Came in for late breakfast at 11am on a weekday. Ordered the huevos rancheros. Table was supplied with chips and salsa while the food was being prepared, which was really nice as I was hungry. The food arrived quickly, and was delightfully steaming hot. I like that. The eggs were perfectly set but not solid, and covered in sauce. The rice and beans were great, and were exactly what I was craving. The meal came with tortillas. I chose the flour tortillas and they were perfect for wrapping the eggs in. Price was very reasonable. Portions were generous. Restaurant was clean. The owner was working the register, taking orders, running plates to tables, and was still able to make conversation and display a great attitude. I look forward to returning and trying the lunch offerings.

Well…well! WELL! 🔥It took almost three years but I finally discovered a Mexican restaurant in the Bay Area that caters to my discerning Tex Mex taste! Yeah! Portumex Mexican Restaurant in Richmond finally won my 🩷! I ordered a canasta con carne asada! Basically a delish taco shell with steak stuffed with delicious beans, rice, onions and cilantro. The red and green salsas were tasty and I also liked the crema! I had a friend pick up the food but I’m excited about taking my people to try other dishes! I give this place my thumbs 👍🏽 up! Lmk if you have Bay Area Mexican food favorites I need to try.

I literally grew up with Portumex ! I will always come home and get a steak 🥩 Cancha! It is the best hands down! & if you like spicy sauce get the green sauce, the red one is more my preference.

Five stars in their category. Significant improvement since the last time I was there. Food tasted very fresh and in good quantity. If you like Coca cola with your lunch order the one in a bottle and a glass full of ice on the side. It's the best tasting Coke. It's Mexican and made with sugar not high fructose corn syrup.

Chicken enchiladas or chicken fajitas? That's my problem every time I come here!!! Everything is so damn good and hella fresh! The carne asada tacos are sent from the taco Gawds!!!
