Portugália

"After a hiatus, Portugália has reopened in the historic town with the same kitchen and service teams. The blue-and-white interior, dotted in matching azulejo tiles from their previous address, is relaxed and cosy. The menu features authentic Portuguese family favourites in sharing portions, such as gambas a la guillo, and the signature steak ‘a Portugália’ in a secret gravy. Round off the meal with a fluffy, whipped serradura." - Michelin Inspector

Food was only average. We ordered the seafood rice, suckling pig, steak, Bacalhau com Natas, sausage, and a sangria white. The seafood rice was not flavourful. The suckling pig was tender, the skin was not crispy but chewy. The others were okay but were not great.

This place has Michelin stickers plastered all over so expectation was high going in. The food we ordered were good but not great. Unfortunately, the garlic prawns we ordered on that evening was not fresh and had a soggy texture. When informed, the staff immediately attended to us and arranged for another to be made. So full marks to the service staff and great ambience. Food was below what we expected for a Michelin restaurant and would have earned 4 stars. However the soggy garlic prawns means it gets a 3 stars.

When in Macao, one should always try Portuguese Food.. especially if one don't have the means to get to Portugal for a holiday. And what better place to have it then at Portugalia, was recommended by a relative and needless to say the place is also Michelin rated. The seafood platter and the suckling pig was the highlight for me. They nailed both the sea and the land. Fantastic place. Well definitely be back here another time!

Amazing I found this restaurant from reviews and I spent some time walking around looking for it. I was not disappointed I asked many people along the way. I will say that everything was delicious. The service was very good. All the staff were smiling and welcoming. They gave very good advice. I will definitely come back here again.

Great selection and quality of authentic Portuguese dishes. The beef steak is tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection! Leitão’s crispy skin and juicy flesh are addicting. Staff are friendly and attentive. An excellent Portuguese dining experience in Macau!

Best grilled octopus I ever had, very good food, delicate and refined atmosphere, yet not complicate. A perfect food/price/atmosphere experience

The food was really well made. I had the seafood pot with rice (285 MOP) and my friend had the egg (205 MOP) on top of the beef steak. The food is of course a bit pricier but the quality speaks for itself and is definitely worth trying. The portion size is also good, not small. Keep also in mind that at the end comes a 10% service fee on top of the price. Speaking of service, it was fantastic. The lady who served us was really enthusiastic, warm and friendly. She also gave us great insights into the history of the restaurant and recipes of the dishes. She was also great at striking up conversation in general without being too overwhelming. You could see the staff was well trained in general but also socially competent and warm. As for the interior, it was nice and clean, but nothing fancy. At first we wanted to go upstairs but decided to sit at the ground floor, as this was a bit more cozier and more comfortable. All in all great restaurant. If I ever visit Macau again, I would come again. And for anyone who else who wants to try good quality food with great service, I would definitely recommend this place.

This restaurant offers delicious Portuguese cuisine with some truly outstanding dishes. The steak with a fried egg was quite enjoyable; the butter sauce was rich and flavorful, adding a great taste to the dish. However, I did request the steak to be cooked medium, but it arrived slightly overcooked. It was still tasty, but a perfectly cooked medium steak would have been ideal. The suckling pig was particularly impressive. The skin was beautifully crispy, while the meat was incredibly tender and juicy. It’s definitely a dish I would recommend for anyone who appreciates well-prepared pork. As for the octopus salad starter, it was also a good choice. The octopus was fresh and well-seasoned, making it a satisfying appetizer before the main course. One thing worth noting is the portion sizes here. They are quite generous, so it’s perfect for those with a hearty appetite or for sharing among friends and family. Overall, this place is a great spot for Portuguese food, and I look forward to visiting again to try other items on the menu.
