I got my first instrument yesterday at the store. Barry was super helpful and knowledgeable and made the experience great. I highly recommend them for any of your music needs!

This was a few months ago, but I bought a guitar here and the manager was very patient and kind. I am reminded of this as I have been to other music stores and they seem rather impatient and unhelpful. The service here was truly amazing and I believe anyone who comes here will be well serviced for any needs.

Portman’s music has been my number 1 preferred music store for over ten years. Anytime I need a repair, Mr. Barry is always readily available to help and does it in a timely fashion! I recently purchased a horn online that needed an adjustment to the keys. I called AFTER BUSINESS HOURS and was able to reach him. He walked me through step-by-step on what I needed to do to solve my problem and told me that if I couldn’t fix it while we were on the phone, that he would stay and help me. The customer service is far from average and I couldn’t be more thankful for their presence in the city of Albany! Would highly recommend if you are looking to finance an instrument, or receive lessons from their more than qualified staff, or your basic needs for music gear!

I have been here several times and the staff are always friendly and informative. I have purchased a few guitars and supplies over the last couple of years without a problem. As a guitar guy I would love to see a bigger selection, and want a larger personal collection. Most guitars are lower end beginners models, and if that is the primary market then why not. However, it is a bummer to have to trek to some distant and if you are wanting higher end stuff, but so is life.

I've been to this place twice now. Both times, I was extremely satisfied. The first was to buy a few picks and the second was to restring my guitar. The staff is always friendly and highly helpful. The guy who did help me with the restringing, not only showed me how to restring it myself but also a few tricks for someone learning it. All in all, Great customer service!

Great music store. While I have purchased several instruments and various equipment over the years, and always very satisfied, it’s not my best compliment. Customer service is beyond great. Everyone are always helpful and patient. Hey, it’s a music store. Musicians kinda like to just hang out in a music store, just getting a ooey gooey feeling being surrounded by music toys. Ninety % of the time buying nothing. I still get welcomed time after time after time. Being musicians, the employees fully understand. I am Gratefull for this store in Albany.

Excellent customer service the staff were extremely friendly. Would recommend 11/10. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Barry helped me get my first guitar and was extremely enthusiastic in helping me find the right guitar.

Portman's music in Albany was great helpful and friendly. This is the second school term with me renting my daughters flute. I have been having trouble with the RUDENESS when I call in inquiring about my bill through the Savannah number. When I kept asking questions it always ends with "you can just return the instrument." I called Wednesday to make a payment and ended up getting hung up on because I was told the same thing and guess what today they called my daughter school saying call them immediately! (Mr Rogers) why call my child school she doesn't make the payment even the school was upset about the message when clearly they have my number and I answer and return calls when they try to debit my card and it's locked I unlock it and make the payment but lately no calls just $100 payments taken off when I pay $33 a month.
