Poseidon Oyster Sushi Bar

Easily one of the best sushi experiences I’ve had in a long time. The fish was incredibly fresh—every piece melted in your mouth and was clearly prepared with care and precision. What really stood out beyond the food was the service. The staff paid close attention to every detail, and you can tell they truly take pride in what they do. It made the entire experience feel thoughtful and elevated. Ashley was our server and absolutely made the night. She was warm, attentive, and knowledgeable—her presence alone made the experience worthwhile. Can’t wait to come back!

This is a very friendly place. Winnie took very good care of us and attentive to her tables. We stopped in late for dessert and drinks and they were awesome. Delicious too!

I had such an incredible time at Poseidon ! The food was absolutely delicious—fresh sushi, flavorful oysters, and every bite was a delight. I came during Happy Hour, and the open bar was a fantastic bonus! The drinks were great, (Hemingway punch)and the value was unbeatable. The atmosphere here is just perfect. It’s upscale yet relaxed, making it ideal for a date night or a fun outing with friends. And of course, the karaoke was the highlight! Singing with my friends while enjoying amazing food and drinks made it a night to remember. Food, service, and atmosphere were all outstanding. Love this place! This is the kind of place you go when you want to get away from your workplace for a minute and just chill. Great staff, good food, good price. Family friendly Easy connection. Room was a little tight for our group but we made it work.

Absolute garbage food. We ordered pad Thai and spicy tonkotsu ramen + marinated egg (extra $2.50 charge). The pad Thai is as bland as it could possibly be, has absolutely no spice, unseasoned, and particularly underwhelming. There is not one single bean sprout but it does have a large amount of red bell pepper, zucchini and onion which is extremely strange for pad Thai. The ramen broth is decent but the contents of the ramen are beyond mediocre. The egg is simply not even marinated and is chalky & overcooked. This is a pathetic example of these dishes. I am shocked this place is still in business.

Came for Mardi Gras at St Charles and stopped by this spot. Food was lit and the server had rizz. These rolls are the poisedon roll and sexiest man alive roll. 💯 legit. Wish I had this back home

Went for karaoke… but they don’t have a karaoke machine. Just a smart TV that you have to hook your own phone up to. I can sing along to YouTube videos at home. They also insisted that every person meet a minimum $25 tab. Drinks were ok. Servers were nice. Didn’t try the food.

I've booked a private room for karaoke twice with a large group of friends. This is the only place left on the East Bank of NO with private karaoke rooms. You use your phone to project onto the tv, and Poseidon provides the sound system and microphones. A server checks on the group often, bringing food and drinks in as you order them. The food comes in large portions and is good, but could be better. Mostly we just go here for the karaoke! Be careful with your bill! It's $25 per person for every 2 hours of karaoke. If people order more food and drink than $25, you will be very surprised by the bill at the end!! It's also a good idea to keep track of your time. If you go over the 2 hours, it will roll into another 2. We usually plan on going for 4 hours and set an alarm, because they won't alert you when the time rolls into the next payment.

The sushi was surprisingly fresh and delicious. I really did not have great expectations but was pleasantly surprised. The oysters were also really delicious. Calamari was pretty good too. The owner made some food recommendations and was helpful. The place was also really cute. I ordered a lychee martini though which was of good at all. It was like they made a dirty martini and just threw some lychee juice in as an after thought.

Technically the 2 stars is for me for thinking it would be a good idea to order Pad Thai from an oyster joint at nearly 10pm on a Sunday...that's my bad. I gotta say tho, I really can't fathom creating a worse version of pad Thai. Like I could probably be blind folded and put together something that more resembled pad thai....just grabbing random ingredients, feel me? Best way to describe it is that it tasted like they cooked it on the cement on the loading dock behind the convention center next to the hot garbage. Distinct hint of foot sweat. Potentially someone wrung their undies out into it after a 15 hour day with the ac off. Unpleasant at best. Crab Rangoon was solid tho.

They use that disgusting non-chemical perfume water, like, Fabulous inside their restaurant that infects the food. And a place that serves sushi should never ever use a chemical that has the highest cancer-causing VOC elements in their establishment or outside in their foyer when you're entering their establishment. I was excited to eat sushi at their restaurant three days ago and walked in to the foyer and was blasted by Fabuloso. So my girlfriend & I turned around and walked out.

Good food and great service, Winnie took great care of our large group, booked a Karaoke room for a group of 13.

My daughter and I wanted to enjoy the gorgeous weather so we walked over to Poseidon. It's right on the street car line. The place was nice and cozy. We sat by the window and enjoyed the happy hour menu which had enough choices to meet our taste. We ordered warm saki, chicken lettuce wraps and a crunch roll. The food came out promptly and fresh with a smile. If you are looking for a cool place to wind down and stare out the window while sipping warm saki, this is the place to go.

It's pretty dead inside. Two tables filled inside, including us. We ordered two green salads with ginger dressing, rocky roll, Thai lemongrass coconut chicken soup, chicken pad Thai (only comes as one spice level), they will try to make it spicier for us. $29.51. Our waitress forgot about our rocky roll, we let it go, since we were done eating here. The incessant ringing from their food delivery apps is going off constantly in the background. The lettuce is garbage, mostly rotten lettuce and mostly iceberg. The Thai lemongrass coconut chicken soup is okay, super creamy from the coconut and the chicken pieces are oddly cut and shaped. The pad Thai has a decent flavor, the rice noodles are super thin and not loving the chicken in this dish or the fried or roasted tofu either. Our waitress forgot our Rocky roll, that's fine, no need for more average food from here at all.

I ordered through Yelp so this review is strictly about food and not timing or delivery of the order. Food was just food and was mediocre at best. And they got the order wrong. I ordered shrimp fried rice and got chicken rice instead with little to no onions or eggs in the rice. The chicken wings were fried decent but we're not seasoned at all.

I thought the food was fine and there were so many options for food and the prices were great. I wish the karaoke room was more insulated as you can hear everything from the outside. The chicken wings are covered in catfish batter, which some people like, so just be aware. I think it's an amazing value and we had a blast.

Edge of stainless steel bar was filthy, beer taps didn't work, food was ok tasting, but my wife and I were both sick the next day.

Service was great as usual. I ordered at 23:18, close to closing so , sometimes that's hit or miss. This in fact was. a miss. I want to preface this by saying "in my experience at Poseidon, this only happens when near closing." I have eaten there for lunch plenty of times and the food and service has always been great. I ordered a 6 piece wing and fries. The food was hot but when I opened the packaging the chicken was clearly fried too long. It was burned in spots had a very hard crust that was too hard to eat.I work across the street overnight so it's very convenient. I would prefer they tell me they're not frying chicken so close to closing than to get the hay is was given. This is the 2nd time ordering close to closing I was missing a piece of chicken from the order.

I ordered sushi, edamame, and chicken and paid $5 extra for fried rice. The edamame and the rice (all rice in general) were missing. I called them and the girl who answered said she didn't care. I've gone in and had great experiences, but the food has been hit or miss and the last few times I went there the service wasn't great. I would not recommend going here or ordering Togo from here. What a shame because it used to be great.

Start is great and food is good for price. However the server Winnie has been an issue multiple times. The most recent experience, she tried telling me I couldn't go to the bar because there was a $25 minimum just so she could get more in tips from the karaoke room. She's disrespectful, and lies in order to help her pay. She also after this told one of my friends to tell us we have to come back because the bartender felt overwhelmed, when the bartender was right in front of us saying she is fine.

Nothing much to write home about here. I enjoyed the fried calamari and the oysters (they are big and cheap down here in Louisiana), but most of the other sushi was not much to write home about. The service was disjointed and they were definitely short handed. The restaurant felt tired and worn out.

The calamari crunch rolls and California rolls are my favorites here. The crab Rangoon is also really good. Great for a late night eat.

Terrible. Ordered food almost an hour an a half ago food was never made, then after food was delivered (after multiple calls to make sure order is correct and complete) still didn't include silverware or the sauces I paid for. Terrible service

Came here for an early dinner during happy hour. We got 2 orders of the dynamite roll which was delicious at $2.85 each! For an appetizer we ordered the chicken wings - I wouldn't recommend them as the flavor is mid. For my main course I got the seafood fried rice and it was pretty tasty with a portion big enough for 2. We also got the general tso's chicken with a veggie fried rice on the side and it was decent (4/5). Overall great experience and I'd come back for a quick bite. Sushi was the best part by a landslide. Would've given it a 4/5 if not for the gas station bathroom

We came back this time, for my birthday. We had Dustinse as our server and he was so fun! Our kid was his typical three year old self and Dustinse was attentive and funny. There were a few tables dining in and he always made sure we had what we needed. He brought a cake for the table as well. We appreciate yall so much. We always feel welcome, even with our kiddo, and we appreciate that. Thanks again!

I didn't enjoy this place. The waiter was rude.. it was super cold.. my vegetable hibachi was like left over vegetable stems.. then they tried to charge me for the hibachi I sent back and never ate!! Plus rats was running around outside... disappointment. The vegetable Fried Rice.. i separated my empty soy bean shells (edamame) and my asparagus stems (the part no one eats) and my few pieces of broccoli and mushrooms. Only got two stars because of the appetizers and because it stays open late

Truth up front -- I am not a sushi person. I am not a fan, but I'm friends with lots of people who are. I chose this place one night because I was sick of all the other places with lack of sushi options for the rest of us. I can tell you, I was not disappointed. After a couple of visits, I refined my order to the steak (medium rare) with a side of fried rice and it was perfect for two servings (for me). Meanwhile, my sushi-loving bestie would just order a little bit of everything off that menu and just loved it all, especially the salmon. The bar area seems to be quite popular, but the biggest draw, to the best of my knowledge, is the karaoke bar in the back. While you're sitting in the restaurant area in front, you can hear the great *ahem* crooning of the singers, plus the raucous laughter and joy coming from the back. No matter what, you're bound to be entertained!

Our experience was great. the coconut shrimp and crab Rangoons are a must to order. And you have to request Karen she is a WONDERFUL server. WE LOVE KAREN

I came here this past Saturday night with my boyfriend, and the server (white and brunette, I didn't get her name) took our appetizer order then came back to our table to take our main course order. She was very impatient with us. I asked her what was in the crunchy dynamite roll and she told me it was self explanatory, so when I looked at the menu confused trying to figure out what to pick, she then walked away saying she'd give us more time without even letting us get a word in. We then weren't seen for another 15-20 minutes or so, while the table behind us seemed to be served with urgency. The restaurant was not crowded at this time. We decided to leave without ever even getting our appetizer, which we ordered when we first sat down, and I saw continually getting passed over at the sushi counter. I'm not sure if she was overwhelmed or singled us out specifically, but we will not be returning. When my boyfriend asked for the manager, the server claimed to be the manager which is kind of interesting since I know managers don't usually serve the floor. Just a thought.

Each time we order from Poseidon we wonder why we don't call more often. The food is consistent and efficiently prepared.

I LOVE this restaurant. I come here all the time because it's open late and the crab rangoons and sushi are phenomenal! I've tried probably every sushi roll on the menu. The prices are pretty cheap for New Orleans and the staff is always friendly. I've never actually done the karaoke, so I can't speak to it. The karaoke is all done in private rooms separate from the dining area and you can barely hear anything when they're in use, which I appreciate. I would give this place 5 stars if it weren't for the bathroom. It's an absolute nightmare, don't go in there unless you have to.

The best sushi! A hidden gem. Great atmosphere. Crab Rangoon and shrimp with walnuts were also excellent.

Everything was delicious and the food came really quickly. The menu is really big, so there is something for everyone. The drinks were unique and yummy. Meng was an excellent and friendly server who made my dining experience more enjoyable. There are also karaoke rooms, which I am definitely coming back for. The only downside is there is very limited street parking.

Definitely a great place to be, very friendly staff and love the aesthetic of the restaurant. would definitely come back again. Food was absolutely delicious.

Food and vibe of restaurant was pretty good. Karaoke was super fun! It was about 15 people in my party. The only thing I was a bit surprised by was the portion sizes of the food when they brought it out, was smaller than I expected being the prices were pretty high!

Came in tonight to grab something to eat, when I walked in a stood by the front desk, three employees talked and laughed completely ignoring me...Another came up and asked was I picking up an order..I answered no..did I want to place a to go order.. again I said no. I guess he ran out of reasons for me being there because he got quiet and I finally just answered "I'm trying to sit and eat". I was prompted to seat myself, my server was very nice I didn't get his name (white male brown hair I believe). I ordered the salmon app and the shrimp hibachi. The food barely had flavor besides the terrible overbearing sauce they put on it. Wouldn't go again, subpar food and customer service except for my nice waiter who took that terrible hibachi off my bill.

Recommend this restaurant to anyone very good flavors and nice vibe. We came after Mardi Gras and it did not disappoint

Love the sushi but bill had different prices than were listed on the menu. Waiter said that they had updated sushi prices but hadn't updated the menu. What? Ate here earlier in the week and hadn't any issues with the prices. To be fair, they discounted our bill by 10%, but how many folks who hadn't checked their bills got overcharged. Shame on you Mr Poseidon.

We got dinner and a show! A homeless person came in and walked up to our table and asked us for money. LOL. Our waiter handled it professionally and gave us really good service. Besides the show, the restaurant is huge and feels very nice. The food quality was great also. The miso soups and sushi were all delicious.

This restaurant is like hit or miss and i say that due to the fact that service isn't all that great and the food isn't just the best hibachi and sushi i have ever tasted but it's okay. If the prices were a little lower then maybe i would think the food goes well with how it actually tastes because it's so expensive for basic taste imo(if that makes sense) LOL and the bathrooms are something else(be aware!)

Went for my 24th birthday, the karaoke rooms experience is amazing! No cover price, the server was great at checking on us consistently, and the food was great, both in portions and taste! And for such a reasonable price as well!! Love that the karaoke was casted from our phones, meaning you can pick any song you can find off YouTube to do for karaoke. The two microphones worked great, and we were able to adjust volumes when needed. Great experience all around, will come again!

So we went there on a Saturday for there karaoke room for a birthday party the food was not cook well and the service was terrible the customer service was the worst they definitely didn't make me happy and wanting to come back ever again

the cajun scallops were amazingggggg. we also had the chargrilled oysters but i didn't get a picture of that but those were great as well. the sushi was okay and the pork eggrolls were nice. but the star of the show was the cajun scallops!! 10/10. very nice ambiance and good service as well

Literally the best sushi restaurant in New Orleans!! I've been to a lot of sushi restaurant but in my opinion none compare to Poseidon. The food is awesome and the service is always very friendly and helpful. They have really unique sushi rolls and a very broad menu if you're looking for other options also. Make sure you try the baked salmon appetizer!! They also have some really unique cocktails. One of my favorites was the Lychee Martini. If you're ever in NOLA you definitely should check this place out!!!

Absolutely LOVE the sushi here!! It is so fresh and delicious. I got the Philadelphia roll and the King Cake roll. King Cake roll is my new favorite I can't wait to come back!

I came here for a work Christmas party and I had an absolute blast. We rented one of the rooms and I have so many fun memories for that night. The food was absolutely amazing. I am not one for sushi however, this was one of the best that I've had yet and the service was absolutely amazing. They were very sweet and accommodating.

Today is the second time I have been given extremely small wings. I hoped the first time it happens it was because it was an 25 minutes before they closed. however, I see now they purposely charge you $7 for food that should cost less than $5.

Had a quick lunch here on a weekday and there were about three tables seated and one person working as bartender/hostess/server/to go person. I give her tons of credit because she was super busy but always had a smile on her face! Lunch was served fairly quick but the food was A-ok. Nothing horrible, nothing mind blowing. Just a meal that held us over. They do have karaoke rooms available to rent for outings so may come back and give that a shot. Their lunch specials are very well priced though!

There's much better sushi places to choose from if that's what you're looking for. We chose here because it was open late and we were having a late dinner. This was the worst staff we've dealt with since visiting NOLA. Over all the food was ok. We ordered a California roll which is hard to go wrong with. We also ordered a salmon plate and chicken and rice plate. They got our order wrong and send out steak instead of chicken, which wasn't too big of a deal. I just think there's better places to choose from for sure!

Service was good. The restaurant was pretty empty. The food was good. Nice atmosphere.

The sashimi was ok. Miso soup was gross. They served the soup before my wine, which was odd.

The service was prompt and the food was good. The karaoke in the adjacent room was a bit loud, but the sounds of people having fun didn't bother me. I would return and try other dishes.

When I got to Poseidon my friends had already finished their meal. But that did not stop me from ordering their chargrilled oysters. I literally thought about these oysters all weekend because of their perfect garlicky flavor. In my opinion that sushi was decent but these oysters for sure get them there. This is the only thing I can really review the service was great and my friends enjoyed their meal.

All I have to say is COME HERE. The oysters are so good, both chargrilled and raw. YUM! I had to keep ordering because they were so good. The salmon skin salad was super crispy, savory, and full of flavor. My friend ordered the Golden treasure roll and it was also very fresh and tasty. To top it off, I ordered a lychee martini. Strong and so flavorful. Do yourself a favor and just stop by here. Great location and open late. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and GREAT food. You can't go wrong. Even if you don't like sushi, they have food for everyone.

It was overall pretty good. The sushi wasn't the best I've ever had but it was perfect because they were open late. My only complaints are that the karaoke was so loud I could barely talk to my table and we got our sushi before appetizers. The menu has lots of options so it's perfect if you go with someone who doesn't like sushi. Parking was a little tough but that's to be expected with the holidays. Overall pretty average.

Nice nice place but the food did not live up to the look. I'm hoping this was a bad day but can only rate based on my onetime experience. We went in off hours around 2 and the place was pretty empty. Started with the Crab Rangoon and Spring rolls. I can say that I've had enough of both of these to identify pre-made frozen from home made and these were without a doubt, pre-made frozen. Ashame considering there are soo many places around the area that make authentic fresh food. The spring roll center was like mush so this too tells me it was not fresh. Then we move on to the main dish which was Pad Thai Shrimp. Again, we've had this dish more times than I can count. This one had a smell and taste that was just off. Shrimp did not have the same smell or flavor so I wonder if they were made together at the same time. This was not good either. Service = 4 Atmosphere = 4 Food = 1 With Food carrying more weight, this got 2 stars. Best of luck...
