Posh Tea Room is a place where time slows down, and the world outside fades into the background. A true haven for afternoon tea lovers. From the warm aroma of the tea to the delicious taste of finger sandwiches and scones, and the soothing sounds of the piano, you’ll have a lovely time in the posh purpleness.

I am a harsh critic, and I rarely give 5-star reviews, but Posh Tea Room definitely deserves it. My party of 7 was personally greeted, and our coats were hung. As we walked in, we were welcomed into a luxurious environment with a pianist performing soothing music. When we sat down, the owner, Laurie Giles, and the server, Donjae, allowed us to learn about the different teas, and we were able to go through a hands-on experience, smelling the calming scents of the different teas. We were able to customize our experiences with the different menus and substitute items if we did not want them. The staff is extremely flexible. The sandwiches were outstanding, the pasties were delicious, and the scones were light and fluffy. We were presented with an assortment of jam and clotted cream for the scones. The tea was delicious, and the teapots were stunning. I would definitely recommend everyone to try Posh Tea Room. I will definitely be back! Thank you for a great experience.

Monroe meet the European gem known as the Posh Tea Room. The selection of tea is superb and the owner is exceptionally knowledgeable and kind. They are special needs friendly and wheelchair accessible. I cannot say enough about the wonders of this establishment.

An absolute exquisite hidden gem! What a beautiful, bright delight! My friend and I were greeted at the door by the lovely owner (Laurie) who graciously took our coats prior to placing Vincent van Gogh-inspired handbag hooks into our hands, as we were escorted to our reserved table. Delicate live piano music filled the peaceful atmosphere; we gazed at the breathtaking ambiance of beautifully coordinated décor, lovely little crystal chandeliers, and fresh roses. The attention to detail surpassed any tearoom experience we have had before; from the intricate menu displaying a comprehensive listing of a variety of fine teas, to several different afternoon tea treat collections, as well as exploring different tea aromas! Luxurious warm moist towels were presented on a silver platter for our hands. Individual three-tiered plate stands graced our table, filled with the most delectable homemade tea sandwiches, pastries, and scones fresh and warm from the oven. Our teapots were refreshed the moment they began to run low, and our truly delicious afternoon treat collections were customized to our individual needs and dietary restrictions. The genuine warmth of the owner and love for what she does was the finishing touch on an elegant experience we will never forget... and look forward to experiencing again!

I had the most delightful experience at Posh Tea Room! From the moment I stepped inside, I felt like I was being treated to something truly special. The atmosphere is charming and cozy, perfect for enjoying a relaxing afternoon tea. Laurie, the owner, went above and beyond to ensure that my visit was memorable. She greeted us with a warm welcome, shared the history of the tea, and made personalized recommendations from the menu. Her passion for creating a wonderful experience for every guest is evident in every detail, from the exquisite teas to the delicious freshly baked scones and finger sandwiches. The staff were friendly and attentive, always checking in to make sure everything was just right. It’s clear they all care deeply about providing top-notch service. Posh Tea Room is the perfect spot for a leisurely tea, whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a relaxing escape. I can’t recommend this place enough – Laurie and her team truly go above and beyond! I’ll definitely be back!

Posh Tea Room is lovely. My friend and I had afternoon tea at 215pm on a Saturday. We were warmly greeted by Donja who answered our questions and quickly delivered our pots of tea. They have black teas and many hand blended herbal tea blends. There are several menus to choose from, I had the summer menu. The tea sandwiches and scones and petit fours, cakes, and lemon bars are all made in house. All were delicious. I loved the lemon bars and carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. The service is attentive and friendly, and fresh hot pots of tea were offered throughout our meal. The owner, Laurie, was present and chatted with us, happy to accommodate our requests. Laurie shared that there is another room that can accommodate up to 28 people. It's a nice spot for a birthday party or small wedding or baby shower. I will definitely return, it's so relaxing to have a leisurely afternoon in an elegant setting with excellent service and tasty treats. My only recommendation is to serve larger amounts of clotted cream, lemon curd, and jams to accompany the delicious warm scones.

My friend took me here for my birthday. The variety of teas, tea sandwiches and desserts were delicious and beautifully presented. They also had a piano player which makes the experience even better. Laurie the owner was very attentive and helpful in choosing the teas. Decor was lovely. A very relaxing space to unwind.

Yelp
My mother and I tried Posh Tea Room earlier today and had an amazing experience. I've been to high tea at many restaurants, but never had so many sandwich options. Laurie, the owner, is so down to earth and accommodating. She spent so much time reviewing the options. Our waitress Donjae, was lovely and made a wonderful tea recommendation. This should be on everyone's list!

Yelp
We had the best afternoon tea at Posh Tea Room in Monroe today! I had a rough week and needed to relax, and hit up Google for a spot within an hour or two. The photos and menu looked great - I had no idea they only opened a couple months ago, until our server mentioned it. You wouldn't guess it, based on the attention to detail and how smoothly everything runs. It's a lovely space. They take your coats, give you purse hooks, and have a piano player jazzing up the ambiance with mellow yet uplifting tunes. The table was set perfectly with china and all the accessories you need with tea. There is a fancy/classy, yet casual, vibe. We were excited to find out we could both pick our own teas and that we didn't have to agree on one tea service (for food). The scones and treats were the same on all, but the sandwich selection varied on the three different afternoon tea menus. I opted for the "classic", which came with coronation chicken salad, ham/cheddar/mango chutney, cucumber, smoked salmon, and egg salad sandwiches. My husband got the "teas around the world" which came with Brie/apple/honey, ham/gruyere/dijon, olive tapenade/sundried tomato, chickpea/tzatziki, and a spiced chicken sandwich. All were excellent!! And when we finished, they even offered us more if we wanted them. The teas were great! We were allowed to pick our own teas (didn't have to share) from a broad menu of teas. The owner buys direct in London to get some of the finest teas that are not available locally. I am caffeine free so opted for Marian Wright Edelman's Guardian's Grace, a fruity herbal tea that was relaxation in a teacup for me. My husband first tried the Elizabeth Cady Stanton's Strength Blend, and the also had Mary McLeod Bethune's Essence of Uplift. They were all different, but all very tasty, and perfectly brewed. It also wasn't lost on me that the teas were named after amazingly strong women throughout history, and that we were enjoying them at a woman owned business, on International Women's Day! The scones were delivered fresh out of the oven with your choice of clotted cream, jam, or lemon curd (YES to all, please!) or also butter. The pastries I believe are a rotating selection, but all were tasty bites. From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, welcoming, and hospitable. It's a nice easy pace, with two hours reserved for your experience. It was a wonderful escape from reality! I really appreciate Laurie, Donjae, and Ingrid for creating the perfect experience for us today. 10/10 highly recommend. Call ahead for reservations!

Yelp
Absolutely lovely!!! The decor here is tasteful, with an understated elegance which sets the tone for your visit. (Posh indeed!) Walking in as live piano music was playing was such a special touch! I selected the "Serenity-Tea" menu, which included 5 different tea sandwiches, scones with jam and clotted cream, and desserts. I enjoyed them all, but the roasted red pepper and the cucumber sandwiches were particularly delicious, as were the scones!! The teas were delightful, especially the Awakening blend. So bright and flavorful! Our server Kristen was unobtrusive while taking very good care of us. She made us feel so pampered! We also enjoyed meeting the owner Laurie, who obviously has a wealth of tea knowledge and experience. As afternoon tea connoisseurs, my friend and I could not have asked for a better experience -- especially as they have only been open a few weeks. Well worth our hour-long drive! It was exactly what we were looking for. Perfection!

Yelp
Being someone who enjoys a very good Afternoon Tea this location did not disappoint. A very 'Posh' spot indeed. The dining area showcases a beautifully well lit sunny room. The beautiful interior design and colors are gorgeous. Beautiful plates, tea cups and tier servers really give it an authentic feel. But probably the most wonderful feature was the LIVE PIANIST playing softly during lunch. It simply made you relax and want to savor all of the delicious bites and teas. I enjoyed the Tea Around The World Menu. It was delicious! Every sandwich was simply scrumptious! I enjoyed two rounds of them. My teas were brewed perfectly and very smooth tasting. I enjoyed 4 different teas including a DESSERT TEA! So please save room for that. The scones are baked fresh and served warm. They were amazing! My friend makes amazing scones from scratch. She admitted she thinks these were better! And the clotted cream and home made jam was the icing on the cake! Sooo good! Thankfully I had a little room left for desserts. We were served wonderful petit fours, macrons and delightful chocolate bites. I couldn't eat or drink another thing! I literally had to take 'A Walk Around the Room'! Lol The owner Laurie was just lovely! Very engaging and truly knew her teas. One thing I love is she has a tea display set up that lets you smell your tea of choice before selecting. What a lovely thing to offer! It was wonderful to converse with her and get to know the owner of this delightful little respite from the stresses of life for a few hours. Our server Kristen was awesome! She is the right person for the job. She was so kind and polite adding a warm calming effect to the environment. I hope we have her again when we return. All and all a 5 out of 5 stars! Worth every penny! Can't wait to return. Thank you Laurie for bringing this gorgeous tea room to CT! See you soon!

Yelp
A wonderful escape on a cold winter day! From the moment we stepped into this gem of a time capsule, we were pampered and felt very welcome. The formal dining room was so tastefully decorated and no detail was spared. We sipped tea from an extensive selection and dined on delicacies while listening to a live pianist. The staff, including Laurie, the owner, went above and beyond to accommodate our every whim and make sure we had an exceptional experience.

Yelp
I enjoyed a lovely experience with my friend at this private boutique tea room. The atmosphere is bright & delightful with violet colored walls, beautiful set tables with fresh flowers and a round table in the middle of the small room with dessert cakes. The menu with various themes provides several choices of sandwiches, scones, desserts and a large choice of teas. You can experience different teas during your sitting. Soft music is played and the service is excellent. I enjoyed the sandwiches, scones, desserts and the teas very much! They actually bring individual tea pots to your table and you can continue to pour your tea as you take your time eating and chatting. I feel the average price point of $54 /person is a good value for the wonderful experience & taste sensations. This is a treat worth giving yourself and shared with others. Just remember, you must schedule your tea time in advance.

Yelp
We had such a lovely time at this tea house! They were incredibly accommodating for dietary restrictions (dairy free). The teas were delicious and they had a lot of variety to choose from. Highly recommend this experience!

Yelp
We had a lovely high afternoon tea here today. We had 6 different tea pots with our order of 2 classic, one Serenity-tea, and a Tea Around the Globe tea sandwiches. I had wanted to try the Elizabeth Cady Stanton tea, which was delicious. The top tier of the tea tower was decorated with Macarons, Cannoli, Madeline's, and Scones fresh out of the oven came as the last course. Everything was fresh and delicious. The wait staff was conscientious and attentive. They explained the teas and origins which they have creatively named to accompany the 4 different tea, sandwich, sweet treats and scones. The owner and my Dad talked about Harrod's tea and Fortom & Mason, of which they have one of each on the menu under their creative names. If you like tea, make a reservation and prepare to take some time enjoying their experience. As a family who have loved tea for many years this was a beautiful foray into an otherworldly relaxation of place and time. Thank you. Everything was delicious. The tea service, settings and fresh lilac walls were soothing. Best wishes for your tea shop. It is beautiful.

Yelp
Memories were made with my experience at Posh for Afternoon Tea which was outstanding. The staff, led by Donjae and Courtney, provided exceptional service, and the owner's passion for the tea room was evident. The food was excellent, and the customer service was unparalleled, making for a very memorable visit. To the Posh tearoom team thank you.

Yelp
My 13 year old daughter and I enjoyed our first traditional English tea at Posh Tea Room today. From start to finish, we enjoyed the entire experience. The owner helped us choose from a variety of teas and was very warm and welcoming. The tea sandwiches, scones and pastries were all fresh and delicious. The service was excellent and we relaxed there for 2 hours enjoying the food, tea, and live piano music. I highly recommend Posh Tea Room. We can't wait to return. A truly wonderful experience!

Amy W.

Yelp
If you are looking for a truly special experience, I highly recommend booking a reservation at Posh. From the minute we arrived we felt pampered and welcome. The decor is done in shades of purple, lavender, and white with tasteful artwork, fresh flowers, a crystal chandelier, fine linens, and beautiful china. We enjoyed live piano music and were treated like royalty by the charming young women taking our orders. The menu has a great variety, including vegan specialties, and I had the best tea I've ever tasted, served loose in a large pot that was refilled with hot water when it began to cool. The tea sandwiches were fresh and delectable (the Coronation chicken was a standout!), the scones were hot out of the oven, and we hardly had room for the mini pastries but I can tell you the ones we tried were fantastic (I'm looking forward to the rest that we brought home with us). Oh, and the steamed towel between courses was a very nice little extra! It was so relaxing and my daughter and I left promising each other we'd be back soon. What a nice little gem of a place!

Linda A.

Yelp
Excellent experience! Perfect place for a simple get together or a special event. Will be back many times in the future.

Yelp
It was a wonderful experience! As soon as we walked in we could hear the pianist playing some beautiful music. We were greeted by a friendly hostess who offered us a variety of teas. We then had an assortment of delicious tea sandwiches, my husband even got "seconds." Next came scones, hot from the oven. They were delicious!! We finished with an assortment of desserts and dessert teas. It was a very nice date for my husband and I. I am looking forward to going back :-)
