and my extensive order was correct. For Thanksgiving, we took the family and ate inside. This took way longer (even though there were barely any other guests), and the order came out just meh. The other main issue that I have with this location is that the menu is so limited compared to up north, that I felt like I only had a third of the selection. Overall, it's a pretty solid experience, and they're trying to find their footing. However, I wish there was more there, both in the inside service as well as in the menu.

Rena G.

Yelp
Everything was delicious. We ordered from the road coming down from Wisconsin and it was ready at the exact time and was exactly what we ordered. Yay love this Portillos. We come through a few times a year and it's always delicious.

Robert M.

Yelp
Visiting Springfield, Illinois and stopped in for lunch ! Great sandwich! The fries could have been fried a couple more minutes and would have been perfect! Overall, great food and great atmosphere!

Tanya W.

Yelp
Stopped at my favorite place to stop! I had the Chicago style Hot Dog! The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly! The atmosphere is wonderful.

Free4u2nvus1 F.

Yelp
Stopped in the Springfield IL location. Girl on register taking our order really was clueless. I ordered 5 dipped big beefs with sweet and hot and asked her to wrap 3 of those to go....well I had to tell her 4 times before she got the order. Then at pick up...all 5 were bagged to go. :( Hassel unwrapping 2 to eat in store and separating from other 3. The food was good just need better employees taking the orders with listening skills

Yang C.

Yelp
Food was ok - just not the healthiest. We got the Chicago hot dog large edition that didn't seem that large, large fries, chopped salad, and 4p chicken tenders for the kid. The tenders has food crunch and I actually preferred it over the hot dog. Then I tried the chopped salad and it too was better than the hot dog - nice amount of dressing (not too much or little which is actually easier said then done). But you know what the best thing actually was? Desert! I ended up going back to get the house made chocolate cake and it was wonderful! The frosting was a bit too sweet for me but the cake itself was moist and got a nice bounce to it if you know what I mean - almost like it's gotta little sweet rice flour in there. Perhaps that's the secret ingredient. Anyway the place's got good vibes and the prices were in the range of a fast-casual joint. Lost another star because after we got home, we were all really thirsty so the food must have a lot of sodium or msg in it.

Laura S.

Yelp
Cafeteria style ordering. Place is large, lots of seating. Employees are extra friendly. Food was good,

Scott M.

Yelp
Great food. Easy to order onlune and pick up. Love there Italian beef and hot dogs. You also have to try their chocolate cake

Joe C.

Yelp
TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I have been to every single Portillo's. This one is, by far, the worst. I say at the drive thru window for 10 minutes waiting for my order. That is 10x longer than any other Portillo's drive thru. My fries were overcooked and my hot dog bun was squished with heavy fingerprints. I will never return to this location again.

Kimberly P.

Yelp
I've never been to a Portillo's before, but had seen the long lines at the drive-thru, so I thought it must be worth a try. They have long lines like Chick-fil-A does except they have people come to your car, take your order, pay for it with a portable credit card machine, put a sticky note on your mirror with your order on it, and then as you creep up, someone else brings the food out to the cars in line so not everybody has to go to the drive-thru window. So you can pull out and go. The fries were hot, seasoned and crispy, and the hot Italian beef sandwich had a ton of meat and soft bread. The only issue was the fatty part on the meat when I got to the end of my sandwich.

Ted K.

Yelp
Today I stopped out at this location to get some lunch and the manager really should spend some time on the lines listening to the way his employees are talking...and then hold a training class. I was extremely put off by the way two specific employees were talking...more like openly swearing and trashing other customers. I travel for work and go to a lot of restaurants while on the road...so I have seen quite bit...and this was way beyond the pale. Specifically...While standing five feet from where the customers pick up their orders...One employee pointed out how another customer asked for something specific...and the other employee responded "my last name is I don't give f***"...with four other employees and me (a customer at the counter) standing right there. The first employee didn't feel the first comment was inappropriate so they kept things going by asking the follow up question "so what's your middle name?" to which the employee responds "my middle name is F*** you". Totally inappropriate...totally uncalled for. At this point another employee looked over sheepishly and realized a customer was standing there...they just brought me my food and left...probably too embarrassed to say anything. I've heard vulgarity before...I get it...people swear...but have a modicum of situational awareness and realize you are standing five feet from where the customers pick up their orders before you go on a vulgarity laden diatribe. If I could zero stars here I would...terrible.

Jason P.

Yelp
Here's how obsessed I am with Portillo's: anytime we drive even 45 minutes north of St. Louis, I say "well we are basically already at Portillo's, so we might as well go the extra few miles!" Yes those extra few miles equal about another 40 minutes of drive time. But it is SO worth it. Although Hot Dogs is in the name, I have never gone to Portillo's for that reason. There is one sandwich and one sandwich only in my mind. The Italian Beef sandwich. The slow-roasted, thinly sliced meat is so tender and juicy. I need to order the largest available sandwich even though I am always uncomfortably full afterwards. And I had never had a sandwich dipped before Portillo's rolled into my life. I'll never look at a dry sandwich the same again. Dip your sandwich. Always. The gravy they use should be its own food category because its salty goodness keeps me coming back time and time again. The next thing I obsess over from Portillo's are the french fries. To the crinkle cut fry haters out there... I can't hear you over the crunch of Portillo's fries. They are salty. They are starchy. And more often than not they are gone in the blink of an eye. Crinkle cut fries are king and Portillo's does them the best.

Michelle L.

Yelp
Portillo's first timer here! I was in Springfield and I had to eat so why not try the legendary Portillo's, right? So I ordered the Jumbo Chicago style hot dog (no tomato) and an order of onion rings. The hot dog was good. It didn't quite have that snap but all of the components were great. There was a pickle spear, sport peppers, galactic green relish, yellow mustard, and celery salt. The poppy bun was fresh. The onion rings were dynamite considering this is a fast food situation. They were very crispy and tasted like there was panko in the breading. I tasted my lunch date's fries and unless you have some kind of fondness for soft under-cooked crinkle cuts the onion rings are the move here. Clean place. Used the facilities twice. I stopped back by on my way out of town and we got the chopped salads to go to eat later for dinner. The salad was fresh and excellent especially the House Dressing. I went on their website later to order some but they don't ship it. What's the deal with that? I'll be back.

Lori L.

Yelp
Imagine how thrilled I was to see a Portillo's while I was so far away from home. I had to stop. I was not disappointed at all. Having my favorite Chicken tenders and a large chocolate shake was a delight. Both perfectly made. From The cashier to the line cooks and expedite as well, all were so kind and nice. Beautiful store decor. Keep up the good work.

Gretchen M.

Yelp
The prices are horrible, they show you pictures of hot dogs with fries and cokes, but that's not what you get for $12.00 you get 2 hot dogs. Portillo's was known for their perfect service, not this one took 10 min,To get 2 hot dogs and a beef sandwich, just bad. No clean tables, what ashame , nothing like it use to be,I guess nothing is.

Brittany T.

Yelp
This has got to be the worst portillos I've ever been to in IL.. the wait was 20 minutes in a line I couldn't get out of because of how the drive thru is. I ordered the spicy chicken meal and I took one bite and threw it in the garbage. The meat on the sandwich had the weirdest texture.. I broke open the sandwich to see if it was undercooked and I don't quite think that was it.. it didn't seem like chicken. I'm never wasting my money here again. At least not this location. Food wasn't worth the wait

Robert T.

Yelp
The Best Beef Sandwich in the World. Send in my order and was ready when I arrived Great Service Can't beat Portillo's. I from Chicago and live in FL so every time I come up to where you can get Portillo's I get it. Come down to FL so I don't have to go to the one's in Fl that says Chicago Beef Sandwich. And I'm disappointed.

Yelp
Going back home to Houston we decided to get our last Italian beef fix here and everything was great. The flavor was on point, lots of meat and tasty, dipped just right, lots of hot peppers, Yum Hot fries were also served without being skimpy. I don't see why people are complaining that the food was bland. We didn't think so. I can't comment on errors but the service was great, fast and friendly. Born and raised in Chicago area we know what Portillos should taste like and there were no complaints here. You can't Always believe what people post. Give it a try. We got our share to go. Can't wait for the next trip back for more portillos food.

Yelp
I've been to a number of Portillo's over the years. This location has the same look, efficient service and food. Not far off I-55 it was quite busy at the drive through and inside. We placed our order quickly and got a table. The food was ready in a reasonable amount of time. The Chicago Dogs were generously topped and the Fries and Onion Rings were hot and crispy. My daughter enjoyed here Chocolate Cake Shake. The Route 66 decor along with the usual retro decor provided a fun visual while we waited and ate.

Yelp
I don't like leaving negative reviews but I hope the management will see it and take measures to improve. We've only been here a few times and it seems to be getting worse, almost no one in the drive through line but it took quite a while to get our food and when I got my burger it was cold and overcooked (dry). The manager threw in 2 pieces of chocolate cake without asking if we wanted it to help make up for the long wait. I know the restaurant business is tough right now but I won't keep going back when the food is cold when it's served, definitely didn't meet health department standards for safe food temps..

Yelp
I never give reviews, but today whenever I pulled into Portillo's for the very first time, I asked the person taking my order. If I could look at the menu for a second, he doesn't respond then I begin to tell him my order, and I told him a cheeseburger with nothing on it besides ketchup, and a Dr Pepper. He proceeds to tell me that we don't have Dr Pepper in a very angry tone and then, when I get up to the window, the manager ends up, handing my food with the most anger ever after I even smiled at him I proceeded to open up my food, and it drenched in mayonnaise. Literally no ketchup no cheese just mayonnaise. Service was terrible. Nobody was happy to be there. First and last time ever going to Portillo's lol. I visited at 1:14 pm Thursday march 7th.

Yelp
The roast beef, hot, extra gravy, dipped was absolutely fantastic. The salad the wife had was excellent fresh and crisp and the chicken was perfectly done. My fries were a little soggy and cool. The service was quick and freindly. The dining area was clean and comfortable. Will definately be stopping again.

Yelp
Good Chicago dogs. Not much else that hits the spot here for me. Just another restaurant I pass on Hall Rd now.

Yelp
I just tried the Chicago dogs and the onion rings they are both decent. My family loves the beef sandwiches. They are much better if you dine in because they can get soggy pretty fast. We like to order from the catering menu and make them at home. It's super easy and cost effective when you have a group. They give you all the fixings. Oooh and try the chocolate cake it's amazing!

Yelp
we tried portillos for the first time tonight and we were not impressed. there was no wait in the drive thru but the service was absolutely horrible. when we explained to the service member in the drive thru that it was our first time there and we needed a moment, she sighed loudly and rolled her eyes. after we were ready i began to order as she stood next to our window. she blatantly ignored us and cut me off as she said "oh you're ready now?". as we sit here in line waiting for our food, the only reason we wait is because we already paid. otherwise we would've left. we have yet to try the food but based upon service alone, we will not be returning
