Prada a Tope

"This restaurant occupies a charming, regionally inspired property that is visible from the main road and features two dining rooms, one with a marked rustic feel, the other a glass-fronted terrace-cum-porch. Both the service and the à la carte perpetuate the traditional recipes of the Prada a Tope name, and have been given a new lease of life since the son of the owners took over the mantle here, gradually and skilfully modernising the dishes on offer. If you’re planning a weekend in the Cantabrian countryside, the property also offers a few welcoming apartments and guestrooms in the same building." - Michelin Inspector

We had an amazing time here, where our motorbikes were locked up and totally looked after by the owner who is also a biker! Winner!|We had a lovely evening with delicious tapas, wine and coffee then a great breakfast before we set off. Nothing was too much trouble for the very sweet owners, who hugged us when we left! It was like leaving Mum! Would definitely return here. It’s only 30 miles from the Santander ferry, so a perfect stop off for the first night. |Thank you very much!! X

We stayed at this family run B&B as a couple for over a week and it was a comfortable stay. I would recommend it for short stays, but could prove a little uncomfortable for longer stays. ||||Bedrooms quite small with little room for manoeuvre. T.V was limited, picking up foreign channels only. Our en-suite bathroom gave off a musty smell which seemed to come from the drains and with no way of disguising the smell, even on shutting the door, the smell lingered through out the night. ||||The owners are lovely, warm and friendly, nothing was to much trouble. Very clean with a very nice restaurant on the premises, although pricey. Great location for beaches, mountains and easy routes to other villages. This is a great stop over for a few days but not for long periods.

Room superficially clean but very dirty under the bed. One of the bedspreads looked as though it hadn't been washed in a very long time and the chair in the room was badly stained and dirty. Disturbed night because of the owner's dog repeatedly barking beneath our window. Hot water not always available and when it was it took a very long time to come through. Poor, unpleasant attitude of staff over complaints form. The 'breakfast' really was a joke, by far the worst we encountered on our 18 day sojourn in Spain and Portugal.

Country inn, bar and restaurant with a welcoming and care by very polite and friendly owners. Good food with value for money. ||We spent two nights, very clean and cozy rooms. The location of the inn is excellent as it is near the mountain, the beach and has easy access.

Get yourself the rice dish ! And do ask what is outside of the menu because we did not and it is not told if you do not explicitly ask. They sell wines and it is specialised in mushrooms so a winner in mushroom season.

Myself & partner booked 3 nights at the above hotel, first impressions were good nice exterior & somewhere to park bike, inside did not disappoint very clean & all wooden floorboards, four poster bed, shower,tv (nothing in English though)but we came away to get away from all the doom from back home.breakfast was strange to us sponge cake & crisp bread but we ate it anyway. Also a mention for man & wife who ran it also a biker nothing to much trouble & an expert in wine & growing mushrooms,if you are looking for somewhere as a base to tour the Pico's of Europa,i recommend this hotel 10/10.
