The 18 Best Restaurants in Asheville, North Carolina | Eater Carolinas

"Chef Peter Pollay’s elegant Posana restaurant has anchored the heart of downtown with its Pack Square location for more than 15 years, priding itself on a vast, award-winning wine list and luxurious, seasonally rotating cocktail menu. Many are shocked to learn after sampling the stellar housemade breads and pastas, that the restaurant is 100% gluten-free — the concept was inspired by Pollay’s wife, Martha, who has celiac disease. Menu exploration can begin with trusted favorites — the sesame seed breadsticks and lemony kale salad with local manchego. Entree options typically include the unfailingly delectable wine-braised short ribs as well as pastas and local chicken and pork dishes. Posana plans to expand into South Asheville in 2025 with a Biltmore Park outpost." - Gina Smith

CONTEXT - Tourists - Anniversary - Wife with gluten and dairy sensitivities - Palates that tend to favor bold flavors - We spent 4 hours hiking John Rock at Pisgah National Forest earlier in the day, so we arrived hungry. - Orders: cheddar biscuits (starter); lobster gnocchi (husband’s entrée); short ribs (wife’s entrée) PROS - Seated promptly for our reservation (despite arriving 10-15 minutes early and not prompting staff to seat us promptly). - Extremely thoughtful staff — congratulatory card, wine, appetizer, and dessert (definitely the most any restaurant has ever celebrated us, which was so kind of Posana to do) - Plentiful gluten-free options for my wife - Filtered water (probably not fluoride-free, though) - Atmosphere was nice but not pretentious - Cheddar biscuits were stellar — warm, great crust, and soft inside. CONS - Although our experience started well, something seemed to rattle multiple members of the staff during our visit, which seemed to throw off entrée delivery timing and noticeably shift the vibe (our waiter’s focus seemed to shift elsewhere). - Entrées were technically correct but unremarkable in taste, so some experimentation with flavor or even some cracked pepper on the table would be nice. Short ribs had better flavor than the gnocchi — but also gristle, which we didn’t love, and really shouldn’t be part of a fine dining experience. - Portions were light for the price point. Even with the complimentary extras, I left somewhat hungry — but, in fairness, that probably speaks more to the gnocchi order than Posana’s menu at-large, as well as my high activity levels earlier in the day. BOTTOM LINE - Google doesn’t allow for half-stars but Posana earned closer to a 4.5 in our book, largely driven by how we were welcomed overall, as well as the accommodation for the gluten-free crowd. We both noticed in particular one waiter, who — despite not being our main waiter (and possibly training others, judging from the fact that others seemed to be shadowing him) — seemed especially warm and present, presenting us with a bite from the kitchen and a dessert before we left. - I’d recommend Posana’s atmosphere and elevated American fare to someone celebrating a very special occasion as you’ll feel seen by the staff if you make the occasion known. Otherwise, the salads looked awesome on our way out, so for something more casual I’d recommend 2 salads, cheddar biscuits, and drinks. - Free off-street parking is available after 6 PM. However, if you happen to end dinner when it’s dark, prepare for vagrants waiting expectantly outside of Posana.

We chose Posana as the place we were married, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we walked in, everything felt intentional, warm, and beautifully cared for. The space is elegant without being fussy—intimate, glowing, and full of soul. It was the perfect setting for a candlelit dinner, vows, laughter, and a night we will never forget. A special thank you to Lindsey Wehrli, Events Manager, whose care, professionalism, and attention to detail made the entire experience feel effortless and deeply personal. The Service WAS AMAZING... If you’re looking for a place that knows how to hold meaningful moments with beauty, warmth, and intention, Posana is it. We will forever be grateful that this is where our forever began.

So I spent my birthday here and I cannot express how thoughtful and pampered this place made me feel. No restaurant in all my years has gone above and beyond to make me feel special. On top of that our food was divine. For apps we got the cheddar biscuits, burrata and carrots. I highly recommend getting the lobster gnocchi as a main. I’ve never tasted gluten free pasta so well paired so well with a smooth cheese rue sauce, and the lobster bits were huge, I didn’t want to stop eating it. For dessert I chose the Mexican chocolate cake. It was so dense and rich it was delicious. This birthday dinner was definitely a forever memorable one which was perfect for a milestone birthday. Thank you so much.

We made a reservation for our elopement with our close family. From the beginning of the reservation process, customer service was top tier. Our server for the night, Jonathan, was super attentive, patient and helpful. We were extremely happy with the service and food. The atmosphere was beautiful and there were many details that made the night special - a congratulations card, Jonathan saving the cork from the bottles we ordered for memories, taking pictures of our party, etc. All the server/bar staff were also there to help and had positive attitudes! Thank you for making our night special!

Google
This ENTIRE menu was gluten free - It was my dream come true as a celiac. Not only was everything safe to consume but was so delicious and perfectly curated. You would never realize everything was gluten free (coming from someone who was able to eat gluten for 18 years). Amazing wine selection too! I love this place so much and thank you for being open and existing!!

I first visited Posana for my birthday nine years ago and knew I had to come back anytime I was in Asheville. This year, I finally had the chance to return while in town for work and I couldn’t wait! From the moment I was seated, my server and bartender, Suany, was incredible. Her friendly, welcoming energy set the tone for the entire evening. Since I don’t have a completely gluten-free restaurant near me, I decided to treat myself, starting with a couple of appetizers, a main dish, and dessert to-go. Every single bite was phenomenal. The flavors were so good they practically made me melt. I forgot the name of the appetizer I had, but it's in the photos and it was one of the best dishes I've ever ate! There was a small hiccup with my main dish, and I had to send it back. I won’t get into the details, because the team went above and beyond to make things right. They truly care about their guests and their experience. I honestly can’t get over how well they treated me. I absolutely love this restaurant and find myself dreaming about returning. Posana is one of the main reasons I look forward to visiting Asheville again, and I can’t wait to come back with my family. Thank you, Suany! You were amazing, and I hope you're around next time I visit! And thank you, Posana! You all rock!

We came here for a bachelorette party, and as with any group event, I tend to weary on service, as in my experience, service can sometimes be hit or miss. Tenille completely knocked it out of the park, and exceeded our expectations! She was incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and attentive throughout our visit. The food and drinks were fantastic, and Tenille’s recommendations made it even better. She suggested an espresso martini with rum, and I can honestly say I’ll never be able to enjoy an espresso martini the same way again—it was perfection. From start to finish, Tenille went above and beyond to make sure we had an amazing time. Every dish was beautifully presented and arrived perfectly on time. She even offered to take pictures for us, adding a thoughtful personal touch that made the evening extra special. Her energy, attentiveness, and professionalism truly turned our night into a memorable experience. Thank you, Tenille!

Google
The service, atmosphere, and food at Posana were absolutely outstanding. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by a genuinely friendly server who made us feel comfortable—even while waiting for our food since it was a full house. Every dish was incredibly fresh and flavorful, and it was clear that a lot of care went into the menu. We were dining with a large group of friends, and every single person left raving about their meal. If I could give ten stars, I would! I only wish I lived closer so I could visit more often.

Yelp
Christmas Eve dinner at Posana was spectacular. The staff was so friendly and professional from hosts to Alyssa and secondary servers. Alyssa was so attentive on a very busy night, which made it all the more impressive. I had the Panko crusted trout which was cooked perfectly and delicious.

Ana H.

Yelp
Love this place! Gluten free restaurant and if you are Celiac or gluten sensitive, you won't need to worry here. Everything is delicious and the presentation is amazing!! Alyssa, our waitress was knowledgeable about the wines and paired everything perfect !

Yelp
I love this place that was gluten-free, which is great for someone who is celiac like me. I got the. short ribs with mashed potatoes and it was amazing. We also had someone who got the pan crusted trout, and they loved it and said it was amazing as well My son got a steak and loved it I got the collard greens and my son got the creamed greens and we had a debate over which was better. Personally, I thought the collard greens were better but they were both pretty awesome. We were too full for dessert I was here around Christmas and the place was packed so a reservation is a must around this time I would definitely come back here Oh, I also got the biscuits for an appetizer. Being celiac you don't always get that opportunity to get biscuits, but they were pretty good. We were sat in the way back, which had a little less ambience than the fright, but still nice

Yelp
If you are looking for farm to table, look no further. Posana has amazing farm to table food. I didn't love my main entree, but liked the other things and how fresh it was. Cheddar biscuits: must get these! I'm not a big cheese person, but this isn't too cheesy. The honey sea salt butter was really good. Chopped salad: if you're thinking about any other salads, get this chopped salad. So incredibly fresh and the vinaigrette was refreshing. Lamb gemelli pasta: this looked so good and I was expecting more thick sauce that is more flavorful like a bolognese, but unfortunately I didn't love it. I think the pasta was overcooked because the pasta was a little soft and almost soggy. The sauce didn't have much flavor so this was a miss for me. Friend or pho: pho spiced vodka was an interesting concept and I wanted to try it since I never heard of this. This drink was SPICYYYY. That spice hit.

Yelp
Food - Excellent Service - Average Ambiance - Great, until a party of 14 was seated near us

Yelp
Stopped in here for dinner (on their extraaa dog-friendly patio; complete with doggy bowls, and a dog menu). I tried the burrata and the lumache- both were "good", but felt the burrata needed to be served with toasted bread (our foccacia was soggy and took away from the appetizer), and the lumache just had too much butternut squash (chunks AND cream, needed something additional to break up the flavor and the texture of the dish). The STAR of the show was the ricotta gnocchi (with lobster) and the chicken breast (with sun-dried tomato cream). The gnocchi was cooked perfectly, and paired excellent with the white cheddar cheese sauce and chunks of lobster. The flavors of the chicken dish went together so well- the tomato, cheese, garlic, thyme, and chile; and the chicken had crispy fried skin, but still was juicy. For dessert we ordered the apple crisp, which also left something to be longed for. The cake felt dense and dry, and should've been hot (especially since served with cold cinnamon ice cream). We sat on the outside heated patio, but the inside looked absolutely gorgeous, with a warm and cozy atmosphere, and tasteful decor. The service was friendly, and very accommodating to both us and our pup, and we would definitely return!

Yelp
It hurts my heart to give this restaurant 3 stars. This is one of the times I wish yelp allowed for half-star reviews, because it truly is better than 3 stars but not quite good enough to be considered 4 stars. We shared a three plate meal option that included an appetizer, and entree and a dessert for $50, and then ordered an additional appetizer on the side. A good positive of this restaurant is that the amount of food they give you is absolutely worth the price. We came in hungry, and were both able to share the one meal between us and still leave some on the plate. The broccoli cheddar soup was rich and tasty, with a slice of focaccia included in the soup. The breadsticks were also extremely fresh and still warm out of the oven, as our reservation was at the same time they opened. Both of these plates were good. Unfortunately, where Posana loses stars is the Joyce Farms Chicken. The chicken itself was juicy, firm and had incredible texture. It was cooked very well, so it was incredibly disappointing that the meat was so salty it was almost intolerable. And it wasn't just the skin - the entire dish was so over-salted that it was actively dehydrating us as we ate. Very disappointing, and I'm sad that this left such a bad (salty) place in my mouth because truly - this restaurant would've been 4-stars in my book if the chicken wasn't so incredibly salty. The dessert (Pomegranate Fig Cheesecake) was delicious and the fruit reduction topping the cake was tangy and delicious. The cheesecake was perfectly set and the pairings went well with the richness of the cake. The inside of the restaurant was gorgeous, and the service was good too. I will definitely come back (and hopefully refine my review) next time we are in town to see if the overly salted chicken was just a one time deal.

Yelp
I absolutely recommend this place! It was a fantastic experience. We chose our meals from the "locals menu" I had the Butternut Hushpuppies for my appetizer- delicious with a crisp crunch and tender inside with a cheese base. The main dish was pan seared salmon with a cheese polenta so good! I finished my meal with a Tahini Caramel Tiramisu which was so beautifully served and not overly sweet - you can eat the whole thing! There was a honeycomb crunch thing on top that was so good too. Our service was outstanding with Parker and Michael! It's a beautiful restaurant and classy! We were dressed casually and most others too but some dressed up for a special occasion. Go - you won't regret it!
google avatar

Yelp
Phenomenal ambiance, top notch and knowledgeable service (thanks Parker & Michael) and awesome food. We arrived before 6pm on a Saturday night so we ordered from the $50 per person 3 course menu plus I added the $25 wine pairing too. The chicken and rice soup starter had beautiful flavoring with a little bite to it so not bland at all. I paired it with the recommended Spanish abarino but was offered other wine if I wanted. Great full glass pours in each course. The chicken entree was excellent and I paired it with a French Chablis. For dessert I paired a Cabernet franc which was totally balanced with the spice of the de answer which was mouth watering.

Yelp
We went to dinner here to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday! It was great! I had the lobster gnocchi and he enjoyed a the NY strip steak. Both dishes were delicious and cooked perfectly. They also provided a few birthday celebration items like a prosecco tasting and small bites. The staff also signed a bday card that was on the table. Service was excellent- checked on us at appropriate times and didn't overly talk too much, he allowed us to enjoy our meals. It's a more upscale dining experience in downtown Asheville. Would suggest for a date night or special occasion.
google avatar

Jess L.

Yelp
I was here for a private party in one of the back rooms. I had some young kids, so our needs were a little different, but the team tried to accommodate us in terms of serving times, so I appreciated that. As for food, I loved my trout and kale salad. I thought the peach crisp was really refreshing. Service for the beverages was a little spotty, but I'm always willing to be forward and ask!
google avatar

Mel S.

Yelp
Service was great and the restaurant was nice, however the food was less than best. I would not recommend this restaurant for large groups or holidays.
google avatar

Phuong D.

Yelp
I was craving steak and was nearby so I went into Posana due to the good reviews on the steak. I got the NY strip and the steak came out medium rare like I requested. The steak is succulent and tender with a nice sear on the outside. Very well seasoned and the sauce it came with is excellent. The fingerling potatoes and creamed greens are excellent as well. The potatoes are so crispy on the outside and tender on the inside and goes well with the sauce. This was a very decadent meal and I enjoyed every minute of it! Service was excellent as well.

Yelp
Had the best dining experience for my wife and I's anniversary dinner. Our waitress asked if we were there for a special occasion and after I told her about the anniversary she warmly congratulated us and came back with 2 glasses of complimentary champagne, 2 complimentary amuse bouches and a hand written card! Just such a nice touch to be treated so well on our anniversary. As for the food, it was impeccable. Highly recommend the short rib and the French silk pie for dessert.

Yelp
I had a great time visiting Posana during the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend! My friend and I came in for dinner, we reserved ahead of time and were seated immediately. She and I both ordered the same pasta. We ordered the Gemelli Pasta and oh my gosh was it delicious! I rarely eat all of my food in one sitting, but I ate this entire plate. It felt like I was eating a home cooked meal. The lamb was tender and almost melted in to the Sunday Sauce. The noodles were great and what I liked the most was the temperature of the food. I know that may sound strange, but it was just right. I didn't have to wait to start eating at all, I was able to enjoy the food while it was hot/warm. The service was great, very attentive and kind! I think this is a great place to have an elevated dinner with friends or family!
google avatar

Annie A.

Yelp
This place seemed pretty understaffed, the waitress was working really hard and she was sweet but we were left to wait for long periods of time. We would have ordered dessert but didn't have another hour to spend here. They did start us with an amuse bouche that was tasty- I always love when restaurants do this. It was a little chip with a fresh avocado mixture on it. I also got a coconut mocktail that had a hint of orange in it and that was amazing. My friends and I split a couple of meals. The ricotta gnocchi was one of my favorite parts of the meal- it had little pieces of bacon and asparagus. We got the short rib and it was ok- the meat was a little fatty. The chopped salad was good, I liked the lime vinaigrette. We ordered the duck and it came out cold, sent it back and it was cold again.. the restaurant took care of it but that was a bit frustrating.
google avatar

Mackenzie C.

Yelp
Ambiance was pleasant. Our waiter, Eddie, was fantastic. Friendly, attentive (but not overly so), and helpful with suggestions. Started with a shrimp toast amuse bouche. A nice bite! I got the kale salad to start which was tasty and perfectly dressed. Both my dining partner and I enjoyed our meals, perfectly portioned and delicious. Dessert was the only "meh" dish for me. It was a seasonal sundae for fall. They served it in a bowl like a deconstructed sundae. Gingerbread cookie crumbles were much too large. Two scoops of the ice cream were the perfect temperature but the other seemed like it had freezer burn. Sauce was minimal. No whipped cream. Edible, but not something I'd order again. Still, an overall decent experience!
google avatar

Angela W.

Yelp
This place is truly phenomenal! The service was spot on, the ambiance was lovely, and the food was delicious! I didn't see that everything on the menu was gluten free to my surprise! They have a gluten free kitchen! However, the only downside is they aren't dairy free which limited us a lot sadly with no substitutions. I really wish restaurants like this that attempt to do gluten free would understand that 90% of people who are gluten free are also dairy free. To offer goat butter or goat milk instead, which has no lactose in it would be so much better. They are half way there! Maybe in the near future hopefully they will make this shift, especially being in Asheville. We would love to come back here again when they offer more items even just naturally without gluten and dairy. I would still highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Classy and excellent food! You can go dressy casual or go all out here.

Yelp
We had a terrible experience. On a freezing day, despite having a reservation, we were seated directly by the front door with cold air pouring in. When we asked to move, we were placed in an out-of-the-way area, even though better tables were clearly available elsewhere in the restaurant. There was no attempt to accommodate us or acknowledge the situation. To make matters worse, this was our visit to celebrate my husband's 65th birthday. Instead of hospitality, we were met with indifference. We left cold, uncomfortable, and disappointed. I would not recommend Pisano based on how we were treated.

Dank C.

Yelp
The best service I've ever had at a restaurant. Our waitress Meredith was the sweetest and most helpful person. She gave us a list of places to try around Asheville and took photos for us. The scallops were stupendous. The restaurant was absolutely beautiful inside. I will definitely be coming back when I visit.
google avatar

Ines D.

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner on a Saturday night and they were able to accommodate us without a reservation. Our server Allie was absolutely amazing. Not only did she check in on us frequently, she was knowledgeable about the wines and was able to help me select the perfect wine. In addition to the outstanding service provided, the food was delicious and seasoned to perfection. If you're searching around for good food and an excellent selection of wines, then look no further.

Yelp
Excellent service from the time we walked in the door from the hostess to our very attentive and knowledgeable server Tennille. We celebrated my wife's bday and can't wait to come Back again! My wife has celiac disease and it was So nice for her to be able to order anything off the menu. Everything we Had was very good but we would especially recommend the pork belly and hush puppy appetizer, the shrimp And grits entree, and the cheesecake.
google avatar

Yelp
Sat at the bar for a couple of drinks and to get to go food. Drinks were on point, service was even better, and as per my 80 y/o mother who was the sole beneficiary of the food, it was the best she has ever had (she used to visit the restaurant more often but its hard for them to drive home in the dark, lol). I keep begging them to open for brunch/lunch on the wkds so they can visit again soon. Eli and Suany behind the bar were fantastic, again, great drinks and even better service.

Jan C.

Yelp
Our server Alyssa was top notch! Thanks Alyssa for a lovely Christmas Eve dinner. From your new West Asheville friend. Merry Christmas!!!

Yelp
Posana has a great selection of food. The staff is friendly. The service is great. The ambiance of the restaurant artsy, stylish and cozy. I highly recommend this Posana.

Yelp
We had dinner last night at Posana Biltmore Park. At little disappointed. Appetizers came and still no drinks. One of the appetizers we did not order. Told server and instead of leaving it saying its on the house she took it. Food took a long time to come. Food was good except one dish. The pasta with lobster . The lobster was not good and cold.
google avatar

Amanda K.

Yelp
Do not book a special occasion here. I got a phone call from my mom crying and telling me about how she and my 65-year-old father were treated on his birthday. (She is not by any means a Karen and one of the most pure-hearted, kind people I know.) All my parents wanted was to sit at a table *not* near the door as it was 17 degrees outside and they are in their 60s. Despite the several empty tables, their request for a new table was denied. They traveled from out of town for this reservation. Posano staff should be ashamed.
google avatar

Kay W.

Yelp
We had a reservation and all was perfect. We were at the downtown location (Google gives you a Biltmore Village address). Everyone from the hostess to the wait staff to the servers were top notch. We were celebrating a birthday and this restaurant made us feel special. Would definitely eat here again!

Yelp
This is a gluten-free restaurant and kitchen. Literally everything on the menu is gluten free and the staff has extensive training on the topic. The menu is seasonal and local so not sure how much reviewing the food will help since by the time you see this review, it will probably be different. The beef tartar was good, pretty much like cow sushi. The zucchini hushpuppies are a must have especially if you're gluten-free and don't often get to eat fried items. My girlfriend got the short rib and it was excellent. I got the market trout which was good but the pickled veggies didn't pair well with it. However, the rice grits that also came with the dish were amazing. Do yourself a favor and get dessert. The strawberry shortcake was outstanding and unique, it was more biscuit with crystalized sugar that shortcake but that's what made it stand out and the homemade whipped cream was to die for. We will definitely return each trip we take to Asheville. They do offer reservations and I really suggest you make one a few weeks before your trip as it's super busy and not the biggest restaurant. Pretty cool vibe inside and service was on par.
google avatar

Maddie K.

Yelp
We recently went here for a rehearsal dinner. The back room was set up SO cute and it's perfect for private events. Highly recommend. The staff was attentive and always kept our drinks full. All the food we had was also delicious. The steak was a little rare for me but everyone loved all the options we had. The espresso martini was a hit! I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Good food w wonderful service. My family of three were sat at the bar and the service was impeccable. Eli was attentive and friendly. We ordered the fried oyster mushrooms Oyster mushrooms apps: they were good battered, but I probably would have enjoyed them sautéed so i could experience the oysters more than the batter. Otherwise, good and would recommend. Kids meal trout w mushrooms: with skin, simple seasoning was good, but not seasoned on the other side. Fries were good. Scottish salmon: salmon was nicely cooked, temp was great, but not as fatty as I like a Scottish fillet. The grains w peas was nice, but i didn't much care for the way the greens were in a coconut sauce. Boneless short rib: short ribs are always a favorite of mine. This one was ok, could have been more tender and moist, but still good. The fingerling potatoes yum! I sampled a few red wines, but didn't find one I liked. Fyi: I mistakenly made reservations with another resto on Saturday evening, but the hostesses were gracious and said it would be 20 mins if we wanted to sit at the bar. Surprisingly, it was exactly 20 mins to get seated! Yay - bonus points.

Yelp
So tonight was our 4th time dining at this fine establishment(Posana in Bilmore Park) and the consistency of perfection that we have experienced and enjoyed is nothing short of amazing. We ordered the butternut squash hush puppies which I don't think exist anywhere else and are a must try. The accompaniment sauce which had an apricot type chutney combined with what they described to me as a Mozzarella/cream sauce was something to experience. I couldn't get enough! Our second course was the chopped salad and the lemon date vinaigrette which we asked to be lightly dressed. We usuallly either ask for lightly dressed or dressing on the side due to our paranoia of an overly dressed salad. Not the case here, we actually asked for a side of more dressing since it was that good. Also the salad was fresh, cold and crisp. I couldn't have asked for better. We both ordered steaks for the main entree. My wife had the filet and I had the strip steak, both ordered medium and both cooked perfectly. I have to preface this by stating that it is extremely rare for me to order steak in a restaurant since I am so prejudiced about being the best steak griller I know. I have to be humble here by saying I could not compete. Of course being a nosey big city guy I had to know where they sourced their meat from, it comes from a farm in Bryson city and is of top quality. They butcher their own steaks and it shows, just the right amount of fat for taste but tender as could be, melting in your mouth. Jeremy was our server and was amazing, his advice was spot on from start to finish. Me being nosey had to find out about this gentleman. He has worked and managed in the restaurant industry for a while and it shows! He knows what he is doing. This restaurant should be one of your top choices to try in Asheville.

Michael O.

Yelp
What can we say. Another perfect dinner at the bar after catching a movie downtown. The Potato and Morrell mushroom soup of the day was so delicious. As was the Short Rib. Unbelievably good. A crowd pleaser for sure. Our bartender Sunny took great care of us and mixed up a mean Rye Manhattan. Best restaurant in town! And this is coming from a local.

Yelp
We had a great experience celebrating our anniversary at Posana. To start, I highly recommend the kale salad which was perfectly massaged and tender with the right amount of dressing, crunchiness from the pumpkin seed, and sweetness. This was the best kale salad I've had and I would love to learn to make this! We also ordered the cheddar biscuits but I wasn't a fan. They lacked flavor and tasted bland. I would save my money on those. For entrees, I had the swordfish, and my husband ordered the pork chop. The pork chop was delicious, tender and juicy. It had a delicious citrus brine and was cooked perfectly with a touch of sweetness. It paired well with the grits and collards. My swordfish was okay but I preferred the pork chop! Posana has an inviting ambiance and we had great service. We even received a few bite-sized complimentary treats which were a nice surprise for our anniversary.

Yelp
A great experience at Posana last night for a dinner date with my husband. The menu has locally sourced options with so much flavor. We got both specials of lamb & tartare both are exceptional. Also fun cocktail choices and seasonal fun choices. We had a Dirty goat, a fun funky spin on a dirty martini. Also highly recommend the Stiff Biscuit created by the bar tender & actually does taste like a buttery biscuit! We had the cheddar biscuits and trout as well. Honestly the braised lamb was the star of meals. Dessert we had vanilla bean cheesecake & whisky nana pudding- both good but get the nana pudding! Exceptional service and cool ambience. Thanks Jeremy & Jesus our wait staff for being super attentive and kind. We will be back!

Yelp
A very cute restaurant in downtown Asheville. I highly recommend making a reservation. The patio is first come, first serve and pet friendly. We were seating out in the patio & we had our dog. When we first sat down, there was a couple next to us with a dog & the owner kind of became paranoid with us because we sat with a dog next to her. It was an awkward and uncomfortable scenario but the hostess was so kind and moved us to a larger table and with more space. Our dog did not approach her dog, our dog likes to lay under the table and will lay there until we are finished with our meal. If you cannot control your dog, please do not take them here as the area is small. The restaurant also has dog rules. Anyway, the food was delicious. I highly recommend making getting the short rib. It was fork tender & so flavorful! The burrata appetizer was a well balanced flavor bomb with the sourdough, jam and creamy burrata. The cheddar biscuits were moist and the hot honey butter was Devine. Every dish we had was so good! They even had a 3 course meal for your little pup! We got the chicken and brown rice entree for our dog. She devoured it!

Yelp
I had the pleasure of dining at Posana recently, and it has quickly become my new favorite restaurant in Asheville -- thanks in large part to the outstanding service provided by our server, Suany. From the moment we were seated, Suany delivered a level of hospitality that was both warm and professional. Her thoughtful recommendations led us to some of the most flavorful and beautifully presented dishes I've had in quite some time. Suany's attention to detail, genuine care, and deep knowledge of the menu elevated the entire experience. With service of this caliber, it's easy to see why Posana stands out. I look forward to returning regularly. Five stars, without hesitation.

Yelp
What a great dinner spot! Recently went when visiting Asheville, and it did not disappoint! We started with the hush puppies, which were absolutely to die for and followed it up with two entrées we devoured. We had the pork chop and the short rib, which were both excellent choices. The restaurant has such a cool vibe, and the staff was incredible. Love the live music playing right outside the door as well. We had the spice cake to finish it off and it was definitely amazing. Alli took great care of us! I would definitely go back and highly recommend it.

Yelp
Pretty restaurant with a nice patio for outdoor seating. Service was very good and attentive. We started with some excellent appetizers the cheddar biscuits were very good, the gnocchi were delicious and the salad was fresh and crispy. For main course I had the trout it was ok, and my wife had the chicken. The chicken was good but the vegetables were very undercooked. Overall nice place and definitely worth a try.

Yelp
This place used to be a favorite. As of today, that is no longer the case. I cannot even recommend Posana even though the food is good. If you are ok with an overall attitude of "we don't care if you eat here or not" as well as servers who have no interest in highlighting menu options, then you might be ok. Not only did the restaurant have 5 different menus, their wine list is digital and only the very high end options (it also came with someone's library book options). I've not been so disappointed in some time and we drove 2 hours to dine here!

Yelp
What a great farm to table restaurant. We made reservations and were seated promptly after arriving. Hosts and wait staff were amazing. The ingredients are all sourced within 50 miles unless noted (like Scottish salmon). I had the NY strip and it was perfect in every way. My wife had the trout on grits and it was equally just perfect. The side of fried green beans contained enough for 4 people. I will definitely make plans to return to this place on our next visit to Asheville. Oh yes, a shout out to the staff who signed the card the restaurant gave us. We were celebrating our 41st wedding Anniversary. They all made us feel special. So nice.

Yelp
Food + service= A++++ all the way! Super creative menu- and the staff is just amazing and super friendly! I had the gnocchi dish- perfectly prepared with those beautiful little slices of asparagus. Not sure what the extra little sauce was- but delicious! Also- the zucchini hush puppies OMG! The little smash of goat cheese and a drizzle of Calabrian chili oil. We went 2x and I had the exact same dish: also the atmosphere is super trendy and on point - makes you feel 100% comfortable

Yelp
This was an amazing experience for me, my mom and my two dogs! Jeremy was our waiter and was so knowledgeable as well as fun! Nova sat us and came back to check on our experience. They were just the kindest staff. The dogs each got their own dog meal of chicken and rice! We had the margarita that was not on the menu and it was fabulous! We also enjoyed the chopped salad, pork belly appetizer and split the shrimp pasta. There are no notes. It was a perfect meal.

Yelp
Thanks, Posana, for an excellent experience: service was sharp, cocktails were creative, and our meals were layered with flavors. Great for groups of four or less for intimate conversations and cozy ambiance. Dress code was typical for Asheville: some dined in Columbia jackets, jeans, and hiking boots, while others were in 3 piece suits or sparkly cocktail dresses.

Yelp
Cheddar biscuits were good, and I appreciate that it's a gluten free restaurant. We had the house made burrata - it was quite bland and the peaches were sour - not sweet at all. The table next to us said the same thing about their order and they doused the cheese with salt. I ordered the summer pesto vegetable bucatini - it was swimming in oil. I sent it back and the next one came out well, but my friends were finished with their dinner so I had a few bites then took it to go. Also, the server never did bring my glass of Petite Chablis. Doubt that I'll go back next time I'm in Asheville. Bummer

Yelp
One of our favorite Asheville, NC restaurants. Took four out of town guests there. Got there early and were seated immediately. Had the nice table near the front window. The waitress was great. Brought my own bottle of wine which they not only opened but even decanted! The food was great as usual. Cant wait to go back!
