Portola Coffee Roasters for the serious drinker... I'm not THAT but I do appreciate the craft behind the cup. BTW, it's a great cup of coffee!

Back when they first opened up and I worked for The Chuck Jones Center for Creativity (CJCC), just across the courtyard, Portola was always a welcomed treat. I admit, I do not know a fraction of what many of their baristas know but was always learning something new & different.
Here, I was introduced to the Kyoto and now whenever I drop it, it's usually my go-to drink, especially on a warm day. That is, if it happens to be available that morning but sadly no, NOT today. So, instead I went with their freshly made, cold brew, and it hit the spot!

I came by CJCC to grab art supplies for a children's STEAM workshop series that was beginning the following week. It had been a while since stopping in @ the OC Mix and had some time to walk around and enjoy the morning... (sigh) It was nice. I took a seat outside around the fountain in the courtyard as the number of people started increasing.

Many of them were dining @ the Greenleaf Chopshop; 3 1/2 Stars w/almost 600 reviews. I am not too familiar with the business but they're supposedly known for "health & wellness. An unwavering commitment to provide flavorful & fresh dining options for you & your family." Also, it's quite possibly due to the fact that not many other places were open @ that time. I was tempted to pop-in but I didn't have the time for a sit-down meal. A cup of cold brew from Portola's fit the time slot perfectly.

One thing I do miss is seeing @ Portola Coffee Roasters is their private coffee tastings which was usually hosted by one of the baristas who would introduce guests to different blends and even their own creations; from what I heard. I was hoping to try & get a seat one day at their private, side room, coffee bar for such a tasting but never did... 'And it looks like because of the pandemic, it may be a while before it's reopened. (But I'm hoping!) HA!

I'm happy to see Portola is still here and wish them continued success during these challenging times. I may try to make some time to sit, sip, and stay a while either to do some work on the laptop or a bit of café sketching.

If you enjoy a nice, good cup of coffee, I suggest stopping by Portola Coffee Roasters for a visit. Do not let all the different items intimidate you, the team is is very friendly and are happy to answer any questions you have. Again, I'm not a coffee connoisseur but I'm not afraid to ask questions either; it's how we learn!
